[Q][Kernel]Flashing Kernel - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
Will flashing Stock Kernel for Z2 fix my issue with charging when phone is off? (it now reboots all the time i plug in the cable)
Or will this cause a soft/hard-brick??
I was advised to use a different kernel, but I dont know.
Best, bjorn96
PS: my phone has CM11 ROM

You can't use stock kernel with cm and cm based roms

Doormlords kernel is ment for stock based roms only, not cm based.
Thats why you get bootloop
But I think the charging issue is a bug.

[Q] Help, Only CM based roms work.

Hi!
I have SE Neo, I unlocked BL an flashed CM 7.1, everything worked good.
Later I noticed it didn't support HDMI, so I restored my old backup, didn't work freeze at SE logo, later I tried to flash SE Tweaked 8.5 Tom same thing, and of course I wiped all before flashing.
Now I have went back too CM works nice. But I want HDMI to work.
What can I have done wrong? Is the simpliest way to solve this using flashtool and stock rom?
Try flashing with the flashtool.
Kernel has to be dooms or inteks not cm kernel

Xperia S unofficial CM9 with other kernels

Hi,
My apologies. I cannot post this in the development thread, so I am opening this thread.
I have flashed DoomLorD's kernel (v0.3). Can I use it with the CM9 ROM or do I have to flash the kernel specified there (which by the way, I cannot find in the .zip)?
Thank you.
Yes you can use it...but the fxp is still not stable enough...a lot of features have been disabled

Both the kernels are the same

You may not be able to post in the dev thread bit you can read it.

Well, I tried flashing it with the DooM kernel, but it didn't work.
Got stuck in boot loop.
Where can I get the CM9 kernel from?

Can you explain how you flashed CM9 on your Xperia S?
I don´t know how you got It to work but I thought CM9 is a ICS Rom so you can´t use it with a kernel which is made for 2.3 GB ?!?
Or am I wrong?

That's what I was thinking as well...
Since it's ICS based, it shouldn't have worked with Doom's kernel
No idea how he got it to work...not even sure why he even wants to put on CM9, since there is no data yet

Seriously, go and read the fxp thread on how to flash the kernel, it's in the first post. if you want doomlord kernel read his thread but use stock.
If you can't read, get off xda - you'll end up breaking your phone.

I think the installation package for CM9 will flash also the CM kernel included.
Maybe not sure.

I don´t know, but in that case he should have recognized that there is no "DoomLord" Bootlogo...

boot problem after first reboot

Hi to all friends,I have a big problem.
I have neo with open boot loader, I had miui v4 Rom and yesterday tried to install optimax2.0 .I didn't like the Rom and I wanted to return to miui again with new install, after finishing aroma installation phone rebooted but it hanged on miui boot screen,I reinstalled again with complete wipe the phone boot normally but after first reboot it hanged again on miui bootscreen, I installed Xperia T v5.5 but it hanged again on first restart,
I don't understand why it hangs on first restart?please help me

try a diff kernel first..if that doesnt work..then
start from scratch..check if this happens with official ICS..if it does, then its prolly kernel related i guess..reflash kernel..

I am not sure because I never used a miui Rom but if I remember correct most or all miui roms are based on cm.
And cm needs special kernels. So flash a proper kernel than the rom and all should be fine.

hi dear friend, the miui Rom was stock based ICS Rom build 587 from Sony, it is not cm based

I usually use night elf v1.5 or 1.4 kernel, they worked with miui fine before this problem,
You mean I flash a stock Rom and then check the problem?
My bootloader is unlocked ,isn't it dangerous?

Ok learned something new.
Till now I only knew from miui roms that come cm based. Thats the reason I never tried one.
For me there is only one good cm Rom and thats the old good cm 7.2

What should happen?
Your bootloader stays unlocked. You will get stock kernel back but you can flash back night elf kernel.
If you flash stock Rom with an ftf file you can exclude the kernel and your currently flashed kernel will stay.

KitKat and touch not working

Hi
Friend of mine own neo v and he want to try new roms.
We tried custom ics, jb and everything was fine.
But we cant make kitkat works, any rom we try, any kernel we use, the touchscreen is not working.
It is possible to open everything what can be open using only hardware buttons, but thats all.
In recovery everything is fine, just roms.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
