During a mtb-trip the TP2 accidently fell out of my back pocket and got heavily scratched on the chrome shell just outside of the LCD screen. (thank god the screen got protected by the screen protector)
Would it be possible to replace this Chrome Shell and if so where to buy it?
thx
That chrome shell is apparently called a bezel (didn't know that - am not a native speaker) and that made searching quite a bit easier.
Ebay did the trick:

Chromed plastic
can we install this chrome bezle on the tmobiel version?
I doubt you can put it on the t-mobile version. Their version seems to be more square at the edges. But this is cool for the rest of the versions, I could put this on my sprint one when I get it.
This is only the front side right?
I'm kind of looking for a back cover. I've found one at cnn.cn but it contained both for the price of $90 approx.
Random question I hope I got this in the right thread
Has anyone ever bought a new shell for there whole phone and assembeled it themselves?
As i saw this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/for-HTC-Touch...s_JN?hash=item45ed6fbded&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
I thought it looked kind of cool and a good way to personalise your phone but i have no idea how hard this would be, any ideas?
Thanks
Rather than get a new one for 30 sumthing bucks, why don't you remove it, sand it and then have it painted black or even chrome?
It'll cost you a lot lesser. A black unbranded HTC TP2 should look awesome. The one from Verizon looks killer.
Have you ever done this? What sort of paint would you use? I don't think this would work as well as you think it would...

I'm not. I would suspect vinyl dye is what you want.
All those "OEM" replacement housings and such are crap.
They never fit like the original.
Think twice before trying to replace something like that, there are alot of little pieces and flat cables.
I`ve been modding playstations and such for years so i`m experienced to say the least but I wouldnt risk my tp2 for it.
ive tried this with my old phone...
it does not work well.. i tried with different kinds of paint, primer, sealer, clear coated afterwards... it doesnt work
the plastic housing we have and can get are dyed into the plastic.. its not painted or coated..
the minute you put it in your pocket or it hits your keys or something.. it will chip off...
i have the tmobile version....i thought i had got permanent marker on the gold part of the phone, but do any of u know if it is black paint under the gold?
i was thinking of getting a battery cover and spraying it black. Would it work?
i have painted alot of mobiles luckly for me my m8s dad owns a car paint factory i spreyed one chrome and used 2pac laqueer on the top ot was minted i may chrome my whole tp2 i am gonna w8 till warrenty runs out
anyone has experience with assemling/disassembling this chrome shell..?
i've got a big scratch/dent and i would like too buy a new one but it seems like it's pretty too get it off.. let alone getting the new one on, in one piece
Tilt 2 chrome bezel
Anyone know of a source for the chrome bezel on my AT&T Tilt 2?

I want to install the AT&T's Chrome frame on my Sprint phone and was just wandering if I buy the bezel does it include the power button? and if not does anyone know where I can get it?
I know this sounds strange, but I'd like a back cover for my G1 without the hole for the camera lens.
Does such an abomination even exist ready-made?
i dont know where you could get one. but why do you want one?

Why not just pop open the phone and remove the camera?
The bondo idea was the best, you could buy a new phone cover, chop out a section of the old one and use bondo to secure it, sand it down and it should look stock.

So in this area, you cannot carry a camera, but you can carry a sound recorder and 2-way communication device? Sounds odd.
I mounted a thin metal plate to the whole flat section of the back of my G1 so I could stick it to a large neo magnet that is glued to the dash in my truck. I don't care about the compass not working. Plus, I have tested it after about 6 months. If I put a regular back on it the compass still works great. No lasting effects.
I used the side of an old computer case. Cut out the shape I needed. I cut out a hole for the camera and speaker but you could just cover the camera and leave the speaker free. After I got everything smooth, I gave the whole thing a brushing with 150 grit sand paper in a uniform direction. Then I put it on my kitchen stove top on high for about 5 min to blue the metal. It gives it a great finish that resists rusting and isn't sticky or easily scratched like paint.

