My boyfriend has a Samsung galaxy s3. It was a Sprint phone that is now flashed over to straight talk. I guess I was gonna try to update my android a while back so I made a backup. That is what the CLOCKWORKMOD folder is on my phone.. correct?? Since that backup was made a while back, can I just go ahead and delete the stuff in the BACKUP folder & all the crap in the BLOBS folder... without it harming my phone?? And then can I just do a new backup?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank u
reply
Can someone please help me with this?? Please read my above post/comment... please? Any help is appreciated
Blobs are CWM's way of doing incremental backups to save time. You can delete that if you don't need the backup.

Been reading for 2 weeks now. Here's what I have come up with and would appreciate help. Have ADB, rooted Tbolt. Know how to work with ADB. Have Titanium Backup, have run backup all user apps and system data. Downloaded perfect storm rom. Know how to put that on.
Question is this. Before I put on the new rom.. If I want to go back to original rom do I just go to titanium backup and do a restore? OR am I missing something? Sorry for this if it's somewhere in the forums. I can't find all this in one! Thx

You do back ups and restores in the recovery system. Reboot to recovery and then navigate to backup and restore

"Dear Sir/Mdm,
My name is Devin Jadewood.
I am emailing the developer of GO Backup for help regarding the restoration of a backup I created using your excellent software GO Backup.
GO Backup is very useful in backing up and restoring my data.
However, i changed recently from Sony Xperia X10 phone to Sony Xperia U phone.
So, I wanted to restore my backup of Sony Xperia X10 phone to Sony Xperia U phone.
Then, unfortunately, i accidentally deleted the GO Backup folder from the Sony Xperia 10 phone microSD card thinking that there was no backup.
But, I had pressed 'extract text messages from backup' option last time.
So, I noticed that there is still a "messages_gobackup_2012-07-17_12-49-57" xml file in the root folder of the microSD card.
Please tell me how do I restore it to my new Sony Xperia U phone.
Thankyou for your kind attention.
I would appreciate it if you help me.
Devin Jadewood."
also i tried using other backup apps to restore the xml file but the xml file was not compatible.
computer softwares to decode the xml files also dont work as i have no xls stylesheet for this file.
i tried xls stylesheet of other sms backup apps and they are not compatible.
pls help. thankyou very much
Have you tried creating a backup on your new phone, then go to the folder where the backup was created, and replace the file with your old backup. Then restore it.

Well.....MOST are smart enough to make a Nandroid Backup before changing anything. But if you need help then I'll need to know what Rom you we're using or if it was stock..

Well im new to this stuff. The only thing i done to my phone was root it. I didn't know what nandroid was till i looked it up. My phone is stock besides the root.
Here is the phone.apk from the T-Mobile ICS ruu that I pulled from a nandroid I made before I did s-off. You can try to push it to system/app and set permissions to rw-r-r using root explorer or similar. Not sure of it will work or not. You may just want to titanium backup and restore to factor. Good luck
I assume you are on ICS, probably shouldnt use this if you are not

thanks
nothing!!!!!!!
First of all, it is rude to others for you to ping on your thread every 2 hours. If someone has an answer, he/she may reply to you. Please be patient; someone will help.
Secondly, about your question. Is your phone rooted? If yes, you can use titanium backup to backup your application and data and copy the backed up archive file to another phone to restore it there.
