Display clarity i think is better than xperia z1. For me,for now, i advice you to remain for now with root ,locked bootloader and stock roms(you can install dualrecovery) i think is perfect with performance and ram management.Kernel manage everithing smootly. With unlocked bootloader and CM you lost some things like drm (photo quality and other things are lost...i advice you a backup ) but you have some freedoom to install custom kernel, root, multirom, custom recovery if you want and you can install CM .Oh i heard with some custom roms like CM , the charging became very slow...but i can wrong i'm in locked bootloader, stock custom rom, root, and custom dual recovery and it is all perfect i haven't need aosp custom roms like my previous phones (like samsungs ) for better performances but the choice is yours the firmware there is now in z2 is very different where is in z1

I can comment over Z, haven't experienced Z1. Compared to Z, whose processor and GPU is not ready for 1080p screen this phone is smooth as liquid.
As the component part, the camera is unparalleled. Software-wise it could use some development as it is not showing it's real potential. Still it's one of the best if not the best.
About display clearity, a friend bought a G3 couple days ago and he couldn't let my phone go because he was comparing every single thing displayed on the screens and coming into the conclusion of Xperia Z2 being better at every picture, Web page, menus etc..
There is only one thing lagging behind the Z, I believe. Which is that the developers are more familiar with it's hardware since it's on the market for a longer time. Z2 is still kind of new-ish. So, there are a few things to iron out when it comes to AOSP ROMs, but everyday it gets better and better.
And the battery life is just good

Hi All ,
Thanks for your reviews .. so now its confirm that Xperia Z2 has better display ... and about ROM's i always prefer CM .. i cant stay on stock ROM more than 1 day LOL ....
and also I DO NOT CARE about battery life ... m using Z1 with CM12 and getting enuf battery life (3000mah battery compare to 3200mah in Z2)
need more reviews !!
Thanks again
It's display is miles better than the Z1 owing to it being an ips lcd panel. For me it's the best lcd panel ever produced but that's because I love warm displays

I would not recommend to you the z2. I bought mine almost 8 months ago.
I tried everything to make it more smoothier but I couldn't have the same performance as my old nexus 4. ( I tried many rooms like cm)
Until my conversations of the whatsapp has lag
Besides the display that is really good (much better than z1... I compared with a friend that has the z1), the z2 is terrible.
I'm going to buy another phone. That's my advice.
Don't, I have Z2. I like it a lot and it works flawlessly .. but i like HTC M8 or Moto X 2014 more
just because i HATE the Z2 shape, weight and edges. it's very hard to hold in hand
and i like stock or sense flavor more than sony ui
I love the phone, butter smooth UI, an awesome camera
I dropped the thing like a million times
Its scratched all over the back but not the front and i see absolutly no signs of damage
Dont be turned down by people with defective Units

Hi
I want to know a few things about Xperia Sola before buying one
The most important thing to me is games , can Sola handle games average and big ones??? . And what can you tell me about the Sola's camera??.
Since it has a duel core cpu is it good for multitasking , is it fast or slow .
If you had to choose between Sola and Arc S ,which one would you prefer?
And one last thing , for how long do you think Sony will keep supporting Xperia Sola?
Thanks in advance
no one has Xperia Sola?????

Sola is the same as Xperia P and I have used an Xperia P for a bit. It will run most games fine and they are updating the compatability for the chipset as well. It is pretty smooth and the dual core should be good for multitasking. Its only real weakness is the 512 of ram it has which is not the greatest. If the 2011 line of Xperias can run ICS then the sola should too. Sony is definitely going to continue supporting the NXT series of phones and has done a good job so far. Sola is much better than Arc S.
For me Sola looked ideal on paper, but little after getting the phone it was rather a let down compared to the alternative with which i tested out earlier (Samsung galaxy ace 2, which was 15% cheaper). The only thing this phone is better at if movie capture quality and if it's not really that important I'd recommend everyone to choose Ace 2.

Why is that, the Ace 2 is the same hardware with a arguable worse screen? It does have a little more RAM which is nice, but it is one ugly phone and Samsung Ui is trash.
Ok thanks now I am satisfied.
I am going to buy a Sola
Hey guys,
well im gonna buy a new phone with in 2 days my first smart phone and i've short listed xperia sola , htc one v and lumia 710 i'll get these models at below 13000/- and my budget is only that much. so my needs are
1)a good screen
2)i text a lot
3)its needs to get me through a day with 1/2 to 1 hour of browsing, music and gaming and ofcourse texting.
4)camera isnt super important but it should be a good shooter
5)it should be lag free most of the time
6)i'd like to play hd games like asphalt and other racing but most of the time i'll be playin games like temple run and agent dash , cut the rope etc
7)im not soo into rooting and flashing because my friend messed up his galaxy mini and i dont want that trouble but doesnt meant that i wont try it in the future
yup this is pretty much it
i included lumia 710 because it had many positive reviews and many satisfied users. does windows store have fun apps for windows phone 7.8??
i heard sola has a weak battery life and im not plannin to do the official ics update because i read it drains the battery faster but i liked the sola very much but the battery backup is the only thing keeping me away from it.
htc one v is a good hand set but i read the yellow dot problem , the over heating , lagginess and does it hav internal memory problems?
is htc one v able to run hd games like asphalt 6 hd adrenaline? and real racing 3 etc??
please suggest me a good buy and any other phone suggestions are welcome.
and thanks in advance. plz do help me

