These settings have been tested by me all night and all day checking the timesnin each clock state and if it failed it would be a simple fix . This is as stable as can be lowering your temps and increasing batterylife!! No more screen dimming. I stopped the undervolting process at 1728mhz because at 2265mhz regardless the phone would overheat

729mhz----750mv these are as low as I could go

These settings are to be inputted directly into setcpu via voltage table proven to work
These settings are also tested daily and improved where flawwed

you do know we already have 2 over clocked kernels for tw. so its not exactly pointless.
These settings are for people who want batterylife and to enjoy theyre phone without the screen dimming on them from the cpu overheating on them.. i dont see a point in overclocking the phone. Maybe some quadrants and horrible batterylife
There are some that want the most battery in a device. Others want the most performance. I and others are in the 2nd category. I personally have a zerolemon so battery life is a last priority for me seeing that underclocking this handset is pointless to me. But to each their own. I do aprreciate you taking the time to find out these voltages but to some OC is just as addictive as flashing roms themselves lol!

Stock Kernel Nope.
This WILL not work on a stock TW kernel as SETCPU or Voltage control do not have the ability. The only way to change voltages (unlike the title claims) is to flash a NON stock kernel first.

This is due to variation in chips, when the processors are manufactured they are tested, separated by performance, and priced accordingly (this is called 'product binning'). Those of you using OP's settings with no issues have similar or better processors, and likely could undervolt further.

my only reason for saying that is he has a note 2 in his signature plus we have a 2.3ghz processor soo y would it overheat?
plus our cores are handled bit different because we have a snapdragon and well the note 2 has a exynos processor :fingers-crossed:

The clock speed, voltage, and heat are all directly connected; changing any value will affect at least one of the others.

These theories are equally applicable to all processor types. The issue with these one-size-fits-all settings is we are using cpu's from multiple different bins, thus they can tolerate different voltages/clock speeds. It's also worth mentioning that 2 cpu's from the same bin will tolerate different settings (as they came from different wafers) and that even 2 cpu's from the same wafer will likely tolerate different settings (depending on it's location within the wafer).
In other news, I've found THIS extremely useful thread that explains how to go about revealing your bin # (Thanks @toastido for noting that KitKat changed location to /sys/devices/system/soc/soc0/soc_pvs :highfive. The thread also has multiple users end settings and benchmark results.
Last but not least, to finally answer your original question: I found in that thread that your original settings will vary depending on your bin # (There are no universal stock settings) but perhaps you can find someone who posted their original settings from the same bin that you have. Did a brief search here looking to understand how to operate overclocking kernals, but find it/me relatively limited.
I have installed and ran Glitch v11 and v12, played around with HL to LL, and made adjustments to undervoltage utilizing Pimp My CPU and Voltage Control. I have also ran Tweak (though not really a kernal).
My question is this,
am I overclocking when I reduce voltage on Mhz's above 1,000?
If not, could someone point me to, or explain how to achieve overclocking on our phones, and
which kernel and governor do you prefer for overclocking?
As an ammended note, I've installed Tegrak Overclock, but am still looking for a user guide...

If you're the running the glitch kernel...use voltage control, not tegrak overclock...over clocking is when you turn the CPU speed above its normal speed..anything over 1GHz.
under volting is when you turn down the voltage frequency to achieve better battery life...
Any one clock speed may perform more or less stable with different under volting unfortunately all of our phones will vary in performance so one setting that works for one may not be the best for another so experimentation is really the best option...this applies for schedulers and governors as well.
I personally overclock as high as I can until it freezes or crashes..then I go 1 setting down...I then try undervolting different steps observing the stability of my phone...when I find what I like,I run it for a few days, then if its still nice and stable I will apply on boot.
The different leakage values are affected by the hardware quality of the chips in our phones which also vary..I start with high and see how high I can overclock..note the setting, then try medium..see how high I can overclock and so on...just as a reference..high leakage creates the most heat and is the least efficient, but works for most phones, while low leakage is the most efficient and generates the least heat and will work with not as many phones

come on man.. Clock speed (mhz) and undervolting are 2 completely different things.. Forget the voltage.. No changing the voltage is NOT overclocking.. You overclock by changing your maximum clock above 1000mhz which is stock for this phone.. Try long pressing 1200mhz and selecting set as max.. Now your overclocked to 1200mhz..

