how i can fix this? Imei certi; fail
If you don't have a backup, Use Odin to do a clean install. Can try a factory reset 1st. Both will wipe device backup....

Would I be soft bricking my phone if I was to do any of these:
Format/ cache
Format/ system
For/ data
For/ sdcard
For/ enmc
Wipe data factory reset
Wiped cache partition
Wiped delvick cache
Wipe battery stats
If I was to carryout these steps at once in recovery would I softbrick my phone and if I do do that would I still have access to the download mode.

One more thing how do I get around md5 mismatch for the backups I have when I try to recover them. This md5 mismaych hasn't allowed me to recover nor one of my latest backups, I am hvimg to use a very old backup.
Yes you would soft brick your phone, you would just need to flash another rom via CWM or odin (Download mode).
You would also wipe both your SD cards, and basically everything else.

well in the first place only a person who's gone out of his mind will do all of those steps in one go so that his phone soft bricks to match his mind that has already been (Soft Bricked)

Question answered.
I'm running an encrypted OnePlus One. I went in to recovery, did a nandroid backup, then did a wipe data to test something. The phone booted fine after the wipe. Then I went back in to recovery and restored my nandroid. Now the phone won't decrypt and says I need to factory reset. Says something like "Your password is correct but decryption failed" ... Is there a way to recover my data, or am I screwed?
How to restore a nandroid backup as exact state when I backed it up ?
I restore Nandroid backup this way = in TWRP 2.8.5.0
1. Wipe Cache
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
3. Factory Reset
4. Restore Nandroid Backup
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Reboot System
7. Stay some time in Manufacturer boot screen
8. After 2 -3 mins, starting to bootloop.
I am restoring backup stock over stock. Never installed Custom ROM.
I brick my phone by installing some MODs I made myself or by some other developers. (Like XtremeMusic MOD bricked my device etc.).
Well. I can get back my phone at working state if I wipe everything. Wipe everything before restore and Dalvik Wipe, Format Data , Factory Reset (This is compulsory otherwise welcomed with bootloop) after restore in a order to restore Nandroid at my phone.
Well. This won't bring back my phone at exact state I backed it up.
So whats the fix ?

My phone was dead due to unknown reason. It was very slow for last couple of days, so I reboot the phone into recovery and then wipe cache and dalvik. After the wipe I reboot the phone but it stuck on Samsung logo. So I tried different unsuccessful methods like, flash stock ROM, etc...
After flashing the stock ROM, rebooted the phone into recovery for factory reset, then only I noticed the error E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument).

I had this exact same problem all week.
There are a few steps you need to take before you can get your phone back to normal.
Step 1. DO NOT wipe the efs. Doing so will wipe your IMEI and serial number therefore never letting your phone connect to a cellular network again.
Step 2. Flash TWRP with ODIN and backup your efs using TWRP (make sure to keep this backup on your PC)
Step 3. Get the zerolte PIT file and the BTU stock ROM (Flashing my original stock rom didnt fix the issue so I used BTU and it fixed it)
Step 4. Flash the PIT file using ODIN and wait for your phone to restart. Then enter download mode again and flash the BTU stock rom
Step 5. Go back into ODIN and flash TWRP again, then make a backup of your efs again.
Step 6. Plug your device back into your PC and put your backed up efs from step 2 into the new backup and overwrite the files
Step 7. Restore the backup in TWRP and restart your phone
If your phone boots wait a little while and the carrier selection menu may show up. At this point you can leave your phone on that ROM and wait for Samsungs updates.
Common asked questions:
My phone fails at sboot.bin. You either havent flashed the PIT file or your phones bootloader has been updated to a newer bootloader. Try flashing just the modem.bin file from the tar file and seeing if that fixes your issue.
I've wiped my efs partition. In this event you need to go to a repair shop and have them write you a new efs. Once a efs is wiped your IMEI and serial number are irreversibly gone.
My phone fails at hidden.img. Try flashing again if its not working flash a new PIT file and try again.

Hope this helps you fix your device

Hi.
So, I accidentally did a factory reset from twrp (dammit, why isn't there a confirmation request?) and my latest backup is from june.
I tried to mount the data partition from twrp but I can't see anything from the pc.
What can I do to recover my latest data?
Thanks.
