Hi All,
I have a U25GT-C4W running Android 4.4.2 KitKat. I have managed to root the tablet.
The tablet has a separate charging DC 5V in jack as well as a USB Micro OTG connector. It connects to PC fine and I am able to detect it through adb.
It is also able to detect OTG devices connected to it such as a Keyboard, Mouse and a USB Stick/Flash Drive.
Out of all the China tablet clones that I have tested, this one has a peculiar behavior. See picture attached to understand this behavior.
If I connect DC 5V plug to tablet, tablet starts charging.
Then when I connect a USB Mouse, the tablet STOPS charging after 5 seconds (Not normal behavior).
Then when I remove the USB Mouse, tablet starts charging again (after 10 seconds).
I have tested other tablets with separate DC 5V jack and they do not show this behavior. This is not normal.
Tablets I have tested:
ValuePad VP112
King's Hong Kong H704A
When these above tablets are charging with DC 5V, and then I connect USB Mouse, these tablets do not stop charging like the Cube U25GT is doing.
Has anyone else experienced this type of issue? Has anyone solved it? Are there any custom kernels/system that I could use for this to solve the problem? I don't usually post questions on the forum because I usually find the answers I need after searching for a while, but this has been a baffling situation.
Hopefully someone will answer. Let me know if you have any questions about my issue.
Thanks.

I have the same tablet, and have same problem.
I need to solve this problem, because its important for me.
i use this tablet as a part of multimedia system in my car.
so i cant plug any device via otg to tablet

Sorry for my bad English
Go for another tablet.
Hi,
The short version is: No. I couldn't solve the problem.
I spent about 2 to 3 weeks trying to solve this issue. I started from garnering information on kernel sources for the MTK tablets (the SoC which the Cube tablet is based on), trying to find the source code for it, compiling it and flashing it to the tablet. I tried contacting the people at cube-tablet.com. I spent a lot of time explaining them the problem hoping they would give me some indication as to why this was not working. I spent a lot of time contacting people in various forums who had some exposure to the Cube tablet. But that proved fruitless as well.
In the end, I just gave up. We just experimented with a various other tablets and settled with one that charged as well as worked with OTG.
Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your answer wickedmask.
It was disappointing for me. The whole project was built on this tablet by me.
You can see from the photos below:
There's an interesting variable in build.prop:
# USB Charge only function
ro.sys.usb.charging.only=yes
Have you tried to change it to "no"?

Hi guys, wonder can anyone help me. I purchased a dock for the G Tablet from a company in Chine a few months ago. I only got round to trying it out recently and the results where not good.
The dock charges the G Tablet when the PSU is connected to it, but that is all that it does. The USB port does not work, the pens light up but the G Tab does not see them.
The network port does not do any thing when a cable is plugged in.
The HDMI also does not do anything.
I have tried it with several different versions of Android including the T&T that was on the G Tab originally.
Am I missing something ? Do I need to install certain software of certain Abroid version ?.
It wouldn't usually bother me but the dock cost me over £35 and I do not want to purchase another until I am sure this one does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS Keep up the great work, I love this site and have tried almost every new OS that has been put on it
No specific software should have to be installed. It's supposed to just work, so I'm thinking that it's bad hardware.

I did a search and found that no one has posted this problem on this forum - I'm the only one ??
My prime use to hooked up with my PC with no problems. At some point recently (I'm thinking the recent ICS update) my PC & Prime had a parting of ways. Now I plug in the Prime and get 'USB device not recognized'.
Downloaded and ran Asus Sync hoping that a driver vanished but no luck.
I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit). Has anyone else noticed the same problem and if so - how did you fix it ?
Thanks
I have three computers, and none of them even recognize my prime anymore, not even in Device Manager. This started after I got it back from RMA.
I, myself, am not particularly concerned about it, since I'm just waiting for the Infinity to come out; the Prime I will just pass on to a family member. If the Infinity was going to be released in the far flung future, I'd send it back.

