Sounds like you need a new usb port to me :crying: If you want to transfer files while you get it fixed you can use one of the many wifi enabled apps to transfer files from your phone to the pc. Also if you want to use Odin there is a mobile version here >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro << no pc needed (although root is required). Best way to test it is flash another rom if problem is still there then it is hardware problem.
I wanted to do this, but i don't have WIFI , and i couldn't flash even 1mb because of this disconnecting

Hi guys, was having a few problems with my phone and decided that I'd flash the stock ROM again.
Went into ODIN as you do, and as I was flashing the stock ROM, for some reason or another I heard the disconnect/reconnect noise that Windows makes when you remove a device then FAIL came up in ODIN.
Now my phone's stuck with a phone connecting to a computer on the charge screen, it can't go into recovery mode but it can go into download mode.
Tried connecting it to my PC in download mode, and even though I've got the Samsung USB Drivers installed I get the 'USB Device Not Recognized' message, which means I can't flash the stock ROM in ODIN anymore.
Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I have it installed, and I installed the USB drivers from the soft bricked sticky in this section. Neither have helped.
Hi!
Hi, you guys install ADB on your system? And also USB debugging mode on the phone?
Should be turned on which can be done by going to Settings>Applications>Development and select USB debugging.
Try this, for me its works

I can't even turn the phone on at the moment. Only thing I can do is go into Download mode.
Help
Try this, take out the battery, then press and hold the ON button for 7-10 seconds (the longer the better). Reinsert the battery, then press ON button to start it. This is a soft reset, and wipes the temporary memory and empties all remaining power in the circuits. This helps on many phones and even laptops that won't start properly or show anything on screen.
If this does not work, try the next step. Again, do as above. But after inserting the battery, do not turn the phone on, but press and hold the ON button and the HOME button at the same time for 7-10 seconds. This is a hard reset, and works best if done after a soft reset. Just be sure the battery has at least some juice in it and isn't empty. If possible, try with another battery if this does not work.
Hope this helps!
Try going to device manager, you will probably find your device as an unrecognized device, uninstall the drivers, unplug and then plug it again and see.
if the prblm is hard then do a fresh installation of kies, device etec etc.....but if u have ur device in the device list on pc then first uninstall it...if possible try recovery mode and reset...
I tried everything you guys have suggested and none of that worked. Anyone else got any ideas?
Try everything (and I mean everything) on the following list. Given the problems you've had & that you've already tried some of these things, I'd try another PC. And if it doesn't work first go on another PC, then go thru the list & try everything on the 2nd PC.
*Ensure Kies & it's processes aren't running in Windoze task manager. Kill them if they are.
*Try different USB ports; you must be using a 'powered' or mainboard port.
*Try different USB cables (particularly the cable that came with the phone if you're not using it now)
*Try different versions of Odin (search on here/Google)
*Uninstall Kies, reboot, redownload & reinstall it, reboot, try the flash again. Also run Windoze Update.
*And if all this fails, try a different PC.
Tried all the above and a different PC.
It didn't work. I could fix the phone if the computer would pick up that the phone's connected - it just doesn't.
Total Removal of KIES including registry entries .
Reboot PC install a new copy of Kies .
Phone backup data and factory reset .
Set phone to USB storage mode using the Samsung cable connect to PC and wait for Windows to find USB drivers .Remove cable reboot phone .
Start Kies connect with cable wait for Kies to find the phone .
Note USB Debugging OFF and cable connects to a direct motherboard port only .
Nothing then only further suggestion would be to Format the PC and start over with a clean Windows install .

I can't turn the phone on, it's stuck on the phone, triangle, PC screen.
I've tried fresh installs on three different PC's.

That's a forced download mode.
Try a blind flash to a stock firmware from Odin while connected to your computer with the phone on this screen. Even if Odin doesn't seem to register that it's connected. I've heard of at least one person this worked for.
At this point, you really have nothing to lose by trying this.
Bit of an update, I plugged it in again and it installed some drivers and ODIN picked it up. Only for it to disconnect a few moments later, now it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over but ODIN's not picking it up.

