I can't locate any information about the supported frequency bands of the Asus Padfone X, but I did find the Asus Padfone S.
TL;DR - Does anyone know the supported frequencies for Asus Padfone X?
...
Asus Padfone S:
3G WCDMA:
900/1900/2100
4G FDD-LTE:
700/800/900/1800/1900/2100/2600*

This list seems a bit incomplete - no 2G standard?
Since I am a T-Mobile customer, I need a phone that supports these:
2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/1900
3G WCDMA/UMTS/HSPA+:
850 (CLR), 1900 (PCS), 1700/2100 (AWS)
4G FDD LTE:
700 (Block A), 1900 (PCS), 1700/2100 (AWS)
Click to collapse
Since Asus Padfone S does not support 1700, if I purchase Padfone S then I will have to downgrade from AWS to PCS. The problem this has is that there are no PCS LTE towers in my area since it's a metro area that fully supports AWS. I am in a refarmed area that has HSPA+ on the 1900 band now, so I could at least get that, but if the Asus Padfone X supports 1700 then I'd rather buy one of those and unlock it.
I recently purchased an AT&T PadFone X which had been unlocked and am using it fine on T-Mobile. Stock ROM, unrooted; I had to add the APN and Mobile Hotspot does not work due to AT&T's ROM.
PadFone s does support 1700 {aws} in currently using 1 with T-Mobile and I get 4g LTE. I have both PadFone s and x ask me anything
Thanks for the info, good to know that Padfone S supports 1700 after all. Think I'll go for that one to avoid the AT&T bloatware then.
PadFone s is way better then the x bro . YouTube background playing works . You can move app to the sd card . No AT&T bloatware etc

Why did you have to add the APN info? Also, if it's something I should do, where can I find the APN info?
I just recently got one of the unlocked X's on eBay. I'm using it on T-Mobile and it seems just fine with LTE.

If I remember correctly, the stock ROM seemed to have a couple T-Mobile APNs built-in, but not one for fast.t-mobile.com, which I understand is the preferred APN to use.

I'm pretty sure the APN is pulled from the SIM. Otherwise, WHY would an AT&T ROM have T-Mobile APNs at all? And I am in a LTE area but do not use the fast APN, I just use the normal one that auto populates. Just have to add mms to it and fill in the mms proxy address to get mms working.
Just "upgraded" to the padfone S 64GB model with ATT.
Anyone get LTE to work for ATT? Only getting H+ after toying with the APN's.

I didn't have to do anything, when I did a search for APNs it found the fast.t-mobile.com APN automatically and filled it in with all necessary values for LTE to work.

Yes, it works with the Padfone X dock. There's also the Padfone X keyboard which is bluetooth and the Padfone S dock fits inside that really nicely. The only difference is that one has the AT&T logo - mechanically they're both the same.
How did you get 1700 to work on the padfone S? Mine doesn't work and edge is killing me.

Did you install a custom firmware? I haven't done any custom firmware since they don't support the tablet dock, but I've heard it's an issue for people that have installed something else like Cyanogen. 1700 is working for me on Padfone S, though I have the TW version that I've changed over to WW version. I wrote up a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/padfone-x/general/guide-asus-padfone-s-kk-l-fix-brick-t3197684 - maybe downgrading to KK and then redoing the upgrade to L will fix you up?

I did not add custom firmware because the only reason I bought the phone was for the tablet docking feature. I have a programmable engine computer in one of my project cars that I plan on using the tablet dock as a digital gauge cluster.
I will look into downgrading to kk and then switching from a TW to a WW. Hopefully that will do the trick. Thank you for explaining it to me, I sometimes get lost in the lingo as I do not really dabble much in software. I'm more of a mechanical guy.

Do you guys think the devs will be able to enable AWS HSPA bands on the ATT / Rogers / Bell / TELUS devices?
Many of us in Canada use Roam Mobility (T-Mo MVNO) when we roam in the USA. Having access to AWS + 1900 HSPA would be great so that we're camping on 2G less often.
It is in there, the problem is unlocking it. ATT may have required an efuse based lock that cannot be changed once set at the factory.

