Can't get reminders to work - LG G Watch

Hi,
New here, and only just got my G Watch this morning. I've had a search on the forums here, but don't see the issue I'm experiencing mentioned anywhere.
When trying to set a reminder, the watch picks up all the details correctly, such as the time, date and subject of the reminder. It then goes to the "saving" screen, but after that I get a message coming up that says "Sorry, that didn't work. Try again". I've tried this several times now with the same results.
Anyone else experiencing this, or can anyone here share a solution with me?
Thanks.

I hadn't tried setting a reminder via the watch before. However, I experienced the same thing as you did. I speak the reminder and the time and the watch seems to be setting it properly (ie I get a pop up screen with the correct information). But when the watch actually tries to set the reminder, I get the error "Sorry, that didn't work. Try again" just like you did.

I think it's a Google now issue, as the reminders won't work on my phone(M7) or my tablet (nexus 7 2013) either. It's not down to the watch anyway, as far as I can see. I'll have to go into my Google settings to see what could be causing it.

Sometimes it happens to me also but u haven't observed one thing that is even that shows an error in setting a reminder but ur reminder is already set ,to check this set a reminder for next one minute, just ignore the error message that u receive and u will see ur watch reminding u abt ur set reminder, this always happens to me

No, after receiving the error message the reminder does not still appear for me.
After a bit of playing around, I think the issue is with Google Now rather than the phone, and I have been able to set reminder through both GN on the phone and through the watch. How I solved it:
Make sure the reminder is set for a decent amount of time in the future. After a bit of experimentation, I found that if the reminder is to be set for less than 35minutes from now, it will not work. If you set it for 35minutes or longer, it works fine, no problem.
Bit of a weird cut-off time, as you'd imagine the reminder could be set for a shorter period, but at least it's something.

Interesting. When I tried to set a reminder, it was for the next couple minutes in the future, so I guess that is why it failed. Thanks for the update.

It works for me for a test i just set a reminder for next two minutes and the same error came but after 2 mins i got my reminder

Hero on Rogers Canada

I recently purchased my HTC Hero from a local retailer. (I am in Canada)
My problem is with SMS messages. My messages appear in the conversation with the correct time. All my received sms messages are 4 hours behind the actual received time.
Rogers releases a specific fix for the HTC Magic and Dream (Hero is not supported here and I doubt Rogers will make a patch just for me)
I had the same problem with my Xperia X1, that was solved with a quick registry edit.
Any ideas of what I should do?
I assume that your time stamp is 4 hours behind, i had the same problem. just set your time zone to however far behind you need your time stamp to be
Hi, i am having the same problem as you. I am in Canada too
So here are some solutions (not perfect solutions)
you can EITHER install my modified version of smsfixtimes, it will fix the time stamp when you receive messages. Details about the app can be found on the project page http://code.google.com/p/smsfixtimes/ (the original version posted by the author does not work on hero)
problem with this app:
1)the time showed in notifications is not corrected
2)maybe interfere with wifi connection, sometimes you get connection error in Android Market, not sure if the app is really causing the problem
OR if having correct time stamps is not crucial to you, install chompSMS as a workaround, it have a correct threaded view even the time stamps are wrong

Thanks but I actually use my phone as a time piece. Not worth having a messed up time to make my txt messages appear to be correct.
I HATE ROGERS
man this is so frustrating. If it's not the radio signals that need to be changed its registry hacks to make their faulty hardware work proper.
I tried the SMSfix. Doesnt work fer **** on my phone. Fixed all messages and it did nothing.

did you try the one i attached or the one found on market? coz it's working fine on my hero
It isn't working on mine either.
I tried the one you attached. It worked, well sort of. I am now only 2 hours out, instead of 4. So slightly better but definitely not fixed
it's quite simply really
You set your timezone to however far behind your clock is and then you manually manage your time so make sure that automatic isnt ticked off then you just set the time to whatever you want it to be. works for me

my god Tangzq, thank you SO much! That app worked perfectly for me!
This was the only thing that was bothering me about the Hero and I'm glad it's finally fixed!

Worked for about 10 minutes, randomly "unfixed" itself. Times are now off.
How do I install this zipped app?

Turn off all notifications at night?

