Hey all. So I just recently rooted my M8 (got sick of some of the stock issues and the bloatware) and installed the new ARHD Rom with 5.0.1 Lollipop. Now for some reason I am getting little to no MMS support. I have tried Textra, Messages, Google Messenger... Either it's sparse (will get a few texts from one or two people in the group, will miss some texts entirely) or nothing at all. I went onto my AT&T messages site and sure enough, all the messages are sitting there. They're just not showing up in my phone AT ALL. This is super infuriating. Any thoughts or help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Some helpful specs:
Android Version: 5.0.1
HTC Sense Version: 6.0
Software: Android Rev. HD 34.0
HTC SDK API Level: Unknown
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default,fota,mms,supl,hipri
Bearer: Unspecified
My secondary (least pressing) issue is that since installing ARHD and getting rid of the AT&T bloat and shovelware, it also got rid of the Visual Voicemail integration. I have tried downloading the VVM app again from the Google Play store, but when I try to log in it tells me that my ID or Password is invalid. I have reset my password and tried using both my phone number and the voicemail number but to no avail. Anyone else having issues with this?

I have the solution to your problem here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2837365
US Dev/AT&T 442/443/444/501 Debloated VVM/ISIS Release 02-10-2015 arhd is based on international roms that is the problem and they don't offer the correct at&t support.
Thanks for the fast reply. I see that it fixes the VVM issue but will it alleviate the MMS problem as well?
What your looking for will not be found in the ROM your currently using, it is based on the euro ROM so there is no at&t support for it, there is an at&t ready ROM with the feature you want in the at&t dev forum, I'd suggest using it because you will get no support or the feature won't even work correctly on the other roms

Thanks a bunch. I've been futzing with the SU trying to update the binary in order to use SunShine to get my phone S-OFF but it's totally not working. I may just go back to 4.4.4 until there's a more suitable AR version that supports AT&T. Didn't realize it was such a hassle just to get a cleaned up version of Lollipop.

I'm having issues downgrading back to ARHD 22.2 (4.4.4). Do you know of any ROMs that will accomplish the above listed tasks without needing S-OFF? I'm having a ***** of a time with these issues... Thanks in advance.
Couple suggestions, theres the 4.4.4 att build in the thread you were referred too. Flash the 3.42.502.1 ruu, with out soff youll not be able to get lollipop running...Sunshine works best with a stock rom...the 4.4.4 build in thread mentioned here has latest superuser available...it may work with Sunshine a bit better....None of the euro builds will support new features ATT is implementing.

I just switched over to ViperOne on the 4.4.4 build but I'm still getting sporadic missed messages from MMS. I honestly have no idea what to do at this point other than shell out the 25$ SunShine license fee and S-OFF this ***** to flash the RUU and go back to stock. I've been rooting these HTCs since the M7 dropped and I've never had such ridiculous issues. It's pretty infuriating. Open to suggestions but may pull the license trigger in the coming week.
EDIT: I tried your suggestion of flashing the the RUU you mentioned above but I keep getting this error in my console: FAILED (remote: 02 data length is too large) Any idea what that could be?
Viper is still euro based...did you flash the either of the 4.4.4 builds in my thread. I meant the ruu not the flashable modified zip.http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html

I just figured it out. For some reason it wasn't letting me flash through fastboot. I took the chance to flash the RUU zip you mentioned through TWRP and it worked finally. I used ATT_ISIS_3_42_502_1_M8 on that page, is that the one you meant?
Running stock now from what I can tell. APN settings are a little different than what I remember (ATT nextgenphone?) but we'll see if the MMS ends up working today. Just gotta wait and see...
You can always send yourself (i.e. your own mobile number) a MMS and see if it goes through.:fingers-crossed:

That's a good call! Never thought of that. It went through but I'm just waiting to see if I have that sporadic problem of losing half the messages in a massive group text conversation. Me and my buddies usually keep a thread going all the time and it's been acting uncharacteristically unreliable since I rooted. :-X
The ROM you mentioned from my thread is not a stock rom,is custom...So you wouldnt be able to flash via fastboot and would be able to via twrp...apns are different to support VoLTE.

Yeah you're talking semantics at this point. I said ever since I rooted, which is true. I know it's not the rooting process but rather the roms I used. Either way problems arose, problems have been vanquished. Thanks for your help.

