I have 2 questions
1. Is there any way to increase color staturation via tools or upcoming updates from sony. (ie display colab was ported to xperia z)
2. Will this tablet recieve the 4.2.2 update or is cm10 needed.
Thanks and i apologize if the questions are too noobish.

1. Not yet. My guess is that we will probably see it in a 4.2.2 update. No one actually knows yet.
2. Sony have said it will be coming soon. No date has been given though. I'm really hoping it improves performance or I'll have no choice but to go for another ROM.

Really nothing major, but it does stutter with the recent apps draw and similar little things. It also doesn't play animations very well in some spots. It is pretty snappy for the most part though, just not quite Nexus 4 snappy.

Nope, I'm on nova launcher. It's very fast and fluid on the home screen. The choppy animations are pretty random in odd areas, but still frequent enough to make me notice them. Small apps is very choppy for example.
For 1) - I am using the App "Screen Adjuster" for that.
Screen adjuster doesnt have an option for saturation or gamma. Hope sony releases their app.
I just want to share what and why I did it. First off I did not have problems with my wifi on 4.2.2 with the Nexus10. the second that I went to Slim Kat and Vanir 4.4.2 I had weak wifi signal at work and at home when my nexus 7 slim kat and my galaxy note 2 Vanir did not. I noticed that RAM was also weird on the nexus 10. Even though it showed 2gb of ram on the specs it was only showing 1099 on 4.4.2 when I show that I have 1647 ram available with 4.2.2.
Concerning the OS using Ram. Google said that they would make Kit Kat more RAM friendly but I was using 535mb of RAM for 4.4.2 and right now I am showing only 357.3 mb for 4.2.2. I am using the same apps launchers and screen savers.
I just flashed back to 4.2.2 this morning so I will update later, I do see an improvement in the wifi though.
I just want to say that I love Slimkat and that is why I am on the 4.2.2 I just think Google somehow hosed up the wifi on the Nexus 10.
I have one question with all this. Is the wifi and Ram usage Kernel related?

B][/B] Ok so I am at work and have went back and forth between 4.4.2 and 4.2.2. the 4.4.2 connects and disconnects back and forth. When it does connect to router but it says poor connection and it is only 24mbps. "It drops way more than connected" I am 45 ft from router in an open environment.
The 4.2.2 Slim Kat has a fair connection with 78 Mbps and has not dropped once. So I don't know what the difference is with Kit Kat compared to Jelly Bean but for my nexus 10 my wifi is great now with Jelly Bean. I wish I could figure out why and fix but I do not know programming.
Have you tried to untick the "WiFi optimization" box in advanced WiFi settings? To me this seemed to improve the connectivity.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Yes I did do that and it just helped a little. I have been back on slimbean 4.2.2 for over a day now and my WiFi is great. Also I do not have any of the bugs that kit kat has . I have not had any fc or dropped WiFi. The tablet is perfect.

Hi,
If the 4.2.2 suits well your needs then there's no need to complain at all . I have no idea about the WiFi problem, sorry... I always use my WiFi close to the router, so I don't have problems. But I can explain you the RAM thing in KitKat.
Like you already know the Nexus 10 powers up a huge resolution display, and the graphics processor is not really able to keep up with it all alone, so Google allocated some of Nexus 10 RAM to the GPU. The update brings some new stuff, therefore requires more power and as such it will probably need more GPU power as well, and that's why you see less RAM. I will share here how I tested each update based on graphical performance:
I picked up an anime episode that I had in MKV, FullHD, FLAC audio, blah blah blah... In other words, very heavy stuff. Downloaded MX Player on both my S4 and my Nexus 10. Let's start the tests now:
First Test:
Both running 4.2.2 - The video was very laggy in both devices, in S4 it was completely unwatchable. On Nexus 10 you could watch it, but it was very unpleasant.
Second Test:
Both running 4.3 - The video got a little better on S4, you could watch it, but some parts were uncomfortable and really laggy. Nexus 10 got an amazing improvement (that's when Google started to allocate RAM to the GPU), you could watch it almost flawlessly, the only problem was skipping some parts and one particular scene.
Third Test:
My S4 broke, and now I'm with a Xperia Z1. Xperia Z1 and Nexus 10 running KitKat - Xperia Z1 performance was perfect, no lag at all, all scenes watchable and no problems rewind and fast forwarding the video, Snapdragon 800 has an amazing GPU indeed. Nexus 10, being one year older than Z1 with a older processor and way more pixels had a similar performance, was way better than on 4.3, the problem was with rewinding and fast forwarding, other than that was perfectly fine.

