Thank you, this method worked perfectly for me using ODIN 3.09 to flash a UK ROM on a Korean watch.
To me too! Very easy method!
hi guys
works too
thanks
RTFM
I tried this for ages to change my Chinese version to UK version, I was having trouble loading the new Navigator app from Move on the Chinese version.
So, I read the instructions, but not all the way lol, AFTER choosing the download method of starting up, remember to press the button again for about 2 seconds, or it doesn't work.
After reading the effing manual on the webpage, I realized my mistake.
I am a tech, and it is common to skip reading all instructions, this time I wasted an hour, hopefully you guys will not be as daft as me.
i dont get it. i used the steps from that link, ..i arrived at the step where "Keep pressing the key until you see the screen turning off and turning on with a message “Rebooting…”
after that "Once you see this message, stop the continuous pressing and now hit the same Home button for 2-3 times until the Download / Recovery mode screen appears. "...i stop when DOWNLOAD or RECOVERY is blue, but the watch restarts, and enters in menu without any change.. and ODIN stops at "SETUP CONNECTION"..
can anybody posts the steps? thank you.
i just found the answer watching this video:
i have to press again for a couple of seconds the home button to choose DOWNLAOD.
Noob questions... sorry
I just received a watch from Hong Kong.
What are the implications if I flash to a UK ROM? Specifically I'd like to understand the following:
(1) When Samsung release OTA software updates (I assume they do this for watches as well as phones?) will I miss them and need to again manually load the software?
(2) Is my warranty with Samsung void?
(3) What are the differences between a 'genuine' UK watch and an import? So far I can only see the pre-installed Navigation app is in Chinese. If that's the only difference I think I'll avoid messing around with the watch
Thanks in advance for your patience!
Hi . I bought my samsung gear s from a North Korean ebayer and also was interested in flashing with UK rom . I contacted Samsung UK service ( operates through carphone wharehoise ) and basically this is what they told me :-
Firstly they wont help or do it for me ( not even at a charge )
If i do it they will not restore if i brick it
My warrantly will be void
Not very helpfull at all . This is my first post guys and i'm a bit of a novice so any help appreciated .
Details of my device :-
Samsung gear s black
Bought from North Korean Ebayer
Model No - SM-R750
Software version - R3AFA039VR
Thanks in advance
I reckon the compass on yours is playing up, for a start
Hopefully we'll get some experts respond but at the moment I'm erring on the side of leaving mine as a Hong Kong original.
Is your keyboard ok for responding to texts/emails/etc? I found mine was stuck on a Chinese keyboard until I switched my *phone's* language from English (UK) to English (US). Only then could I select an English keyboard on the watch.
Keyboard was fine as soon as i switched to English . Forgot to mention Samsung Service UK said they will only look after European Warrantys ? And under no circumstances will touch / repair / flash none European Gear S ?
I bought gear s by a chinese rom so idecided to update my rom to my regional one
I downloaded odin and firmware as mentioned in sammobile page
and did the rest, now in downloading mode and after starting odin I am stuck for about two hours and nothing happened
here is odins dashboard:

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S II in China, after checking that it was a genuine model (comparing weight, software operating speed ...). When I came home I realised it didn't come with the Google Applications we're used to in the West: Street View, Android Market (there is a Chinese version but I cannot read it), GMail. I cannot set up a Google Account Synchronisation either... This is all part of China's boycott against Google.
So I figured I could flash firmware from another region onto my phone and get access to all those apps and functionalities I'm used to.
However.
1. I loaded the following file from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9100.htm :
2. I9100XXKG3 (MULTI - CSC - OXAKG3), this seemed to be the latest gingerbread firmware.
3. I had Odin load all the required files, flashed everything and - blamo:
Fail! After restarting my phone I merely get a red android with a yellow exclamation mark with "Software Update Fail" beneath it. (and something in Chinese)
I tried reflashing several times, but without success. What can I do? Is it possible that I cannot flash over Chinese firmware? Anyone else out there?

