[Q] Nexus 9 softbricked - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I was trying to flash the new cyanogenmod nightly, I mistakingly wiped the system in twrp. Now, I can't get passed the google boot screen and for some reason twrp isn't working. Also, my device is locked. Can anyone please help me?

If you can't get into twrp you're hosed. You can't unlock the bootloader to flash the factory image with out booting and you can't do that now. So your only hope is with twrp.
Do you still have unlock enabled in developer options?

I'm afraid not, every time I try to unlock the boot loader is says permission denied and refuses to unlock.

I assume you're trying fastboot oem unlock. If do you're probably screwed unless you can get in twrp.

[Q] Hboot won't unlock

Okay so I used the SuperCID apk and it converted my CID to a bunch of Twos and then I used the HTC unlock method to unlock my phone. But after I select root my phone I'll void the warranty it boots into Android mode where I reboot it into recovery it says locked. It doesn't say relocked or unlocked it simply says locked like it never unlocked my phone even though it had just said it unlocked it maybe 2 minutes prior. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it?
Can you try to explain what's happening a little bit better.

Did you flash the unlock_code.bin file?

Okay so I ran the SuperCID from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36976137 and it changed my CID to 22222222.
I then do "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" that I got from HTC and then select Yes on the prompt.
It then boots into normal android mode and then it goes through the normal setup. I then enable the debuging mode and then do
"adb reboot-bootloader" it then reboots into bootloder locked.

Is there a way for you to take a video of when you send the unlock token and click yes on your phone. Because I'm really not sure what's going wrong.

I've only heard of it taking multiple times if your trying to re unlock, not on the first unlock.

Just keep trying... some people get it first try other dont...
If you do a factory reset first from bootloader then unlock, it will work first time every time.......it'll wipe your SD tho. Once you have a custom recovery flashed don't use that method anymore tho

For me. I had to turn phone completely off. Then boot into HBOOT/Fastboot in order for the unlock to work. Make sure fast boot is unchecked in the power options before turning off.
In about three minutes this video should show a HTC DNA not unlocking even with SuperCID change and the correct file to unlock the phone with.
Code:
youtu.be/6P7mQ0rP-ms
Just keep at the command. Keep redoing it until it sticks. Took me 5 tries. Now I'm S-OFF & unlocked...with the OTA. Just keep doing it. It'll stick...eventually.

Thanks a lot turning it completely off actually did the trick. Now my next question is since I had to put on a custom recovery to install Super User now do I install a stock recovery so that it can do over the air updates now that I have S-Off. If it updates my stock rom with OTA will I have to flash a custom rom to root it again or will SU still be there because its S-Off?

I'm not sure why'd you want to take the ota, but yes, you'll need the stock recovery if you want to take it. Then you'll need to install a custom recovery and install a superuser package.
Having s off has nothing to do with superuser or the ota.

[Q] Help, can't get past bootloader

I had a unlocked bootloader, rooted rezound running AOKP JB rom. Now after trying to flash a differnet kernel (stupid me) I can't get past the bootloader screen. I was able to relock my bootloader but now on Hboot screen it says ***tampered*** *****relocked**** and ****security warning**** I am completely stuck. Am I SOL or is there a chance to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get back into fastboot. Unlocked your phone. You can just go back and flash the boot.img that was on your original rom

You won't be able to flash a rom or kernel if your s-on and locked. The only thing you can do is try and unlock bootloader or run RUU and restart from scratch
I can't unlock boot loader. Went thru the process and it said the token was too long. So I guess I'll look for the RUU and give it a go.

At what point did it say that? When you are trying to get it from the HTC site? If that's it you are just copying too much. Make sure you don't copy any extra characters at all.
If it's when you are flashing the unlock token bin file then I agree that you should just run the RUU and get back to fresh stock then try again.
Use the RUU that is the .12 version rather than the global leak, unless you have already run the global leak one, if you want to be able to take the newest OTA.
I tries to flash ruu from my pc. The command prompt said “access denied"
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
And your bootloader is locked? You talked about getting the unlock token, did you unlock it again before RUUing?
It needs to be locked to run the RUU.

Fastboot flash and then the name of the ruu

It was locked when I tried to flash ruu
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Try this:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip {nameofruu}.zip
Or place it on your sd card and flash it in hboot
If it's an exe file you need to double click on that on your pc while the phone is connected.

way to check if bootloader is unlocked?

i used CASUAL to root my phone and it had and error midway through, and i rebooted and i am rooted. i just have no idea if my bootloader is unlocked or how to check that.

[Q] Getting back to FULL stock

Hey all,
so I've come into a bit of a conundrum. I was playing with the MaximusHD Jellybean 4.3 ROM. It was alright, but not for me. So I decided to flash back to stock. After a bit of finagling, I got a Stock Rooted 4.1.2 ROM for my phone, and was able to flash it. But now, I can't RUU my phone back to complete stock. Relocking the bootloader produces a **Security warning**, which prevents booting. Now, with an unlocked bootloader the stock ROM boots fine -- but locked, it doesn't boot and goes directly to bootloader. Can someone please walk me through getting my phone back to normal? I've used the RUU before to return to complete stock once before, except I'm not sure what I've done wrong this time around. Any help is appreciated. Also, I have TWRP recovery (latest version), unfortunately without a Nandroid backup
My phone works fine right now -- albeit rooted. Thank you!
Try flashing a stock recovery before relocking.

Exact same problem here
Hi,
I have the exact same problem here, i've had my HTC One with a 2-year plan @t-mobile but with the stock rom i haven't had any t-mobile bloatware/splash screen. Is that normal?
Also if i flash a stock t-mobile rom it hangs at the bootloader.

Yes it will help. I am no dev. Once your s off you won't need to lock your device and can run ruu

Unfortunately, flashing a stock recovery just prevented my device from booting normally. I had to reflash TWRP to get it to boot properly... unless I just didn't give the boot process enough time on the stock recovery.
You can put any recovery on your phone, lock it, and run fastboot rebootRUU from hboot to run the RUU.
