UPDATED: added version 1.14 to this post (and pushed it to Play Store as well)
please let me know if it works good (doesn't reboot) when applying settings on stock rooted kernel.
Hi!
I'm trying to make my app TouchScreenTune to work on default kernel on ATT version of Galaxy Note. But since I don't have it myself (I have European Note), I obviously need some feedback from people with I717
This is for GingerBread kernel (however in the case on N7000 it works on ICS as well)
Could you please check if ToouchScreenTune test version attached to this post works with your rooted kernel? Especially I'm interested if it works with stock kernel. Just try to adjust SPen position to some extreme offset - you will immediately see it when pressing screen with SPen.
Thanks.
P.S. Description of the app from the Market after the break
----------
Market link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vital.tst.n7000&hl=en
*Requires Root*
*Currently supports Samsung Galaxy Note (tested on N7000), Galaxy S2*
*THIS IS TRIAL VERSION!!! FULL VERSION REQUIRES REGISTRATION AND IS PAID*
NorthAmerican/AT&T Note users - see comment regarding kernel below!!!!
TouchScreenTune application allows you to fine-tune settings of phone's touchscreen and calibrate Pen cursor position for every screen orientation (portrait/landscape...). (S-pen calibration obviously works only for Note)
It allows to dramatically improve responsiveness and sensitivity of touchscreen.
If you are using screen protector on your phone, the application will allow to raise screen sensitivity, so there will be no responsiveness impact from using screen protector.
This application allows you to calibrate amount of touch movement, when actual reporting of scrolling starts. That allows more smooth feeling of the interaction with the touch screen.
Without this application you cannot precisely draw or click small items with Pen because it reports position incorrectly - few millimeters away from the actual touch point. But this application allows you to precisely calibrate position of Pen touch on the screen. (Galaxy Note only)
Some common problems:
When first starting there should be popup from SuperUser application with request to get Root access. Some people say that sometimes it doesn't appear. In that case try starting the SU program first, and then this application.
This application supports standard Samsung firmwares - with custom kernels it may not work (however I have successfully tested it with some custom kernels)
Custom kernels: app requires kernel with KALLSYMS, so ask developer of your kernel to include this in his config when building kernel: CONFIG_KALLSYMS=y, CONFIG_KALLSYMS_ALL=y
Known issues: if when first starting application it seems to be not responding, and dialog asking to force close app comes - choose wait. This should happen only on first run.
Hi- I read sonewhere TST does not work with the stock att kernel. You need to root and flash a kernel that supports it from the development section.

I have the paid version and run rooted with custom kernel and can't get it to work
Sent from my note running a jelly bean key lime pie hybrid OS
It does not appear to change anything. I set the x and y offsets to 300 each and the target did not change position relative to the pen placement.

That's why I'm posting this test version here - I want to make it work
I have compiled it to work with kernel sources that were published by Samsung.

That is with stock kernel? Are you rooted? Have you seen any error message when you changed values and hit Apply?

My apologies...I should have been more specific about my set up.
I'm using a custom ROM based off the leaked ICS 4.0.3 firmware. I'm rooted with SuperSU, but the kernel is stock since we don't have source for the ICS kernel yet.
I do get an error message

Is this for GB or ICS?

This is compiled for GB, however in the case of N7000 it works on leaked version of ICS as well. However judging from your error - either ICS leak lacks Kallsyms support or driver is much changed compared to GB version.
I have also uploaded one more test version - which possibly may work better.

Parsing error when trying to install the new version.
Stock GB kernel does not have KALLSYMS. It was added for some custom kernels, though.
My guess is that ICS does not have this either.

Uploaded new version again - now it seems to be OK.
Regarding Kallsyms - stock actually should have it - at least according to kernel sources published by Samsung, and also some people reports. So it would be really nice if somebody with stock kernel could test it.

I bought the app from you off the market.
It did work on the holo kernel.
However, on Seraphim ICS build it doesn't.
I actually uninstalled the program.
The spen is off by 1 square in s-memo. Not too bad.
ICS is much better about the sensitivity and tracking
I had them set to 0 and 25 as recommended but like I said that was too much so I just uninstalled.
does not work on un-rooted, stock att ...
Good to see you hear, i loved using this on GB.
Running ICS from the collective, it loads up but won't apply any requested changes.
May have to wait till the kernel is released and KALLSYMS is added in.
Hi vitalij,
I am running a rooted but otherwise totally stock at&t galaxy note. I tested the application but couldn't notice a difference with the spen settings, even moving them to the extremes.
I tested the application in the marketplace as well. It would open and let me adjust the settings (again, didn't notice a difference) but when I applied the changes my device would reset. I upgraded to the full version and the same thing happened. When I redownloaded the test version the reboot fixed itself, but the settings still don't make a difference on the pen.
Hope this helps!

