if I untick "show notifications" for an app that constantly sits in the notification.. the corresponding icon goes away from the notification bar and lockscreen (as it should)...
my question is: does the app still enjoy enhanced priority if I do this I'm on lollipop if that means anything..

There's a couple of icons in my notification bar that I don't want to be shown on the notification bar. I went to the App info settings and unchecked the "Show notification" but when I restart my phone it comes back, I go to the app settings again and the "Show Notifications" box is unchecked. So why does it keeps showing it?
Is there a way to enable system ui tuner on LG G5? I really need the "power notification control" for privacy option.
You want to stop the heads up notification from showing up?
On Nougat that's easy, no need for system ui tuner;
Once you receive a notification from the app you want to stop "peeking", swipe right (or left) and hold till you see a setting icon, click on it and select "Show notifications silently".
Now you won't see any heads up from it, nor notification sound/vibration, but it will still show up in your notification bar/panel.
** You can also go to Settings -> Notifications -> Apps to choose any app you want to change their notification behavior.
On the G5, System UI Tuner is disabled by default and I think you'll need root to unlock it.
I just installed the Android O beta 4 OTA update onto my Google Pixel. This Android version has a persistent tray notification for background running apps - in my case it's the Network Mini Monitor Pro app, which I *want* to have running in the background, and so I'd like to disable the background running notification for this app, but I haven't found any way to do it. Can it be done, so that I don't have this unwanted notification sitting in the tray all the time.
Would like to know that as well, for me it's WhatsApp.
Well I've found I can get rid of the system tray icon, though the notification is still there when you pull down. But I'm reasonably happy that the icon isn't there all the time. To get rid of it:
Pull down and long press on the "Apps running in the background" notification
Tap on "All Categories"
Scroll down to "Apps running in background" and tap to the left of the vertical bar
Tap on "Importance" and change it to "Low"
The system tray icon should now be gone.
I have a problem with my Huawei mate 10 pro, when the screen is looked I can only see the time, date and the background theme for sure. But I can't see any notifications and I can't even see the drop down menu "notification bar" which includes wifi, Bluetooth.. etc. When I swipe down it asks me to enter my password instead of getting drop down menu settings. It is really annoying. I tried everything in the settings, I changed everything to "display all notifications" in Settings -> apps & notifications -> notifications management -> each app to enable and in top right menu "display all notifications". I thought it is always like this for huawei phones but my friend has mate 10 and he can see the notifications bar and his all notifications while the screen is locked. So any help please how to solve this problem! I want to see the notifications and the drop down menu "notification bar"

It's driving me nuts that there is always this one notification that I cant disable.
I'm running Android 8.0.0 on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium (G8141) and I'm pretty sure that on previous android versions there was only a small icon at the very top right of the screen that indicated when do not disturb was on. Why is there this huge notification now?
And no, I cant disable the notification in the notification settings (Notifications of System UI) as its forced to stay on and I already set all categories to Importance Low. https://i.imgur.com/0kIHfU0.png "nicht sören" is "do not disturb"
With Root access, I'm willing to go to any length to get rid of this notification.