Update: I've reflashed the original and it works again. But I'm still stuck with the Chinese software
The firmware came as one .tar file: I9100ZNKG5_I9100ZNKG5_I9100OZHKG5.tar
Any ideas?
I have same problem
It's my dad's galaxy s 2 and I promised him that I will upgrade the phone, so that it will have google applications. I went to the firmware.com and got one of the firmware for GT-i9100 (galaxy s II) and used Odin to flash the firmware (with .pit file). But unfortunately, it failed and the phone is now stuck on the red screen that says "software update fail" and sth in Chinese on the bottom. Later, I found out that the phone was i9188 (a variant of i9100) and I'm so screwed because it's my dad's phone...
I can't go on download mode nor on recovery mode... So... I'm not sure how you reflashed the original firmware... Can you tell me how you did it? I need to fix it ASAP or my dad will kill me... Lol...
hi guys, did u guys put in the pit file also when u flashed using odin? usually its not needed to flash the pit file
I used pit file because the website told me to...
the pit file was sth like EXT4.pit
and now I can't get rid of the red "software update fail" screen... no download mode... no recover mode either...
Can someone plz help me?

jig is to make u enter download mode if the normal 3 button combo does not work for you, then under download mode u can reflash then should solve the problem
Thanks for telling me what jig is, amiruleffendy.
Thankfully, I don't need to use a jig but the problem is I can't find a stock firmware for GT-I9188...
does anyone know where I can get stock firmware for GT-9188?
or
can anyone tell me where I can find any other chinese sgs2 stock firmware that works on i9188?

The boots on Chinese phone reject none Chinese firmware.
Would it be bad to say I'm glad that I'm not the only chump that this happened to?
So, first off, thank you for posting this. After googling your firmware rev, I realized that I could actually get into "samfirmware"... which looks pretty official for Samsung firmware releases... and I'm guessing is. Anyway... got it back to China-mode, which is still better than my back t-mobile crackberry.
I had gotten well past the red droid pic with my brick. I could get into download mode tho. Some things I picked up on that might help others:
1) I was using the wrong version of Odin. You have to use 1.85.
2) Kies was still running in the background and lots of people say to kill the process before running Odin.
3) Before seeing this thread, I tried downloading and installing "One-Click Unbrick". Bad idea for my purposes, as Odin failed to work afterwards. I had to use Kies to reinstall the USB drivers and that, for some unknown reason to me, took about an hour and a half.
So, A question:
If this is an Asian hardware variant, then there is some likelihood that the Singapore version might work on it. Singapore, having spent some time there, is a fairly western society. I'd wager it would be open to using Google Apps. Has anybody looked into this or attempted to install that firmware? [CSC = OLBKE5 / I9100XWKF1]
I'm reluctant to 'just try it' as it has a new kernel in the download package and I'm at a loss as to how to use Odin to update that.
Any help on getting this resolved will earn you a beer the next time you're in San Diego.
if the bootloader is locked to chinese firmware only, i doubted that a singapore version firmware would work on the phone.
I think the only way we can use other roms on this chinese variant phone is to crack the boot.bin file to accept other firmwares? I hope Intratech can answer this.
PS: I bought the china variant phone as well.

Its not a variant as such since the HW is 100% the same, just the boots reject none Chinese firmware.

