Awwww yeah!!!!! Been waiting for this. Running smooth as silk on temask 4.7. Keep up the good work RIPng
Kernel doesn't seem to flash properly for me. Kernel doesn't change at all. Tried on both cm11 and SlimSaber. Zip is a lot smaller than previous kernels though. I checked md5 to make sure I had the right file and it matched the AFH md5.

Just tried on CM12 which had AK80 originally. Still didn't work. Still had AK80 when I booted into it. The install script seems to be borked. It instantly goes from installing to completed.

I just checked. It's not the same. I did a repack taking the scripts from the AK 80 zip and it worked fine. I attached it to this post. In the zip that I downloaded from AFH, the updater-script file said "# Dummy file; update-binary is a shell script."
EDIT: Pic of what I mean attached.

It's from AK 80 so I don't think so. I took it straight from his zip file.
EDIT: Oh I see he updated his github. Doesn't work for me though. Perhaps he is still working on it and hasn't finished up work on it yet.

What happened to me is that it looks like it flashed fine based on the output to recovery but when I checked the kernel version in About Phone it still showed the previous kernel version. It could just be multi ROM TWRP being weird. In any case, the "old" installer script worked for me so I'll just use that until it works.

Hello Can i use this kernel with mahdi rom, or its just for Lollipo?
Thanks.
Running this kernel with the new Darkobas build. Sweet and smooth. I like this kernel! ?
Same question,
Will it work on CM11 ?
R77 is good on CM11 but it has panel color issue. When the brightness is on max level, the color of the screen will broken.
R18 is good but lost some of functionality like inteliplug etc, not to mention missing voltage setting for 268Mhz,
R21 - Never able to get a stable system with this version. Random reboot and failure to wake up after sleep.
For now, sticking with R18...

Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview for the Fascinate
// It took me a while to get it right, but here it is.
//Camera works, wireless internet works.
Haven't checked sound.
Don't know if phone or SMS works.
Need testers.
//How to install: DO A BACKUP FIRST!
Get the zip here Then get this. Go to recovery, do a wipe/factory reset.
//Flash the first zip, don't reboot yet. Go to Mounts and Storage, mount /data and then format it or it won't work.
//Then flash the second zip and reboot.
//After you reboot, don't do an apt update. It seems to bork things up for me. Using adb on your computer, type 'phablet-flash -d grouper -b' (to update to the latest).
Enjoy.
The above is the old way. Thanks to UnjustifiedDev the new build is below:
"Ubuntu touch
1. Download bootstrap http://goo.im/devs/Unjust/Fascinate/...scinatemtd.zip
2. Download preinstall http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-tou...blet-armhf.zip
yes it is 300+mb make sure you have space on your sdcard for it
3. Download layout fix http://goo.im/devs/Unjust/Fascinate/...layout_fix.zip
4. Reboot to recovery wipe data etc then flash bootstrap file first the cm-10.1 zip then reboot recovery
5. in ubuntu's purple recovery flash the saucy zip takes a while to flash make sure your battery is charged
6. Flash layout fix right after saucy zip completes then reboot
7. Note this a preview not a daily driver it is pretty cool but it lacks full features. Wifi works idk if sound works or data my phone is not in service
Source https://github.com/Ubuntu-Fascinate I did fix the layout no need for an extra zip next build "
You are the man, Unjust!!
Remember, it's just a developer preview at this point. Not much you can do with it right now.

Since the Fascinate is not my daily driver, I have no way to test 3G or SMS. Anyone want to give a try and post your results?

I followed the porting guide. Commented out AriesParts and Samsung-something-or-other in a makefile in /devices. Patched /kernel/samsung/aries/fs/proc/array.c and /kernel/samsung/aries/arch/arm/configs. I did some other other patches to a makefile in /build. I played with it for about a month using just the phablet-armhf.zip. I had it booting for about 15 seconds after a while. I was going through logcats and trying to trace them back to any warnings thrown during compilation.
Then I found out it uses the grouper image. Voila, instant boot. I left the changes in the source, though.

This kernel will be kept simple and inline with stock and free from buzzfree stuff..as the aim is a stable day-to-day use kernel..this kernel is NOT for those who want to break records..as i do not believe and rely on benchmarks..(its me..)
Disclaimer:
i nor xda would be at fault if something weird beyond my test results happen to your phone..also this is not a benchmark kernel..if you like crunching numbers and breaking records go use another kernel..this is meant to save juice and be efficient and stable as a daily driver for Samsung based ROMS..
Features:
- Based on i9205/i9195 source from Samsung OSRC(Thanks for the borked source)
- Fixed a few things left by Samsung to be broken
- Simple and no fancy stuff thats gonna bork your phones..more stuff does not guarantee it's better..
- User voltage control from faux123 for Krait CPU's..
- EXFat support(by Samsung OSRC..)
- OC(if already stable)
- will populate more as things get stable
- Selinux permission is set from enforcing to permissive via ramdisk
- insecure boot image
- Disabled Rooting security measures implemented by Samsung..
Pre-requisites
- Install busybox via CWM or via Playstore before installing my kernel..this is to make sure init.d and also some scripts work properly..

please report/feedback on any issue you might encounter..please do provide logs(last_kmsg, logcats, dmesg...etc..) so that i can shoot things out..i do not own the device yet and surely things can go wacky along the way..
TIA
kindly someone report if the build boots up..
What do you mean with those features?

