ATT just gave me my unlock code, so I am sending the T-mo watch back and just set up the ATT Gear S instead.
The problem is that I can't find a way to install apps that were on my first Gear S, onto my second Gear S. I can't redownload them from the store, but instead the button says to go back to Gear manager. In Gear manager I can't see the apps at all, maybe because I already disconnected the T-mo Gear S.
What am I missing?

How would I do that? The watch itself only has restore to factory settings as an option.
I hope it does not involve installing kies?
BTW, i was on the phone with Samsung for 64 minutes today. After being bounced around in a circle to four different departments, I still don't know how to do it. Presumably a mgr will call me back at some point.
Never talked to such clueless support in my life.

Have same issue. I'm a dev and keep resetting my device and I have several apps that show as purchased that do not show installed in Gear Manager so I can't uninstall or re-install. Seems to be a bug here.

If you reset your device, maybe your phone thinks there is more than one?
This is what worked for me with the two devices I had: I had to either disconnect (Gear Manager) or entire unpair (BT settings of phone) my first device, then the second device could reinstall the apps. I should have updated this post when I figured it out, as I am fuzzy on the install details: I think I had to redownload from the app store.
ETA: Samsung support is completely clueless on this matter: The manager who was supposed to call me back with a solution never did.
Did you check the backup and restore in gear manager inside the settings menu

I'm getting a force close on "Samsung account" (com.osp.app.signin) during boot up. It happens two times in a row every time I reboot. Anyone experience this and/or know how to stop it from happening? I can't remove the account without factory reset which I don't really want to do.
Any ideas?
yeah, I have the exact same issue
I think it has to do with their servers. probably the same reason the other guy can't register.

I have recieved this twice. However I was on my work network and I assumed it weas just being blocked. I have not recieved it as of today though.
Me too.
I have the exact same issue and would rather not have to start from scratch. Any thoughts on how to fix this without doing a factory reset?
As a side note, is the Samsung Account sync supposed to be turned on? In Account Settings, the account is there but it is greyed out and I can't turn it on.
Mine did this today. I think it has something to do with it trying to access the net and check for updates before the system is fully loaded and wifi signal recieved. That's my take on what happened to me this morning.
Yeah mine was doing until I opened the Samsung apps app and it needed an update. So I'm pretty sure that was it cause it stopped crashing on me.
fixed it by updating Samsung apps.
Hello, i've got this too, what's your samsung app version ?
3.10.012 Is the updated version. If you open Samsung apps it should auto update.
Mine also had this issue and when I updated Samsung apps as pointed out above, the problem stopped existing.
I did the Samsung Apps update and it updated itself 3 times. Its strange. I still get force close on bootup.

I still see this too. It is SO annoying.
What if we don't have Samsung Apps, and never have?
My Gtab (have only had it for 2 days) is experiencing the same thing,. A few hours after signing into Samsung apps it started to do the FC trick. I have tried to find a way to update SAmsung apps but it appears to be up to date. It is very annoying and makes me wonder about my choice of tabs as TF is getting 3.2 today and from what I have experienced with Samsung this device may never ever see it. I admit the TW update will be very nice (I have a rom derived from the leaked update installed and it is quite nice)but I am more concerned at this point about the HC updates or more to the point Samsuing's track record concerning not getting updates out to their phones. The Gtab is a wonderful device and if SAmsung will just push out the updates as fast as Asus (or even close to as fast)is doing then it will be the Best tablet out IMO.

Looks like I found a fix for those who don't have Samsung Apps installed in their Galaxy Tab. I have a GT 10.1 Limited IO Edition... and though I'm sure it was installed when I first got it, it's not there anymore. Maybe it has to do with the 3.1 update??
Anyways, here's what I did to fix the issue:
1. Go to Settings, then Accounts & sync
2. Select Add account (on top right-hand corner) and choose Samsung account (fyi: I already had a Samsung account... it was made before the 3.1 update)
3. I created a new Samsung account... and filled out the necessary info (don't know if you can just sign into an existing account... maybe somebody can test this out).
That's about it... I think the issue has to do with the Samsung account made before the 3.1 update. It looks like only one Samsung account should be allowed per device, yet I was able to put a second one. Then, when I tried to add a 3rd one, it says, "Samsung Samsung account already exists in account manager".
Have rebooted 4 times without a force close. Hopefully this helps!

Greyed out is normal. Says so on their support site FAQ.