Thats not as easy as it sounds since all the boots are signed.
Instead of flashing I9188 rom on my phone... I accidently flashed chinese I9100 stock firmware... during the process odin crashed and I got the "Black Screen of Death" (totally bricked)
Luckily my dad works at samsung, so he sent it back to get it fixed.
Anyways, europe or other firmwares cannot be flashed over sgs2 chinese variant phones...
I guess I just have to get an sgs2 international model...
Hi all,
My GS3 (International version) is on a constant boot loop. I was browsing the internet and then it crashed into a loop, The phone was getting on my nerves abit as i was constantly having to reboot just to use it...but this time it crashed on me for good (Yes it was rooted on firmware 4.1.1)
I managed to get into CWM and wipe all data, then get into Download mode and flash a stock rom via ODIN.
All seemed to be going well, ODIN said PASSED and the phone rebooted.
Then i got the little green android robot with the blue spinning box in the middle of him/her....Boots back to initial start up screen, then little green android, then intitial start up etc etc etc....Never leaves these screens.
I cannot enter recovery nor can i enter download mode. There is nothing i can do to stop this.
I have tried repeatadly taking out the battery and puttin back in but no results.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance

After much playing around i managed to get back into DOWNLOAD mode...Unfortunatly no matter which STOCK rom i put on i can never get past the initial loading screen where it states my Phone device name/brand etc. Someimes i get to the little android with the spinning blue square in its belly...But then it loops again.
Ive tried about 6 different fimwares now, all stock.
Ive managed to put CWN on them too and done the whole WIPE DATA/DELVIK cache...but nothing changes!
Help please
I am in a right pickle now, Any help would be really really really appreciated. Feel gutted!

This is the troublesome part..in your flashing frenzy you have somehow corrupted the partition layout...now try flashing the 3 part method..search for it..you will need to use mx.pit to repartition you flash memory..tread cautiously and do only what you understand..
Why do people use Odin??????? Still escapes me

When i enter DOWNLOAD mode on my GS3..prior to pressing volum up i have a small yellow triangle, but it still allows me to go on. Prior to Download mode i can only get as far as the initial boot screen.

OK what ssn is listed under the battery .
Its pointless proceeding until the model is confirmed as your symptoms are identical to flashing wrong firmware .

Out of interest is there anything i need to do to the phone prior to sending it back?

You can try to flash PIT file but it seems to me its partition is dead, however as well as all remaining partitions. Now only motherboard changeover

Hi, did you manage to get yours solved?
I have the exact same problem i was on a custom samsung 4.1.2 rom and while browsing the net it crashed was in bootloop now i cant get out, went into recovery mode and factory reseted didnt help, now i cant go back into clockwork mod at all, so i went into download mode and opened odin flashed a stock rom just keeps saying fail after nand write, tried a custom rom and same issue and fails, now when i pull the battery out and turn it back on all i get is a message saying firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again! Helppppp!
Thankss
Contact Samsung, or seller, will need to be repaired under warranty.
In all that did you even try using kies to get back to original rom?
Even if it's rooted? Thanks

At some point in the phones life I must have flashed a stock att because now I can't return to stock I717M. ODIN MODE say I am using a Product: SGH-I717 : Instead of the intended SGH-I717M. I am investing the time because the phone is crashing imminently and/or immediately after a odin stock flash.
Oddly enough my Product numder and SN: are coming back with an error in Kies aswell. At this point I am flashing in circles :silly: and really just want to start from the lowest common denominator for this phone as a base with proper .pit and CSC ... etc. so this is 100% official stock I717M and all the threads I read are resolved by standard flashing protocol but not mine!
Many of the automated flashes that you just drop on the PDA line cause issues in stock recovery mode by missing the CSC and I can't account for all the crashing. Perhaps SOMEHOW finding my way back to "M" will do this ? I think... : )
Thanks ahead of time everyone for your help :good:

Thanks for the quick reply ... I have done this though and receive an error with the .pit file.
I am using ODIN 1.85 it starts the process and ends in error. The phone reads SECURE CHECK FAIL : PIT
But unlike the individual in the thread I have a more serious issue because I am using a I717M and using this method and receiving the error he had with a mismatched phone !?! This to me indicate somehow my phone thinks it's a i717( ) not a I717M. Kies sees only a I717 and when I force a "Firmware and Upgrade Initialisation" from the menu it stays exactly the same. When I use SGH-I717M and my SN to restore to factory I get : Model name: SGH-I717M : 'SGH-I717M' does not support initialising. All you can click is OK,
Now what ?
Thanks again for the help ...

