I have this icon in the status bar that I have no idea what it is. It's purple, square and looks like 2 sideways z in the box. It right next to the wifi signal icon. Attached is a screenshot. Anyone have any ideas?

Turn off NFC in settings and it goes away. It's defaulted to on.

I had that icon come up when I was roaming. sorry can't remember exactly what I did to get rid of it...
**EDIT***
just remembered! It was when I turned notifications off. Try switching Notifications back on. should fix it.
From the Drop Down, Choose Notification
-slide down the status bar
-find the notification toggle
-be sure it is activated (toggle should be green)
-done!
I too had your problem, I thought I could upgrade my phone lol sadly I was mistaken.
I do think that the icon could have been of a better design and as such more understandable.

I saw some videos where a percentage of the power shows next to the green battery icon in the notification area. Is there a way to set it up that way or an app to download?

Gsam Battery Monitor as sample

Edit: You mean Notification Area or Status Bar?
Cause next to the green Battery Icon that would be the Status Bar. You can enable the Percent Display in Settings of your Phone

Thanks to both of you! Done.
Hey guys, two questions. One, why do I have so many status icons on the right side of the status bar, and how do I get rid of them. And two. Can anyone tell me what the icon is between the GPS location and vibrate icon. I can't find the meaning anywhere. Thanks

Hmmm
You can get rid of the most icons but not all.
Lets start from the left side of the notification bar.
1. Saver- You can turn off the saver and the icon will go.
2. then You have taken a screenshot , so You clear it by pulling down the notification bar and clearing it.
3. then You are using facebook messenger the would remain their or simply drag down Your chat and the icon would go (Your chat would go)
4. You can turn off Your location services and the pointer icon will go.
5. You can turn off You NFC when not needed and its icon will also go
6. And among the rest , You cant get rid of the profile icon nor the signals but yes You can turn off the battery percentage ( but percentage really helps).
I guess i didnt help You much
sorry
This was a lot of help! Why would I need NFC on anyway?

The app keeps opening up on notification bar but I cant open it there by my own. When it shows on the notification bar, I am able to preview various icons on the led cover by swiping on the notification bar.
When camera is open, it shows rainy icon on the cover.
Is anybody else facing these?

I do not have the cover nor the app installed. And it seems that no one here experienced this issue

Thanks for the input. I realised it is not an issue but a feature to assign icons when the camera is open. Video recording has a preset icon, so does countdown in the camera app for the led cover.