I am looking for a simple app to automatically schedule my phone to be silent (no notification, no vibration) except for phone calls during the night, with different schedules for weekdays and weekends.
What is my best option?
Thanks
See if there's a version of "Sound Schedule" for Froyo. On 2.1, it does pretty much what you ask for $3.
Actually I just installed and set up timeriffic. Seems to do all I need, I'll test in the next few days. And it's free.
Yep ^^ i was going to suggest timmerific! Locale is another good alternative
I use the free version of Audioguru. Timeriffic's user interface was too confusing for me.
I was going to suggest Tasker. It can do that and a whole ton more.
I also vote for Tasker
I'm going to check out timmerific myself. I'm a Tasker lover, but my wife has zero use for Tasker but her freaking SMS and Email notifications drive me nuts all night, especially when she puts the the phone on the headboard.. blleep bleep bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
In case anyone else has trouble finding it (from the spelling ) here's the appbrain link:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/timeriffic/com.alfray.timeriffic
I have my custom battery profile to turn off data after 15-30 mins and that does the trick at night without having any apps. Might want to look into that.
I use an app called Profile. I have a weekly schedule to adjust volume, bluetooth, wifi, notifications, etc based on time. Has worked flawlessly for almost a year, with plenty of updates & added features.
http ://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.noimjosh.profile
won't let me post a link, because I haven't posted enough. Sorry.

Another vote for Tasker. Although I'm not sure I'd call it "simple".

Thanks to everyone for the vote of confidence re: Timeriffic.
We love hearing your feedback. For the poster who thought it was a bit confusing, as we look to make it better your thoughts are encouraged. We realize it can always be better, though in most cases it runs silently with no need for an interface other than occasional adjustment to a profile. Looking forward to hearing from everyone.
And thank you for using and sharing our little app.
As I said in another thread, I get a lot of use out of "Good Night!". You can set it to receive phone calls only and even narrow it down to who can call in. Set it to happen during certain hours and certain days of the week.
Phone Schedule
I wasn't satisfied with available apps, so i decided to write my own app that would do all the volume/wifi switching and other stuff automatically according to my own schedule. Several weeks ago i uploaded "Phone Schedule" to google play. It's free and free of ads as well.
Another Scenario
OK, I would love to find a way to turn off all notifications, with the exception of one app. My wife has a weather app installed and wants to use the weather alerts for that app at night but we don't want any other notifications coming across. Is there an easy way, or app, that will do that? I've not been very successful at figuring this stuff out in Tasker. Tasker looks extremely useful but the couple of minutes I get per day to look at it, I just can't get what I want to work.
Thanks
+1 for Tasker
I have mine set on silent at night, but I've also got a list of "VIP" numbers set up that it will allow through.
That's fine, but I'm not talking about cell numbers. That's a different ballgame all together, IMHO.

I think you may be confused. I was replying to OP question.

Notification sound cuts off . . .

Hey all
Like title says everytime I get a text the notification sound plays for like 1 second then goes off.
Had the phone since release day and it hasn't done that before.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Have you enabled Sound+Vibrate? I found that the SMS notification sound was cut to be the length of the vibration - got around it by creating a new, longer vibration (handy feature that).

Yeah I have got vibration on . . .how do I make a longer vibrate for text message??
Settings > Sound > (Ringtone & notifications) Device vibration > then create a new one. After hitting create, keep pressing the screen to get the length or number of vibrations you want.
same here ...
I'm having the same issue with my new S3. I have created a longer vibration pattern as you suggested, and this seems to fix it for stock notification sounds. But if I try to use one from Zedge for example, it happens again.
I'm going to assume this is a bug they are going to fix the 'inspired by nature' sounds are ok, but I'd like to be able to set my own - with vibrate activated.
Will keep an eye on this thread, and update if I hear anything. Cheers.
---------- Post added at 11:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 AM ----------
still happening here stock sound or not ... hopefully patched soon :-( .... I was beginning to wonder if it's related to any of the apps I have installed, but unlikely as this happened right after a factory reset with no non stock apps installed .... (**I had imported my SMS history from a backup**)
Ok ... so a little more diggin found this on another forum ...
I figured it out, figured I'd post in case someone else comes looking for the same information.
For me, SMS's were causing this. Specifically the problem occurs when conversations began to get very long. I realised after a friend SMS'd me and it played the sound perfectly fine, but cut off while playing it when my partner SMS'd me.
TL;DR: Caused by long conversation history for whatever reason, delete messages to remove the notification issue.
i deleted the long history between myself and my wife ... and it's working properly
I've the same problem.... You have the sensor move "intelligent notification" enabled or disabled???
I have it turned on, but like I say in my previous post, once i shortened my message history, the problem went away ... I don't know how many messages start causing the problem.
My SMS history retention solution is:
limit thread length on phone to 150 and use SMS Backup+ from market to back up everything. That way when the phone drops a message due to thread size, I still have a backup in my gmail account.
hopefully that's it fixed.
Have you tried the suggestions above?
Yes, I limit to 100 sms, but the problem is not fixed....
Now I turned off the sensor move "intelligent notification", and seems to be fixed...
Please, try and send you feddback...
Thank you....
Not just me then.
I'll try these tips one by one and see what resolves it. I have limited the text history to 100 to start with, lets see.
@marcus46
I don't have the problem anymore, so cant replicate it.
I assume by intelligent notification, you mean 'smart alert' under the 'motion' menu?
Whit 100 sms on phone, the problem is not fixed.... now I try with 50 sms....
It's a bug....
I have the same problem with my notifications. It cuts off the sound, sometimes almost instantely, other times I get all of it.
Will try to turn off smart alert and see if that fixes it.
my suggestion would be to back up and then remove ALL conversation threads. Then test. If it works then re-import you sms history and test again.
At least doing this you will know one way or another if it's related to the sms history on your phone.
.... worked for me, but that's not to say it will work for everyone, may just have been a coincidence, but seems too much of a coincidence to not be related.
Good luck!
Ok, I've found the bug... If i have selected the limits of message and "delete old message", when the conversation is "empty" the sounds cut off.... If I don't selected "delete old message".... It's all ok....
Sorry for my bad english....
Thank you. This has indeed solved the notification issue.