hey everyone, and I'm so happy to see this thread, but have you guys had similar issues to Mines?
Hello Everyone, I'll try to short and to the point. I've been searching xda/google/androidcentral on and off since maybe early Februrary and still nothing, maybe someone has some awesome insight.
So my computer won't detect my TP anymore for file transfer. It did maybe the first month or so though.
Here's what I've tried so far, with no luck.
- Different Computers - Different Cables - New Asus Brand OEM USB Cable - Aftermarket USB Cable - Different USB Ports (Front and Back of Computer) - USB Debugging Mode - Uninstalled Drivers on my PC to try and get table to re-install it. - Factory Reset (multiple times with and without auto-backup) - Connecting From KeyboardDock to Computer
I convinced my cousin to buy a TP and Dock the other week so I also got to try some extra stuff.
- I plugged His TP with His USB cable to His PC and it connected fine.
- I plugged His TP with His USB cable to MY PC and it connected fine.
- I plugged MY TP with His USB cable to His PC and it wouldn't detect.
- I plugged MY TP with His USB cable to MY PC and it wouldn't detect.
I also tried his TP with my USB cables (both oem and aftermarket) on my PC and it connected fine.
Here's Some additional Info, that may be helpful.
I was previously able to connect to my HDMI ports on my TV via micro HDMI, but that does not work anymore either.
I've seen a few people mention serial numbers, so here's some Info, not sure if it's the correct info.
My TP - TF201-B1-CG - S/N starts with a "B" His TP - TF201-B1-GR - S/N starts with a "C"
I thank you all for your time and any insight is much appreciated.
Called ASUS support - I'm the first that they have ever heard that problem. They suggested a factory reset but first I must back the data up. Never done a factory reset, I hope Voodoo will keep the root.
When I finally try it - I'll let you know what happens.
Cool thanks NewbieKeepItSimple, I hope we get this sorted ou!
Hey everyone, I have some more interesting info regarding the USB issue. I didn't want to suspect this as a problem, but yea it looks like it may be an actual bad port on the TFP itself.
My reasoning is that I got my free GPS dongle in the mail today and it won't work. Anyone else test this yet?
Another Question, as far as RMAs go, do we HAVE to call in? Anyone know for sure? I know there's forums, but trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

But you guys are charging fine? Just not connecting to the PC's? Have you had a good look at the connectors both on the cable and the Prime, nothing obvious? You all have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers right? Or maybe tried the universal naked driver utility?

Yep, charges fine. I couldn't see anything obviously wrong with cables and connectors.
As far as trying universal naked driver, I'm pretty sure drivers aren't the issue since I tried a whole different TFP with the same computers and cables (stated above) and it connected and installed the drivers correctly.

My Prime was sync'd at work with my contacts and I put movies on from my home PC. Now neither PC can communicate with the Prime.
There is somethings with the Prime and USB ports that seem a little goofy. I have a USB memory on my keychain that I use for my work files. One of the things I wanted to do with the Prime is access and work on my files during business trips. The work USB memory is 4GB Fat 32 but the Prime can't see it even though all other computers can see it. Plug in an older 2GB memory - the Prime can see it. Plug in my Apple iPhone - the Prime can see it. Plug in some other USB memories no problem but my work USB is invisible.
I really can't see any reason for the Prime to suddenly become invisible to computers but I will try the factory reset once I get my memory 64GB SDcard next week.

that's so frustrating. factors reset didn't work for me but I'm wishing luck to you.
Ok.. something to try before going directly to wiping your Prime...
First, try plugging it into a different USB port. This will cause the PC to try and load a new driver.
If that fails, click Start, right click on Computer and select Manage. Look for an entry called "Portable Devices" and under that "Transformer Prime TF201".
If you don't have that at all, then the system has failed to identify the device entirely.. try it with another PC (take it to a Best Buy and plug it in.. ). If it fails there, then something has changed in your Prime. If you've flashed the ROM, it's possible that's the problem.
If you DO see the entry, but the PC isn't recognising it - right click on the entry for the Prime and select 'Uninstall'. On the dialogue box that pops up, check "Delete the driver software for this device" and let it do its thing.
Unplug the Prime, then plug it back in. It should download a new driver for the Prime. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
I've never heard of an Android device's ADB USB port failing - it's entirely possible of course - but we have five here.. which is pretty amazing.

I'm not holding out much hope either but who knows. The ASUS is rooted but I haven't flashed anything. Another tack I tried is using the just the tablet then keyboard connection but both give the same results.
If I'm connecting to two different spots that on the Prime (dock/Tablet) and there are two different interfacing chip sets involved. Maybe it is a software bug that is screwing up how the Prime addresses the USB (protocol).

hmm even if it was 2 different chip sets it'd still have to go through the main one. it'd be great if it was software based issue