So, if you don't use your tablet for heavy videos and such, you can stay in older versions with no problems . I just think it is good to share this small experiment I did to clarify why your RAM "disappeared" suddenly on KitKat .
~Lord
Thanks I can understand now why they use the ram. I want to be back on slimkat or any kat but not while the WiFi is so bad. I watch regular videos nothing heavy. I take my tablet everywhere and get free WiFi and I had problems with connecting to those places if they had a weak signal. Since going back to slimkat 4.2.2 I have had no issues.
I hope Google fixes this issue. I would like to be back with kitkat

Hey, so i've been checking solutions for days. I'm gonna assume you're still using 4.2.2 and still haven't found a solution for the WiFi issues of 4.4.2. I unfortunately updated my Nexus 10 without knowing the consequence. My symptoms seem worse than yours. Not only will my internet drop, but i can't ever get into the play store and youtube will only half-load its own pages and videos.
Anyways...what i need to know is your method for reverting back to 4.2.2. I've downloaded the IMG (.TGZ) file straight from google as i'm sure you have but i can't find how to flash the file onto the tablet without rooting the thing (which in turn voids your auto-updates with google (so i heard)). i found a video of a guy using a program called "wugfresh nexus toolkit" but a lot of people trust Odin to do this. I guess i just need the step-by-step process for this specific device using either of the programs.
Last question: why didn't you downgrade to 4.3 instead of going to 4.2.2. Was there a problem with that OS as well?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
If I'm not wrong you can find how to restore stock on the Manta Help Thread! Please check there for further reference .
As for last question I don't know, you should try for yourself . As you said the symptoms in your case were worse, so what's better than checking for yourself other versions?

sorry to just get back to this thread. I am still using 4.2.2 I even went further and went totally stock so I can use the history channel app and brighthouse networks app. I use Wugs nexus kit and it walks you through all of it. Ever since I went back to 4.2.2 I have had no problems connecting to old wifi systems that my 10 could not connect to on 4.4.2. I am patiently waiting on the google fix for update 4.4.3

