Hi,
it is already possible to do it (although I never tried) by modding your second sim as shown in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56131654&postcount=68
Good luck!

Cannot be done. Wasted a good sim. The tray cant go in after the mod. Forcing it in will spoil the pin. I tried cannot work. Dont waste your time.
Omg this mod is perfect, but how we can "take off" the copper from the plastic of the sim and be able to paste it again in the sd card ?
The problem is that, since it's impossible to simply paste the nano sim into the sd card, the width is to big and don't work in tray
How do you take of the copper from the plastic @getmobilephone ?

I used nailfile to make sim and microsd card thinner.
Sharpen it carefully step by step just to prevent them from becoming broken. Then put them together in the slot(it goes there not so smooth as before but now i have 2 simcards and sd operating together)
Results and rate of sharpening you can see on the photos.
Profit.
But be carefull - All that you do is your own risk.
Just for info I damaged one 64Gb card trying to do this.

The fire method involves holding your Sim with a pair of pliers or scissors and heating the plastic part under the chip on a small flame ( matchstick, lighter, candle flame etc) to separate the gold chip from the plastic and gluing the chip to your SD card. Sounds weird but works 100% if you do it well
Thanx, i test it immediately and it seems to work Look at pictures. Now i need the Dual Mate 7

You're welcome
I tried the lighter method and it actually better than the nail file. The plastic and the glue will melt and you can easily take off the chip.

Nah, I've got a 32GB WiFi Touchpad and it has the slot. It's on all of them. There's a little plastic filler that moves around, but I can't seem to get it out.

I saw a tear down video and they called it a sim card slot.
Lots of HP products have these model/serial tags. Our Proliant servers at work all have them as well. They just pop out when pressed.
Mine pops out with a push as well. SN and MN, no SIM slot. 32GB here.
[Q] Unknown Port South of Volume Rocker
I looked through all of the posts here and couldn't find similar, so don't delete or move.
The area south of the volume rocker that pops out the serial number and FCC info. I have been suspicious of this for some time so I broke mine off. It still slides in and locks in but now I get to remove it.
Well it looks like some kind of port inside. Too big for a card reader unless there is a module that could be placed in the slot. Anybody else looked at this or know what it might be for? Any chance of a mod to make it a SD or MicroSD card reader?
Definitely some kind of expansion port..
okay, wow, this is interesting! perhaps our TP has some hidden qualities, from which we do not know anything yet i´ll stay in touch here...
It's supposed to be a sim card slot, but I forget whether or not most Touchpads have the actual board hardware installed aside from just the port. By the way, what is your TP's model # (from Device Info)?
I may have answered my own question here..
http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/...=11&tag=siu-container;photopaging#photopaging
Probably is a SIM card slot but looks like it wasn't connected to anything but could be room for improvement if anybody is good with that sort of thing..

This has been known and there is a thread already here. Another user decided to xacto knife his out.
I forgot where I read it, but I'm pretty sure it's a SIM card slot. The casing is the exact same for the upcoming (now-cancelled) TouchPad 4G for At&t. I guess it was a way for HP to cut costs.
it is a placeholder for the simcard slot that would've been available for the touchpad with 3G if HP did not discontinued production. that is all.
it's not a mysterious port, just a safe place to keep your serial number.

This ^. nothing more. Nothing about the "mystery slot" is usable in anyway "as is"
If, in any reach of the imagination a far reached mod involving adding a hardwired hack were possible, maybe, but it would not usable for the masses.

hi guys , just noticed that my HP touchpad seems to have a misc external slot seems you would put a sim card in there anyone knows what its for ?
its on the same side as the volume rocked at the bottom of the device
when I don't have any microSD cards yet? Is there a reason behind that name?

It has to pretend there's an SD card for backwards compatibility.
A requirement of ICS. Galaxy Nexus has one too, even though it has an SD card.
It's used to access internal memory as a backwards compatibility with older apps.
Correct, I believe an actual external sdcard mounts as REMOVABLE/MICROSD/
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Somehow the brainiacs that built these systems decided to use "SD card" as their name for memory hardwired to the board... uh yeah... logical huh?

Actually, it's an android thing. The first commercial Android phone, the G1, had an SD card as well as most phones after that. After internal storage started getting larger and larger, more phones and devices started either not coming with an SD card, or not even an SD card slot at all. The /sdcard directory is where all of your personal information is stored. Your downloads, your pictures, etc.
It is logical if you know why it is the way it is. I'm sure it will change eventually, but it could break some stuff especially if some apps have that directory hardcoded in their code.
Okay.... I stand corrected. I just checked the internal hardwired memory of my OG Droid - as legacy as it gets - and there is in fact a directory called /sdcard/ as well as the SD Card memory card
I still think it is a horrible carry over & confusing naming convention but I concede the reason & was wrong

Oh it definitely needs to be changed, no argument here. It's an issue with any apps currently using it. They just need to change it in the next major release and give developers enough heads up to change anything they need to.

Can someone help me with the missing part? I can't find if in eBay cause i don't really now what to search for....
Search my posts from the past couple of weeks, I've attached the service manuals in a zip file to one of them, might help you identify the part (Has a full parts list down to the last tiny screw).

Hey,
Found it. Very nice one! But, the metal mainboard protectors are not detailed there.
Searched the whole 6 PDFs but didn't find their name
I guess somehow a cheap local phone lab took it out deliberately because it an expensive parts (all 3 protectors gone (
What to do next?
Thanks!
You actually searched & found it ?! Well done (Most people would whine & say 'Give it to me now') Gold star for you
Not much of a hardware expert personally, I tend to leave that stuff to the experts. Perhaps KeithRoss or TheUnderling might read your thread soon & be able to help.