new build up..here
Hey guys!
I've downloaded a V20h ROM, extracted some parts of it and put it in a flashable ZIP! There are two variants: The Full Package and the Light Package. I recommend the full one, but it is your choise. If you only want the modem, then take the light one.
All images are from LG source! No image has been edited in any way!
Contends
Full Package
Modem.img
rpm.img
tz.img
Light Package
Modem.img
The modem controls mobile data, wifi, bluetooth, etc.
RPM stands for Resource Power Management and, like the name saids, controls power to your modem.
TZ stands for Trust Zone. Read about it here
Compatibility
As far as I know EVERY ROM which is based on Android Lollipop (5.0+)
Only for D855
Why should I flash?
Because the radio was updated by LG in V20h and I think updates are always a good thing.
Responsibility
I am not responsible for any damage to your device. You do everything at your own risk. Do backups. Always.
Installation
Do a Modem Backup with this modified TWRP version.
If you don't want to download the modified Version:
Open a terminal emulator/ use in adb shell: Execute the folowing:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpm of=/sdcard/rpm.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/tz of=/sdcard/tz.img
exit
You will find three images on your /sdcard/ folder. Save them good if anything goes wrong.
Download ZIP and copy to your sdcard
Flash ZIP in recovery
Reboot and enjoy!

I doubt Trusted Zone and Resource Power Manager images have much to do with the baseband functionality. Modem only should suffice.
That said, I doubt there's much harm flashing them.

Hi.
Just reporting that I downloaded the Light Package and I find it very good.
For some time and using different Roms, I was having real trouble with booting and having no service.
I was going mental with it.
I tried other v20f and v20h but no good results...I flashed this light one and it all stopped.
If someone please knows if this problem is related to the modem or is this a know issue with the daily changes in CM 12? I am on RR v5.3.4 and with this modem all is sweet.
I am just curious to know the base of this problem which it seems affects others also.
By the way I always clean flash.
Thanks.

Now it's time to raise as always annoying question - which one is better ? Any observation so far ?
I'm on H - no issues, just sometimes after reboot (quite rarely, but still) I got no signal and have to reboot again (but it could be rom/Kernel related maybe as well). LTE speed and signal is fine and without problems.
Hey guys, I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm wondering if anyone else has compiled a flashable Aosp or near-aosp build of android 7.0? I'm currently on PureNexus, and I'm looking for a very minimal ROM as it's the only way to reduce the lag on this low memory device we all know and love (hate?). Thanks!

I'm 100% with you on this. Minimum is best. I was wondering where the homecooked 7.0s are too.
Way too soon for a stable aosp build.
You'll probably see a flashable, pre-rooted stock rom appear first. Often these are tweaked, debloated etc so can be quite minimal.
Experimental aosp builds will likely emerge soon too but if you're the type to moan about roms not appearing fast enough and the low memory of a device you bought then you likely won't like bugs either. Maybe wait for a bit.
I wanna post mine - but GApps FC (some location provider error) and I am looking for a fix. This commit didn't fix it and I thought it might!

Thanks but get same result --> I have attached another twrp recovery.log at bottom. It shows whats happening w/ su flash. I think LOL.
I had stock rooted but now am trying to get my aosp build up and running w/ no luck rooting. I am going to start over clean w/ fastboot stock w/o root and then try installing aosp rom and rooting.
I am also having the problem w/ twrp unhooking sometimes --- d**n N9 is very finicky!!!
Thanks for the help.

You can also just try flashing the stock boot.img
And then flash SuperSU

Ok finally got some time to play ---- fastboot is my friend LOL!!!
I used fastboot to wipe and start over w/ a clean tab -----> Only way I get root with my rom at current build is using twrp ---> flash my rom w/ stock boot image, flash supersu sr1 2.78 ---> bootup got root. That's all I can find that works. @USBhost Do you have an N k that allows root??? Do you have any idea what is going on with this??? BTW --- Trying to install as system install causes bootloop for me. So the only option I have at the moment is supply stock boot image and systemless root and w/ the rom. PITA

Actually I used the 3.103.10 upstream shamu files from The Flash's post(Will give credit, huge thanks) as base then cross compiled.

Sorry, uploaded quickly from phone, probably the problem, will fix as soon as I'm home (about 15 min)
UPDATE: Ok not sure how but when the file went from my phone to XDA the zImage folder was removed?? Will upload from pc. Apologies.
New link up, confirmed works.
Pending AFH Dev access. Use XDA download for now. 10/09 build confirmed works.
EDIT: New build is up, same date, but is now v1.01 from v1.0
F2FS is broken and is a priority to fix
If someone can test it out while I sleep that would really help spot any bugs or issues. Thanks! ETA for v1.02 is by Tuesday. I will not release a new build until F2FS is fixed.
Noticed a difference between v1 and v1.01 file size the latter being almost 6 meg smaller. I downloaded yesterday v1 and it was 14 mb and the new version is 8mb reduced by almost half. Has it changed this much? Just curious is all

Ah, yes, v1.0 contained my build environment's .git folder which took about 10mb uncompressed. I remove this folder and anykernel's readme from each zip to save some space. But Yes, quite a bit changed, see the changelog for that. Next build will have F2FS working.
Im getting some rr. Will look into this.

Ditto here on Dandvh's stock lite. Booted fine, but rr within 5 minutes of uptime twice.