Excellent, thank you for your answer. That's what i was looking for. Flashed my new stock OS and it works like a charm! thank you very much!
I'm convinced the wifi issue will never be fixed.. Unless you're humping the router it's crap... Get down to 1-2bars of strength and its hit or miss if you'll get data throughput.. I've tried everything from changing wifi channels, switching only to WPA2 AES, disabling wifi optimization. It's just terrible still. This tablet has been a dud.. Between the ever changing RAM allocation to take more and more away from the user, the never fixed random reboots, and terrible Wifi... I'm probably never touching a Nexus tablet again.
I am using Nexus root tool kit. I download that program select the 4.4.2 as current program then selected the operating system that I wanted to go back to stock with. The link is :
http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
I went back to 4.3 and it's much better than kit kat, IMO.
I updated to 4.4.2. but had Wi-Fi issues where it would show that I was connected to Wi-Fi but could not actually access the internet and the only way to fix it was to toggle airplane mode on and off. It could happen as much as once every 15 minutes. Went back to 4.3 and no problems. When 4.4.3 came out I hoped the bug would be fixed but it wasn't so I downgraded again. Again no problems. When 4.4.4 came out I tried it out but in addition to the Wi-Fi issues I had frequent hard freezes where the tablet was completely unresponsive and had to hold down the power button to turn it off. These updates keep getting worse and worse. Back on 4.3 and think I'll stay here for a while. Only issue I've had is slight screen flicker, but I just turn off auto brightness and that fixes the problem.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I have also went back to 4.2.2 for now. Device is just as responsive as 4.4 for me and battery life is much better.
I'm not going to lie...I accidentally flashed 4.2.2 and thought "wow this is a big improvement" thinking it was 4.4.2. The device is just so much more fluid. What are the barriers to the N10 responding like my N5?
Yeah I remember when I first got my N10 running 4.2, it was far faster, then 4.3 came and turned everything into ****, KK has been aan experience nearly as good as 4.2, save for the WiFi drops as they happen from time to time, I blamed it on my kernel as my sister's stock N10 doesn't exhibit these problems.
Anyways, I'm now running KK + ART + F2FS and lowered my resolution to 1200p as games have become more taxing and it's faster than ever before, battery could be improved but I blame that entirely on the screen.
I recently upgraded to the Pac-man LP rom, and while it's fairly stable with only a few bugs, the performance leaves much to be desired. Opening facebook can take up to 10 seconds, switching apps is sometimes several seconds. opening up Audible also could take 5-7 seconds.
This isn't the case for all apps of course, but still.. it's unacceptable.
I had CM 10.2.1 before and it was OK but the limit on storage was awful. With the MDMower TWRP, i now have 4 gigs to play with so at least I can install some apps, but I'd like a happy medium. something that performs well while taking advantage of the larger partition.
would CM11 be a good choice? something else I havent looked into?
bugs like 'camera not working' or 'phone not working' are immediate non-starters since this is (still) my daily phone
thanks!

Oh man, what a terrible this it is to have to wait a couple of seconds for something on a phone built in 2012. Just an FYI check for my latest build today, should help with loading times.
haha - yeah I know, but the "simpler" roms out there .. even the stock one, work significantly faster. and yes, i'll definitely be getting the latest build - thanks Beeko

You gotta remember too that with 5.0.X it was a huge UI overhaul with Material UI implemented, just like 4.0.X had a major UI overhaul. Now when 4.1.X came out it had huge speed improvements and was much smoother...so I'm hoping is the same for 5.1
Obviously running LP on our phones is gonna be somewhat slower. I figure it this way.. take a computer that came with windows xp on it and see how well it runs windows 8. The hardware is just not designed for it. I think our dev community has done a great job of keeping our phones in the loop as android has progressed. Two thumbs up to Mower, Beeko and all the rest involved! :good:
As far as best performing goes, I'd have to go with either Viper (which I think was ICS) or CM10.2.1 as of now. I do have hopes for 5.1 tho cause it made a huge difference on my tablet. Definitely an improvement from 5.0
I have the Samsung S6 Edge t-mobile 64gb sapphire and it's been 11 days already . I'm starting to notice some hiccups and lags , between switching apps, tabs and keyboard input lags. It's pretty annoying.
Restart phone..
been doing that since the lag. it's seems there is some underlying culprit. lol. I really don't know...kinda sucks for a brand new expensive smartphone.

Having same issue. I'm using clean master app and helps. Not sure if that app is good or not. Hangouts lags to open when I get a notification. Can a theme cause this?
It Does LAG!
Your not alone! i experience lag a lot and its annoying considering i payed $1000 for a phone that lags! i do hope there is an update otherwise i will have to go back to iPhone 6 Plus or maybe even wait for 6s Plus!!
I know right?.... I just hate it when the keyboard lags like hell.... been closing applications everytime....so that it will minimize the lag occurrence. kinda sucks.

