A friend of mine sells a LG G2 with broken dispaly.
The price is very low - around 100€ or less..

The display is pretty expensive to replace, but you can replace it yourself if you have some experience. You need both display and digitizer since they're glued to eachother.

I don't know but if he dropped the phone then may god know what happend more before that. Try to search maybe if there are other LG G2's which are in normal state because Digitizer+LCD costs around the 60-80 euro Legit when I looked last time together ofcourse, because like vpro said they are glued together and you probably want to buy it together because seperating is soo much work and you can easily break it :l but I think that you are experienced already with repairing displays.

thanks guys
The device is fells to the ground..
what do you think about this item??
ebay link
Are all display as good as the original or there are worst display??
What do you thin about price?? 100 or 80€ is good?
thanks!

Well, I found mine online and bought from a dude for 200 Euro. New condition barely used and with 1 year and 8 month warranty left so almost like buying in a store just cheaper.
My advice: Why not put like 20 Euro extra and be on the safe side instead? It will cost you at least 150 including new screen etc. and your not guaranteed perfect quality with new screen anway. I say its not worth buying a damaged G2 cause a decent G2 ready to go isnt expensive.
Sent from my LG-D802

I'm reading this, Permanent Screen Damage Thread in XDA.. so that's problem can't be caused by a fall I see..
so, there's a mode to "unbrick" the display.. but not alway works..
with 16GB the space available is only 10GB??
also with custom ROM??

Yes honestly it's quite the same with custom rom, 10GB free...
What can change is the space taken by stock apps, which is quite some as far as I remember.
If you want my advice, this device is worth looking into, but 100€ + 100€ for reparation does not seems that worth...

I have to agree, for 200 Euros you could buy a G2 that works without having to do your own DIY. In the UK, I got my G2 brand new in the Black Friday Sale for £150. :victory:
This phone is defenatly worth getting though!

If I find a G2 brand new for 150€ is very cool!
but now I see 260€ as the lowest price.. too much for me!
This friend can give me that G2 for 70€ with 1 year and 2 month warranty left.. can I have new display with the warranty??
that new display with frame and touch is only 60€ totally = 130 for a working G2.. I hope!

No you can't since warranty doesn't cover user damage.
I recommend you search for a OEM replacement screen. They're usually quite expensive.

Oh come on. Do you really think LG is that stupid?
Either way the damage has been caused from the user - the permanent lines which you can read about in that thread is caused by heat in 90% of the cases. The heat is often generated by using custom recoveries without thermal control, although it happened on autoprimes stock LG g2.
If you get permanent screen damage like in the thread, the touchscreen will function perfectly - it won't if you drop the phone.
Do whatever you want. I did the best I could to help.

yes, sure!
but the touchscreen work well on my friend's phone!
the frame is not damaged, like you can see on the pic!
For this thing I ask if Warranty can be useful!

If you have official warrenty then take it to any authorized service center and ask them if they cover this or not. No need to tellnthem them that you dropped it.

strange, it has happened to some friends.
The problem is on the display , only change for a new you will have great results.

Don't try putting things together, get lcd screen digitizer and frame already put together, seems simple enough to put together, but don't make the mistake, and cost from eBay is pretty much same.

[Q] Archos 101 Broken screen

Hi Guys,
I have a 101 16GB with a broken screen. Archos no longer repair this as it is out of warranty.
Can someone help, is there any reason why I couldn't replace the screen and digitizer myself?
Does any know where to purchase screens for the 101? I have checked ebay and there is one but that doesn't come with a Digitizer.
or can some suggest where could replace it for me?
Thanks

Yeah, apparently Archos don't cover hardware issues unless it's an issue with defective hardware.
I broke my screen too. I had a good look around for new screen and digitizer but couldn't find any. In fact, I reckon the one that you found on ebay was made for the (very similar) 10.2" laptop. I haven't checked in a while so I could be wrong, but that was all that I could find.
I assume when you say Archos won't repair it, you mean they won't repair it for free?
I ended up having to send mine back to Archos for repair and it cost €123 altogether. It also took close to 2 months to get back to me. Just got it back there on the 30th of December.
No Archos won't repair it full stop. The start of the week it broke they had stopped repairing out of warranty and because this is not warranty they will not repair. I told them I was willing to pay. Made no difference.
Wow, really? Sorry to hear that. It does beg the question though... How many devices had broken screens repaired before they pulled the plug?
Unfortunately, I think it's a bit too early for a 3rd party to fix the device, it just hasn't been out long enough for the parts to be manufactured yet. But it's surely only a matter of time.
Note: I was actually sent back a new device. Different serial number. Maybe they just don't have the stock to send out replacement devices. We all know the difficulty they are having keeping up with demand (which in itself is a bit ridiculous but that's another story).
I'm in Ireland by the way.
I'm in Ireland also, what was wrong with yours? if it was a cracked screen when did you send it back?
Yep, cracked screen. I put the charger in with the device in my bag and it must have gotten a pretty bad bang but when I took it out the screen was cracked.
I got my device at the start of November. The 5th I think. It broke on the 10th (5!! days after I had it