I tested your second version and is working...what i did Ok from what I'm seeing I uninstalled super su and installed superuser in market,,the newest update allowed a superuser prompt..which I allowed.(.I hit back and the setting don't stick,if I hit home they do when I ..and go back in the values stick))..and is super responsive holy sh!t...I can't even type its so fast..lmao..gotta work with these settings.,am running gb unofficial rom on da_gv2 overclock kernel,...dev you have something good going here ...good luck with progress this app will be incredible

Are you on GB or ics?
Why is it when i select this anytime after i reboot i have to select it again, certain apps like the Eurosport player, etc will not work properly unless this is selected (why is this BTW?) but why do i have to keep ticking it anytime i reboot, is there no way i can just keep this selected?
plus one, would like to know.....i have the same problem.
Doesn't anyone know about this, surely there has to be a way instead of having to select it every time it's bloody annoying
if u change debug.mdpcomp.maxlayer in rom toolbox to 2 instead of 3 problems should be gone. Reboot after changing to 2. I am on the note but this is what we have done for temp fix until devs implement the fix.

Cheers mate but definitely not there from what i can see.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Are you running one of the jellybean leaks?
Yeah Liquid Smooth ROM although even when i had Android Revolution ROM (before the JB leak) it was the same.
When the rom is working as its meant to you shouldn't need to touch that setting to get things working, I know you do at the moment for the jellybean roms, but it would be very strange for you to need it in any ICS stock rom.

i rarely if ever use stock ROM on ICS (or JB) ill mention it on the Liquid Jellybean ROM thread and see if nocast can do something
This is the Q&A thread for my Ganbarou ROM for GT-P7500, GT-P7501, GT-P7510 and GT-P7511 tablets, aka Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 10.1N.
V3.12 is ready. Sorry for the mess with 3.11. If you didn't upgrade from an older version, please skip 3.11. I fixed the missing TabletUI switch, made GPS working again and updated to latest CM10.1 sources.
This ROM is my first trial to build a Android 4.2.1 ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
It is based on CyanogenMod 10.1 but flavored with my small own changes as usual.
GApps for JB 4.2 is included in the ROM.
FLASH THIS ROM ON YOUR OWN RISK! YOUR WARRANTY WILL BE GONE AFTER YOU FLASHED THIS ROM.
ONLY THE ROM FOR THE GALAXY TAB 10.1 3G (GT-P7500) IS TESTED BY ME. THE OTHER ROM VERSIONS ARE NOT TESTED.

Tips:
After flashing the tablet seems not to boot:
Give it time. I mean a long time!!! It will boot. First time I flashed this ROM I thought it would not work, but it just takes a long time to boot. The bootanimation will be seen only short time, then the screen turns black. Just wait until the setup screen pops up. But it should take longer than 5 minutes. If the bootanimation is shown for a long time and the tablet does not boot, try
1) reflash the ROM
2) check that the zip file was not damaged during download (you can find the md5 checksums for all ROMs on my homepage)
How to get Developer options in Settings:
Click on Build number several times until it says that you are a developer
How to enable MTP:
Settings->Storage->Menu (3 dots top right)->USB computer connection->Tick Media device (MTP)
Organisation SD-card:
The original content of your SD-card is now in sdcard0/0
This is related to users management and I cannot change it.
LongPress on home button, then move finger up opens Quick Launch (CM10.1 feature):
Access QuickLaunch when the navigation bar is not centered:
First train your thumb to access the QuickLaunch panel with the navigation bar centered. Press the home button, then move your thumb up and the Quick Launch will appear. After you got used to it move your Navigation Bar to the left or right (whatever you prefer). Press the home button and move your finger up. Then press again just above the Samsung logo in the middle and the Quick Launch will appear. Still working on a better solution.
Show Pie-chart control when in expanded desktop mode:
First you have to setup the position of the pie-chart navigation in settings and activated the expanded desktop. After activating you move your finger slowly from the outside of the screen into the screen to activate the pie chart (works on all 4 sides). Just try it and be patient to get used to it!