Everyone with lags...just reflash stock firmware using Kies or smartswitch. My S6 Edge lagged initially. I'm rooted. I'm using the ZiDroid stock recovery. I had wrongly deleted knox files with root explorer making my phone unbootable. I followed the directions of using the kies method *before smartswitch* method and the full on firmware restore killed any lags I initially had. BTW, the Kies method had the OTA update built in.
I'm running stock. not rooted. But with lags.
I agree, I bought the phone because there are so many positive review saying there's literally no lag at all..which is not true
This is TW, and it's TW we all knew, it remind me of my note ii, at least before I flashed it with omniRom
it's lag free initially when no app installed, but after few days of use, stutter just become more obvious
I know i can solve it with phone restart or even factory reset, but that's not how 2015 smart phone should behave, nor justifiable with the price
The TW animation just plane bad compare to stock lollipop, and the stutter just pop out here and there
I'm more than happy to give up all samsung feature in exchange of pure lollipop experience, but unfortunately it's not available yet

May i ask is there a tutorial or youtube link that shows how to reflash stock firmware using Kies or smartswitch?
I may give it a try to refresh my firmware to see if it helps or not
for now, the scroll lag in chrome/play store, delay in pulling down notification and occasional keyboard stutter really annoys me like hell
I have no lag per say the only problems I have is keyboard lag every now and again and redraws. I switched to Nova launcher and get much less redraws. I think that somehow the problem has more to do with lollipop than touchwiz because I had no lag at all on my note 4, until lollipop.
Coming from an HTC One M8 - My phone at times seems slower that this.
Albeit, I do use S Health, Fit bit and some other ram hunger items i guess.
Even when I clean the ram - I still only have less than 10% free!
After having a Note 3 i thougt stepping up to a Note 4 would improve in speed, it didnt, tw was extremely sluggish, lag was laughable with The killerspecs of The Note 4. Flashed a AOSP on my Note 3, fluid as hell! So i sold my new note 4 (0x0 knox), glad i got rid of it!!
Im never gonna buy a Sammy AGAIN, so AGAIN killer specs of The s6 and still lag, its junk!
TW, bloatware, stupid gimmicks are still the big problem!
Be smart, dont go for gimmicks that at first look good, but in reality you never use them..
Buy a Nexus 6, flash a Nice ROM, some mods, decent kernel, enjoy your fluid device!!
(Nexus 6 without contract 450 euro here, half The amount of a 899 s6 edge)
After downloading and installing the google keyboard from the play store, all keyboard lag I had experienced is gone. I think it has to be something with the preloaded keyboard(s) on the system because as soon as I disabled the other two keyboards (samsung and swipe) that were preinstalled and installed the google keyboard, no more lag.

install the google one and wait for the, 5.1.1 update
After root and installing a custom ROM I have not had one bit of stutter.
The only app that occasionally lags is Fleksy, a third party keyboard
Im with google keyboard and it lags terribly, to the point that I need to wait 2-3 seconds between chararcters!!! I had S1, nexus 4, nexus 5 and this device is simply amazingly bad. keyboard lag on a 2015 flagship??? unbelievable. Never going to buy samsung again. After 3 beautiful years with the nexuses, Im considering flashing roms again. sad.
BTW, keyboards legs are not the only legs. I have wallpaper scrolling issues, switching apps issues and so on. Does anybody know if there's a tutorial out there to stop all bloatware and manage memory? Might be better trying to control whats running before starting to flash roms.

I'm running stock, removed briefing, deleted some of the pre op installed apps and the only lag I find is the keyboard now and then. Irritating nevertheless.
Turning off vibrate on keypresses seems to help a lot.
As in title. Running atm stock 5.1.1 with elementalx kernel ( tried going back to stock one ). At best get 5 h SoT but mostly 4 ( from what I can see people get on average 7-8 hours. Tried clean flashing it once again, tried lollipaloza ( meh ). In addition to that I think the performance of my N9 is pretty weak ( gets laggy on home screen, switching between apps, some games ). Any suggestion about fix ( maybe matter of ROM or kernel? )In worst case scenario will probably just send it back to HTC service.
Cheers
SOT is very dependant on what else is going on with your device. I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with your device and I wouldn't waste your time or HTC's returning it. Those who are getting longer time are doing the following:
Location off
Touch sounds off
Screen dimming on manual and low
To name a few
Google battery life xda. There are many threads on how to get better battery life on XDA. Kernels and roms are not magic bullets.

