I was a cell tech 10 years ago but now I am lost. I want to switch providers but keep my phone. Company techs say no way, have to buy new phone. That HTC 6800 and xv6800 look similar but have different guts and one will not emulate the other. Can I flash the mogul to work with verizon? If so, A few keywords for searching this site, to get up to speed would be greatley appreciated. Thanks for your help.
The phones are essentially identical if you put cosmetic differences aside. The real difference is that Sprint have that one's ESN number in their database for the phone, and Verizon have no knowledge of that phone in their database. So, if you call VZW they will say, "hmmm... nope, we can't help you." But, if you illegally change that one's ESN to the ESN of a valid Verizon phone, you can register that phone to their network. But, there is a little difference about ESN, MSL, MSID, etc. between VZW and Sprint... so if you decide to break the law well, make sure to research your topic thoroughly. It is possible though.

verizon now (or will soon) lets you use any phone on their network (provided its CDMA of course) so having them activate a sprint mogul shoudlnt be an issue

My Verizon rep said next year... and in Verizon time that means don't hold your breath.
i had heard some areas had started immediately following the announcement last november
So I did the unlock and put the new sprint rom on it. I then loaded the prl, changed the msl to all 0's. I called verizon to change it from my juke. They told me the esn is not in there database, she had to submit a form to try to get it changed, it will be some days if they do it at all. Is there anything I can do to get this to work on Verizon without them trying to add the esn and it possibly getting denied. I would like to get it up and running today. Does anybody have a way to fix this, that is in noob terms. Thank you in advance!
Yes, you can supercid it and then clone your existing esn onto it.

ok I attempted to clone it to my existing juke phone that I have active on verizon. When i change the esn I get no signal. Even when prl is loaded. When I change the esn back to the stock esn, I get a signal, but verizon won't activate that esn, they called me back and said its a sprint esn and they couldn't activate it. Man I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Can anybody offer some help, or post the steps they used to get this working?
any help would be great

vzw hasnt fully made their system open yet. they wont accept an esn that they didnt sell. so no sprint esn will be activated. the only thing you can do is change the esn, but since that makes you not able to get a signal, seems like you might not be doing that right...
i don't understand what im doing wrong
You're not doing anything wrong. Verizon WILL not activate any phone on their network that doesn't have a Verizon ESN. The mogul will run perfectly fine on the network, but because it has a Sprint ESN, they will not activate it. Now...if you're trying to clone the ESN of an existing Verizon phone, that's a whole different story and is quite illegal.
I don't believe that cloning the esn from a juke will work -- because VZW knows the phone type by the esn. It seems that you would need to use an esn from a junk mogul
give it a try?
the phne should at least get a signal from that esn though. It gets nothing! Its like I'm in a no coverage zone
i just activated my sprint motoQ on verizon. they did not question the sprint ESN at all.
flashed a vz image and vz prl, and all is good.

I would love to know this. It would cut my bill by about 75%.
Asking the experts...
I have been reading and following the titan for some time and are ready to purchase. Looking at Verizon vs. Sprint for new device, Verizon is way more expensive. Looking at eBay there are many for Sprint and next to zero for Verizon.
I would like to bid on a "clean ESN" phone for Sprint, then activate on Verizon. Possibly even activate on Sprint for some time then switch. (I have under 2 months left on my contract).
I have found a few that are NIB for a seller and asked for the ESN. He states he gives them only to the winner. I say red flag, but does he have a security issue (I could clone it??)?
And from above, could I do the double activate or if Verizon says it is clean only do it there?
Thanks.
I am also trying to do this. I have the cracking 6800 package, followed the instructions and was able to get the cid to all o's, although i am stuck in CDMA workshop and cant change the ESN because i am not sure what port to connect on( i have tried all them no luck) Anyone with any ideas would help me out alot. Also if the phone is currently unlocked with 2.4 loader but has the sprint 3.35 radio is it safe to flash to a stock verizon rom? Do i need to even do this? I have flashed with a custom rom then selected verizon as my carrier but in EPST config it still shows SPCS.

SHOW OFF.......lol

I have a Sprint Optimus S that has a bad ESN (bought on craigslist) it is active because the previous owner didn't pay their bill so in its current state it can't be activated. I am currently just using it as my homephone under my wifi network. I'd really prefer not having to buy another of the same phone just for network functionality (really want to get the $25 data plan). It is locked to Sprints CDMA network. I really wish sprint didn't make it so difficult it seems they have little interest in repeat business and the sad part is besides a few 1's and 0's they are the exact same phone.
i want to get a razr hd from ebay.. and usually the ones with bad ESN have a lower price.. I'm in India, so my question is if i can still use this phone in GSM network in my country, even if it has bad ESN.
i dont really understand the ESN thing.. i know it is something related to Verizon.
the other question i have, what if the phone is not "activated" in verizon, now assuming it has a clean ESN, but it is not activated in any company in the US.. if i put my sim card will still work as a GSM phone? and in case the phone needs to be activated in verizon, if it has a clean ESN can i activate it from my country sending an email to verizon or something like that?
I've been a loyal HTC user for a very long time (12 years). Well I bit the Samsung bullet and went to the S7 edge. But it's locked up pretty good. So I took it back yesterday.
Now I'm wanting to try the V10. But I'm on Sprint. And Verizon is the best choice to use. Can anyone dummy this down for me?
I understand the Verizon version is SIM unlocked. So it seems like I can drop in a Sprint SIM card. Change the APN settings and I should be good, right?
Verizon and Sprint both use CDMA+GSM(for Data), but as far as I know you won't be able to activate Verizon's phone on Sprint network. Both company has their CDMA inventory table and if the ESN is not registered in their inventory table, it won't activate for you.
