Restoring TA partition - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm quite new to Sony phones so not really sure about this. I would like to ask, can I flash a TA partition that I have backed up on a 4.4.2 firmware on a 4.4.4 firmware? Will my phone brick?
Thanks in advance.

You can restore TA partition on any version so long as your running a stock kernel
(stock based does not count)
You can use flashtool to flash a FTF to get a stock kernel back

Did you back up your TApartition while on the old firmware?
If you have a backed up TA and an unlocked bootloader life is easy. If not the above should work

There's not much between DoggRom and stock, and that would be my preference, Just flash from recovery with a wipe
For pure stock you could read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576006
Just flash .290 ftf for your device
then follow the first post.

If you are going the ftf route then there is no need to wipe before hand, the options are in flashtool (I just use default)
FTF's can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921

Hi,
It's easy. First flash stock ftf via flashtool.(Check xperia M device forum for ftf file.)
then restore TA partition and voila..done.
EDIT: flashing ftf will wipe out custom rom so don't worry about it.

Downgrade Marshmallow to Lollipop

Hey Guys.
Once i tried to downgrade my Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F from Marshmallow to Lollipop with odin, but it failed and i had a brick. I tried different Versions of Odin and with much luck i fixed my Phone. But now i am insecure and hope to get help from you. I installed latest Smart Switch Version. What do i have to do to downgrade without bricking my Device?

Only possible when flashing 5.1.1 custom rom via recovery, but you will lose your imei, BUT you can backup your imei and after flashing new rom restore it.

Yes before you proceed you will need to install a "custom recovery" (Search about it if you dont know what it is)
Go to recovery like you want to format but instead go to "Backup & Restore" and select backup and then select "efs" which is IMEI.
After flashing a custom rom and after the first boot you will notice that there is no signal, so go to recovery and select to restore efs.
I recommend you to backup efs to ext sd card.
This will void your warranty, even downgrading it self will void it.
Goodluck!

Any firmware 4DPG1 or above can not be downgraded. Im guessing before you was on U3DPAD or lower which can be downgraded. The first MM builds could be downgraded. But any 4xxxx can not
ah ok....
then i downgraded fast enough
my main reason of downgrade:
in MM it is not possible to change the font with HiFont App....!!!
i see other people saying that it's possible.
but i have one of the latest builds so, in your opinion , it is impossible for me to downgrade.
but are you sure? i can't believe that, i want absolutely a solution, i am searching it from so many time, please help

What build number are you in? It is impossible to downgrade from a late build 4xxxx. I have tried absolutely everything. The only way is to flash a nandroid backup but even then you will lose imei. You can always back up efs and restore but its not always as straight forward to restore it. You would also need to flash a new bootloader and modem.
Did you make a nandroid backup of your previous firmware? If not then you cant try that.
The only other way you can try is to flash a 5.1.1 custom rom. Again you will lose imei. So efs backup is important. You would also need to flash BL and modem again.
There are roms based on lollipop which is a much safer way to revert back, try one of them.
Overall i wouldnt try it bit its up to you. If you do and you find a way to do it let me know.

You cant downgrade after 4xxxx firmware mate. After updated bootloader your stuck on mm.
There are ROMs based on 5.1.1. But because you flashed 4xxxx firmware you cant downgrade. All lollipop firmwares are 3xxxx

I said the second way was to try to flash a 5.1.1 custom rom. But you would lose imei and theres no guarantee it would work. Its been reported that once you upgrade to 4xxxx firmware its impossible to downgrade