The battery isnt the biggest problem thou ( as long as it keeps 1 day on 1 charge its k for me, ofc would love it to be around 7-8 hours instead of 4.5h ) the biggest problem is my experience about performance of my N9, even thou it is supposed to be much more powerfull device than N5 it just does not feel at least as smooth as N5. It feels way more laggy than N5. Maybe this is how N9 rolls. Does yours N9 like have 2-3 sec delay after pressing home button to return to main screen? boot up 2 mins + ( everytime )? 2-3 sec delay after oppenning apps? You bassiclly feel like it is choking with simple tasks such as returning back to home screen. Cause on my N5 all of those things are instant thats why I am wondering whats a problem here.
1. Gonna try disabling location ( most of time it was on GPS only )
2. I've got touch sound off straight after took it out of box ( it annoyed me )
3. Well my screen is most of a day on like 15% of brightness and when I am in a bed it is min

I have to ask about custom ROMs at this point. I have a Nexus 6 running stock T-Mobile firmware and it runs amazing. Very responsive...I rarely if ever touch the screen and then feel like it locked up. The N9? Not so much. I've run stock 5.x.x and I'm running the 3rd M Preview right now, and I can't say I am seeing any improvement. M seems no better or worse, except with sleep battery drain on M, which is awesomely small.
I find that the WORST app on the device is Chrome, no matter what version (stable/beta/dev). It is just touch, then wait for SOMETHING to happen. Even the loading circles and often the bottom nav bar stuff goes unresponsive. Multitasking can take several seconds to switch or start an app. It's just a stuttery, freezing mess. I don't know at this point if it's that stock Android just sucks on the N9, or the nVidia 'denver' experiment is just a total fail. To answer a common rejoinder: I have wiped the device several times and see the same crappy stuttering/lagging/freezing on a newly reset tablet.
I'm wondering if people who were in my circumstances found salvation with a custom ROM and/or Kernel. If so, is there a 'favorite' out there for compatibliity, speed and stability? Do these ROMs for the N9 truly solve the atrocious unresponsiveness of the device? I honestly don't even give a crap about battery drain at this point. I'd rather have a tablet I have to recharge all the time than one I don't even want to pick up because I can tap the screen and then go do something on my Nexus 6 while waiting for the Nexus 9 to unfreeze itself and consider doing the thing I just asked.
Any advice would be useful. I'm okay with going back to a 5.x custom ROM at this point. I am looking forward to Marshmallow, but it hasn't really solved my complaints against this tablet.

the biggest problem is my experience about performance of my N9, even thou it is supposed to be much more powerfull device than N5 it just does not feel at least as smooth as N5.

Yes, everyone experiences this unless they only have the stock GApps installed and nothing else. Eventually the device will become laggy like that after a week or two of a fresh flash of the Nexus images.
It is in my humble opinion that it is not software, but a hardware issue. The device has a 64bit CPU and 64bit OS. That in it self is a good thing, but coupled with the fact it only has 2GB of RAM is where the issue lies. If the N9 had 3GB of RAM we would not be experiencing these issues.

Yea, you are probably right. Just wanting to add my 2 cents. I've followed some of the advice found here on XDA. A lot of people recommended switching to Dirty Unicorns. So did I. Must admit that it rotated my experience by 180°. My N9 finely feels smooth.

There are customs ROMs on many devices that can give you some visual *tweaks* to give the illusion of faster performance. When it comes down to the bottom line no ROM can add a GB of much needed RAM.
I'm not picking on the N9, I love the device and there isn't another tablet I would rather purchase. Google said they were not making a 2015 Nexus tablet which is fine by me, but it would have been nice to come out with a 2015 of the N9 with 3-4GB of RAM...