Thanks for your reply. Just for clarity, which solution worked for you?
Untick delete old messages in options. I'm guessing when you hit the limit, a new message triggers delete old message and messes with the notification sound.

So your SMS history just grows unchecked? or do you have another way of managing your thread sizes?

More trouble with text messages

Been lurking this forum for years... but...
I bought a G-Watch on Friday night, and have been using it ever since... my problem is that when I send a text message via the watch, there is no record of it in the messaging app - whether stock or 3rd party.
However, in the stock app, an empty text message will pop up, only to say "no content." Whats even more strange, is that the message is STILL SENT!! Even though there is no record of it on the phone. Receiving messages works fine, its just sending that is the problem. I've looked at every setting I can think of... no luck.
Help!

That's definitely a bug. Seems to be more an issue on the phone than on the watch. No idea how you would fix this though. Don't wanna say reset, but it's the only thing I can think of. Try to reset just the watch first, then you won't have to setup everything on your phone again.

That's kinda what I figured. I factory reset both of them last night with no luck. I guess I just have to wait for an update - kinda sucks wondering if the fix will be included in the next update, or if LG even knows its an issue. I've looked for hours and haven't seen anything related.
Thanks.
Have you considered moving out to hangouts to use alongside the watch? Ever since I got mines I just made hangouts the primary app and I haven't had any issues.
No matter what, I can never stay away from android for long.

I did, with the same result.
However, I just stopped by Verizon a couple minutes ago, and he asked me if I had tried Verizon's app called "Verizon messaging" and I of course said no. He put it on the phone and it actually worked. But with that app, the watch doesn't vibrate during the notification of an incoming text.
So I guess I have to pick which is more important... a record of sent texts, or a legit notification that I received a text message. I'm leaning towards option 2.
That's interesting. I'm not sure why it's not working on either app. And I'd definitely go for option 2 as well. another dumb question have you reset your phone and the watch?

Google reminders auto-dismissing themselves

Hi folks,
I've got a weird issue for some time back now. It regards the reminders in the Google app, you know "remind me to do this and that at 2pm". They show up in many apps now like Inbox, calendar and so forth. Very useful, but I have a severe issue: they automatically dismiss themselves a second after they are going off. I hear the sound, and look down at my watch or the phone and I see the notification pop up and then immediately disappear again automatically. When I go into reminders I see them being checked off, marked done, without me doing anything. The problem only arise with timed reminders "at 2pm, in 2 hours" etc. When I set a location reminder "remind me to buy milk at coop", the resulting reminder stay in place as expected.
Any suggestion on what to do? I've got the latest Google app, from the beta channel but as I said this problem has been there a long time now, months likely. I'm on a S7 Edge.

Oh, so no point in trying to find a problem in my own device then. Incredible they aren't getting to it until NOW. It's been there for months now.
I am having this issue too and I use it all the time.
I ended up coding a notification replacement in Tasker using autonotification. It works but I lack the feature to postpone (since the real reminder is already dismissed).