My GTab was doing this too. It also would not update Samsung Apps. It kept force closing. I reported a few times, for what good I do not know. However I fixed the issue of not updating last night and thouht I would share. Go into manage applications and choose Samsung Apps. Select the clear data button. Next select the force close button. Now go to your application home screen and choose Samsung Apps. It should then tell you that you have an update and install just fine. BTW, mine asked to update twice. I just went with it. It worked and Samsung Apps came up. I have not rebooted it yet but will update later if that force close issue has resolved itself with the update.
Update: The Samsung App process force close on startup has now gone away too.

Hi,
Today someone told me via Google Plus how to install Gear Manager on non-Samsung mobiles. His name is Serge Berig. So 100% Credits go to him. I am just posting here what he posted in Google Plus. His Phone is Moto X and Mine in LG G2. Worked perfectly fine.
My Test Scenarios:
1. LG G2 D802 Rooted. Rooting is not required as his Moto X is unrooted.
2. I am using a separate SIM on Gear S.
3. I have disabled mobile data and Wifi on both Gear S and my mobile
How it Works:
1. Download Gear Manager Latest Version and GearManagerStub.apk from this link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/e7h23e12rzesi/Gear_Manager (Credit goes to the uploader)
2. Download these APK Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3uemtAJSY3PVDFiY0FsVGRLN28/view?usp=sharing (Credit goes to Serge)
3. Move these files to your phone.
4. 1st install Gear Manager, then GearManagerstb.apk, then all remaining apks.
5. Open Gear Manager on your phone and viola. It connects, Resets your Gear S in case you used it before and as far as i checked everything Works
I did not test each and everything. As far as i know most thing works. Previously i had "Connecting Forever" Issue, now it connects straight away. I am using my Gear S as complete independent to Mobile Calls and SMS from my Mobile. I have not set any forwarding options or notification for Call and SMS from my mobile to Gear S.
Pls post your results
What's not Working:
1. Can't Transfer Music/Images from Phone
2.
I was just coming here to post this.
I can confirm this works on my stock G3.
Works:
Calls work, but i had to switch to the phone then back to bluetooth. Initially there was no audio. However that may have been a glitch, because it works after that without flipping back.
Notifications (you have to allow Gear Manager access to the notifications in Android System Menu)
Home Screen Styler
Find My Gear
Contacts pull down to Gear
Not Working:
Music player seems to be controlled through Gear Manager and not A2DP. So we may have to install Samsung Music player. Still investigating.
Transferring files to the Gear through Gear Manager crashes goproviders.apk. This also broke my notifications. Had to reboot the phone to get it back working.
Call Logs dont pull down
Weather app is missing
Receiving SMS in the watch SMS app. You get the notifications just fine, but the GEAR SMS app can't sync your conversations

I would imagine there is a newer goprovider.apk. The one he posted is 2.0.337.337. Thats the older one from the Gear 1/2 Gear Manager.
All the Samsung Gear S apps are version 2.2 and up. I was experimenting with the old Gear Manager and got similar crashes.
Just thought I'd chime in and let you know that I have the same version on my Note 4 with the Gear S. 2.0.337
Thanks for checking on that. It's got to be a missing lib or some TouchWiz framework.
It's not even a feature I care about, but i'm sure it will be needed later.
I'm still trying to find a fix for the music player controls.

Did you install the Stub Manager and all the 8 or so other APK's?
If you skipped the initial activation screen, make sure bluetooth is on, on the Gear S.
Also, try unpairing in the phone bluetooth menu then reopen Samsung Gear manager.

yes i installed the latest gear manager app as well as stub manager apk and other apks provided
this is my first time setting this watch up. my devices pair up but when i go to paired devices in the gear manager and try to connect, on my phone it says "connecting to gear" and the gear just has the "to connect to your mobile device, select the name of this gear in the samsung gear application" message
*EDIT*
got it working . i uninstalled everything that dealt with the gear under app manager in my phone and unpaired the device under bluetooth and re-installed everything again. it re-paired itself and it is working now.
I must have missed an APK somewhere
Glad to hear you got it working. Try some of things I listed as not working and see if you have different results. The more info we have, the better!
Music and images not worming here as well.
if I disconnect from Bluetooth my calls don't get forwarded to my watch. Can't send out text messages as well
Yeah I just want to chime in saying this isn't a fully working solution, but it works enough to keep me satisfied for now.
I'm sure as we get more people wearing these, more will jump on board to fix the issues we have.