not that I am a brainchild in this department, or any other for that fact, but I read a lot and have not heard of this one.
I sometimes think if I ask questions, would or could this inspire others to come up with the solution.
have you called your carrier? can they not help you?
have you tried uninstalling drivers and re-installing for Kies purposes? to try an "emergency firmware recovery" (I think that's what it was referred to as)
what modem shows on phone? and can you flash appropriate modem to carrier?
you mentioned PIT file in PDA slot? I have always used .TAR files (maybe same thing, different terminology?)

good luck my friend

I just went to link recommended by the GOAT guy ( sorry for raping your name).
noticed post #1 was titled for BELL and listed files. then I went down and saw post #4 were files for ROGERS. did you notice that?
you didn't say which was your carrier
The only thing I can think of is I had a brick at one point and me and a service tech JTAG'd in the files : could this explain why my phone thinks it isn't a I717M?
I using Mobilicity and a AWS modem/hack
Thanks for advice everyone this is quite the problem and is clearly unresolved as it just wont take the .pit file and if I use the pda/phone part only only the pda will even flash from that post. So no CSC, graveyard, pit... all of which I need.
:crying::crying:
I think this phone is a mess.

Not sure of it make any difference at all.....but I used Odin the other day and it was version 3.0.7 located in this post:

I used it and it proceeded unlike 1.85 but I still have a fail on the PIT : and when I reset and go into download mode it says SGH-I717 and Secure Check Fail: PIT at the bottom: in recovery mode i get a smashed android and a error about a genaric CSC and that it is still using ATT CSC !?!? Also a very concerning error regarding sdcard E: cannot be found ?!? this is new...
Yes and it WILL NOT BOOT '.':crying:
Can anyone confirm too if I should be seeing I717M in odin and recovery modes
At one point I worked with a service tech at the local JTAG shop took us all afternoon but we got it to boot out of a hard brick loopback dongle wasn't working. I THINK he put the ATT kit on my phone from JTAG and that is the problem now ...
Does anyone with a good handle on this stuff know if I can use the feared "NAND ERASE ALL"I am scared but it seems to make sense that is what it is ...
Anyone care to say they agree I have no right to hold anyone accountable and at this point I am running out of optinos ... it would semm..
Sincerely S:silly:
Does not matter what region phone you have. Whether it is att or a Canadian carrier this ROM should install. Did you follow directions in that thread fully? Since you are using a pit you have to select repartition in the check boxes.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I497 using xda premium
Couldn't be more straight forward and I followed the instructions exactly. There were frankly no more than 2 sentences of instructions. Which I followed, regarding the check box for repartition it got selected automatically when you put something on the .pit line. I have not tried without repartition checked. I figure this might be a case for NAND ERASE ALL
See If it takes the csc..and firmware
the partition table shouldn't need flashed, all variants are partitioned the same.
What is up with these canadian variants? There are so many posts about not being able to flash, superuser not taking, modem having to be reflashed. Just don't see this with the ATT version. I wonder if there is another script causing all this....