SD-card messed up?
Files suddenly in a sub-folder?
Recovery cannot find backups or ROMS anymore?
That is a problem I run into myself after the first trials with my new ROM. What I found is that flashing the latest CWM or TWRP recovery solved the problem without copying around all the files on the internal SDcard.
Try to get the latest CWM or TWRP recovery and flash it.
TWRP V2.4 can be found in A1 kernel thread.
A link to the latest CWM recovery can be found in the CM10.1 nightly thread. Look for CWM:

The problem seems to be linked to the Gapps version. At least I read this in some threads.
Try to install the wingray Gapps which can be found somewhere here in XDA. I am using Smart Keyboard and do not have the problem with it. It seems to happen only with the Android keyboard.
I need to check which is the latest well working Gapps package and change to it.

I found the problem with the TabletUI not working. It is a (stupid) mistake in the build.prop.
It can be easily fixed:
Take root-explorer or similar tool.
Goto system folder.
Open build.prop with an editor.
Delete last line "tablet.mode=0".
Reboot.
Done.
Great work! best rom I've ever tried. I'll be downloading v3.03 later. I have a question, how can I boost the volume? when watching, I don't know if its just me or the volume is just low even at 100%.

Good to see an official version and not just a port. I was on your 9100 version what feels like years ago and loved it, so I can speak to your roms being well made; welcome!

I flashed this just to try is out. I decided it wasn't quite enough to pull me away from SlimBean, so I went to restore my nandroid backup. Nut now all my backups give me an MD5 mismatch error! :crying:

This rom looks really interesting, will give it a try when I have the time.
Few Issues
Alright, so I guess I'm the first person to try this out and report back. Well, I just flashed it and picked AOSP mod in the Aroma installer (full wipe, cache cleared, dalvik cache cleared, kernel cleaning script all done). Didn't immediately reboot after Aroma installer was done, then fixed permissions.
First things I noticed:
1) WiFi isn't working.
2) Can't switch to the toggle menu in the notification panel. Two-finger drag down doesn't work, either.
3) Google Apps was not included in my flash. This could be the reason for the above problems. Flashing again to see if Google Apps will be included.
I'll post again if things change.
Edit:
Flashed again using the default mod instead of AOSP. Gapps still didn't install, so I was never greeted by the Google welcome screen asking to sign into my account and such (same as first install). Basically all the above problems are still there when switching to default.
Gapps still add in my ROM. But its not install it because gapps code in updater-script is below the kernel code. So if kernel code got failed, gapps wont install. Sorry for the wrong kernel code lol. First release is so good hehe and thanks for all report. I will looking for these bugs.
Quick Settings are working after you flash gapps.

Hmm I think it wont damage your nandroid.. Sorry for that.
Flashed again with March 1 gapps. Toggles work, but WiFi still doesn't. :/
Nonetheless, the ROM still looks pretty great otherwise and I'm looking forward to a newer version.
The new version will coming and need some beta tester to test it.

I'll definitely make sure to try this ROM out!
Question about the photosphere... Is that included in the default camera, or in another?
Re: [ROM][04/04][X-TREME SERIEs][4.2.2][AOKP|CM] X-TremE JB ROM V.6 [AOSP|GS3-4|XZ]
So I looked at the updater-script, and I *think* I've got the gapps set to flash before the kernel. Here's hoping. The WiFi worked for me, the fifteen minutes or so I ran this ROM because of no gapps. Flashing this once my girlfriend goes to bed.

Code:
I am not responsible for anything that happens on your device.
This firmware based on Samsung latest rom. I made it for S5310. I have NO IDEA if it works on S5312 (Please test it)
Battery tips:
1.Turn off the Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc when you don't need that.
2.Remove unwanted apps
3.Use only 2G Network
4.Set your screen timeout to the shortest length possible
5.Decrease brightness

Warning!!!
THIS IS NOT MY VIDEO!!!
Finally a bloatware free vanilla rom.
Will test it tonight and post the bugs if there's any.
So far there aren't any bugs, the rom runs smoothly.
If there's any chance can you add the "skip track with volume buttons" option somehow?
Also I can't find the option to order the pull down menu buttons (Wifi, BT, GPS etc.). Maybe it's not in the official rom too (as I just got this phone as a second device I didn't checked the official one.)

I think that you can't order the buttons on the status bar(WiFi,GPS etc) in the official either. ( I am not sure)
If you want, suggest some improvements to apply on the firmware

With other kernel expect from the stock one, the fm radio doesn't work. Plus it is very unstable with non-original kernels
