I've noticed a recent problem with my razr that I've had for about a month. It now doesn't charge from my car charger, which is the Verizon branded one with two USB sockets.
The charger works for other phones and devices. It also doesn't charge while docked in a speaker I have with a micro USB dock. it does charge when plugged into the wall with stock or non-stock wall charger. I'm running a stock ROM, .748 update, and the big dx ics theme. First noticed the problem two days ago, before I had loaded that theme with boot strap. Reboot doesn't fix it.
Had anyone else experienced this or heard about it? Any ideas on fixing it?

only issue i had with this is when the USB is already charging something and i go to charge the Razr. it would charge for a few mins then it would display 'disconnected' on the Razr and say that it's not charging..but then a few mins later it would start charging and do the whole 'disconnected' thing all over again
It will charge when its usb to PC but not wall.
Anyone have the problem before and know if its fixable?
Tried 2 different Cables that worked before also will try again when home with official charger.
The wall charger will be the problem most likely since most cells use 500mha to charge and the ATRIX charger uses upto 1000mha the ATRIX wount even recognize a charge cycle with less then 600 mha

I think this is a new behavior but can't say for sure. Many times I'll plug my Razr Maxx into a microUSB cable plugged into a wall socket with an adapter and the indicators will show that it is being charged. In reality, though, no matter how long I leave it plugged in it does NOT charge. Then I can change out to a different wall socket based-USB adapter and a different microUSB cable and the Razr Maxx WILL charge, will charge fairly rapidly and will charge to 100%. Other than trial and error I can't predict which adapters and microUSB cables will work and which ones won't. My Maxx IS up to date, it IS rooted and it is NOT on any form of ICS. I've tried clearing caches, powering it down for a bit and then back on, letting it discharge to under 20% and don't think any of those things improved my success rate. I have many devices that use microUSB cables for data and for charging so I've got a pile of random cables and adapters. Why will some charge the Razr Maxx and some not?
two point:
1.charger was marked the charging current.Maybe 900ma is great.
2.your phone battery bar.If the phone battery bar is empty, it means the battery voltage is low than 3.75 or less.In this condition, the charging current 900ma can not charge to your phone battery.because it maybe broken your phone, the charger internal protect circuit is enable. so, you can not charge your phone any more.but you can use the moto factory cable to charge(AT FIRST ONLY USE PC 500ma for pre-charging).
Is it safe to charge a Motorola Droid Razr with a LG charger which has the following specs:
Output: 4.8V-1A
I mean, will it be safe for the battery like its life and other things?
Standard USB chargers should work with all phones with microusb

No, definitly not. Motorola oem charger is 5.1V and 850 mA. You might not notice anything wrong with the batttery in short term but it might cause damage in long term. Plus, motorola have never been the brand that offered compability to other brand accessories.
well this is depressing to read, the charger that came with my razr a year ago was lost about a year ago. i've used probably 20 different usb chargers from different phones but all were older so i assumed the lower amps / volts wouldn't hurt anything, that only a higher amps / volts could potentially harm the battery.
i do remember the charger that came with it had 2 usb ports on it but it was so weak that it could never charge a second device plugged into it
No dude, if it's higher, the phone will only pull the amount necessary. USB is a universal standard. You're fine, no need to worry. If something uses MicroUSB, then it's universal. USB= Universal Serial Bus. Your phone is safe
Edit: For the record, when I had the Droid RAZR, I used everything from the stock OEM charger, to Samsung and everything in between, including an LG charger.
Hey people,
It doesn't mean it's safe to use another brand chargers if your phone didn't get any kind of damage. My xt910's digitizer went weird after i had to charge it for 30 minutes with a genuine htc charger. My atrix's digitizer didn't work while it was plugged into a nokia micro usb oem charger. A motorola phone should be charged with an oem motorola charger, not a stupid lg charger. Micro usb itself is a standart but it doesn't mean you can use anything that fits into the slot safely !
Your phone will be fine

I think it will be fine, I charge my phone with my sister's Galaxy Nexus charger and nothing has happened so far.
USB always uses around 5 volts and the 1A means that your battery will charge faster than using the regular 850mAh motorola charger.

Mine too. I don't touch my moto charger these days.
Hello all,
Anyone tried the 5600 mAh external battery from Power Bank with the Razr MAXX?
I know the story with "charge the maxx only with its own charger" but I do not really know the specific parameters of the charger or if this external battery can damage battery life. From what I know the original charger has output of 5V/850mAh and this one 5V/1A. But I do not know if this can have a bad impact on the battery. For me, all batteries and microUSB charger are standard. So it should be no problem. The story with original one is just "marketing" for Motorola to sell its own accesories.

I have been charging my Maxx with many wall chargers beside the OEM one for over a year now. I've used the one that came with my Nook, the one that cane with my HTC Droid Incredible, and a couple of others. No problems on that front.
I also own a portable battery charger device (10,000 mAh one by Anker) and use it on a regular basis since December. No problems so far with it.
