A little knowledge
KDZ is the official format that uses LG to update their devices.
Each device has different content, in this case, the LG P700 (L7) contains a DLL and a DZ file.
DLL is a library and the DZ is a tablet in a series of files, which are known as firmware BIN.
A series of tools which I list below are needed to be able to compile a ROM:
All these programs run in Windows
- DZCreate packaging DZ (Copsfrance) archives
- DZDecrypterr unpacks DZ (Copsfrance) archives
- UpTestEX compiles files KDZ. (to make it work first should run windows_enable and activate it)
First of all, with the help of DZCreate package archive DZ, follow the instructions in Copsfrance
PROCEDURE
Here I will try to explain how to create a firmware flasheable in format KDZ for LG P700 L7, L3, L5, or any device with this structure.
We will use the program UpTestEX, this serves to create a KDZ file and also for flashing or test firmware.
We will have to have created the folder structure, only to have an order, this is the same that suggested us Serj
c:\newFW\
c:\newFW\apps\ (where have all the applications and programs)
c:\newFW\OUT\ (where will be stored to the created firmware, eye that will erase that contains)
c:\newFW\Source\ (where we have un-compile and custom firmware)
c:\newFW\Temp\ (this is obvious, temporary directory)
COMPILING KDZ

}
1-. Select the Flash system, for the L700 select 3GQCT
2-. Work Directory: will have to put the path where to save the created KDZ firmware
3-. Version: the name of the version that we are going to compile.
4-. Select model.dll: the path and name of the DLL for the phone, this is extracted from a Stock KDZ, for the L7 is QCT_P700_20120706.dll
5-. Click on the arrow next to Add and select DZ and add archive DZ
6-. Mark Merge 250-390MB size file:
7-. Now click on Merge to compile the firmware in a file KDZ
That's it, I hope it helpful.
Hello Homero,I have a little problem....When Opening UpTestEXOriginal, the program starts but it does not let me do anything, all entries are blocked and I can't do nothing...why? Running all as admin
To run UpTestEX, first you should run windows_enable and activate it. Activated by clicking on the icon of the 3 window that appears next to the clock in the taskbar.

Partition backups (usually taken with dd) are the same no natter the extension (img, bin, or even no extension).

tried with these, but fastboot seems useless, it says
Code:
sudo fastboot erase laf

Code:
sudo fastboot flash laf laf.bin
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'laf' (16896 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.678s]

do you have some suggestion for me how to flash these?
Are you sure you cant get in download mode?
Pull out the battery for a few seconds, put it back in, hold the Vol+ , then insert a USB cable to your PC and the other end to your phone (while holding Vol+)
Make sure that the USB is capable of data transfer, not just charging.

Do you mean that the NAND chip was wiped?
It can't be, because if it was then the device wouldn't turn on at all.

If nand chip is wiped/destroyed, the phone will boot a stub fastboot from the chipset, like a "last resource"
And i'm sure nand is gone, since when i put the phone in qhs loader and i checked the nand, It said " dimension 2TB".... Which is the max value that a nand chip could ever have... And It is for sure really too big for this phone

If it was destroyed, then it wouldn't start at all.
There are probably more reasons to it, but the first one I can think of is that the aboot partition (secondary bootloader) would be gone and it would only show an empty battery warning, if anything.
When this broken fastboot 'mode' shows up, it means that the dtb of the partition you are trying to boot is faulty, possibly along with the rest of the partition.
dtb holds the device drivers, I believe.
So, the NAND chip is probably good.
How to Extract System.img to get a system dump
Step 1
Download This
Extract It To Your Desktop
Place your "system.img" in the "SVAImgUnpack" Folder
Open windows search and type "cmd" then drag cmd.exe into the "SVAImgUnpack" Folder.
Step 2
Run cmd.exe from the SVAImgUnpack Folder
Type "SVAImgUnpack C:\Users\YourUsername\Desktop\SVAImgUnpack\system.img"
When it has finished you will see you have "system.ext4.img" now in the folder too.
Step 3
Run "ext2explore.exe" as Administrator
File > Open Image
Select your new "system.ext4.img" and Open
You can now right click the file and press 'Save' and it will extract all of the system.img
OR
You can double click the file and browse the system.img and right click/save single folders/files
The old method with "Ext4Unpacker" does not work anymore.
The new method uses "SVAImgUnpack"
I just used this method on the N950N Korean system.img and it works fine.
This is a very useful tool for ROM Developers or anyone just wishing to snag a couple files from a foreign firmware.

How to Extract System.img to get a system dump
Step 1
Download This
Extract It To Your Desktop
Place your "system.img" in the "SVAImgUnpack" Folder
Open windows search and type "cmd" then drag cmd.exe into the "SVAImgUnpack" Folder.
Step 2
Run cmd.exe from the SVAImgUnpack Folder
Type "SVAImgUnpack C:\Users\YourUsername\Desktop\SVAImgUnpack\system.img"
When it has finished you will see you have "system.ext4.img" now in the folder too.
Step 3
Run "ext2explore.exe" as Administrator
File > Open Image
Select your new "system.ext4.img" and Open
You can now right click the file and press 'Save' and it will extract all of the system.img
OR
You can double click the file and browse the system.img and right click/save single folders/files
The old method with "Ext4Unpacker" does not work anymore.
The new method uses "SVAImgUnpack"
I just used this method on the N950N Korean system.img and it works fine.
This is a very useful tool for ROM Developers or anyone just wishing to snag a couple files from a foreign firmware.

Thank you very much for this great guide. I have used it successfully on both a Note 8 and Note 10.
However, now with Android 11, something seems to have changed and I cannot extract the CSC I need. Here is the procedure I used, perhaps someone can see where I went wrong.
I downloaded the firmware from Sammy, and unzipped the file to obtain CSC_OMC_OYN_N986UOYN1CTL2_CL20412913_QB36415794_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
WinRAR was able to open the above. Inside the above, I see omr.img.lz4 and I can extract it.
.\lz4.exe -d omr.img.lz4
Code:
> .\lz4.exe -d omr.img.lz4
Decoding file omr.img
omr.img.lz4 : decoded 53360 bytes
>
I then see a file omr.img
.\SVAImgUnpack.exe omr.img
Code:
> .\SVAImgUnpack.exe omr.img
SVAImgUnpack - Unpacker img to ext4. Version 2.1 from 30.04.2013
----------------------------------------------------------------
Source file: omr.img (file size = 53,360 bytes)
Destination file: omr.ext4.img
Unpacking ...
Reading: 53,360 bytes, Writing: 20,971,520 bytes
Unpacking successfully done!
Press any key ...
>
I then see a file omr.ext4.img
.\ext2explore.exe product.ext4.img
It seems to open it, but I cannot extract anything, here is the error in the log:
Code:
Partition Table Error on D:/Bruce/Desktop/Android/lz4/omr.ext4.img
Invalid End of sector markerBlock size 4096, inp 1280, inodesize 256
Inode 2 with file size 0
Linux Partition found on disk 1 partition 0
Any assistance on what I am doing wrong would be most appreciated!
Can confirm that ext2explore it works with Android 12 custom ROMs.

You replace the picture you want to change with yours and name it as the already to be replaced. then you run the script and the image is created which you can flash

Made a generator available in the browser:
https://krzys.github.io/K20/index.html
If you don't select some image it'll use stock image.
Don't use images larger than 1080x2340.
Supported files: PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF (non-animated), HDR, PSD, TGA, PIC, PGM, PPM.
Edit: should even work on mobile phones... and runs faster than before