I'm not positive on this, so don't take this as the definitive answer, but from all the reading I've done, flashing a rom from one carrier onto an android device of another carrier is a really good way to brick the phone. I'm not saying it CAN'T be done, as maybe someone out there has found a way, but at the very least, I'd imagine you'd run into all kinds of issues (freezing, apps not loading, crashing, etc.) if you were even able to do it without bricking...

This was from the thread I linked above:
he said not to flash other carriers software in odin...he didn't say you couldn't flash another carriers rom via zip file in recovery. Long as you don't flash the att bootloader or radio you should be fine! Roms flashed via a custom recovery only replace the system/kernel.
----- Previous post was at 08:53 PM ----------
Well, I just flashed the JellyBeer v3.35 for the ATT note2 and it booted up just fine. was a bit surprised to find no data. wifi works just fine. was gonna play around with the apn info, but wasn't sure if it would make a difference.
thoughts?
BTW, GPS seems to be working fine. 12/17 sats with an error of 13ft. Took about 60 secs the first time it tried locking up. After that, instant!
------- Post added at 08:54 PM -----
you will have to edit apns, there is a thread for that in dev section.
While it's not something I would suggest the average user to attempt... it sounds like they are onto a solid method...but of course it would be at your own risk. Most would probably be better off waiting for the ROMs to be ported over though.

I'm running this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419155 rom using T-Mobile. I thought this ROM had the fixes baked in. I am willing to switch Roms too if I can get everything to work. Idk if data even works at all since I don't have a data plan.

To be honest this rom had way to many bugs to count on both hands...i was on it maybe 2 hours and just couldnt stand it...as for your data have you messed with the apn's. ALL roms require you to set it up and isnt at all hard to do....i can help you do it....as for t-mobile and all t-mobile based cards you will ONLY get Edge (2g) on the rez

CarbonROM, LiquidSmooth, and Tachyon are some great ROM choices, although for GSM service a sense based ROM may be the best bet.
Amon Ra is no longer the recommended recovery for any ICS/JB based ROM, you should use TWRP or CWM Recovery.

You are on much older apn's if you are in fact on T-Mobile and not a t-mobile based carrier....pm me and ill get you on the proper apn's...just remember you will only get edge speeds though.....3g or 4g on t-mobile is close to impossible for the rezound.....and acejavelin is right....get rid of amon ra as it will cause you many bugs in jb roms
Edit: i also noticed for apn type you only have mms written...not how it works on the rez

Yup, ATT M8..... the nightly from today from here http://www.cmxlog.com/12/m8/ .... could it be because of the new radio that came with the 4.4.4 ota?

Are you saving them? You will need to save before you exit.
You will also want to reset after saving. This isn't a must, but sometimes required to take effect.

That is going to be a tough one to answer. Most folks haven't even gotten the OTA yet. Maybe once more folks have gotten the OTA, we'll know whether they have the same problem or not.

I can't seem to find a fix for this... Any update(s)?
Hey all I am having the same problem. I updated to 4.4.4 this morning on my AT&T m8. I installed cm12 through TWRP with the right gapps. I didn't see any information about a kernel that needed installed with it. Everything worked fine except I had no cellular connection. I checked the APN list and there was no APN listed, only the message "Access point name settings are not available for this user". I tried making a new APN with At&t settings but when I hit save the APN was not in the settings list. I was again greeted with the message "Access point name settings are not available for this user". I followed some threads for general APN issues and toggles airplane mode, tried other nightlies, made sure the sim card was correctly inserted to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I read a few things about changing the conf-apn.xml file in the android code but I have no idea how to go about that or if that is even the right solution.
Thanks everyone!
Well, I'm not sure at this point, where to send either one of you. bford152, redpoint73 and I have given you multiple suggestions, none of which have been helpful.
It may be best for both of you to see if the Dev for this version of CM12 has a G+ chat, or the like, in which the users of this ROM can communicate. It is unfortunate they have not posted their ROM here on XDA, as that would help understand the issue.
I would assume (now that there are 2 of you with the same issue) that there may be underlying problems with the build.

SuperSU?
Hello, thanks for all your hard work. Does the ROM come with root access? Thanks in advance for the reply.

