Good USB cable for quick charge 2.0 - Nexus 6 Accessories

Can anyone recommend a brand that makes good cables for quick charge 2.0?

Monoprice cables are really good. All have a lifetime warranty too.

I just picked up this cable and I love it. Charges just as fast as the OEM cable (if not faster) and gives me a lot more slack to move around.

I can second this. Just bought a handful of these cables in different lengths and a few Quick Charge 2.0 certified wall and car adapters from Getwow on Amazon and have had impressive results. They feel and perform as a high quality product should.

I'd recommend USB cables with 24/28 wire gauge for quick charge 2.0.

I have this cable but it hasn't worked with quick charge 2.0 for me. I think quick charge requires the data line to work so that it doesn't kill the battery on the phone (i.e. the charger and phone need to communicate). This cable does work AMAZING on regular chargers though.

How about the length of the cable, the longer the better?

longer increases resistance and lowers cable ability. Now the difference between 3-6 ft is miniscule at best, certainly not something you'll easily notice. I need to also clarify that the cable works with a quick charge 2.0 charger, it just doesn't actually quick charge, only does a standard charge speed which is why I think it needs the data line.

How do these Monoprice "standard cables" compare to the previously mentioned "premium cables"?

Their longer cables are 20 AWG. Didn't know anyone made USB cables in a gauge that big.
Here is the one rated for quick charge on Amazon:
AMAZON

Are any of these Cloth Jacketed? I have better luck with fabric.

I have a stock Samsung cable ( pretty long) from a note 4 that works great plugged into my nexus charging block. charges just as fast as normal
Probably because the note has quick charge
Can pick em up for cheap ( mine was free since I work for a carrier)

Did a test with the Monoprice cable in the link and the stock USB cable that came with the N6. I let my battery get to 5% remaining both times and checked the percentages at a few intervals. I charged the phone with the power on, and only got on the phone to check the percentage rate. I waited till the lock screen said "Charged" to get the final time. Here's the times and percentages I got.
Monoprice:
20 min - 32%
30 min - 43%
60 min - 79%
Full Charge - 90 mins
Stock Cable:
20 min - 32%
30 min - 41%
60 min - 76%
Full Charge - 105 mins

I just got those monoprice cables too. I need to wait till I'm at low bat to do a test. These cables seem promising (they are so cheap) by the previous post!
Edit update:
With the 6ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/24AWG Cable w/ Ferrite Core (Gold Plated)
35min 11%-54%
22min 54%-81%
18min 81%-93%
35min +- 5min 93%-100%
(wasn't watching the time very well could have been much less than 35 also)
Total 110min +- 5min
Edit update2:
Test with stock moto cable
36min 11%-57%
32min 75%-89%
89%-100% (forgot to watch but it took about another 10-39min (max because I came back 39 min later but it said 9min left before I left))
Conclusion. The monoprice cables does charge a bit faster. The times for the turbo charge (both stages) happen in the first hour and you can see there is a small improvement with the mono cable

Faster Charging 2amp Touchpad Charger for $4.99

I noticed a lot of people want a fast charger for the Note. This charger is for the Touchpad. I have this and it works really well. It charges faster than the OEM charger that came with the Note.
Not to mention, it is on sale right now for less than $5. Go grab one. From past experience, I used this at 15% battery life and charged for an hour and I was back over to 80%.:victory:

Yes, it is a micro USB cable. One end is USB and other is micro USB. The cable length is longer than most phone cables. I haven't measured it, but from my plug to my desk, I still have excess cable compared to the original one from the phone.
Thank you, getting one!
This have been discussed hundreds time before....
That 1amp is the output of the charger which forwards the current to kernel of the device... NOTE can only intake 1 amp current... ( remove your battery and read the dam sticker :thumbup
Even though you will supply 2 3 4 5 amp... The maximum in would be 1 amp ONLY...
SECONDLY, micro usb cables have a restriction of carrying current... They cannot pass more than 1 amp current successfully... Therefore galaxy tab series does not come with micro usb slots....
Lastly my recommendation would be NOT to waste money on any other chargers...