I know you said you tried a different cable, but that sounds suspiciously like a bad cable.
It's not the cable, thanks any way.
Update 2: I managed to get it to connect long enough to flash the stock Kernel. Still didn't reboot. Then I connected it again and flashed the stock ROM, which bricked it again. Then I flashed the stock kernel and it works!
However, there is a problem:
When the phone gets turned off, it constantly shows the charging battery icon with warning triangle and a thermostat next to it. I can't turn the phone on because of this unless I go into Recovery mode and reboot system.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I in no way recommend this, and not sure I would do it if I ever started having this issue...
BUT - I have heard that some people faced with this condition have fixed it by physically moving the small wafer board inside the USB port with a precision screwdriver (gently!) to a more "centered" position.
If that doesn't work, look at replacing that part. Either via warranty service if you still have it, or a service center.
I did a little searching around the forums and I've saw plenty other threads for diffferent phones having a similar problem, the only difference is that every other thread I've read, the rom has been verified, when I try to flash ANY rom on my device, I get the following from CWM:
Code:
[COLOR="Yellow"]-- Installing package...
Finding update package...
Verifying update package...[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Red"]E:failed to verify whole-file signatue
E:signature verification failed[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Yellow"]Installation aborted.[/COLOR]
I've tried several different roms, with the exact same problem. The one I really want is XWLP8 CodecROM 5.5 by DSA.
EDIT: On top of the original problem, I have came across another. My phone doesn't recognize a USB connection, it doesn't recognize a charger connection either unless I switch it off then connect the charger then switch it on again. If I turn the phone off (without the charger plugged in) the charging icon comes up in the middle of the screen and so does a flashing yellow warning triangle with a smaller battery indicator of some sort, things just keep getting worse.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
are you using ROM manager and using CWM flashed from it????
Flash CF-root hope will solve it...
just re-root and re install cwm then it's signature's should be verified by phone,
it happened to be on my first root/install cwm, i was so annoyed

Sorry for sounding like a complete novice (which I am), but can you please explain CF-root? It may be something I've already done.

better to take to sevice center

Hi,
First of all, I've been searching for this problem. And up to now, I haven't found a solution yet.
Odin won't recognize my phone in download mode. I am on Hydrog3nics ROM right now, but I want to go back to stock (I need to send my phone for repair, because of dust under my camera lens).
Things I've tried:
- Reinstalled my drivers with KIES
- Tried all the USB ports I got on my PC
- Opened ODIN with Administrator rights
- Restarted my PC, my phone, cleared all cache and **** on my phone.
- USB debugging off (and on)
- used different versions of ODIN
It doesn't recognize the phone when it's booted too, but it does recharge my phone .
It only recognizes my phone when it's turned off and I plug in the cable (the usb sound on my PC).
Kinda desperate of this problem right now, lol.
thanks
Do you have access to CWM to try to flash a different Kernel i.e. Siyah?
Go to boot loader in sg2 then go to odin in pc & connect the usb to phone

Have you tried clearing "Dalvik Chache" ? for me it worked. To clear Dalvik cache , Reboot into recovery mode Go to Adavanced -> from there select "Clear Dalvik Cache".
I am on CyanogenMod 10 by the way.
All the best
Did you try Mobile Odin? You just put the rom/kernel on the SD card. Select and flash away!! I use it all the time.
Hello everyone!
Sometimes when I connect my S3 to my computer, some files do not appear when I try to access them from the PC. Until today, rebooting the phone solved the issue but now I am having a hard time to get some data from the phone... Has anyone had the same problem?
Thank you!
Anyone?
I've seen some similar threads in the forum but none of them give me a good solution, still having the same problem...
Backup data possible faulty sd card or phone storage .
Check Lost Dir for files .

Thanks for the idea, but still nothing... It is unbelievable how a simple thing like this can become such a pain...
Sometimes I get the "Hardware ID could not be found" message and the only way I've found to reliably get the PC to recognise the S3 is to reboot the PC!
Changing USB ports, unplugging and replugging the phone or rebooting the phone doesn't work!
fortunately my PC boots almost as quick as the phone and I don't need to connect it that often.
Hello guys, I have a quiet severe issue with my beloved S9+. It first came up when I tried to move files from my PC to my phone. I just keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting in an interval of maybe 30 secs or something. Back then it wasn't that big of a problem, as I just downloaded the necessary files (ROMs in that case) on the phone itself. But as I am now trying to factory reset my phone it's a huge problem, because it just disconnects and reconnects while flashing in odin at about 10-30 secs*(depending on the dc interval). When rebooting afterwards an exclamation mark (flashing went wrong) comes up and tells me to use the Samsung PC software to reset it, but that won't recognize my device and I don't have any reset code or whatsoever. I tried using different computers, reinstalling drivers, rebooting - same problem.
I'd be very grateful for any tip or advice.

Okay so now I've flashed TWRP thru odin which was luckily possible as it didnt take that long. I'm back to RR Rom but I still have the dc/rc problem... Any other way to get back to stock?
If you plug the phone into the normal socket charger, does it also interrupt the charging?
If yes = problem at the Phone
If no = problem at any other source (maybe input current?)

Try to delete the drivers from your PC. The program and in the Device Manager at Windows. Now restart your PC and boot the phone to the OS. No matter what OS. Do not open Odin yet.
Lock the Phone and plug it into the PC and wait a few minutes. Unplug it from the PC, unlock the Phone and plug it again into the PC. Wait again a few minutes, that the PC can install all drivers. Ignore it, when it disconnects. Again unplug the phone. Then open Odin and plug the Phone again into the PC.
Maybe this should help. Note: Unplug the Phone only at the PC Port, not at the Phone Port
