Finally have root for at&t lg vista!!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...lg-devices-t3049772/post59309508#post59309508
There seems to be a way to root this device manually introducing datroot.zip locate on the bts folder of ioroot and renaming it to update.zip, tou must put the update.zip on the root of your sd card you should need a format ext2 sd card, from adb input adb recovery boot and update the file via recovery that should root the vista. Let me know if it works

Anyone know how to get lollipop on here? Or any rom? I've always been more concerned about rooting for the sake of flashing but from what I've discovered there aren't any custom recoveries compatible with the G Vista.

You have to adb push files to tab while in recovery. For instance,
adb shell mount /data
adb push (your file) /data/media/
Hope that helps

how to adb push files?
this is coursed because the cwm that came with the rom does not support usb mounting.
So all you have to do is, put your sd card in anorther phone, and boot into cwm, mount the sd card, and transfer anorther rom, and put back the sd card in your phone, and install it. that worked for me
Galaxy Nexus
What if your using the galaxy nexus???? i need a way to access my SD storage through my MAC so i can put a ROm on there to flash it..any helpful tips?? need a phone mines stuck till i fix this
I have an AT&T locked x10a, I'm running 2.1 and it reads my sd card just fine. However as soon as I flash a 2.3 rom (custom or stock) it fails to detect my sd card. However xrecovery still reads it.
As soon as I flash back to 2.1 the OS will detect it just fine.
Any ideas?
i think the permissions of SD card in 2.3 is not assigned properly !! u might check the permissions
Do you mean going into xrecovery and selecting fix permissions?
I have tried that and it didn't work

Oh, yeah I tried using ES file explorer and went to /mnt/sdcard but it was empty.
Edit: Also whenever I flash a new kernel or rom with flashtool the program detects the sd card and reports the correct file size.
i rooted my prime and deleted some system apps.
now i want to update to .21 and is not possible (red triangle every time).
i factory restore my prime and unroot it and have the same result.
any1 knows how can i update my prime without unlock it and flash the stock rom?
thank you very much1
You can do a manual update. Search for this in the forum and you will find the guide.

By root storage, it means not in a folder on the sdcard.
If you think of the sdcard as a folder with many sub-folders, then you do not want it in one of the sub-folders, but in the sdcard folder itself.
I hope that makes sense and hasn't confused you further.
Would it be possible to upgrade a stock ROM with an official update.zip when one receives it? If so please post it.
I don't think so. You'd have to have root to put the file in the proper place in your filesystem. I don't think it would flash from the SD card without doing the rigmarole we've been doing anyway.

As long as the file is signed by Motorola, wouldn't it be as simple as putting it on your sd card, booting into stock recovery, and picking that file or naming it properly so it is picked up automatically? Isn't that what an OTA update does?
Again, I could be wrong, but I don't think OTAs are downloaded to the SD-card. I think they're put in /preinstall in the phone's internal memory.
Nah.. i went to official. 181 but putting zip on sd card ..

If you want it to be recognized as an official update (to be installed by the actual bootloader) you have to just drop it as "update.zip" in the correct place and it'll install fine. The problem is you have to be rooted to place it *into* that place.
But that's not a problem
if i get it.
i'll see what i can do
My phone is downloading the update. How to extract it out?
Ahh, should have explained. I am rooted, but everything is stock besides SU and Wireless Tether. :good:
I am using v2.6.3.0 and I cannot get the phone to recognize the sdcard in TWRP.
When using the phone booted into the ROM, it sees the sdcard and I am able to navigate throught the card.
I have tried mutiple cards formatted in FAT32, still nothing.
Anyone else have this issue?
LG Optimus G E970
Try a newer version, I think that one is old. There's a twrp for KitKat roms , use that one. I can use my SD card with no issue in recovery.

TWRP site only lists TWRP 2.6.3.0 as the latest for the LG Optimus G (the e970/AT&T one anyway).

I have a similar problem. I bricked using FreeGee - used LGNPST and teemys alt bin to unlock - get recovery. When I'm in recovery menu I can't mount any storages - Win 7 pc does not see any as disk drive. I tried using ADB to push the rom file on ADB push does not work I press enter after doing ADP push local/directory/rom.zip /sdcard/ and with the disks mounted/unmounted nothing seems to work. I popped out the SDcard too into an sdcard reader and the file format is unrecognized. At this point I have no idea how to get the rom into the phone. Any help would be greatly greatly apreciated. Thanks
same problem
I have the same issue. I'm using twrp 2.6.3.0 and do not see the folder on my internal and external sd card. Is there a newer version that we can download?