It has been discussed, but it DOES charge faster than a conventional 1amp charger. If you don't have the charger and have nothing to compare with, then I don't think you can say it does not work.
Go check FCC about the charge. Also, the cables provided DOES carry a 2amp charge. Our note can handle fast charging but throttles down to a slower charging rate after 80%.
having a micro usb slot or not have a micro usb slot has nothing to do with the current it can handle.
Ipads and Iphones have the same connector but yet one has a 1amp charger and the other a 2amp charger.

You don't have to get your panties in a twist. Rather than just read forums and assume the worst of everything try it for yourself. I've tried both and it is faster. Just trying to help my fellow Note users to get the best out of their phones.
btw, what are you screaming about pull out the battery and read? you tell me what you want us to know. RATED: 3.7V; 1500mA... WOW ok that proves your point...sigh:silly:

As an HP TouchPad owner, I can confirm that the cable provided with the charger are 'special'. My TP will not charge with any other MicroUSB cable connected to the official charger, the same cables which won't charge the TP will charge the Note. (I also own the HP touchstone dock, which the TP spends most of it's life sitting on.)

I have four different wall chargers, including two of this HP barrel adapter (one that came with the TouchPad, one that came with the Touchstone). With the supplied cable, it does charge the TouchPad very quickly. From webOS, the net charge rate is about 1.6 A with the screen on, so probably close to 2 A coming out the USB port.
However, when you plug a Note into this charger, the Note will still only draw 1 A. I have other AC chargers that are also able to supply 1 A to the Note, so in that respect this HP charger isn't anything special. However, it is only $5, which is a good deal.

I've found that the microUSB cable that comes with the Note, when paired with the HP TouchPad's AC charger, will supply 2 A. At least, that's what the OS reports: /sys/devices/platform/usb_gadget/current-mA shows "2000". Plugging the TouchPad into the Note's AC charger shows a value of "900". Plugging it into my laptop's USB port drops that value down to "500", as expected.
I bought two a week ago off Amazon for $10 each. $5 each with free shipping is a steal. I picked up three more. Thanks for posting this deal. I get 1A charging with either the stock charger or TP charger. I like to have a few extra chargers to sprinkle around at home or work (for my Note and the other devices I own that charge off USB.... including a TP).

When you charge your phone using this HP microUSB cable, do you have issue with NO DEEP SLEEP when unplugging the Note from the charger?
There has been issues reported in XDA where, depending on the USB cables used to charge the Note (connected to computer OR power charger), if you unplug the Note, it will not go DEEP SLEEP, causing significant power drain.
This does NOT happen when the Note is charged using the cable that came with the Note.
Download Current Widget from the play store. Add widget to home screen and you will realize that your phone is not charging any more than 1 amp as designed.
Try the usb out from your pc and you will see about half an amp.

I have the galaxy tab brick charger the HP touch pad charger and my note charging brick....the touchpad charger works faster...but I feel like it doesn't get fully charged..seems to die faster?. I used the galaxy tab brick...slow to charge warms my phone up nicely...I'd stick with the original note charger.

I charge my Note overnight using my Touchpad's MicroUSB cable plugged into the Samsung charger, and I don't experience any difference in power drain.
Where is that post from the guy who put all these petty arguments to rest with scientific tests of all the various options and results??
Good lord people it's a charger for a phone .. no need to get so heated!
(unlike my stock charger.. which gets very heated!)
great price!!!
ordered 3 of them
the price is way cheaper than just a single micro usb cable shipped from other stores
i have 3 already
1 at work, 2 for home.
definitely faster than OEM. I charge overnight, no issues. had for around 5-6 months now. and i can use the phone while charging.
fact is that it DOES charge faster.
i recommend it

Great price I bought 2!