I have also been having issues with text messaging. will probably try and downgrade and wipe factory reset in safestrap and see if that resolves my issues. May also try fresh install again.
I can receive text but not send them
I installed this ROM earlier today. So far I love this ROM. However, I can't send text. I have received them but just can't send them. Any help would be appreciated.
Texting doesn't work for me either
Just flashed this ROM tonight, very slick I like it a lot but I have similar problems with no texting. It appears that my verizon APN is incorrect and when I try to edit it manually it doesn't fix the problem either. Not sure why the option to add another one is grayed out though so I can't make a new APN or edit the APN via the GUI. Had to use ES file explorer to try and edit /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
Anyone else having issues getting into Safestrap? Been having no problems with the ROM other than the inability to send texts, but I just noticed today I can't seem to get into Safestrap. Whenever I restart my phone, the Safestrap screen pops up 4 times, and even if I hit reboot into Safestrap all four times, the phone just boots up normally.

Yeah I had the same problem so I went back to kitkat for now.
Great rom! Wiped data and no issues to report.
I am curious how to remove the little data usuage in the top left corner though, I've checked everywhere I can think of and cant find the app via titanium to remove.
Thanks!
just making sure
I read that this is compatible with all s4 versions..that being said it should be safe for a tmobile s4 that's currently running an i9505 rom Right? Also if that's the case do I really need safestrap and/or downgrade and upgrade modem?
SS loaded, broken lock says custom and won't boot
I followed instructions it never booted, and the adb isn't working so i can't flash update, here's my question also about the sms and mms , is there a version of lolipop that fully works ? ok got my adb re-installed and phone finally took update and rebooted and I am now using the phone but still no sms send

Yes, I actually know of someone running this on a T-Mobile S4. He said he's not had any problems at all. Wi-Fi, data, tether, bt, and sms/mms all working. Take that back...He was having an issue with Safestrap bootlooping 3-4 times before successfully booting the system. But he just uninstalled Safestrap and resolved the issue.
SMSC
Does anyone know how to check the SMSC on lollipop?

hoodrocka your able to flash custom kernels. just install the ROM via your im guessing TWRP recovery and flash your kernel. I used this ROM on TMobile APNs with MetroPCs worked fine. Some verizon ppl are reporting issues with mms and different things. not having your device I havent been able to test this extensively but with my other ROM Ports Flashing to AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint etc was possible. you might have to flash kernel, modules, apns or modem to get it fully working. but yes fairly confident itll work for any S4 however when I tried to inform the public about the possibility of a unified US S4 division and post my ports to multiple dev sections I had my threads closed and files pulled for not including a kernel in the ROM package.... lol I tried to tell them that we were beyond all that forced kernel crap but they persecuted all the same

Thanks MetaMav
The fix for SMS/MMS found by metamav worked for me. I put the files in /system/lib and I am now able to text and send pics with tetra sms. Thanks metamav for finding the fix and gigilie for making an awesome rom!!!!
Side note when I started my phone google maps would crash, I had to update maps for the problem to go away.

Working SMS and MMS!
I did some research on other S4 forums, and came across the Sprint S4 development section. They were having the exact same issue with their lollipop ROM's. Their solution, ironically, was to extract a few of the lib files from the released Verizon S4 ROM from @muniz_ri to fix their SMS and MMS problem. However, this has not been implemented into any of their 5.0 TW ROM's as of yet. It is currently a fix posted by @troyboytn. It only involves pushing some files via a root file explorer and changing a couple file permissions.
Here is the link to the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=281
(And a big thanks to @thastaniard who assisted with the fix)
It also seems we both have the same issue with the default Samsung messenger app when implementing this fix. You cannot send MMS from it. However, you can use either Hangouts or Textra to send SMS and MMS just fine. I have not tested receiving MMS, but I wanted to get this out for other people to try.
@gigilie I imagine this fix could be implemented in your next release (if you haven't already found this solution). It could also be converted into a flashable zip, I just don't have the time right now to make one. There may also be a solution for the default messenger app and sending MMS.
On a side note, does anyone know how to enable "None" as the screen lock? The options for "Swype" and "None" are grayed out in the settings. I have changed security settings and tried different kernels, but nothing works.
How do I properly install
I'm rooted on OC1, but how exactly do I install this rom? I don't have safestrap as I'm aware it is not compatible on LP. And I saw I have to flash the downgrade tar. Is that through odin? And after that what's next?

Well, I am confused at that part Also.
I would just downgrade to nc5, flash the ROM in safestrap, boot into Download and do the upgrade, and boot. If you want xPosed, you will have to find Muniz_ri's method of a temporary safestrap to flash the fix by arter97