I contacted, 130 pounds + 14 pound shipping = $233 canadian. I can buy a brand new 101 for 260 right from Archos..... can you say " giving it to us up the hoop"........Pass!!
My wife just dropped hers and the digitizer is shattered - the screen works fine, still boots and displays everything. Touch input is non-responsive, however.
Looking around I'm finding out that it's a wash. Can't even buy aftermarket parts to fix it myself. What a ****ing shame.

So I just have to plug it a mouse and keyboard into the usb slot and the digitizer will un-crack itself or is there, like, a dance that goes along with this?

No, but then at least you can use it atm.

Did the same thing to my phone
The only difference is that it's the top corner only with a few cracks going down and across the screen.
Haven't found any glass replacement. Sadly with all the looking I've done, the only solution seems to be replacement of the entire front display. Most prices I've seen on eBay and the like were $250+, but I think Samsung will do a warranty repair for $200, not sure as I've not called them myself.
I am going to fix a friend's note and I found out you cannot just pull off the gorilla (panty) glass. You have to replace the LCD and digitzer as a complete unit. There are YouTube videos showing the steps.

The glass is $10 at many sites. It is held in place with glue that can only be loosened with infrared. Good luck.

You are probably looking at $265 for the digitizer/glass combo. It's a simple repair, but the glass isn't cheap. I'd almost venture to say your best bet is to start hunting around Craigslist and sell your old one for parts. I'm sure someone somewhere has water damaged their phone and needs a new main board.

Sorry to hear about the damage bro but....Dude, no case? Anybody carrying their note around naked is asking for trouble. Cases are cheap, compared to the repair/replacement costs of the Note's s screen.
I have repaired many, many iphones from broken glass to all out dead. Done some Android work as well. One thing I notice is that the replacement screens on most phones either look cheap, feel cheap, are prone to horrible finger printing, digitizers work but only so so, etc.
I busted my hump and found a Defender for mine locally for 30 bux! Repair cost is way too high and I guarantee that the only repair that will feel and work like a Note should, will be factory refurb.
There is no sense in carrying a caseless Note. Trust me, if you break it and have repaired, it will never be the same, unless you can prove the parts that you use are OEM. Another thing to watch is that some of the OEM parts you may find actually turn out to be parts that Samsung themselves rejected for reasons unknown. You will find those reasons out once you put them to use.
Make sure that your source is trusted, or sell your phone on ebay for parts, add a couple hundo's and get fresh unit. Save yourself teh wasted cash, effort and overall PIA!!!! It won't be worth it.
Guess I'm going to put my note back in its case.

[Solved] Screen replacement for Incredible 4G!

I just replaced my wife's screen tonight with minimal trouble. Here is the stuff you'll need.
This is a video tutorial (Not mine, but very good):
HTC Incredible 4G LTE Screen Replacement How To
You'll need all of the tools he shows in the video. I bought a kit at Radio Shack for $20 (spugger, tweezers, and various other tools) and a T5 screw driver kit at Home depot for $5 (Nice to have when I break another one)
I ordered my parts here:
Parts
There are several websites that gave me a lot of hassle, but this one was great. It ships from Hong Kong so give it a few days. There are 4 different choices from this website and some things to note:
**Most important: The digitizer cannot be separated from the LCD during replacement. You'll need to buy them already together. DO NOT buy them separately!**
(I splinted the whole thing to pieces removing it and trashed the LCD.)
1. B stock = blem models or slight defects. (I installed this and didn't notice anything wrong)
2. You'll notice with and w/o light shield. It's much easier to do this with the light shield already installed, but I did it without and the video is very detailed so I won't elaborate.
I know it's a different phone, but the concept is similar and might give you a general idea.

Tools Required:
Safe Open Pry Tool
Small Phillips Screwdriver

Can I get these tools anywhere? (ie. Lowes, Home Depot) Are they pretty much standard for all phones. I guess what I'm asking is could I replace my buddies iPhone screen with the same tools?