but when i searched about sola so many where complaining about sola's poor battery life and i didnt find anything similar for U
I have e HTC One V as my work phone and the battery performance is really nice in compare to my private Xperia P... the performance is pretty much the same. I dont like the HTC Sense stuff but this is the nice thing with Android - I can change it =)
I'm thinking of buying the Xperia U but I have a few questions.
How is the call sound quality, headphone quality and loudspeaker quality like?
How is the screen quality like and how are the graphics like on high end HD games?
Is the browsing very fast on this phone? Does zooming in and out on desktop websites lag a lot?
Has anyone's screen stopped working or has their been any hardware failures that have happened to a lot of xperia u's?
Finally, how long do you think it will be before the phone becomes out of date? I want to use it for maybe 3 years after purchase so I need to know if it is future proof.
Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to be entirely sure the phone is ideal for me. Thanks if you bothered to read this far and double thanks if you answered any of my questions.
In order.
Brilliant,
Brilliant but storage is an issue
Good
Nope
1 year at most.
Press thanks if it helps!

I would recommend you to increase the budget a bit and buy Xperia P instead Xperia U.
Cause 1GB RAM will give you better smoothness than XU's 512 MB RAM.
Also SONY is still keeping XP in their mind while releasing Official updates like JB. [XU have Unofficial JB Port]
No offense to the XU users. It's just what i think that while buying android handset, it's better to go for a better hardware spec. Off course if u plan to increase your budget.
Guy above is right, i still regret buying xperia sola, when i could pay 30 more euros and buy xperia p... It is MUCH better and worth the money... I also think that its developing community is more active than xperia u... No offense of course
Also, u should know that a device like mine it is said that because sony reached the target of sales for this device, now they dont give a damn about it.... We all rely on xda to get jelly bean while xperia P DOES HAVE official jelly bean from sony...
Finally, technology is evolving SO FAST that u need to buy an expensive device so that it can compete with future device... (my opinion)
Does the extra 512MB RAM make a big difference from xperia u to xperia p? The processor and GPU are the same but stuff like screen and camera is better on the xperia p
Trust me, xperia sola with 512 mb of ram barely gives 150mb available, logically xperia p should give u at LEAST 300 mb of free ram...
As far as i know, true gaming devices must have at least 1gb of ram...
Any other comments on the Xperia u? What do you use it for on a daily basis?
If u dont play heavy games then it will do the job BUT IF U:
1) Are sure that 4 gb of storage is not enough (like me). Remember xperia u cannot take sd card...
2) Want to play heavy games, i am pretty sure that xperia p will do better
If u meet either the first or second condition then i urge u to buy xperia p but if u dont then feel free to buy xperia p... My sola is the same as xperia u but i can use an sd card and i must say that since i am not a hard core gamer it does the job pretty damn well
Does the xperia p have a slightly yellow tinted screen? In some videos I have seen the the white looks slightly yellow. Can anyone with an xperia P confirm whether the white is pure white or tinted yellow? Also, after upgrading the firmware to jellybean on Xperia P, do you get various problems with apps such as gallery app not working and does the phone lag or does it get faster? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be sure before I purchase it

Actually there is no device exists which is completely error free. You just have to make it right by your self. The situation is quite same for Android Update also. Check the General Section, you will find a thread there named as - Xperia P JB Review.
Many users posted there JB experience there. That should be useful for you. And as for the Yellow Tint, Sony took care of that issue, after first few shipments of all of their models.
Hey guys ! I'm Running rooted and S-off HTC Incredible S. Its okay but outdated now. We are fully up to date in software, but the hardware is behind. Looking for a new phone is so difficult right now..
I have a budget of $300-$400 Aus. Samsung SIII is a little old now, N4 has no storage.. I wandering is Sony a good option? Would you recomend any Sony device in that price range?
Thanks

Call sound quality-good
Headphone quality-sounds good , the default headphones aren't good enough u'll surely need to buy a new 1
Loudspeaker-Totally disappointed by the loudspeaker
screen quality-Display is just awesome with 280ppi
Browsing used to lagg when I had too many apps installed..otherwise it works good
No hardware faults as such
Hahahaha there is nothing called as future-proof..U is already outdated, maybe you should go for P instead.
Hey guys,
I hope u can help me with some advice.. the thing is that i need to choose between this 2 devices and is harder than i thought..
The thing is that some stuff I like at S3 some I don't and the same story with the xperia Z
S3:
+ Lots of futures and does a lot of great stuff (motion and bla bla)
+ It seems better optimized like the Z is more powerfull and it scores better in benchmarks.. but i see that ppl are saying that the S3 is better optimized, is that true ? (or it is not that obvious?)
+Speaker is better than the XZ...I don't listen music.. but I wanna hear my phone when it rings..
__________________________________________________________________________________
- It is older than the XZ... Will samsung provide updates for the next 2 years ? at least ?
- PLASTIC )) And I have 2 friends that said that their screen broke out of nowhere...
+/- I like both screens, I don't care about the cameras
I just want a phone that will last longer and runs android in normal conditions and feels like a quad-core..
Gimme some opinions..Please