Fast charge cable 1000mA+

so got tired of not finding a fast charge mod so I mod the cable.
took a realy thin cheap USB cable and cut it in two. on the phone side chortsircut the data cables (white and grean) then connected the vcc+ and ground- normal.
the only reason I cut it in two was to be able to tread a shrink tube on the cable.
now I get fast charge from car and power pack and. and it works perfect.
now stop saying u need a special or expensive cable.
u need a knife and shrink tube and a heat gun (a cigaret lighter works)
and no u can't use this cable for datacynk only charge

Cool, thanks man, I'm gonna do that.
Why blow data when you can just get a cheap 4$ cable from newegg with 22 awg power leads. I linked it in confirmed usb cable thread. You destroyed a cable and made it special, hence using a special one instead of standard. The base is pre shorted. You increased AWG technically. Get it? You made a charge only cable, when these are special and can be had cheap anywhere. Buy a nice 4$ standard one with the right power lead awg and you can use it for anything.
...or.. Crazy idea here. Get an Android charger?
Cutting up USB cables is a bad idea, especially shorting them out. The data pins are not supposed to be shorted, generally 200Ohms is expected.
They are suppose to be shorted with fast charge... the base normally does this on plug in on AC switch. A USB3 port also does this... all he did was make a charge only cable. With fast charge 2 though, you won't make it much past 1A this way, just like USB3. Why our stock cable has thick power lead AWG and the phone can reach 1.8A.

As I said, 200ohm, not shorted... Anyway.
unless the plugg that u connect the USB cable in i sent chortcircut it won't fast charge whatever cable u use. this is for making a charge cable to use with carcharger ore power packs. of u use a wallcharger it's 99% certain it is already chotend and u don't need this. but if u use the original cable (fastcharge) it won't fast charge in a power pack or car charger.
and I charge att same speed with this cable then original charger cable that came with the phone. measured 1.8a with this cable that's all my Powerpack can output. can probably go higher depending on how mutch the phone can use.
it's li-po so should be able to charge 0-100% in 20min but whill shorten battery life and don't think oer phones can handle it
I fast charge with 3 different cables. Again, it's the AWG. Facts don't lie. My power pack and car charger are pre shorted, so all good. If not pre shorted though, you are correct sir.
my wasn't that's why I made this. so no matter what cable used it won't fast charge. Som people also say u have to by a expensive cable with is bull####
if someone can provide a link with a preshortens cable... well then show it. unable to find any
It is legit. I did this with a car USB cable when I had my One X. It would only charge at USB rate (500ma) even though it was a 1A charger. Using navigation the battery would discharge faster than it charged. Tried various cables, and only got it to work by shorting the data pair. After that it charged AC at full 1A.

Not always. My car cigarette adapter is modded to short data pins. It fast charges all my other devices and even my tablets, but doesn't even charge my G2. It says its charging, no slow charging messages, but still depletes battery. Only way toncharge in my car is to use the second USB port that is unmodded, which slow charges. Annoying.
I still think there is a software bug limiting the charging speeds because you can get different speeds by plugging in the same cable mulitple times.
-sent from my LG G2 using XDA Premium 4
We aren't saying you are wrong, you are just doing something different. It's not about expensive, its about thickness for the combo usb cable. Just the awg. What your solution does is increase awg. They are called charge only cables (pre-post short). What people were searching for are COMBO cables. You are using/doing something different. Why titles are called "working USB" cables, not charge only. We already knew this. There is bugs. That was apparent in the voltage testing. Something in the kernel isn't playing right at all times. I have seen this on my car charger. With no change in conditions, I can sometimes charge 200mA's higher with a replug.

The included home charger for the G2 is rated at 1.8A -- use anything smaller, and you'll see the pop up warning on the phone that charging will be slow and that you should use the "official" charger.
My guess -- if you can find a car charger that actually will put out as much as the phone wants to draw (e.g., 1.8A), and THEN use your shorted data lines, you'll see fast charging of the G2 in your car.

