Yes, the newer versions of the driver has been merged in the v3.x kernel, so you just need to recompile the kernel with the driver enabled in:
KERNEL SOURCE -> Device Drivers -> USB Support -> USB Serial Converter Support -> USB CP210x family of UART Bridge Controllers

Its supported by kernel itself (stock and custom), but not supported by roms (stock and custom).
So ... what are the chances to have it? What can be done, at what level?

No chances Its needed to add something to audio libs/configs/frameworks to route sound to DAC.

USB OTG

Yesterday, i bought a USB OTG cable unaware of the fact that our phone doesn't support. But, i read that kernel must be supported to run OTG cable. Does anyone know or can help out to run USB OTG ?
HTC one x supports USB otg by stock kernel it is a possibility that that our phone too supports it

As i said, that i tried it already and it's not working.
If you want to definitely find that a device support OTG (aka Host Mode) Cable you can install that, run it and in results you have your answer. Basically, for a device to support OTG it must contain drivers, Android configured for that, and a built-in hardware.
I am a Desire v user. even I tried the otg cable, (not support) run the diagnostic, and my device is not supported. isn't there some sort of driver that we can install in our device to enabel otg support? my phone is not rooted.
Following Desire V characteristics, it`s based on Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon (S1) Chipset. By typical specifications of MSM7227A, CPU not support USB OTG. CPU even can`t supply power to the mini-USB port.
So it will be a miracle if any developer will take a look for Desire V & compile custom 3rd-party kernel with supporting overclocking, governors, frandom, etc. And may be it will support USB OTG with external power supply.
But I'm afraid this does not happen. So forget about it.

Hello Friend! I have changed the USB port . I put the USB from my previous Z Ultra it was working normally, but this new device does not work . When it is off , connect the original charger , it lights up the screen , the battery icon appears but does not charge.

In the terminal or cmd window put these words
adb devices
If there is a device listed after running above code then adb drivers have been installed properly and u can install xzudual recovery with ease. If there is none that means either u dint turn usb Debugging on or adb drivers are not set up properly.

[KERNEL]Kernel with full support for XBox 360 / One controllers[v1.3]

Because of the annoying constantly blinking LEDs of the wireless Xbox 360 controller I decided to compile an updated kernel myself.
I was Inspired by this post.
This kernel is 100% Nvidia source. The only difference is the backported xpad driver.
It is intended for use with Nvidia Shield Marshmallow firmware including zulu99's StockRestyle and full Android Marshmallow firmwares.
I have only tested it with the Pro model. It has been reported that it works with the 16GB model also.
Xbox One controllers are working also but only wired.
You can test the kernel by booting the new kernel with fastboot boot boot_xpad.img before flashing it.
If you are using systemless SuperSU (v2.56+) keep in mind that you will lose root when you flash or boot a new kernel.
Installation:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot_xpad.img
Afterwards you can install SuperSU again by booting into recovery and installing the SuperSU.zip.

No, but pretty sure the XBOX ONE controller does not work. THough the 360 does.
Anyone confirm if this works on 16GB model?
I just got my 16GB shield TV and would like to use my 360 wireless controllers.
hello i have the 500GB Pro Model and the 1.1 Kernel is working great....my wireless 360 controller and a wired one are working perfect....only wished there were force feedback support in Android....i know some emus can enable rumble effect......
Thank you for sharing.....any other improvements you want to implement to the Kernel?
Any chance to have something similar with dualshoch ? Would be awsome.

The Dualshock 3/4 work just fine via USB, and if you're rooted you can try sideloading the Sixaxis app to pair via USB. It doesn't advertise as being compatible with Android TV though.
I'd try it myself, but I don't particularly want to root this device, as I've already had it replaced under warranty :S
works very well on StockRestyle, thanks!
1) Has anyone tried the kernel on 16 GB version yet?
2) Is the real stock kernel from 500 GB version 100% identical to the 16 GB kernel?
3) I've read somewhere that the stock kernel didn't change with 3.1, is this true?

I got no feedback yet if it works with the 16GB model also. I've extracted both kernels from the factory image and they look almost identical.
The firmware 3.0.0 kernel is definitely NOT identical with the firmware 3.1.0 kernel.
At the moment I'm compiling the kernel with the updated xpad driver and will upload it when it's finished.

Okay, thank you. I'll wait at least for the 3.1 version, but I don't know how great the risk is to boot or even install the kernel if it's not intended for the 16 GB version.
Do I need the xbox 360 pc dongle to get my 360 gamepad working with the Shield TV, or this Kernel. I had thought the 360 gamepad controller was bluetooth but it seems it is not. I have Zulu99 full 6.0 installed.

Yes, you need the dongle. You can pair multiple controllers with the dongle.
