Does the Update Center work for you? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I'm on the lastest Existenz ROM, bootloader unlocked, my question is if I'm the only one that doesn't get updates in the update center app (like Walkman etc.)?

it stops working once you modify your device and only will continue to work untill you flash a stock firmware (and keep it unmodded)

Oh okay I didn't knew this, does the update center work with a stock rom only with root?

No, you just need to relock the bootloader to get it to work.

Yup, sure. Just after I relock the bootloader the Update Center get's to work. I have a totally modified firmware: modified system partition, custom DPI, Xposed and a lot of modified drivers etc.
I suggest that you try a different FTF, for example the Customized DE.

It's over the air, don't accept it! Otherwise your device will brick!!!!!
You can only flash the .ftf and after that a prerooted kernel, but don't make updates over the air when your bootloader is unlocked

Frankly speaking, that sounded a little sarcastic for some reason.
Anyways, what do I do now? How do I get that notification off my notification bar/drawer?

Uninstall update center will solve your problem. You don't need it anyway. Or flash the .ftf which should be uploaded somewhere here on xda
i think it wont brick your phone as long as you have a locked bootloader. but you will lose your root access

It will brick his phone, because his bootloader is unlocked (he is using extended stock kernel!). So don't accept the update!

:good:
so to TS, you may relock bootloader and root via the downgrade and update method if you really want the .587 update

If I were him, I'd wait for someone who upload the .587 ftf. Then he can just flash it and a prerooted kernel like rage kernel for 4.0.4 and he has the latest rooted sony ics firmware
I will just chuck the update and uninstall update center as advised.
Thanks a lot for the info guys
Update to .587 and then follow this tutorial to root your phone. I did it already!

[Q] Xperia Neo Problems.

Hi,
I wanted to root my phone, but it has a locked bootloader. I looked on a couple of turorials, and flashed a kernel. After that Phone, messages and all media apps disappeared, and errors came such as Keypad stopped working, and Android stopped working and stuff like that. And i couldn't root. So i want to know how to fix this how to unlock the bootloader.
EDIT: I fixed the apps by updating through PC Companion. Now i just want to know how to unlock. I've unlocked it now so i guess that's all i wanted.

I tried to install FXP CM10 on my Sola but failed. I tried to flash boot.img with cmd and Flashtool, but both gave me the same error: "phone not rooted".
My phone is rooted with CWM installed. It's running stock Sony ICS 4.0.4, 6.1.1.B.1.54
Can anyone help me with this?

you need to unlock bootloader. You can't flash custom kernel without unlocking bootloader.
Before doing so i recommend you to take a look here:
1)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361121
2)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
3)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920189.
I gave you these link for the following reasons:
Unlocking booloader means void warranty, but using the third link you will lock again your bootloader and you will have back your warranty.
Unlocking booloader means also losing mobile bravia engine. Using the guide from the first link you will be able to save drm keys useful for getting bravia engine working again.
Now, the second link is how to unlock your bootloader, since you know now the benefits, the risks and the solutions.
Thanks for all the links, but I have just one last question: if the drm keys are cleared what will I lose besides BE?

If applied, the update may download but will fail to install.
I see. 4.2.2 was the reason i unlocked it and checked out custom ROMs.
Sadly they lack stamina mode And use way too much battery when Not used (no deepsleep).
Now i hope for a tablet UI mod for Sonys 4.2.2.
Deactivate the update app via Titanium Backup (so that it`s not bugging you anymore) and remain on 4.1.2. It's a wonderful ROM, don't believe that you need another ROM to be happy with your XTZ.

Not at this moment no, but it appears that a pre-rooted zip isn't far off.

You will likely be waiting some time, because it's possible to downgrade and flash pre-rooted zip or to OTA certain FW's maintaining root, I don't see devs putting a lot of effort into finding an exploit. That said best hope is probably an exploit being found for Z3 which is transferable to Z2, but as I say you may be waiting some time.

Try to create a rooted update package from the update ftf: [4.4.4] Create ROOTED update package from stock FTF [LOCKED BOOTLOADER]
So I need to flash dual recovery to do that
How can I make a full stock backup just in case I need to use it for warranty?

You don't need, you can flash back an original ftf anytime or repair with Sony PC Companion. We are talking locked bootloadr, so until you don't unlock it, you have warranty.
But if you already have root on prev. firmware, you should install DualRecovery and boot into TWRP and you can backup your system there.

Yes, if you have older firmware on the phone, you can try the root options available and you can use recovery without unlocking th bootloader. If you have the latest, than you can possibly flash an older firmware to your phone and root that. But you need to read a bit, to understand everything correctly.
I have successfully rooted my Z2 on 4.4.4 locked bootloader