The 3SIXT micro USB charger I have is rated to 1A not modded, just bog standard. When charging I checked the battery stats and it says AC charging. Now I don't know if it has the data pins pre-shorted, but it managed to boost my battery by 10% in under 20 minutes. The phone was idle, but that's not bad going for a 1A $10 charger.

not true have tried 3 other chargers 1.2 1.0 and 0.8 all say fastcharge (ac) with my modes cable. as long as it's over 500ma and with a cable with data pins shortend the slow charge warning is removed an the phone thinks it's charging from ac
charging my phone now with a Powerpack with 1a output and it says fastcharge (ac)
if I use the original cable it goes to slowcharging 500ma iv meshurd befor I put on the shrinking tube for isolation
and a car charger can output in theory 5-20a depending on your fuse in the car
the charging current is controlled by kernels in so phone. my old sensation u culd mod with a fastcharge Kernel so it never limited to 500ma always use max.
Samsung even has the ability to do a full charge in 30min but disabled in Kernel.
lg - g2 uses lipo battery's and culd actually be charged in less then 20min but if we do that u have to replace the battery every 6month at the best.
and lipo are extremely sensitive to over charge and the cells have to be charged with precision balans not to explode or swell.

Wireless charger??

I'm rocking the zero lemon battery and since I've bought plenty of chargers and none seem to fix my slow charging problems is there any wireless chargers? Will me using the zero lemon battery not allow me to use a wireless? Also if all this is fine, does anyone have any recommendations??

Even though you can try to use that battery with wireless charging it won't fix your slow charging rate. Wireless charging goes max to 0.6 A (600 ma) when it comes to charging. So it's 1/3 the speed of your regular wall socket charger.

When I say slow charging I mean it comes up on my screen saying charge it with the cards given. It charges about 30% in about 9-10 hours.

Something is wrong with your charger or cable then. My ZL charged from ~78%-100% in about an hour last night. The plug adapter that came with the phone and a USB cable I've used for a while, from a Nook I think. Wireless will be VERY slow. It's fine for topping off, but if you drain it down you will want to use a wired charger. You can use a wireless charger with the ZL, there's some info in one of the threads talking about what you need to order. You can't use the contacts on the back of the phone for it, you need to use one of the low profile USB plug type.
If you want fast charging you need to use the adapter that came with your phone, or another known good adapter, and a good quality USB cable. It doesn't have to be USB3, a USB2 cable will work fine, but it needs to be good quality. Monoprice is a good place for inexpensive, but good quality cables.
If you are connecting to a computer USB port, you will charge slow unless it's a USB3 with a USB3 cable.

I've bought a couple chargers on eBay and they said it was OEM, but neither have worked. One was a Motorola and the other was one specifically made for the Note 3, or so it said.

Didn't you get one in the box your phone came in? Try that one. Like batteries, chargers are often fake and don't meet the specs they list.

Try a usb 2.0 cable to charge it.
The little extra part for the 3.0 seems to have gone bad in my phone after only 4 months.
If I charge it with the cable that came with it, I have the results you are saying.
If I charge it with a 3 year old usb 2.0 style charger, it charges fine.
Good luck!
Get a usb voltage/current tester. They are like $10. You can test all your chargers and cords and find the under performers.
My phone with zerolemon charges fast with the original samsung charger, and my Asus t100 charger. Fast being relative, from 20% to full it can take 4 hours or so. I've never timed it 100%

Yes, it drops to 97% straight away. This is because it drains in the background a little as the charger doesn't trickle charge. See this for an explanation http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...bump-charging-and-inconsistent-battery-drain/

Anyone else running official QC 2.0 chargers?

I just picked up a certified Quickcharge 2.0 from puregear (Very nice charger). Problem is it still only pulls 1.25 amps an 6v (I charged it at 70%). Will it pull more at a lower percentage? Such as a full drain?
How did you meassure that ?
and
How long does it take to charge from 0% to 100 % ?

Used an Abovetec USB power meter. Took readings over 3 different high speed cords and both USB an Mag Charger. I don't have a zero to 100 time yet. I'm actually doing that today. I have got a periods of 1% increases in under 45 seconds.
Is it an in-line meter? The meter may be preventing the quick charge. Quick charge uses higher voltages (9v, 12v)

Yeah quick charge 2.0 uses 9v so outside of what that meter is capable. Not sure how it would affect it though.