Yes, those are pretty standard tools. You won't be able to get the pry tool from Lowes but the others you can. The pry tool will need to come from a computer/electronics store or online. Radio Shack might have it.
It might be easier for you to send it back to HTC for repair (their authorized repair facility) as they are more likely to have the correct parts. The parts will be harder to come by since it is such a new phone.

No clue about the cost. I would contact HTC and they should be able to let you know about both of those questions. I'm willing to bet that it would be at least a week of downtime.
My wife just dropped her Thunderbolt so I'm looking in to the same options myself.

I contacted HTC and you have to ship the device out to a company called Personal Communication Devices to have the screen repaired which takes about 2 weeks... Meanwhile you are w/o a phone. I called Verizon and they told me they wanted to sell me a certified preowned device. I've been down this road before... (See my signature of MT4G)
I asked Verizon if I could just have the screen fixed. She said I would be able to have a third party do it, but it would void my warranty. Isn't that the point of sending it to HTC? If they are already fixing it through a third party company doesn't that void my warranty as well?
I looked into buying a screen and doing it myself. **See OP EDIT** The screen I found isn't the right one.

Okay. So I'm really sorry I haven't been back to this thread in a while. I finished my last final this semester and I'm ready to start messing with stuff again. I'm going to do the screen replacement myself and post the steps as soon as I figure out a couple of questions:

2. This is a great link below, but I'm wondering what the difference is between buying a screen with a light guide vs. without?

Well that's easy. One comes with the light guide, one does not.
After chatting with them online and them giving me 4 different links to entirely different phones than the Incredible 4G LTE I'll never buy anything on this site. They also sell the digitizer separate from the LCD which is impossible to install. You've been warned...

First off thank you 2noob4U for the link I got all the parts i needed and they are perfect.
So I was separating the lcd and the digitizer on the droid incredible 4g lte and ran into a snag. When I was cleaning the middle plate I noticed that the 3 rubber pieces that fit around the light guides were missing...I must have drooped them while removing the remaining broken glass and adhesive. Are these rubber pieces critical to the function of the back and home buttons? If so does anyone know where to find replacements?

scary with no explanation yet as there's not a single scratch on the device. quality is BS

As someone from the same city, I find this scary.
Did the Sony people accept his claim under warranty? Or did they just insinuate that he dropped it and refused?
this is ****ing scary.... is it overheat causing this??

he used to shot lots of 4k video.. it could be the gap issue makes the glass unbalance with heat exchange, but haven't notice any gap at the time. it didn't take even three days of use!!
as there is no clarification from Sony.. the defective will count as user fault
another self crack.. and now in the front
So no one else has a crack and you have two....sure you aren't being too rough on the device?
i just sent my z2 to retail for warranty. The front screen maybe unglue near the speaker, i tried to clean them but nothing happen, i'm sure that the front green unglue and the back camera has some dust. i'm very sad, just use z2 for 2 weeks

This is sad really...
Why is it the people doing the complaining have just one post to their name. This started like 3 weeks back. Only one post. You'd think they'd be a bit more worked up right. You read the craziest things on the sony forum.
Have noticed a similar trend on product review sites, for 5 star as well as one star reviews. Just one post and post date is the same as join date and these people are never to be heard from again.
Why does glass break ? either stress or a temperature differential.
Don't cool an overheated phone under the tap. It might 'self crack'.
The most possible reason is overheat.
The water proof phones like z, z1 come with strong adhesive, which expands and then break the glass.
You have to send it for repair or DIY repair.
An original glass can keep the phone waterproof. So you should be careful when select the replacement part for repair.
You can get origianl Sony Xperia phones replacement parts at wirigs.com.
Photoshopped. I can tell by the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
Don't think I've known a set of owners to be so protective over the opinion of their device.
Do you think that there is a conspiracy going on?
Is a fact that most people only turn to the Internet when they have an issue with their phone, so only having one post would be normal.
Mine has a cracked back too.... And I'm not a new poster

could you upload some pic please..
it's definitely an overheat problem so please guys stop covering up for Sony, if this doesn't happen to you now it could be affected by it later
my advice do not shoot lots of 4K video as it happen to be the most process that rise the temp. very high, till Sony resolve the issue stay away of any hot environment
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/05/3...peria-z1-cracking-screen-issue-sony-responds/
However, Sony released the following statement to Watchdog, highlighting for the first time that there is an issue:
“In a small proportion of cases, screens have indeed cracked with no identifiable cause and in these instances the phone has been repaired for free.”
sight.. Finally, and there are still people who says that's a Photoshop or an impossible to happen without any force
anyone from UK guys.. can you confirm the statement from Sony?
The statement was made on watchdog, now that they have made the statement on such an open outlet, I imagine any returns on cracked screen with zero frame damage will get a repair under warranty. Whether cover is for a single crack or multiple fractures remains to be seen

