Strange unlock sound - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm running 4.4.2 stock and recently did a factory reset. Since then I've noticed that there's a sound when unlocking from the lockscreen. Sounds like the Google Now chime. I've tried disabling the unlock sound feature to no avail. I searched and some said it was NFC to blame so I disabled that, even removed my credit cards associated with Google wallet. Still no dice. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix? It's annoying when I want my phone to be silent, but when I unlock the screen, there's a big loud sound.

[Q] HELP! Bluetooth/Voice Talk

"Long-pressing" Bluetooth earpiece call button is no longer launching "Voice Talk". I can't get any help from Samsung or AT&T. All I can find through Google searching are people trying to disable the feature. But I like it, and I want it back. I thought I might have accidentally messed up a setting, but after factory resetting the phone it's still not working. How can it go from working, to not working? I'm still using the same brand new Plantronics Bluetooth I was using when it was working. Thanks for the help.
I have noticed this also. I'm on s8 and assumed it had something to do with the custom ROM but maybe not. I hope someone knows more than we do and knows how to fix it.
I figured out my problem. I had installed BTmono, to listen to music through the earpiece. Once I uninstalled it, all went back to normal. Try looking for any Bluetooth related programs you may have installed.

[Q] CM9 / AOKP Unlock Sound

I've installed CM9, AOKP and Paranoid Android on my i9300 and I have one major issue. How on earth do I turn off the unlock sound. I can't seem to find an option to turn it off or even just change it.
Searching around for it I must be the only one annoyed by it.
Also is it supposed to almost totally silence playing music? Because that's really really annoying having to press a volume key to get the sound back after unlocking.
Settings ––> sound ––>
It's in there. One of the tick boxes further down the page.

I've seen that option and tried it, rebooted, tried it again, rebooted, tried it again, rebooted.. It's driving me nuts.
The unlock sound killing playing music is pretty terrible too, I hope that gets fixed at some point.. Think I might stick a bug report in for it.
Using the latest nightly of CM9 this works fine for me. I don't recall it being an issue in any of the other nightlies I've used either, which is all of them since the 24th.

Can't disable the screen unlock sound

Suddenly, starting a few hours ago, my phone began making the notification type sound whenever I unlock the phone and access the homescreen.
The option (screen lock sound) is disabled under 'sound' in settings. I presume this is the setting responsible?
Any ideas why it's started doing it?
I've tried activating and deactivating different sound settings, silent mode, airplane mode, restarting etc in order to re-boot the setting, but to no avail
Then use widgetlocker and configure in that app.

Nope, just tried it and it doesn't stop the sound as it's already set to off in widgetlocker. It uses a different source for the sound.

Normally it should be disabled under settings/sound/sound for lockscreen. Otherwise factory reset if it is such a problem for you.
I found out what it was. Thought I'd update the thread in case its searched.
It was the nfc notification sounding every time the phone was unlocked. Turn off nfc in settings and the sound disappears! Yay. Was driving me nuts.
Glad to hear you found out

Ghost sound notification.

Hi guys, extremely frustrating problem I have.
It has happened on two different ROM's so I don't think it's a glitch with the ROM as such, but of a file or possible app in my phone.
I have even used rom toolbox to delete every notification sound, yet this ghost noise still occurs.
It usually happens after I unlock my phone, the noise resembles something similair to the notification sound 'deneb'
No idea what it is, or how I can shut it up, once again it sometimes happens, othertimes it doesn't.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Loss of Ringer and Notification Sounds

My wife and I each have the T-Mobile LG V10. Mine works great! Hers does not.
Her sounds will not work consistently. This includes the ringtone and notification sounds. I contacted T-Mobile and they said they have not heard of this issue and I should exchange it. I looked online and found no similar issues. I exchanged it and a day later my wife is having the issues again!! What are the odds??? The only constant between the two phones is the SIM card and Google account info.
Has anyone else had this issue or have any additional ideas on what could be causing the problem?
I have already double and triple checked the notification settings, including the priority calls and interruption settings. I have also performed the factory data reset.

Are her ringtones / media files on an sd card? I'm thinking SD card faulty? Or using stock internal sounds? Then my theory don't fly.
Another test, reset hers stock, pop in your SIM and use your account. Troubleshoot those.

Thanks for replying. No SD card installed. Could the SIM cause a ringer issue????
Maybe a smart setting sound profile?
When you exchanged phones, this you or T-Mobile backup and restore stuff? I know the lg backup will bring old settings back. After the Factory reset, how did you restore the phone?
Does it still happen in safe mode?

Great idea, however, I did not use the LG Backup feature. I did check the smart settings, which are all "Off". How do I enter safe mode?

Set her phone back up as a "new phone" dont restore or sync her account. Check from there.
UPDATE: Exchanged phone again. This is her 3rd LG V10. Guess what happened a few hours later? Ringer and notification sounds stopped working! Then, they came back on again shortly thereafter. Then they stopped working again! This phone has the same issues as the previous ones...only at least the sound works more often than the previous phones! Hopefully this is a software glitch and LG will fix it. I am very surprised my wife has had three phones in a row with the issue and yet I haven't found any threads with others having this problem.
Have you tried getting her a new Sim card? This seems like an issue that is more user related than phone, since it seems she is the only one we know of with that issue.
I'm not saying it couldn't be the phone, but the chances of getting three bad phones in a row with what seems to be a very rare error is pretty slim.

I completely agree, very unlikely. This time I made sure we got a new sim card. If it is not the phone, the only other option is a software glitch, but the only app she uses that I do not is Candy Crush. I doubt that is messing with the ringtones and notifications...but she isnt willing to part with it long enough to find out!
At least this one works slightly better than the previous two...so far.

My wife and I have the same phones and hers after she plays a game the ringer and notification sound will not play. I have check all the settings but can't come up with a reason for it. If she restarts the phone it will work till the next time. I was going to take it back today after work, but after reading this post I don't know if that would do any good.

You are correct, I'm not sure it would help. After my wife had the issue with a third phone, she finally had enough and traded for a Note 5. Interesting note, the only difference between her and I was that she played games a lot...specifically Candy Crush games. Perhaps there is a compatibility issue with those or one of her other games. Hopefully this issue is resolved for you, because the phone was great otherwise!
Two of the games she plays when this happens are hearts and candy crush saga. I turned on vibration with sound and vibration will still work when sound profile doesn't. Haven't found connection yet.
I lost ringtone but still had notifications and message sounds. Don't know what happened but a restart fixed it for now. I don't have any games on my phone at all.

I am having the SAME issue with mine. I have had it since November 2015 and got my husband the same phone for Christmas. His works just fine and mine does not. It will NOT alert me for my text messages for anything. I have checked and rechecked ALL settings.
I too am having this issue and yes I think it's candy crush. This morning I had a full lives notification icon in the task bar and no alarm clock tone just vibration.
I'm having this issue as well. I do not play or have candy crush. My issue started after the last forced update. This is my 2nd phone that has done this. I also have at&t