Yea, it definitely limits it. When I ran the stock charger on the mag port vs my Z2 tablet with the Puregear QC it was no contest. My tablet charged faster than the phone. It's strange though, I've noticed two things.
1. The Mag port only works with certain USB's when paired with the QC.
2. The charging is progressive. The charge isn't instant, walk away an give it 4-5 mins an then it begins to seriously charge fast.
My Current setup.
QC 2.0 ~ http://www.pure-gear.com/shop-by-category/power/extreme-usb-wall-charger.html
NOTE: THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH THE STOCK MAGNETIC CHARGER
USB ~ http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1NBJYPBZZRRZRVD7JBKC
This one I found does... That said it's doesn't charge "quite as fast" maybe a 5-10% difference. + I like the look an feel of the Pawtec, it's very solid.

So it can quick charge through the magnetic port?? Your observation about it taking a little while makes sense, I've read that it starts off at the standard 5v 1A, then kicks into the higher voltages if both devices negotiate properly.

You can but I don't think it charges as fast. That said I use that setup for night charging, as we all should. I think it's very important to use the mag port when time isn't essential in order to preserve the ports.
Also note, when I ran the puregear with the pawtec from zero (I ran the battery out 100% till death). It would not charge/register? I have no clue why but I suspect it's something with the charger registering something. Anyways as soon I charged it enough to turn it on with the stock charger, I then switched back to the QC and ran perfect.
Btw ~ The puregear and the motorola turbo charger are the same price, free shipping just tax for both. The puregear is super small unlike the turbo charger, it definitely looks cool as hell, especially with the pawtec.
Fantastic, thanks for all the info! I agree, I always use the mag port, I can count in single digits the times that I opened the flaps on my Z2 and my Z3 will be the same.

SuperCharge chargers - will it work with any cable?

After ages I managed to find one place where I can order a SuperCharge original charger for P10 (Huawei HW-050450E00 SuperCharge)
However, the cable is not included. Will I get super charging with any cable?

The original cable that came with the phone...Yes
High quality ones (20AWG or better)...Yes (this is what I use)
Cheap nasty ones off ebay....possibly, but doubtful. The phone may still say "Fast Charging" as the charger will identify itself to the phone as a Super Charger, but the phone won't be able to draw the same power as through a decent cable. And you risk damaging the cable and/or phone.
As in all walks of life, you get what you pay for!
Can you recommend me a cable which should work fine?

I've used cables by Aukey, Anker & Tronsmart. All decent brands and cables, even if they don't mention an AWG figure. Plenty on Amazon. For example, this was the last pack I bought... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01E4Z6OUG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But they do sell them as single cables as well
You get quick charging with these, not super charging. Which is still ok, I know

Well they certainly Super Charge my p10, both on a mains and car charger. Noticeably faster rate than when using the Fast Charger I got for my P9.
Edit:
My apologies, I linked to the wrong cables! For some reason I thought I was on the P9 forum & we were talking about fast charge, not Super Charge!
You are quite correct, the ones I linked to above are Fast Charging at max. Agreed though that this is still quick!
This is the Super Charge cable I bought.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071XTBZGP
Thanks for the update, I was buying this, but for some reason they do not deliver to Romania...

Very few non "Original" Super Cables around at the mo, but this is one I'm probably going to get as well.... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/PZO...-Type-C-USB-C-For-Huawei-P10/32813218430.html
Worth trying for the price I think, only issue with AliExpress is the delivery time!
Already ordered one, should be here by July

Thanks for finding this, I've wasted my time buying 2 different cables that don't work. The OEM cables are just too short.
Huawei Super Charge works using this cable:
https://banggood.com/Orico-AC5-5A-1...ick-Charge-and-Sync-Data-Cable-p-1162313.html
It must be 5A approved.
Anyone knows why the Huawei 5A SuperCharge won't work with an LG G6? I mean I plugged it in, the phone says it's fast charging, but if I start using it while charging the battery level goes down.

you need to get a 5A cable to have supercharge, anything below that will be fast charge or charging indication only
P10 supports two faster charging standards, I don't have the numbers in front of me but it can use both 9V with 2A and 5V with higher A than the usual 2. This is undocumented and I found out by accidentally using my old phone charger.