No decreasing the voltage is simply undervolting whether it's over 1000 or under. The idea behind undervolting is increasing battery life, but you can't necessarily go and set each level to the maximum undervolt (200) you half to see what works. Increasing the processor speed is overclocking, stock speed is 1000 so anything over that is over clocked. As far as how far as how far you can over clock depends mostly on 2 things, 1. the kernel your using, ( for example if it shows 1300 in the list that means thats all that specific kernel supports) 2. It varys greatly between phones. For example with glitch you can overclock to 1700 but very few phones can run that high for longer than a few minutes!

Yes.. And the fact you say your running glitch and your max oc is only 1300 my guess is you broke your kernel with tegrak overclocks module.. Delete tegrak and stop downloading overclock apps. or any other root app unless you know fully the consequences first.. If after deleting tegrak, and rebooting, if your voltage control don't show a maximum clock of 1700 mhz, then you will need to reflash your glitch kernel

There are no issues with glitch.. It is what I run.. Very smooth.. Just have to give your phone time to adjust and build cache

Landscape
Re-installed Glitch v12 ML last night and have it overclocked @ 1,200 with no under-voltage...yet. Want to see any adverse effects.
I started at 1,300 and it locked up then rebooted within 5 minutes.
A concern I have is that now my phone will not Auto Rotate to Landscape even though I have Auto-Rotate 'on' in Settings.
I've scoured Sixstrings Glitch thread to no avail. Though it's not needed anymore, I also flashed the cleaning script just to see if it would make a difference.
Is there a work around or fix for this?
Make sure you're on the latest 9/15 version of the kernel. Anything before that will kill all of your phone's sensors.

That was it. I had re-installed the older Glitch v12 that was already on my PC. Deleted them and downloaded the newer Glitch kernels to experiment with.

Yeah, locking and rebooting was while using the older version of Glitch v12. With the 9/15 dated Glitch I'm at 1300 now with the following settings:
Deadline / ondemand
200 - 1300
1300 -25
1200 -25
1000 -50
800 -50
400 -75
200 -75
1.2GHz is the best I say if you want good battery with a higher frequency. 1.4GHz is the best for anyone who uses their phone alot. Samsung did add 1.2GHz overclock in their source.

For some reason, every time I accessed the keyboard for Google+, it hung, then froze, and 3 of the four times rebooted. The fourth time I needed to remove the battery to reboot. So I re-flashed MIUI 1.9.16 (effectively removing Glitch) and have 0 problems.
Bummer, I like Glitch too.
I'm in the same boat, however they redone the latest glitch merge and posted it last night so I'm thinking we'll be back in good times

You wouldn't want to use my voltages, I put everything way lower than anybody else does or recommends and am just lucky that it is stable for me but it causes the sleep of death for anyone else.
For comparison, just run JT's kernel for a bit and then flash glitch and try it... once you play with OC/UV and voodoo color you won't be able to go back. (you'll be able to but you'd have to be insane.)
First I am aware that overclocking is not "safe" and all that kind of stuff
However for some reason I am unable to OC my SGS2 and run the phone on a steady way.
I have tried several ROMs (stock and custom) with different kernels and OCing apps with no avail.
I am not even able to run at 1.4Ghz or 1.6Ghz without having my phone reboot or hard lock on me.
Is there a particular or recommended setting (most successful combination) that anyone out there can suggest me trying?
Sometimes it will hang under heavy gaming but sometimes even browsing app and regular stuff will cause the phone to reboot or lock. If I work with no OCing at all then everything is fine and dandy.

Sounds like a very temperamental cpu. Currently I have the same setup you do and have never had issue with 1400mhz or 1600mhz. Though I usually leave mine at 1200mhz. What app are you running when it hangs?
And just as important, do you have alot running in the background? The modified touchwiz launcher unnamed comes with can be enabled to show a red dot next to the apps that have been opened and are in the background.

Not all CPUs can overclock - there's a reason it was sold as a 1.2 GHz chip.
Well as I've mentioned before, it could even hand when browsing through my apps menu, browsing the gallery, playing a game (non in particular) and the funny part is that the phone is not even hot to touch.
What I know for sure if that if no OC = no hangs, no reboots.
I do have the App monitor widget that comes with the stock ROM and currently using it on UnNamed 1.3.1 and I only have Widget Locker App. However I have try closing it and still will happen.
Not sure if maybe this CPU is somehow having an issue that makes it unstable as soon as I OC it.