here we can see odin blazing through without an issue but !! the same .pit error occurs and after reset the system boots to TWRP recovery instead of stock !?!?!! A huge log of errors also occur regarding not being able to find internal storage the TWRP directory and EMMC not formatted or mounted ?!?
When I boot to ODIN it says current binary : CUSTOM ?!
I am really confused now..
I need a couple things answered :
1) does I717(M) varient display the (M) in ODIN when on the proper download mode or do they all say I717 ?
2)When Odin mode says stock binary : Yes (for all intents and purposes is it a mirror copy (modem, boot, recovery, pit etc.) ?
3) If not what is likely different ? (ie how could I send it back for stock repair or resell as the original)
4) Now everything seems to be worse in the sense that every rom is locking and freezing after you click android to start setup after a long wait possibly the second screen it reboots ?
5) in stock recovery I get a Update from RB fota mode now ? how does that work from recovery ? I thought it would need internet access at least.
THANKS EVERYONE :good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
A couple questions for you..... You mention in stock recovery you get "Update from RB fota mode now" but you said earlier that after you install and it reboots you back to TWRP? Now which is it?
Are you installing the stock gingerbread ROM with ODIN when in "Download Mode" on the phone? Hold "Power" and "Volume Down" down. Can you get the phone to boot enough to format the internal (usb) memory? I don't know if that option is available in stock recovery or if it functions correctly in TWRP. This is not the same as a full wipe. I know stud will say it has nothing to do with installing ROMs. But I know 2 people that had a similar issue as you ( 1 being me) and the only way the write would take is if the internal (usb) memory was formatted. This leads me to believe there is some kind of script stored there on Canadian variants.

That is a very intelligent perspective; presently I can say that I got the stock recovery in but only with ODIN 1.85 with phone boot-loader update checked off (gret in the new 3.x versions of ODIN). So I could never get the phone to format without error when using all 5 items
For the record THE ONLY WORKING STOCK SO FAR is :
[Stock ODIN] AT&T Jelly Bean Download
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261598
I found a Stock ODIN JB Bell Download from another site but it froze at every screen during setup until it would just reboot itself (seems like Kernel might be wrong though)
None the less me and all other (1717M)'s are in fact isolated in this condition to ATT stock roms and honestly; to be frank it could explain why I have been frustrated with the blaze modems on this thing since last July when I got it. I have spent days at a time trying to find a modem that wont drop and require a power cycle + 10 minutes to come back online.
Maybe Mr. Goat you are right, maybe me and a bunch of others are literally stuck with a I717 because of lingering scripts, wouldn't surprise me because TWRP was sticking around for a long time until I checked the bootloader format and only in 1.85 oddly enough.
WHAT I think the rational ones reading this should be questioning is why does my Download Mode ODIN read I717 no (M) after all these attempts to wipe and format and when using (M) varient stock roms the phone wont boot and crash like it has the wrong kernel (or modem) fixed with a ATT stock rom (on the surface anyhow). This would be fine if I didn't have a BELL serial number and clearly its something else.
For the extremely advanced I once found a thread (can't for the life of me find it again) where someone managed to change the model of the phone because it got changed I think during a JTAG. This would make sense as I had to do this too. I downloaded an app on the play store which used root and I allowed it to adjust SD-EXT for SD caching (BIG MIS-TAKE) Hard brick was the result. While I was getting help the app would auto execute on startup and time was running short so I imagine he pushed me to ATT stock. I want to make it bell again as my phone crashes a lot and I am not sure if this can even relate to it or not.
THANK YOU EVERYONE I AM VERY GRATEFUL
Did you even try the Odin version for Bell Jellybean?
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213003896/d4f7f24/I717MUGMD1_I717MBMCMD1_BMC.zip.html
Or how about Bell ICS version for odin?
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/163095548/c1447e9/I717MUGLF4_I717MBMCLF4_BMC.zip.html
If you install a stock ATT ROM, the phone will report back as an I717. It has nothing to do with serial number. It has to do with software.
If you can install a stock ROM and it works then immediately format that USB memory and then do a factory reset.
And if your phone crashes alot, try a new battery. You might think it is good but it could be giving an incorrect voltage.
wish i could say this worked as it didn't still stuck without the (m) : using those downloads it loads to black screen have to hold power 15 seconds and it vibrates and back to the black screen...
Hello every one ... I know as a fact that I717M could be hard on patience .. as Bell uses HSPA and LTE instead of 2G and the others .. hard to find the right modem and others.
When i had that problem to revert to stock ... I got the full file for Stock Bell Jellybean (around 700 meg file zip) ... unzipped .. used odin 3.07 (recently seen 3.09 really good too) and placed the .MD5.TAR file into the PDA (called AP in odin 3.09) section .. had just the auto reboot checked and flashed good with it (important that it is the in second line option (the PDA one or AP in odin 3.09)
PS: I had my phone in download mode when flashing as it should ... (reboot holding volume down)
For the customer rom or counter that says you have been a bad boy .. I had to go on the thread for counter reset and that did it ....
hope it will help .. (recently had to do that often as I am trying tons of ROMs)
Cheers

