Hello everyone I am facing a issue in the gallery app
The images are shown blank
Wiped cache / reinstalled ROM nothing works
Deleted .thumbnails in sdcard/dcim but didn't worked
Installed other gallery apps but still no luck
After clearing the data of gallery app the images start to appear but once I go back then it starts again
See the screenshot
Try this.
Goto apps and clear data for 'media storage'
Then reboot(might take more than one reboot).Your data should re-appear
Remember, you will need to set your ringtone again.
If that doesn't work, then most probably there is a corrupted image/media file. Or an issue with your sdcard

I have searched, without result, for an answer. I am hopeful someone here will be able to give some guidance.
A whle back, I took a screenshot of one of my homescreens, using shootme. Then uninstalled, as I learned how to do it using the SDK and adb. I now have an album within my gallery named screenshots. It contains the single screenshot I took with shootme. It is not located on my phone. I have wiped internal storage, flashed several ROMs since, and it still remains in my gallery.
After fresh install to any ROM, with or without wipe, it shows up. I have noticed that it will show up on ANY phone that I setup with my gmail credentials. I am assuming that this is stored somewhere on Google as part of a backup. I am frustrated, and have searched for how to change google backup settings, only to not find an answer.
Anybody have some insight as to how to remove this pesky pic?
Solved!!!
After some more digging around the interweb thingy, I found that it was Picasa Web Album that was storing that screenshot. I logged into my GMail account, then clicked on more, in the top left section of gmail, then clicked on photos. Sure enough there was my rogue screenshot!!! Clicked edit-> delete, and now it is gone from my vibrant!!!
what happened is when you install shoot me it creates a folder on your sdcard that it stores your screen shots in. when your phone 'wipes' to install a rom it wipes system data, not sdcard data so that folder is still on your sdcard and will continue to show up until you delete it.

It was Picasa Web, not the SD Card. Thanks for your input though.
I'm on Generic ROM from LG which is 2.3.3 Gingerbread and I'm rooted.
This issue has been occurred to me previously but I would like to mention it with a fresh start.
Today the application Google Maps v6.8.1 was updated, thus I too updated my app. Now I took a backup of that app and renamed it as Maps_6.8.1.apk. I did a Clear Data on that app and uninstalled the update, then again did a Clear Data for the old app. Now from ES File Explorer, I went to /system/app and replaced the old Google Maps application with the latest update. After successfully replacing the application, I restarted my handset. After the restart, I checked that the app was successfully replaced and functional.
Now the only problem arises is that surprisingly, I still have some data worth 4MB in /data partition (NOTE: app size is 6.1MB). I can surely say this because I faced this problem earlier and did a Factory Reset which successfully gave me those occupied space. But this time, I don't want to perform a factory reset again.

Trying to remember: isn't there a "save cache to SD" option in Map's settings? I don't have it installed on my current ROM so I can't check. This is different from the offline caching in map Labs.

Maps was just an example my friend, this happens with any app I move to /system/app partition
Try clearing dalvik-cache(from recovery) but at your own expense
Once i cleared it and got bootloop, then had to factory reset from recovery
Why the Album app shows up ANY image file also in .nomedia folders ???
it's very unconfortable... i have dozen of pics that are not pics but pieces of apps...
is there a way to set album app to show only regular folders ? (those with images and no .nomedia files)
Want this as well.
I've noticed that folders where I had a .nomedia file before upgrading to ICS are still hidden in the new album app but any new picture folders where I have created a .nomedia since upgrading to ICS still show.
I just wiped data and cache for media storage and album app and its now hidden my folders with .nomedia files but its also wiped my Walkman playlists
get quickpic
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
and use it to hide those things (u can even use it as album)...
no need 2 wipe anything...
cheers

How to do it ? i've deleted Album data but no changes...
and i can't delete mediascanner data (button disabled)
I wiped cache and data in media storage and album (in settings\apps) then rebooted. It takes a couple of minutes for the album to scan through for pictures after rebooting.
.nomedia means that that folder will not be displayed on album.
Delete that. Nomedia but it will show you every picture and video in it.

Wipe Media Storage is not the best solution as it remove not only photo cache, but aslo music, video and etc...
I tried it and all my ringtones (default from Sonly) are not picked up/ show up in the system, and can only be found in the file explorer... somehow can't get it to rescan the ringtones again.
I've installed Honami rom for Xperia U and it includes the newest album app. and .nomedia file doesn't work again, even after wipe cache and reboot. It's work with other apps, such as Cymera or Quickpic. May you help me how to hide it?
Hey, running on 4.0.4 samsung based
something happened (not remember what caused it)
and suddenly my media messed up.
ringtones/ notifications do not work if I set non-system sounds
gallery is empty (photos can be seen from explorer)
camera cannot preview any saved pics (says "no items" or so)
Any ideas?
I wiped cache, dalvik cache, photo cache, thumbnails,
wiped media data from titanium backup... nothing helped
PS quickpic works, the stock apps not
Maybe there is "no media" files in media/dcim folders.
If so delete them and see if that cures it.

no, there is no ".nomedia" file anywhere unintended
Using Note3 KitKat 4.4.2 and latest WhatsApp
After the update to KK, my whatsApp Images are glitched. The same photos are repeated taking the filename of older files. This causes my older files to disappear
Any suggestions?
any help? please!
anyone with any ideas?
contacted WhatsApp support but they still have not gotten back to me...

Wipe caches to resove this issue for future
OR
Check for WhatsApp directories in your sdcards (int and ext both )
There should be only one directory and if you find more than one then delete one from them that is unnecessary
For example, if your whatsapp is installed in internal sd card then app directory should be in int sdcard only and if you find in ext sdcard also then remove it because thats unnecessary and vice versa (Remember- DONT DELETE THAT NECESSARY DIRECTORY FROM RIGHT PLACE)
And then wipe caches for whatsapp and if you are having custom recovery then wipe caches from there. and reboot.
OR
You just need to reinstall whatsapp.
Before re-installing, clear data and cache for whatsapp and uninstall
Then install install whatsapp again.
May be this will help you or you can wait for whatsapp suport as this can be a whatsapp issue.

Backup your Whatsapp conversations and media, move it to a PC, then uninstall Whatsapp and completely delete the entire whatsapp folder and then install the apk again.

okay. the photos are not corrupted. it's just that they are showing a totally different photo from what they are supposed to be.
as I scroll through my convo media history, some photos are totally replaced with a different one (yes, you can actually see the photos becoming replaced)
sorry to bump this up - but i'm gonna do a clean install on my phone soon
- any suggestions how I can fix this? :/