Interesting thing is htc has listed data speeds for canadian version via hsdpa is up to 42mb and it's the same for t-mobile USA, only At&t has different one. This could mean, that Canadian version might be similar to T-mobile version. But, this could just mean at&t's network doesn't support speeds of 42mb on hsdpa. I'm leaning toward network limitations.. But, I'm hoping I'm wrong haha

That's great, but Samsung's lock was superficial, incredibly easy to bypass. Maybe flashing TMOUS radios will do it, but there's no guarantees and it requires S-OFF.

We know, but the hack or mod will allow us to keep the latest radio's released modded for all frequencies.
Instead of cross flashing all the time.

Honestly I don't think this is something worth investigating until S-OFF is achieved. Then we have to figure out whether or not the lock on AWS WCDMA can be removed with software means.
The iPhone 5 had the same exact problem. For T-Mobile they released a phone with the same model number as the ATT version but with AWS WCDMA unlocked. Apple was unable to do anything for the ATT users because the lock went so low level that no software could change it, so they had to just change the software from the factory instead.
The same thing may be happening here.
Has anyone figured this out yet using the QPST method in the Qualcomm software like we do with Samsung?

Is there any update on this?
I can understand them locking the AT&T version down at hardware, but no the International version.
Anyone know if I can flash the International to open up 1700 AWS?
Does anyone know if the AT&T HTC One has the 2600 Mhz 4G/LTE band?
The International model does, but not sure if after converting the AT&T one changing the MID, CID and RUU will unlock the band.
I have been reading and searching online to find the definitive answer to this question. I am currently using a straight talk compatible sim in my verizon galaxy s4 and it works great - of course straight talk does not use LTE so I am limited to 3g speeds. I'm also trying to find out if it is possible to use a tmobile sim in the verizon galaxy s4 and get 3g speeds? How about LTE? The appropriate radios seem to be installed but I am not sure if that is enough. Has anyone done any testing on this front?
Thanks!
If you go into your hidden menus and dig around enough you will find options to enable the WCDMA and GSM radios. Back when I tanked my sim card I was digging through the menus for hours and at one point under network options I could see AT&T and T-Mobile signal even though I didn't have the SIM to actually connect.
I would imagine if I had the sim I could have connected no problem.
But because the menus are so deep and obnoxiously laid out, I don't have more specifics on where all to navigate to find the right options.

You didn't get any signal because nothing was turned on in your hidden menus to allow it.
And yes, loads of frequencies listed for LTE, WCDMA, and GSM.
You have to enable hidden menu. Then start digging. Like I said there are too many options/submenus for me to remember exactly where everything was.
If someone really wants to get their phone on another network it is possible. They just have to really want it and therefore really put in the time to dig.

Band 4 LTE is disabled by the software on Verizon Galaxy S4. It will have band 4 LTE enabled when Verizon activates Band 4. They will release the firmware update that will enable it. So far you can only get 3g on 1.9 Ghz, 850 Mhz and 900 Mhz and 2g egde with gsm simcard.

It's really not that hard. You just need to be able to add the APN for T-Mobile. The VZ phone is already unlocked. I also just flashed one of mine back to the MDK baseband (radio/modem) and it also supports T-Mobile LTE where I am. Coincidentally, it gets 2 bars + LTE in this particular location in LA whereas the T-Mobile GS4 with Tmob radio is getting 1 bar + LTE.

Sorry, I'm afraid that one's not going to (easily) happen. The phone may or may not have the hardware for it, but you'd need the right radio to enable the LTE band that AT&T uses. Right now, I don't know of one, and I don't feel like playing with the AT&T radios to see if they would happen to flash properly to enable things. T-Mobile & AT&T use relatively identical phones and can run LTE on each other's respective networks. So, I'd say, use one of their hardware sets on AT&T. I use AT&T LTE on a Nexus 5 and a T-Mobile GS4, but I can only get H+ on the VZ GS4 on AT&T. The VZ phone does do the T-Mobile LTE band just fine, though.