I am amazed that sticking your phone to a big-ass magnet all day has no lasting effects..
None what so ever. GPS works great. Accelerometer works great. Doesn't affect storage or memory. Again, I took the back cover off after about 6 mo. Compass works fine. Must be because it's solid state.
wonder if this guy ever figured it out?
very easy way would be to peel the piece of glass off the back of the phone cover and replace it with a piece of sheetmetal so they know there isnt a hole in it. you can get scraps from pretty much anywhere and shape them with a dremel...
Ok so on the tilt 2 it has a strap/charm hole to put well a strap or charm on ur phone, and i used it alot! But recently the little plastic piece in the hole that holds the charm/strap snapped off on mine, Does anyone have any good suggestions on what I could do, I'm rather clumsy so a strap is rather needed
Where on your Tilt2 do you have such a hole? Mine does not.

Its called a hanger hole, its in the manual
http://www.htc.com/us/support/tilt-2-att/tech-specs/
No my plastic cover never came off
Anyone got and idea of how to fix it?
Looks like the holder is part of the phone frame. If the little T-shaped tab broke off, you may be SOL on fixing it. Perhaps you could buy a broken Tilt 2 off eBay (I've seen them) and transfer the part, but taking a phone apart and putting it back together correctly is not an easy task.
I never would have guessed that hole was for a strap or charm, although that's quite apparently what its for. The T-shaped tab under the battery covers sure doesn't look strong enough for the purpose.

I never, ever would have guessed that that hole was for hanging the little charms off of. I once wondered why this phone didn't come with something like that when most phones did.

I use a strap for mine. It works wonderfully!
Wow that's great. Does anybody know where to find a strap that would be good to wear my Tilt2 around my neck please? It would be great for working while wearing a wired headset. Hate keeping it in my pocket and I'm not happy with any of the holsters. Especially that oem one. That sucker will help a guy lose his phone in a hurry...
EDIT; Nevermind. I figured out to search for the words phone and lanyard on ebay. Decisions, desisions.
Memory card lanyards work fine too. I'm using a lanyard for a SanDisk MicroSD adapter for my phone. It works great.
Whoa, that little plastic bit holding the weight of a Tilt 2 on a lanyard or wrist strap? Sounds like tempting fate to me. I never have used a wrist strap on a phone and this definitely doesn't inspire me to try it now, lol. HTC should have built something a little more substantial than that into the frame if they wanted it to be really useful as a hanging point for the phone. I have been wondering where the strap on the HTC accessory page was supposed to attach, now I know.

You are correct. It does look cheesy. However, so far so good. I do think it is important to be certain that the string of the lanyard is seated to the base of the "T" opening really well. Fortunately that is easy to pull off. Also I don't think I'd swing it around by the lanyard with the cover off. After a few weeks of using a wrist strap and a neck lanyard I don't see any signs of stress on the plastic. So maybe it will hold out.
It is very thin...I wonder if we will have any problem with bending or cracking the screen from bending by carrying it in your pocket??
Any thoughts??
Don't think so. Maybe if you put it in your back pocket and sit on it but its still a solid piece. When you look at the Evo 4G the phone is 2 pieces and actually has a week spot but i doubt the Note 2 would just bend or crack without considerable force. Just my opinion.
I would like to believe that this is a nonissue. Have you heard any of the OG notes breaking from being bent? Every review I have seen has said that this is a sturdy device.

No, I have not heard of any notes breaking. It just felt delicate to me...I'm sure it will be just fine. Can't wait!!
I would be very careful with this. I did see a post in another thread somewhere about a broken screen.
I work with a guy that has a Casio Commando with a broken screen. So....
Take a sheet of plastic and see how easily you can bend it. Doesn't take too much flex to break thin glass.
Anyway. If I get this, I'll for sure be looking for a sturdy case for it.

People said the same thing with the S3. Most likely because of the plastic feel.
If someone puts it in their back pocket and is well a bigger person, there is a risk or if they fall hard on their backside then that could break it.