I just got what I believe is my second firmware update to ANJ7. (Not a Gear Manager update)
So I enrolled in the Samsung Nougat Beta Test for my S7 Edge thinking that is should be just fine. After all the last thing they really need is bad PR from this after everything else.
Phone updated with out issues. Applications updated. Settings held without issue.
When it came to sync the watch again to the phone, not happening.
Gear Manager application is now Samsung Gear Manager for N. It looks like it is built into the OS now, as there is no longer a delete option of the application.
When I go to sync the phone with the application, I open the application, press the button to select the gear. I select the Gear S (D5BD) button.
It then advances to the next screen where it says preparing to connect.... and a pop up displays Notice. Installation failed ! Error Code: 5
I called Samsung Support and they had me clear data and force stop the application along with reset the Gear S and there is still no change.
Tried contacting the Samsung Nougat department, and of course they are closed for the day.
Has anyone here experienced this issue, and if so how did you resolve.
If you can offer me any solutions so I can use the watch once again, I would greatly appreciate it. Starting to go through with drawl. If I had know it wasn't going to be working, I certainly would not have updated.
Thanks for taking a look at the post and giving it a thought or two. Greatly appreciated.

I am going through a similar issue, and after spending eternity with high level techs on the phone and in person at a Samsung store, I found that the answer lies in the Gear S. The last firmware update for the watch was early this year, and the watch itself cannot communicate with Nougat. Even though Gear Manager will communicate with Nougat. Right now we are at the mercy of Samsung to update the Firmware for a 3 year old device, that has been replaced by 2 generations...
Fix received
received a fix from Samsung that worked and wanted to share.
1. Go to settings
2. Select Application Manager
3. Select Update Gear Software and uninstall it.
when this is complete, go back to the Gear Manager app and try to re-connect. It will take a bit longer than normal, but will finally connect and sync.
Back in business baby!!

Hey everybody! Hope you are having a great week so far. I have been having a problem with Samsung Health. I am having this problem on an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8. Whenever I launch the app, I am getting this warning message:
"All applications associated with this action have been turned off or blocked, or are not installed. To turn on the disabled applications, go to Settings > Application manager, then tap the disabled applications tab. Select an application from the list, the tap Turn on."
I have Samsung installed and enabled and I am wondering what other apps could possibly be causing this to happen. The only applications that I have disabled are YouTube and Hancom Office Editor. I have disabled and uninstalled other apps in the past so maybe one of those uninstalled apps is causing this problem. Does anyone know what apps/system processes are needed to launch Samsung Health? If not, does anyone know how to debug the app startup process and figure out what is going on? Thanks in advance.
Hi , try to do factory reset but before that back up your data and remove all your accounts from your device and try .

This did not work. As I suspected, YouTube and Hancom Office did not have anything to do with S. Health.
I ended up factory resetting the phone and then restoring all of my data from backups. This did the trick. Not a true solution to the problem but everything works now. I guess we will never know what was actually causing this issue.
say, sprint s9 here, has anyone been able to get the smart call spam caller id working on a carrier branded phone ?? the unlocked has this option available. i had it on my branded s7 and it was a nice feature.
few things i have found are
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/comm..._to_uninstall/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ote-7-t3451659
i found under apps system apps smartcall, phone and contacts permission off, not sure what this alone would do
does a shortcut to com.android.phone.com/com.android.phone.smartcall.SmartCallSettings need to be created somehow ??
any information or feedback would be great. debating just installing hiya and calling it a day.
Smart Call
I used the app Shortcut Master to Launch com.android.phone.smartcall.SmartCallSettings, it opens the dialog and you can enable the setting. You can also launch perms dialogs with com.samsung.android.smartcallprovider.ui.PermissionDialogActivity
There is also another toggle you can launch com.android.phone.smartcall.WhoWhoServiceSettingActivity - not sure what this is.
In any case, even using these settings / checking system app Smart Call, I was not able to turn on the feature.
Along with switching on smart call, I also installed the attached app. Make sure to open the app at least once to give the app permissions. You may need to restart your phone after installing the app.

Well, worst case it won't work. I'll install it later and see what happens. I haven't gotten any junk calls for several days, so I'm probably due to get a bunch of them.
Edit: Well, I tried it, but no joy. The app started up, asked for permissions, but then just sat there with a spinning circle. Doesn't appear it's going to load.