I was able to get LTE with AIO Wireless sim by toggling to LTE/GSM Auto(PRL). It seems to pickup Band 4 for ATT.
My 2 cents.
Does this still work?
I have a heightened interest in switching to T-Mobile now that they will pay for my early termination fee. I have a rooted VZW S4, added a new apn, and I am using an older sim card but i can't get it to connect to t-mobiles network. What all needs to be done to my phone in order for it to work. I did some research and saw that tmobile and verizon have the same LTE frequency and band.
EDIT (1/10/2014: I bought an activation kit at Walmart and activated the sim card. I am not connected.
I'm also using a Verizon Galaxy S4 with Straight Talk (ATT SIM). I have voice and text, but no data. I've changed the APN with no luck. I tried it in my Verizon Galaxy S3 and received E (Edge data) which was CRAZY slow. Any suggestions? I have a ATT Galaxy S4 Active being delivered today, so I guess it doesn't really matter, but very curious why I can't get any data on my Verizon S4 through Straight Talk.
If this helps anyone

I highly doubt any z ultra would work on CDMA networks.
Why don't you go for Galaxy mega 6.3 if you really want a big phone. It's a really good phone as well! Works on CDMA..
Ill just use the xperia z ultra on AT&T if i decide to get one. Right now im looking at 4 devices. Nexus 6,Note 4 international,Note 3 international, and the Sony Xperia Z ultra.
Has anyone found any new info on this at all.
Hey. Just got a Verizon LG G3 off my friend. I cracked the screen of my s4 and my girlfriend used my upgrade to get the iphone 6 so i couldn't upgrade myself. When i was using my galaxy s4 i had LTE speeds everywhere i go.
I googled the apn settings for At&t and put them into the G3 i have. It is working with HSPA+ But not LTE. I put my same sim card into my mom's at&t galaxy s5 and LTE pops back up. So LTE is clearly working in my area. But the g3 isn't picking it up, Am i doing something wrong?
Only supports ONE band that ATT uses. Which is band 4. Which is the backbone of ATT and Tmobiles LTE. So it should be able to connect to it. Do you live in a major city?

Tried that too. Still getting hspa+. Downloaded the speedtest app and speed never goes over 1mbps. I pop my sim in my moms phone and gets over 18mbps. I don't get it.,
Hey buddy, have you try to unlock other bands? I'm not sure about band 4 (since I was not looking for band 4) but there are some bands that can be use. You may want to Follow this threat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/unlocked-lte-bands-vs985-t2909150
It worked for me for band 3 and 7, I hope it work for you too

ATT uses band 4 and 17. Band 4 is the only one supported. From what I have read 3 is more for Europe.

Yeah I know, but I was trying to explain the reason about why I was not sure if band 4 was available to unlock.
I live in Costa Rica but I bought an Lg G3 Verizon phone from eBay that happens to work in here as well, the band 3 is the one my carrier uses, so I was only interested in unlock that one.
I took an screenshot of the available bands to unlock by following the link I posted.
P.S: sorry if it wasn't clear, English is not my native language ?
I have a Verizon LG G3 on Cricket Wireless (which is owned and operated by AT&T) and I get LTE on mine everywhere I go. The reason is because I have the 10b modem installed. ANY modem after 12b disables LTE on other networks except for Verizon. You need to totally restore your phone to stock (including 10b radio). There is a thread here on XDA somewhere that tells you step by step how to restore your G3 to stock and 10b radio.
Rooting and installing a custom recovery, then installing 10b modem will not work at this point. I tried that. It WOULD NOT let me use 10b radio until I completely returned to stock. Then of course I rooted and installed custom recovery.
I also have to use Cyanogenmod or another AOSP ROM because stock roms have the newer radios and disable my LTE.
Hope this helps!
hello..
I have the HTC DROID DNA by Verizon. Bought it from US but i live in GREECE now.
Is there a way to use 4G on my carrier here? (VODAFONE/COSMOTE/WIND. i have SIM from all the carriers). i only get HSDPA from GLOBAL network type. If i select LTE i dont get signal.
Im s-off and rooted. Rom:CM 12.1, lollipop 5.1.1
I dont mind if i should flash another ROM. i just want to use the 4G/LTE that DNA supports.
Unlocking more bands?
Hello guys.. as i mentioned above my problem is that i cant get 4G on my Droid DNA on a non-Verizon SIM card.
i found that the day supports the LTE band 13(700) - Verizon only for 4G. Is there a way to unlock mroe bands on this phone; (like FDD-->900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2600 MHz?
thanks in advance!

Development here is slowed now. But generally I think the band's have to do with hardware so unless your 4g band is specified in the phone specs then no way to add a band.
thanks!