nope.. just by testing. it does have to do a little bit with the kernel and rom. the roms didnt originally have stable OC. i would assume that all of them do now. one thing you might try is giving them a little more voltage (just a little) at the higher clocks, but be careful. if you increase the voltage that means that you will sink more enery through the cpu and it will get hot quick. make sure you watch the temp.
i find that setcpu is less stable than the built in cm7 oc menu but cm7 doesnt have a voltage menu.
but on the same token... why OC? i can and i did but i dont need to... everything is like butter and i didnt see that huge a gain by OCing it anyways

have you ever overclocked PC CPUs? if you have spent much time doing that, then you would know that not every chip, even within the same model/family, will clock the same. take 2 CPUs, from the same batch, same model, with identical hardware tied to them. you will probably find that one clocks higher stable speeds than the other.
its very likely the proc in your phone just cannot handle the overclocks that the next person's could.
Like pirate said, no two pieces of hardware are identical. Sort of shows how much variance there can be in a manufacturing process. Id guess theres a few chips that come off the same line that arent stable at 1.2 ghz, but they dont make it to the devices, whereas one that can handle a higher clock will. (No sense tossing one that exceeds minimum requirements, thatd just be throwing good hardware away)
You could try nudgin the voltage up and seeing how it behaves, just use caution.

Try those out and see if is better for you. I tried undervolting the higher voltages and would either lockup or reboot instantly until I tried adding voltages. So you may need to play with your settings to get it to work for you.

Yup, or if they want to sell a "premium" device with a higher clock rate, they will take the parts that test well at 1.4 and sell them as such - meaning parts rated 1.2 will be LESS likely to be overclockable if a device comes out with CPUs rated at 1.4 - like the Galaxy Note did.
Before, anything that could meet the requirements of stable at 1.2 was sold to any Galaxy S II - but now, the premium parts are going into the Note.

I am having the same issue as the original poster on my new GS2. I will have to try the settings you mention but would it be possible to do this and also apply /UV to the remaining lower (1000ghz to 200ghz) processor speeds and maintain stability?

They did talk a little about undervolting to increase battery life. Personally I don't worry about it. I'm not using my phone to sort out heavy algorithims at the moment, so running how it does is fast enough for what I use it at. Just found the article interesting.

Undervolting rarely makes a difference on mobile SoC's, but on the desktop/laptop CPUs you can really save a ton of power with undervolting and underclocking.
Why to overclock and understand it?
Here is a good reason to know what you are doing..
and the battery avg's lasting at least through the day, but most of the time, I have a charger near me...

The article says its not the actual overclocking that is saving battery life. When you put SetCPU on your phone not only can you overlock but you can underclock and set different voltages. I'm not 100% sure how the voltages play into it but you can set the processor to run at really low speeds during certain acts ei. when the screen is off, or any other time you don't necessarily need alot of power. That's and I changed all the voltages (I got them from a post where the guy knew what he was doing and tested them). I get almost 2 days moderate browsing, apps and text. If I talk alot or use my hotspot I only get 1.5 days. It is a little time consuming to get everything just right but when you do you really see it.

This isn't a SetCpu feature there are other programs that can do this as well. It just so happens SetCpu has it built into the program. I bought SetCpu back in my Atrix days and loved it so it does work great for a simple tuning program.

I'm running a kernerl and a custom ROM that allows me to underclock and overclock.
I tried it out both ways and the battery lasted for almost the same amount as on the stock option. As I tend to play games a lot on my phone, the underclocking ran into some issues with stuttering and sometimes force close of a couple of games.
Personally, I've never been a big fan of either .

1800 is a VERY good starting point.... I ran a kernel when I had the International variant and it was FAST!! I think it was called "Bullet" kernel...?

I was looking stuff up on that today. The highest I could find documented was 1900 on the cpu and 800 on the gpu.
For everyday usage, overclocking is useless, even for gaming. Undervolting can be beneficial, but from what I've seen, the latest processors get approximately the same battery life on stock voltage as they do undervolted.

hey thats good to know...like i stated though. if there ever was a phone that needed over clock this one IS NOT it. i cant bog it down right now and believe me ive tried. someone out there might can but i cant.

I just like to play around with different kernels but the kernel I was using def made the device snappier and I had some killer benchmarks! But you are right though! Custom kernels on this device is not really necessary...
I plan on building a custom kernel then, hopefully tomorrow night or possibly Saturday. I do have some plans to improve it, but nothing related to the CPU or GPU going faster, just having other stuff operate better and getting rid of anything not needed.

I hope I don't get another lemon CPU... my TBolt's would only overclock to 1.4G, anything above and it locked up.

That's better than me. I could run 1200 for weeks but at 1400 about every other day it would restart randomly.