Hello. Today I have made terrible mistake when trying to turn on a device in my pc. I have changed the voltage from my source power and my pc has exploded. Luckly, only the power supply has exploded in fact, like all other things are working and I'm typing this now on my pc. However the integrated sound card from my motherboard have stop working, don't get recognized even when I try to uninstall and re-install. I think it have damaged...
Well, this sucks, but while I don't spend a few bucks trying to get a cheap off-board sound card, I was thinking if there are any way to make a android device sounds like a USB offboard sound card. I have searched in web and XDA for a answer, but always I get the solution using wifi. I already get this working, but has a small lag, and this is uncomfortable. Others resolutions always use some kind of kernel change or/and OTG support with the device.
TLDR: Now, this is my question: Someone has managed to send the audio from the PC via USB for a android in a device (like a off-board USB sound card), and this could be possible without kernel changes or OTG? (My Moto E don't support OTG, unfortunately)
PS: Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my unlucky story.
Hello everyone,
I have a lenovo P8 Tab 3 with the lineageOS 14.1 rom of highwaystar_ru and I needed to make a change in the kernel, can anyone help me?
I will use the tablet in the car and I need to have the power on as well as the easycap by usb for the reversing camera
With the otg cable I can have both things working, but the problem is that as soon as I turn off the car and the tablet runs out of power when I reconnect it it detects the easycap and does not sense the power, forced to remove the cable and reconnect to re-energize
I tried a thousand and one things without success, already tried to change the kernel itself but I end up having many errors because I'm not sure what I'm doing
thank you so much
if anyone can help me I'm willing to make a donation, thanks

Hi there,
I'm not sure what the problem is I think it might be the camera or maybe lack of power.
However it might not be the Kernal. The camera might be using higher power than that the tablet is giving out which might explain the power problem yet I am not sure.
Hi, thanks for the reply. From what I have researched the problem is not this.
What I need is the simultaneous charging + OTG connectivity tablet, something like Nexus 7 is possible with the version of the kernel timurs

Hi there,
At 4pda, they are writing, that some PX5 units have troubles with WiFi/USB below 0°C.
It looks like my Witson unit (MX2 MCU, PX5, Android 8) suffers from exactly this problem. The last days we had warm temperature and USB and WiFi worked perfectly.
Now I went outside and the issues are back. It's 0°C now here!
Can anyone confirm this issue?
At 4PDA, they suggest a fix by adding a screw-whole + screw to better fix the proccessor unit:
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=883219&view=findpost&p=77467642
It looks like the processor unit is only fixed by 2 and not 3 screws and especially the two most outside pins, which are responsible for wifi and usb suffer from loosing contact with cold temperature.
I'm keen on trying to hardware fix. But I'd like to know if someone has experience with this?
Christian
Seems like a easy issue to check for and then apply if your unit has this issue. You might help others by testing the solution and posting result/images.

I now read the whole post in an ugly into german translated version.
The theory with the processor unit is not confirmed, the people over there discuss about powering issues for the usb ports, temperature-related problems etc. No finally confirmed fix seems availbale yet.
As my unit is less than two weeks old, I am claiming warranty. At least I purchased trough an UK dealer with paypal, so first I hope for a replacement.
If I don't make progress with that, I'll open the unit and look for the issue.
If someone elso would have a confirmed working fix, I'd try it.

There's another thread where a few of us have been researching this problem. The fix is posted HERE. There's no need to open the unit.
There's links in that thread to the 4pda forums where they explain what the issue is also. Long story short, it ends up being a manufacturing defect relating to the USB host controller. Newer versions of the board don't have this problem. But I can confirm the above fix does work like a charm, I've tested it several times.

If anyone is still interested in a hardware fix, my KSP units have a 5-pin IC for USB current limiting and I found if the part is cooled, the USB will not turn on when it wakes up. I replaced one with a TPS2001DDBVT, same package and pinout but better specs. It passed the bench test. I haven't gotten around to installing the HU yet.
Update: I installed the unit with replaced ic, and it behaved differently, though not yet correctly.
It's worth noting, a Dasaita HU which has not exhibited the low-temperature wifi issue has the same USB hub chip, but a different (much larger) crystal attached.
I installed the newer usb hub chip as mentioned in the other thread. No more low temperature problems, however if I reboot the unit via software (with a rooted app), the wifi does not come on. One must reboot with the reset hole. Do not try this while driving.

Hi
I have the same problem on my Dasaita bought on september 2018!
which upgrade do you suggest? hardware or software?
the problem occurs only with the dab module connected to the cable with 2 usb, while the single USB cable, which I connected the 4G wi-fi router, always works.
If I will installed the hal9k ROM, could I fix the problem?
thanks

I'm going for HW repair. I've ordered GL852 sop28 from ALiexp (0,55+3,4USD shipping).
Dasaita knows about problem with GL850, but they proposed to replace chip by myself or to send them SOM board and wait till they resend it back. well, i'm definitelly not happy with their response.
I hope that replacing USB hub will solve at least one other problem - random unmounting usb drives and problems with copying files from usb to sd-card.

I used a soldering iron beacuse I din't had a hot air station.
