major issues - Asus Padfone X and S

I'm thinking of getting this. I see some battery issues, a few other issues. But none that a quick root can't fix from what I can see

[Q] Anybody having problems with 2.1.4???

Hi there,
I've recently updated my Archos 101 to the 2.1.4 firmware which has fixed the ridiculous bug of not being able to download anything but it has seemed to given me a myriad of further hugs to my device.
It'll slow down to a crawl sometimes and I quite often have to hard reset the device because it has crashed.
Is anybody else experiencing this and is there any specific cause for this poor performance??
I don't have this issue at all archos 70 250GB FW 2.1.4
I updated, not having any problems you mention!
The only thing is a I feel that my battery drains a tad bit faster (maybe I'm paranoid, I dunno), could be my nerves, I made it through a flight from LA to Fl with continuous websurfing and was at 49% when I landed!
Good luck bro!
No problems on my 101 either, on the contrary, with the latest flash from the market I can even watch bbc iplayer on it
There are actually 2 other threads going on the topic of 2.1.4
the problems seem to be hit or miss. Some people (myself included) have noticed a significant decrease in battery performance...others have not had any battery issues. Some people have all kinds of flash problems and youtube problems, others don't.
So basically, I say that if you are not having any issues with your Archos...don't upgrade. You can't fix what ain't broke. However, if things are all jacked up for you, try the upgrade and pray for the best.

CPU + Battery oddities

I'm not sure whether to have made a topic or post on Cleanrom ICS's thread but when I installed System Tuner (free), CPU0 bounces between 384mhz and 1.51mhz non-stop at a VERY fast pace, after a fresh reboot. As a comparison, my gf's Galaxy S2 Skyrocket w/ stock GB is stable at 384mhz.
On a site note: her CPU1 switched to 384mhz from offline more frequently than mine did. Mine wouldn't budget unless i rotated the phone. I removed mpdrecision from /system/bin and now CPU1 is doing the same thing as CPU0. (384 => 1.51 repetitively)
My phone did the repetitive jump between the lowest and highest CPU settings before, but I was stock rooted at that time. I have no idea what could possibly be causing this issue.

I take it the problem has been fixed miraculously on your end?
I take it nobody has a solution to this issue?
Honestly I think it's just an issue with the kernel (If it even is an issue). There are multiple threads with people having quirks with their cpu frequencies not setting/sitting properly. This would have to be something that HTC fixes, or a dev if they can figure out the underlying issue. I/many users don't have issues with battery life if that is your main concern? Unfortunately it's something you'll have to deal with till a fix comes around.
Yeah it certainly seems to be an issue with the kernel. I've been playing around with it and I've yet to find a way to keep the CPU(s) from spiking. I am curious how widespread of an issue this is. It seems to be a non-issue that gets ignored on the dev forums. Is this just because it's not very widespread?
If it's a common issue it may not be a battery drain but if it's not it would certainly explain why I can barely get 7hrs on low/average usage out of my phone on WiFi.
I'd love it if anyone could share any information they have regarding this issue!
Thanks

It's probably the fact that the kernel is from the leaked ics builds. Once official ics hits the kernel pulled from that hopefully would be better.
If it's really causing problems stick to gb. Id personally recommend dsb's kernel.
I reverted my phone back to stock (via ruu) and oddly enough the stock kernel suffered this same issue but when I flashed incredikernel the issue stopped.
EDIT:
You guys think this might be a funky HW issue?

[Q] TurkbeyICS V2. Battery drain due to usbstorageUnmountter

Hi guys,
I cant post in turkbey topic so looking for help here.
I swithced to TurkbeyICS V2 few days back, and did not encounter major issues except few bugs. but yesterday i was shocked because my batter drain extremely fast. this happened after i started using USB OTG.
so i checked BBS and found partial wakelocks for USBStorageUnmountter. i tried checking it in the procesess but cant find any. the only way to resolve that issue is to reboot my S2.
is there anyone else using turkbey that having the same problem? i used OTG before with hyperdroid and did not encounter any issue. i really like turkbeyics but this is quite a setback coz if i wanted to use OTG i have to reboot it afterwards.

[Q] Buggy software?

Good afternoon-
Great phone, but has anyone else had bad operating system luck? Seems like my phone is freezing and/or locking up daily, and needs to be re-booted. If it were windows I'd call it a BSOD incident. My S3 running Paranoid Android nightlies was even more stable than this.
Tim
I am not having problems like you report at all. The only lockups I had were during the brief period when I ran under ART, and they went away completely after I switched back to Dalvik. Note that under ART my G3 got really hot...
That is what I think is causing most of these phones troubles. I think they were designed in a way that is prone to overheating issues. I also think the designers tried their best to avoid overheating through throttling - which causes some performance degradation, and doesn't always work anyway.
Minor assembly differences could be causing major differences in how different G3s heat-load. This could explain why some owners who have reported lockup issues like yours have gotten much improvement by exchanging their phone, which is what I suggest you do if you can.

I agree with Trent. Seems some G3s just don't run well. Mine runs great. I have it rooted with xposed and have removed the bloat and no issues at all. I couldn't be happier.
I've even played some games for the first time on my smartphone including Asphalt 8 and I've played it for about an hour non stop the other night while I had time to kill and still no issues, the game played great, phone didn't heat up and get laggy.... Nothing. It just played.
Hard to say really what's causing the issues for some, could be a funky device, maybe a factory reset would help... Maybe people also should take a look at what apps and widgets they have running as well prior to thinking the phone is junk lol not saying that's you, just an idea

No problems with mine.
What apps and widget are you using?

It's a pretty random problem, hasn't happened for a couple of days. I run a pretty lean system, not a lot of apps or widgets. Maybe getting rid of some bloat would help. Thanks all, nice to know it's not something everyone is going through. I'm enjoying the phone more than I thought I would, been on the S series since the first Galaxy Fascinate, so this was a bit of a leap. The combo of Knox and Touchwiz did me in...

I'm wondering if the accessibility service has anything to do with these random shutdowns. I've never turned on ART, but with several xposed mods, tweaksbox, and some debloating, my phone seemed stable for the first few weeks I owned it. One day I had a random reboot. It didn't happen again for a week or so, and then it happened once more. A few days later I noticed one of my tasker scripts (which reroutes gmail notification sounds through the headset iff the headset is connected) wasn't working. I checked the tasker accessibility service and it had turned itself off. After re-enabling it, my random shutdowns soon returned.
Anyone care to try ART with all accessibility services uninstalled? This would include talkback.

[Q] October Verizon Update causes battery to drain quickly

Came here searching for anyone else who's suffering from this on a stock Verizon S9+ following the most recent security update but see nothing but similar situations after security updates earlier in the year. I had that issue too, and wiping the Dalvic cache fixed it. But I've done that twice now in a week and the battery continued to drain far more quickly than normal.
Anyone else experiencing this or come up with any other tricks to resolve it?

users of both the S9 and S9+ have reported similar issues with not much in the way of relief. Im very surprised that wiping the dalvik did anything in prior circumstances as its merely a container for app information before it loads to reduce load time
