Does your phone boot into fastboot mode ?? The mode from where you enter recovery. If it enters fastboot mode, then the problem is not a major one. You can flash a stock 4.4.4. If otherwise, then I think that's a quite serious problem. Cause, if fastboot doesn't show up , then probably your phone is hard bricked and you need to show it to the Service centre people !

Looks like you hard bricked your device. If you can go into the fastboot/bootloader screen in the phone, them no problem. Just flashing the 4.4.4 rom should be enough. If you can't, you have hard bricked your device. This happens because the bootloader was updated by Motorola and downgrading leads to bricking.

try removing/changing the battery.charge it to 100% and directly flash a ROM and see.Since you have patched ur HSPL,so this may work.
CAUTION : this attempt may lead you to JTAG.but i guess,is the only possible and safer method to recover ur device.

[Q] Can Download and Recovery Mode be made available by Samsung ?

Hey Guys.
I recently Hard Bricked my Vibrant while flashing a Custom ROM. It won't turn ON at all.
I am shipping the Phone to Samsung Repair Centre in Texas from India.
I had a talk with the Call Centre where they said that I should just give them the piece without the Battery and Battery Pack and they will only repair my piece and will not Replace it anyhow.
I am fine with them just repairing my piece rather than replacing it, but the issue is that I have only Download Mode available on my piece and the Recovery Mode is Factory Disabled.
My Questions are,
1) Whether they will make the Recovery and Download Mode available back on my Vibrant after repairing it ?
2) The phone is very much off the 30 days mark for the Return Policy to work, so is it still their obligation to Replace my piece with a one that has a Recovery and Download Mode enabled on it if the repairing solution doesn't do the trick ?
3) I am shipping the Phone from India so how should I make sure that the Phone that they have Repaired or Replaced with has the Recovery and Download mode working on it ?
4) Also, in my Country we have a Samsung Galaxy S International available, so is the Motherboard of Samsung Vibrant and the International Model similar for the Service Centre over here to repair it ?
Any Help is appreciated.
Thank You.

I'm assuming u rooted the phone b/c you must in order to even attempt to flash a custom rom...
So you want to send a rooted phone in for repair??
Its very hard to brick the vibrant....u probably have a soft brick....did u try Odin to restore your phone back to stock?? Try that before sending it anywhere

Thanks for Reply.
No, Guys. I know what Odin is.
The phone is Hard Bricked. That means nothing will show up on the screen to do anything at all. It is a well known issue and it is very much possible with your phone too.
From what I have read on the forum, the USB doesn't work due to some bootloader corruption and thus you will not be able to try anything on your phone and Wires need to be physically soldered onto the Motherboard to flash the bootloader and Stock ROM.
I want to enquire about the issue of whether Download and Recovery Mode which comes factory disabled in the newer Vibrants, be enabled by Samsung itself ?
Thanks for your Help.

Have you heard from Samsung yet as to how much the repair cost will be? I have to send mine there after a Kies update killed by boot loader (the most common reason why a Galaxy S won't show any signs of life and only way to truly brick them). I had a local repair shop jtag it before Kies killed it again, but they couldn't fix the hardware lock.
I got it to a point like that as well. Even when I plugged it in to charge and such, nothing happend. I was still able to ODIN it though. What I had to do was just the battery pull method of putting it into download mode (pull battery, sim and sd cards, open ODIN, connect phone to pc, pop in battery while holding volume buttons) and it worked for me.
Like others say, it's really difficult to hard-brick Vibrants. If either primary or secondary bootloader has been corrupted, you shouldn't have Download mode. Try search more and find out what others did to get out of such situations. You should be able to flash away UNLESS your internal SD card has been fried/messed up. The repair will probably cost you ridiculously large sum of money. Samsung will probably replace internal SD memory (I think it's MoviNAND flash memory module) and flash new firmware. But again it will cost money. I would do everything I can possibly think I can do before sending it off to repair centers.
EDIT: If it is your cellular carrier accepting your phone for examination and think that the cause is hardware malfunction, the carrier will REPLACE your phone. If you are not sending it to your carrier, however, and you are sending it directly to Samsung repair center instead, they will most likely incur repair fees. Not sure 100% but Samsung must be able to tell if you've ever flashed custom firmware and flashing custom kernels and ROMs void manufacturer's 1 year warranty. And this will probably be true unless you flash a stock ROM before shipping it, but this is ironic and according to you doing so is impossible. Try Odin JFD again!

I take it yours wasn't hardware locked then. It's interesting that you were still able to get Odin to recognise the phone when it wasn't showing any sign of life. Were the lights turning on?

I'm trying to find out exactly how much Samsung would charge to repair a screwed up boot loader caused by a Kies update. The device was flashed to stock prior to the update; however, there is a TiBu folder on the internal sd. The Samsung agent I spoke with opened a support ticket and said it would be repaired under warranty as long as nothing was done to the device to void the warranty. I'm trying to decide whether to have it jtagged and still have it hardware locked, or take a chance and send it to Samsung for a proper repair, fixing the hardware lock and boot loader.