I would choose the s3 my friend. My reason? Having owned a xperia z for a short period of time, I found the battery to be horrific and having to use power save just to get through a day. S3 however, battery is excellent and can easily handle my daily usage. Thats my reason. Choose wisely

This is the i9300 Q&A Forum, not the i9305 or Xperia Z Q&A forum
I'd get the Xperia Z personally.
The S3 is like a current day Ford Mustang or Dodge Charger. It has great specs and the engine sounds bloody great but in the end, it can't put all the power on the road and can only go in straight lines.

Thx a lot guys. I will go for the Z.. cause I really don't wanna use touchwiz... and I like the screen of XZ.. thx a lot for the infos!
PS: I saw some news that the Z is already scheduled for 4.3 official update
As the title says should I do it? Xperia Z5 Premium is better than Z2 but the support on Xperia Z5 Pre forums is nearly dead. Abd Xperia Z5 Pre will not get android 8.0 imo becuase no one seems to talk about it on their forums. So should I stay with my Z2?
I don't recommend to do it.. Better buy XZP if u re interested in 4k screens.

I don't mind how my screen looks. If my screen is good enough then I am ok with it. I just wanted to get someone's opinion.
Go with S8/S9 or even the A8. I have lost faith in Sony's camera output, Amoled screen can also be a single reason to switch
No doubt... XZ premium.. True Sony...
Not sure about Z5 premium, but last week, after good few years with it, I upgraded from Z2 (currently Carbon Black ROM) to Z5 dual SIM (stock ROM so far). I like the look of it, how it handles, how fast and responsive it is. Fingerprint reader is an added bonus.
Brand new unlocked Z5 phone is aprox 290USD in my country. I would say you get quite a good spec for your moneys. Most of my friends have their Huawei and Lenovo crap, despite being few years old Z5 still shines here.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers
Buy a Oneplus 5t or wait for the 6. its cheaper and has flagship specs better than the lastest xz

If i were you i would keep my Z2 as i dont like sony stock firmware as it runs slow and lags for me, I dont know about the Z5 premium if it lags or not but developer support is a must in my case
The developers support is the problem, although xz premium has less developers than other devices
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
If you look at developers support..a phone developer support starts when the company ends support for the device... Looking at Z2, from 2014 to 2016 though there is developers working at various roms, infact for stability most of us preferred staying on stock rom and only few people who unlocked bootloader to experiment with latest android and new features ported from flagship devices... Since Z2 was one hell of a flagship it didn't need much working on..just a latest version rom satisfy but on the same hand stock rom also new and was pretty happy to have all stock features.
And Z2 wasn't laggy or slow and it's smooth as butter all days long. Towards end of 2016 when Sony said end of support, then starts people like us frequently visiting XDA for new roms with latest version, latest security patch. Also more developers starts getting involved to take Z2 to a new height to keep it updated and last long.
Likewise Z5 premium which is not laggy or slow has got nougat and end of Sony support is happening.. So from this year end onwards there will b developers getting involved more to bring new roms nd features to the Z5 premium.
One problem is we don't want to lose Z5 premium 4K features and other stock functions.. For that we need to stay on stock rom. There is custom alternatives for Z5 premium and few mods can enhance stock usability of that phone.
If u ask why z5 premium not that popular is bcos of its snapdragon 810 chipset which was a failure when launched bcos of overheating and battery issues... 810 easily heats up... Sony did made updates to control overheating by downgrading performance. Still losing a single 1% performance is not acceptable for people like us..
So now there's d answer solving all problem, getting that rich premium feel and big 4K with snapdragon 835. And that is XZ premium..
If u don't overuse the phone Z5 premium is ur best friend for life. Otherwise XZ premium if u can ask dad to buy it. Or exchange Z2 but I don't think there is much resale value for Z2 in 2018.
If Current Z2 has not much problem then use it for 1 more year... Snapdragon 801 is performing well above expectation comparing to newer phones on market.. Except latest android....
Still it's ur call...

I know how to XZ premium feels becuase he had bought it for himself asked me if I wanted to switch to his Z5P. So I read what you have written and I will keep my Z2 for now and watch the Z5P forum if it gets any atention by developers. Only thing I can complain about Z2 is it's cameras. Main camera used to be good but after many years some scratches appread on the camera lens so the quality of my pictures dropped a little bit but the main camera is still usable. Frontal camera was bad and still bad so nothing I can do about that. So the Z5P will stay as a backup phone for now and maybe I will switch to it as the time goes on.