Took my Z2 back to CPW today after it got a small crack near the camera after i have been using satnav for an hour. Service centre said sony know about the issue and if you cant feel the crack then it will be heat related. I noticed when i took my phone of the dash the gap between the glass and bezel had grown. I think when it strunk down something might of got stuck in the gap and caused the crack.

Mine went back to ee's service centre... They say it's accidental damage. Had to pay £40 to be repaired.
Selling it so had to have it done officially rather than doing it myself.

Just got my phone back today rear glass replaced free of charge.

12hrs after I received my G3!!!

My biggest fear of the G3's thin screen glass happened 12hrs after I received the phone. I didn't hardly even get to use the damn thing. Now I'm just sending it to LG for repair. Yes I could purchase the digitizer and do the repair myself but I honestly don't have the time.

By the looks of the damage...does the little frame dent change everything when it comes to LG just replacing the screen itself? Or do you think they will charge for a refurbished?
huh, I would just be more careful.

Just bad luck on my part. All that damage from a fall from about 2ft. I was talking on the phone with the wife and went to tie my shoe and the rest was history.

They are going to send you what they have in Stock, I damaged my G3 in the rain, the week that it came out.
I paid the $150 deductible, and they sent me a brand new G3 in the box, through Asurion.
Could be refurbished, or it could be new, depending on what they have in stock at the moment.
I would recommend a TPU case, and tempered glass.
You can get both on ebay 2-3 day shipping for less than $20.

I'm actually sending it to the LG repair center in Fort Worth, TX. Same price you paid but direct for LG.
I had intended to get the case and tempered glass this friday when I got paid. Dumb luck just couldn't wait till then. lol

Yup, done that before. I somehow have cat like reflexes when I feel my phone is compromising gravity.

Lol. I tried and all but dove on the damn ground to grab it but yeah...didn't work out.
These phones are slicker than the g2..
I got a cheap bump case as soon as I felt the back of this phone
Almost as though grip is the last thing these manufacturers want you to have. Think about it. We have octocore now. And still we have metal frame and plastic backs or soft grip backs with slippery ass metal frame. Makes no logical sense other than looks and money in damges are a sure business ...lol. Remember that time when most phones had that rubberized metal? Hmmmm. Lol

I was more pissed that I didn't listen to myself and get a damn case and glass screen protector. Just wish the damn glass wouldn't of shattered. I could of lived with a little dent in the frame but the whole thing going out just poured salt into the wound.
Yup, did the same. Fell 2 feet, exploded. My replacement is in an Otterbox
lol, i was afraid of this happening when the wife had hers hit the ground. she had it stuffed under her leg in the seat and when she got out, lol, yeah it went flying. luckily it just put a small ding in the frame. she was REAL lucky.
I wish that was all I got....ending up with both really hurt.
Consumers vote with their wallets for thin phone with thinner bezels. Unfortunately, that translates to more fragile phones, too.

yeah, she was extremely lucky..no money to replace/ fix it. but we have cases and the hard glass protectors in route and should see them by Christmas, as well as my replacement phone. (radio went dead, sprint tech said its a common thing. who knows, just glad my is being replaced.)

Common? I doubt it. I don't think I've read another post here, or on the other big Android forums, about the radios dying. I'm sure it happens, but I don't think it's common.

Sure, most cell phone owners aren't on these forums. But many people do join when they have a problem. I actually think we see more problems on the forums than the population in general.

lol, not the majority of the population i know. that what they use the carrier stores for. very few if any know about rooting...if they can do it from the play store..for the ones that understand it, thats as far as they go.
i started here a few years ago when i got my moto photon, i wanted it more me, but all i did was root, change themes, once changed boot logo and i think once changed the rom. as for my galaxy 10.1, its running a 4.4.4 ROM from nameless. the lg g3 is the first real smartphone for me, but my 2nd LG..lol, first one was in 03 and not even close to a smart phone and im here to learn more about it and to make it more me. this phone is actually worth it.