[A] If you Brick your P500 - warranty -

I bricked my phone (completely dead, the screen was not turning on even by plug the phone charged) after rooting and installing the custom recovery and try to flash a rom ... Brought to assistance, they repaired it (they changed motherboard i think).
So, if you brick your phone but still it does turn on, try every possible method to unbrick it, but send it to warranty only if is completely dead!!
I don't think they'll repair it in warranty if they found a custom recovery...
A few people here have confirmed that it IS under warranty if it doesn't turn on. There are also a few advices there on how to get it back to stock, such as shaking it (lol XD) and disabling the LG modem driver. Did you have to pay for the repairs?

Hi guys, i just bricked my phone after i tried to install the new update V10_00H. I send it for a warranty and i told them that the phone turned off after i tried to update. After 1 week they called me that the warranty is rejected because of unauthorised update. Sorry if my englosh is bad, i'm from Bulgaria. Can you please tell me what to do. Here is an another warranty service and the guy who called me, told me that he will write me a new warranty to try at the other service. Please, tell me what should i do?

It doesn't matter what you tell them, they will probably check the phone anyway. Stick to the story that you tried to update to the last software version using LG PCSuite and the update failed, bricking your phone. This is definitely covered by warranty.
But before that, have you tried the advices found here?

Здрасти, Крис Предполагам телефонът ти е от Виваком ...You should threaten them with the Consumer Protection Commission (a.k.a Комисия за защита на потребителите. Stick to your story in your complaint to CPC and VivaCom.
By the way have you tried to reflash your phone with the KDZ Updater using the EMERGENCY, not the DIAG mode? That saved my live. Just remove your battery and plug the phone into the PC. The screen should become yellow displaying "Emergency mode". If it doesn't turn on whatever you do, it could be a hardware issue and you will not get away without taking the phone to a service.

Да телефонът ми е от Виваком. But i took it once to warranty service in Vivacom and they returned it whit the warranty rejected and unusable anymore. The guy wrote me another warranty but i think that the phone's serial number is entered in their system and no matter i take it they'll find out. But i'll have to try. I won't give up. When they returned the phone they showed me in the warranty that point 4.3 is: "The warranty is rejected when you try to manually open, repair and change the hardware or you install updates and you modify the software". That was their excuse. That's why I don't want to say that i updated it. At the other service (not Vivacom's) I'll say that the phone just went off and it doesn't want to turn on. Hopes this work.
Any updates on the matter? My phone is bricked too. Happened last night, it won't turn one now. Took it to the service center & they said that high chances are that I will get a replacement.
they're not actually replacing with a new one..they'll replace it with a refurbished one.

RMA is probably your best bet. the hidden, signed partition seems to be corrupted - which means no fix without nvflash, and that requires the encryption key.

Best thing is to not even have to deal with it. You deserve a new working device. Since you only had it 12hrs. Or so, just exchange it immediately. Whatever store you got it from warranty still good on it. Tell them n less than 12 hrs this happened and now you either want an exchange or a refund.

No, actually your case of bootloader error is the first I've ever heard of this. To be honest, there are other possible issues some have had in other areas, but alot also have fully capable working devices also. I wouldn't be too worried about getting a new device. I'd be more worried having to send my brand new one in for a repair when I haven't even had it 24hrs. Yet.
this means that the "blob" flash has faild at flashing bootloader
this is unrecoverable without nvflash

Exactly. Which is why its inexcusable and needs to be returned to store for an exchange. He just got the device n less than 12hrs and needs to send it in for repair. No way. He deserves a new device St least able to boot up out the box..lol. plus Asus would make him pay to send it in. Hell nawww...lol
indeed get a replacement ASAP
on a side note this is a very good argument for nvflash .... if we had that this would be fixable
ohh one thing you could try is
1) power off the device
2) hold volume-dwn + power untill the screen shows text
3) press volume up
4) look for on screen errors (if you see an android the recovery image may be bootable)

if ur device is still under warranty.. take it service center n say that the phone died while updating lg firmware... they will replace the pcb then

Are you sure that this operation doesn't break the warranty????
And I can't replace pcb by my self???
And how many days they want to do replacing operation??
Thank you
just don't tell them that your phone was rooted.
say that you were updating firmware via LG Support Tool and then the installation stucked.

this does void warrant but who knows that u rooted it when it will not even boot up.... do the thing the other guy said just above this post...
n I guess u don't like to mess up with your phone by trying to replace things by yourself... good luck..
and no. of days they will take depends on the availability of pcb with the service center..

Solution is only one..let bring it to LG SC if phone is unresponsive is easy for them to change pcb without controling if you make root or not..they don't cares about it..
But be sure that your phone is out of control it means that you can't be able to turn on..and is still off!..
I know it because one time I had flashed recovery through mobile data and was wrong way..phone died and after 4 days I had have my mobile back from SC..
Okay First thing is to give the phone to lg support center and don't tell them that was rooted before that I should ensure that the phone is dead
okay I will do that today thnx all and wait for my feedback
are you tried hard reset after using kdz because my friend faced same problem after using kdz but after hard reset my friend phone work like new
you can do hard reset using
try this
Remove battery, replace battery Press Volume Down + Call + Power button. Release Power button when you see LG logo but hold the other two unless you see new screen
go the optimus me group you will find what you want for optimus me and you will get fast support then xda
