The earphone jack has gone kaput. The same thing happened to me thrice. The service center replaced the jack and all seems fine for now.
I had re-locked the bootloader (Code 2) & flashed stock + remove unlocked bootloader logo before submitting the device to the service center. They never bothered to check the bootloader status

Thnks ..
I have found a solution.. There is a little metal thing nearly out of the jack... Just pull out.. Its like gold color...
In any case I will change the jack

Will unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty of the hardware also ??(as Earphone jack comes into hardware i think )

My bootloader was unlocked when this happened to me. I reflashed stock+locked bootloader & removed bootloader unlocked warning logo before taking the device to the service center. They replaced the earphone jack. The process took 8 days & i was not charged anything for the repair. I doubt they check the bootloader status code in the bootloader.

Thanks bro. Worked for me..I have seen a youtube video and found the same solution as wriiten by u. Then i made a try and it worked very nice. @sonrics1993

Just got my sgs2 yesterday. Rooted. everything was okay.

The speaker is dead - No sound at all. no shutdown sound, no usb connection sound, no ringer sound, no media sound.
Tried : Restart, Switching silent mode on/off, switching vibration on/off, FACTORY RESET, searching the hell out of the web to find a solution on this ...
Please help !
I'm with stock OS, phone bought in UK via clove.

Are you sure this is a hardware problem ?
p.s : It's really hard to return a product to a seller that is thousands of miles away.

We can't be sure, but what you've said indicates that something is wrong.
Have you considered a reflash with the stock Samsung firmware?
Also, given you have rooted, you might be best to use a Jig to reset the number of "non official" binaries flashed, so that it doesn't appear to have been rooted, as we all know what some places are like with rooting
A test play an MP3 file on your PC .
Transfer that to sd card then while sd card is connected try to play via pc by double click . then open my files navigate to the MP3 and play it .
jje
Well I've just reflashed the kernel (from the rooting procedure)
No go
Will try to flash the whole firmware - downloading ...
this is sooooooo frustrating !!!!!

Okay, tried to flash the stock FM - flash went okay but the problem remained.
Flashed the newest firmware from sami with new pda, modem and csc - still not working
WTF !?!?!?

I think the same thing happened to me.
My sound from the normal speaker worked last night before I went to bed, I plugged it in and this morning my alarm didn't wake me up.
Headphone jack works
Headset speaker works
All sounds through the back speaker are a no go.
I tried reflashing a few different firmwares and still a no go.
Sucks theres no stock Bell firmware out because I can't get warranty until it is!
Damn

Hi there,
Got the same problem with my 3 days old (or rather: new) Galaxy Note!
Regards,
I sent my phone back to Samsung and they fixed it. It isnt a complicated repair it will void your warranty tho.

your problem is that the phone thinks that a headset or headphone is inserted..... try to use ur headset to prove this....
get the app that disable headset/headphone and all ur media sound will go to your speakers. i had this problem too and the only solution ive found was the app.... its not a hardware problem but a system bug....... goodluck
Hey, I had the same issue. Just buy a new speaker. MODULE-SPK+INT GH59-10917A. Changing that is piece of cake.
Just check a youtube for howtos. Buying one should be like below $8 on ebay.
It took me only 10 minute to fix it (and 3 days of waiting for the mail to arrive
cheers

I bought the galaxy s2 2 weeks back..and the problem that I am facing is whenever i use headphones for the music, after like 10 secs my phone hangs for some reason! I even return the set to samsung service centre they change the entire motherboard and everything but the problem is still there!!
Please Advise!

I have the same problem too...i have to remove the battery and set it up again for rebooting....
I have no idea how to fix that but i think it's a ROM bug and updating to ICS will solve the problem

try any third party applications and check problem remains or not...
eg : trail versions of Power Amp or Player Pro
What ROM are you using? Stock or a modded one and GB (gingerbread) or ICS (ice-cream sandwich). Because modded versions have different fixes for them to get things to run stable.
PS
What strikes me strange about your post is you said you brought this to a Samsung service center and they replaced your motherboard.
This implies it's not a ROM/software problem.
Did you buy a used phone? Also I don't know any official Samsung Centers that will replace the mobo for you. They usually replace the phone for some hardware problems like that (but it's possible I guess).
**Because if the service center replaced it, and you still have that problem, then they either didn't do a good job (because they should have tested it to work), or you have some bad ROM flash.

Yes they do well posted on XDA .

Thats probably true as well .
OP suggest wipe phone and flash stock GB rom to test .
Of course it could be your music is the problem .

I had the exactly same problem plus bunch of others which led to service trip.
Phone went to local service center and came back repaired, only to work for two days.
They changed the earphone jack and speaker modules on the first run.
Second time it had to be sended to service it had problems witn wifi and bt.
They changed mobo.
Third time proximity and lightsensors didn't work so they replaced the phone.
Last time my phone hung, the problem was my modded earphones.
I ripped the original samsung earbuds and replaced them with KOSS portapro's.
I had miss-soldered positive and negative on other earpiece... I changed the polarity, and now everything works.
Mysterious...
Thanks for the info JJEgan on the mobo replacements. I guess it's a region/location thing. I traverse mostly from Taiwan and Japan, and they just replace units with any hardware problems after they check it.
Back to the OP:
The music plays fine when earphones not plugged in right? I asked a friend who works at a service center here and he says it can be either the earphone jack is faulty or not connected properly (inside case), or maybe you didn't insert your earphones all the way (lol that's a stretch but never know).

Exactly.... it happens when the earphones are connected... but it is not about connecting it right or faulty....

[Q] st15i audio problem

I got an xperia mini from my friend to do something with the touch buttons (i fixed it with a recalibration), but i found an another problem:
If i connect my earphone, it isn't working all i hear is a clicking noise (all time when earphone is connected)
I used PC Companion to update to .62 but that didn't solve the problem
Is this some kind of software problem? (maybe a similar calibration problem) or i can put it to the floor and start step-dancing on it because it's hardware failure?
also i can't unlock the bootloader, it says it isn't unlockable is there any free way to change this?
Thanks
netpok
It may be hardware problem in case of ear phones
For bootloader check the service menu.

He said, is not unlockable.
If it says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No, then you need to use paid method, as fastboot needs to be enabled on your phone.

Mabyi test itif its a hardware bug ill go back to lollipop and stay there ifits working...
Have you checked your headphone jack for dust? I had lots of dust in mine. I carefully got rid of it using a needle. This at least helped to get rid of the problem, that it just sometimes recognizes the headset.
About the mic: try a service test: type *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialer > Service tests > Microphone/Secondary Microphone.

Yeah, I'd say, if the Service test works fine, its more likely a software problem.

but if its not working in service test only after a reboot seems to be a software bug too right ? anyway after i reinstalled evrything and let the phone boot up after evry step i did the problem doesnt apper anymore till yet im happy lol