HA. My TBolt stayed stable at 1200, but ANYTHING higher than that and it would crap out on me.
I could run my bolt stable at 1700 all day. Kept it at 14 for a month no issues. Stayed at 13 the rest of the time. Course at 17 it was like it was running on a watch battery with the amount of time it would last. Lol
Eh I ran 1.6Ghz on my Thunderbolt 24/7 and with the 2750mah battery it lasted me days.
On a phone like that there was a significant improvement to the end user that justified the overclock. Now on the Note 2 I'd expect there to be very few who would want an overclock at all. I am part of the very few however. I play a lot of emulators on my phone and for N64 and Playstation I need all the raw CPU power I can get. Yep, even on this beast of a phone I still get some lag and stuttering on those emulators. The reason being is the same as PC gaming. AMD thinks that by adding more and more cores to their processors they can win the performance arena. Unfortunately they are wrong. Intel has the right idea, 4 cores is plenty now let's improve the efficiency and performance of those specific cores.
Same goes for our phones. Quad core is the most I'd ever want in my computers, anymore is just a waste. Now let's get better architecture for the processor to maximize clock-for-clock performance. And overclocking those cores helps it in apps that don't support more than one or two cores, because the baseline performance for each core is boosted.
So yeah, can't wait for a 1.8Ghz kernel

My girfriend bought a beautiful S9 plus and she loves it. It is a great piece of hardware, from design to speed and camera. Just amazing.
Of course i had to test a few things myself (still a rooted note 3 owner). I tried my old "Nemesis", Retroarch, with a couple of games (3rd gen Cave shmups) that put to shame every smartphone Cpu sp far.
The games finally ran full speed, except for moments where a ton of stuff happends on screen and the framerate and audio start going a bit crazy. What is strange though, is the fact that the Cpu never goes beyond 1.7 ghz, never once, which is the little cores max frequency. I'd expect it to reach 2.7 which is the max for the big powerfull ones, to further smoothen the performance.
Is there something i'm missing here? There is no power saving activated and the game center(?forgot the actual.name) settings are set to performance (though from what i understand it only affects display, not Cpu).

I haven't gone beyond 1.7ghz since my last reset, I did when I first got the phone but my assumption is that s new kernel was installed that changed the way the CPU ramped up (Exynos btw) to counter the battery life claims. In all honesty from my limited knowledge it's probably the GPU that limits the frame rate but that's only a guess as 8 cores @ 1.7ghz is plenty of processing power.

The S9+ is not rooted, so it's on stock kernel.
Also, the emulator (mame) is designed to only use Cpu for 2d games, with Gpu used at minimum.
1.7 is far from enough, especially when it can go up to 2.7 to improve the otherwise non-optimal performance of the games. I'm very curious what's the issue here...

Yea mine is stock as well - my observation was that in the first month or so I had hit 2.7 a fair amount, but haven't in the last 2 months once so assuming they modified the stock kernel

Edit: It seems that CPU Spy doesn't work correctly on the S9. When using CPU-Z and running Geekbench 4, I can clearly see CPUs 4-7 running at 2704 MHz at times.
That's interesting. So my next test will have to involve Cpu-z as a monitoring tool. Thanks for the replies guys.

Ran Antutu on S9+ Snapdragon last night, it's being throttled down to a max. of 1.77MHz and no more even during antutu's 15 minutes Stress Test. It would score much higher if it was allowed to.

God damn it. Haven't got the time to do further testing myself yet, but by the looks of it 1.7 seems to be the max. and not 2.7.
Any rooted phones owners care to share some numbers? Can you lock it to 2.7 like it should?
Are we talking Exynos or Snapdragon here? That'd be a good piece of info while sharing the stats!
Personally i'm talking about exynos, but apparently snapdragon behaves the same.

Yes, i tried all settings including performance mode. It only affects brightness and screen resolution. The Cpu speed is still limited to a 1.7 max.

I did the same, then I tried in WQHD+ resolution hoping that it may create more demand from CPU/GPU and no, same 1.7. What is the best way to make a complaint about it to Samsung? We bought an 8 cylinder Maserati and after the honeymoon they remotely disabled two because the engine might blow?

Probably the official forums.
It would be great if a rooted user with a Cpu oriented kernel (overclocking, voltage, governor manipulation) would show us that those big cores can, at least when rooted, be used at full potential.

Thanks, am gonna register there, see what they have to say about it. That and my other question I'd have: why I received my 'new' S9+ with IMEI SV 07? And when I did IMEI lookup on line, found out that the phone was registered for warranty one month before I ordered it. My email to Customer Service was returned with "Samsung sells only brand new phones". Didn't know that there is no replacement policy at Samsung, you can only return it for refund, it's not a good option for me, because I took that 'bundle deal' and I don't owe the Chromebook anymore, they would subtract some$ from it. Well, according to Samsung, the warranty on my phone runs until October '19, we'll see.