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. I sent my phone to freesamsungrepairs and they refuse to fix my device under warranty since it has been rooted. Can they really tell that it has been rooted or do they base their assumption solely on the "custom" field in Download mode? I shipped the phone without sd card or anything that would tell them the phone is rooted. Can they still tell? Can they maybe read somehow the partially wiped emmc and find traces of superuser and such?
Thak you for your help.

Hii,
I have a problem. I cycled to the gym this morning and I was listening music on my Galaxy S3, Ii took the headphones out, put phone in my bag. 10min. later I looked at my phone and there was a strange message with something about the firmware, don't know what exactly. I couldn't do anything else than shut the phone down, now every time I try to start my phone normaly or in recovery the comes a wierd pattern of colors, most of it is white with some other pixels(look at the attached file), I don't know what it could be.. I think it's maybe something with the screen..
Hope someone can help me..

Try starting the phone in download mode (volume down+home then power). If it gives the same screen then looks like to need a repair center, you could try a USB jig but that screen pattern looks fatal to me.
If it boots to download mode then follow the guide in general, stickies on how to use Odin on your PC to flash a stock ROM.

The PIT-File is not for every S3 the same, right? I need one for the Europe version, so the normal S3 bought in EU but can't find one.
if yours one is of 16gb model than download the GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit.zip file from the attachment, extract it an you will get GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit. For re-partitioning the Galaxy S3 download the pit file from below link and in odin select the re-partition option choosse the .pit file and also your PDA file... and start re-partitioning. hope this works for you.
Note: The above file is only for 16Gb version dont use it if its 32GB or 64GB..
Keep in mind the below things:
GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit = Galaxy S3 of 16 Gb
GT-I9300_mx_20120322.pit = Galaxy S3 of 32 Gb
GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit = Galaxy S3 of 64 Gb
Well, big thanks. It was the 16gb version, but I've tried it but it won't work...

Could it be that my battery is not 70-90%?
I think my phone charges but when plug it in, the same screen appears.
You said that the product name is blank? Then sorry it's an SDS for sure. Send it to Samsung for repair as there's nothing you can do about it.

well battery charge is not a problem because i have even flashed a custom rom when my battery charge was 20%. It would be better if the complete firmware file could be found ( with .pit, .tar.md5). it would be better if you send it to Samsung..
I don't think we can do more than this...
Ok, last try please try using this pit file

The phone is dead like what I told you earlier. If your S3 is on download mode and you see that the product name is blank that means that the eMMC partition is dead. No amount of PIT files can revive your phone. So if you're gonna give it to Samsung just tell them that you got the SDS. If you're out of the warranty period then you'll probably pay for the repair service.
Your situation is exactly the same as this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451728

Things not to say:
1. That you flash a PIT file.
2. You installed a custom rom.
Things to say:
1. Your device had an SDS.
2. Still SDS.
3. Yep. You got it. Still say SDS.
Kidding aside I won't guarantee that they'll buy your alibi since I've haven't visited their service centers for repairs yet (and I hope I won't... ever lol). But most of the service technicians there should know what an SDS is.
SDS is Sudden Death Syndrome if you don't know what that means.

Yes, its enough to tell SDS. you don't need to tell anything like it was rooted, custom rom was used. If it was in warranty period was not over tha nyou can claim them by just telling SDS, since there is no partition, neither the product name. So don't tell them anything about all this, you might be serviced for free.. if the warranty is over you have to pay for the repair service.
Samsung's LIMITED warranty is 24 months from dop.