That kind of force will likely damage any device.
I know I've read/seen reports of the S3 casing having small fractures appear that don't functionally hurt the device, but just creep you out a little...so I thought I would search for reports of similar on the Note II. I can't find any even though I was under the impression the casing is similar material.

If you are worried about it there are many vendors selling aluminum case backs in many different colors which would certainly make it stronger.

I wouldn't do it and certainly not for aesthetic reasons. I mentioned it for those who were concerned about whether or not the phone is sturdy enough with a plastic back. I have read comments from those who have installed these aluminum backs that they did not degrade the radio signal but those were subjective opinions I'm sure.

I watched the samsung testing facility video. They bend these devices quite a bit. It wasn't in English, but it didn't need to be. Its plastic for a reason. I've had my nexus fall 3 times while running on a treadmill. Sure the battery falls out... but not a scratch on the device and works just fine still. I had a Moto Razr Maxx HD which is, well, metal. I feel like that would crack the screen if its dropped before the nexus would.
Plastic has a lot more flex to it than glass (obviously), so any slight bends to the phone shouldn't be much of an issue.
LG G5 painted in plastic coating?
Jerry rig everything video shows alot of proof.
Most of the professional reviewers are scared to speak the truth. Why? Are you scared of LG?
It is a die-cast aluminium body which then has the antennas placed on the outside (because the signals wouldn't get through the metal) there is then a primer to help the paint bond to the aluminium and cover up the antennas. They then use a microdised finish over the top which is effectively a metallic paint.
It's not plastic it's just not been machined and anodised. They were going for a different take on the metal body that could allow them to hide the antennas.

Most concerning part is the display assembly. So thin that you can see the pressure points when you select something. Maybe i am to demanding idk, but all the different phones over the years i have never experienced such thing.

im pretty sure no one complained about such thing with S5/G4 and earlier devices that used full plastic builds. You are delusional my friend, they are missleading consumers, & then coming out with some bs excuse, "we are doing it differently, we didnt want to do what everyone else is doing" !
I'm not delusional, people just seem to have got it stuck in their heads it is basically a full plastic build. There is plastic in every metal phone, just of varying degrees.
I've no issue with the way they have constructed the phone. If you don't like it then don't buy it.

definetly, the chanfer might be too big, but still, they are fixing what was broken in previous gens, & there software is the top OEM skin out there, so yeah it will be a good competitor to the S7/Edge.

seriously… this device has not been shipped worldwide yet and people already start complaining about built quality. get a life.
i preordered my g5 including a free camera module and i'm proud of that decision so far.
all thats left is that they start shipping to germany.
I keep wanting to think that the GS7E is good lucking. Maybe it's just that I'm coming from the G3 but....it just seems too damn narrow! But to be honest, the biggest problem is that I can't play with the GS7E at any of the stores, they're all on demo mode...maybe I should go into another carrier's store where there's one I can actually demo. Can anyone tell me whether your carrier typically has its demo phones NOT on retail mode? I'm on sprint here (and still undecided between G5/GS7E/GS7).

I per-ordered the G5 and got it Friday. I have had no issues with. This whole metal vs. plastic issue is a joke. Structurally speaking, this is great phone. They had to switch to the thin metal aluminum in the back because of the void between the back and the screen when you take out the battery. And when you do take the battery out, there's very little to no deflection.
I have an metal body iphone 5s for work and i hate it. This is so much better.

I'm not here to insult, just to inform on my experience thus far. However, i wish you wouldn't be commenting so negatively on this phone without using it for some considerable time. A 10 minute in-store demo use of the phone shouldn't count especially when you are looking for all the negatives. When i pick up a phone in the store i look for all the negatives first before the positives.
Like I said, the look and fell of this phone is great after 4 days of use. The main selling point for me was the removable battery and the camera. The battery seems like it's very easy to swap and the camera is superb. I took it to a show on Friday and the pictures where incredible especially in wide view. I'm sure the 7s takes better pictures, but i really like the wide angle.
I personally don't care for all the friends modules they're advertising.
Had i read your comments before i purchased the phone, i probably wouldn't have bought the phone. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to answer.