Hi Dude, and welcome to XDA.I disassembled my phone yesterday(unmounted mainboard and everything, till the last screw, not for the first time)and I have to say that I don't have these protectors, and I've never seen them.So I don't know, but I think this makes nothing. My phone never had these protectors, but it worked fine everytime. No problems at all
Just read this thread and I can't see the photos......

Ok....had a look at some pictures of motherboards on google and some video teardowns........
I am assuming those black plates are some sort of RF (radio frequency) shielding. I don't think they perform any critical electrical function. I did some part searches too.....without success.
My advice would be to re assemble the phone and use it as normal. If you notice any interference or static or any other "unusual" behaviour during use, then you will need to maybe contact Samsung to get those parts.....otherwise I wouldn't worry about it......
Edit.....I assume the picture below is what you're describing....

Hey
Yes you all right, I think that the exact description is RF shields… So it means the phone can destroyed perhaps a magnetic rail like on a credit card and so?
Besides that i hope i wouldn't be harmful to the phone overtime..
Also yes these parts are unobtainable, maybe you need to buy the whole motherboard to get those RF shields back....
It won't harm the phone if you put a credit card next to it as the card is "passive". You might have an issue if the phone is placed next to the credit card reader....or if the phone gets anywhere near something that uses NFC (near field communication) technology. But otherwise it *should* be ok.....

Managed to get it working. I just needed to file some of the microsd card at the highest or thickest point on the right hand side when placed on the tray. I wasn't comfortable pushing it in without first doing that as it was apparently tight. Destroyed a couple of sim cards in the process though.

It only works with certain micro sd cards, if you choose to use a larger size like 200GB, it won't work, they are slightly thicker, but certain 128GB does work, and it also depends on the sim that you use, some are made thicker.

A friend of mine paid some one in china to do this for him, it's basically same as yours with the micro sd shaved alittle, you can either send them your memory card or buy one from them, if they damage your card, no matter what size, they will only give you back about USD 45, the photo shows the results of the modification.
On the other hand, I had a few 4GB, 16GB and 32GB cards lying around, so I did some shaving of the micro sd, only took 1-2 minutes to do, and yes it's working still, the memory card is not dead yet:fingers-crossed:.
friends.

Hi,
Did you have 2 nano sims and a SD card installed without purchasing any separate sim extender?
Thanks
Sim extention, microsd extention or modify card all works without any problem on the G5, remember not all hybrid socket will work on all dual card phones, I also have a sony Xperia XP, sony has done something to prevent people using sim/SD card to work, future phones might do the same.

Hi guys,
I am from Germany and bought a Mo*to*ro*la Moto E in the US. Unfortunately I realized too late that the Tracfone US model does not support German sim cards since there is no sim card slot available. There seems to be a small metal cover where the slot shoud be. Maybe it can be removed?
Some Moto G models seem to have the same restrictions and although the cover can easily be removed there seems to be no way to use any other sim card because the slot is empty (no pins, no reading device or so).
Does anybody of you know if it is possible to remove this cover and use a sim card in the Moto E? I don't want to open and maybe damage the phone if it won't help anyway... On the other hand I have absolutely no idea what to do with a phone that cannot be used in German networks.
You probably also bought this phone because you found a deal for it on mydealz.
If you take a look at the thread over there you can see the Boardshots I took:

This is the rear facing side of the board, you can see the soldering spots for a sim card slot there.
I don't have one lying around, but I highly doubt it would help soldering one onto the spot.
The thing is, that the phone is also CDMA, which isn't even supported in Germany.
EDIT: Oh cool, you're living in Speyer! I used to go to school there ;D
That's right, although I did not find this deal on mydealz but on schnaeppchenfuchs. I was one of the early birds on that site who ordered the phone and could not cancel the order in time. So you think that - even if we got such a card slot -it still would not work on GSM or German 3G / LTE? I thought that if one was able to get a "German card slot" and flashed a German ROM, there could be a way to make it work... Too bad if this is not possible. What is the use of a phone that cannot make phone calls?!
What school did you attend? I was born in Speyer but went to Schifferstadt Paul-von-Denis-Gymnasium. Later, after my career in the forces, I went back to Speyer, but now I live in Oberhausen - which is still in your "neighbourhood", as I can see in your profile.

There is no country specific SIM card slot. The thing is that the radio on this phone is only for CDMA networks. And anyway, the Tracfone "SIM" is also still active somewhere (might be an eSIM) - and I don't think this phone has DualSIM in this configuration. LTE isn't even included in the specs btw
Flashing a German ROM is also impossible right now, cause we can't unlock the bootloader - so if we take a original signed image by motorola it will fail cause the model checks will fail - if we mod the model check it will fail cause the signature is tampered.
You can still use this phone as Remote for home automation, your FireTV (Stick), use it as MP3 Player (it even has a SD Slot). I think I'm gonna use it as offline spotify player at the gym, it'd fit better in my pocket there than my OnePlus One.
I went to FMSG, now I'm studying computer science in Karlsruhe
Ok, I have spent so much time on xda devs that I took for granted that there is an unlocked bootloader for each and every phone in the world! Well, since there seems to be no way to make it work at the moment, the Moto E will become a nice remote (although I do not really have much use for this) or maybe a music player for going jogging... Anyway, thanks for your explanations!
A friend of mine studied in Karlsruhe, too but he quit some months ago to start dual studies somewhere else. Too much mathematics and theory, he told me. Seems to be a really hard piece of work. Well, I could not make all this maths stuff anywhere. I was happy to get along with statistics in political sciences (which was even almost too much mathematics for me).
