I had send two devices to some engineers at HTC HQ to test a couple network issues that my company is having with the CDMA spectrum. One of the devices came back with HTC SSD Test Tool loaded onto it. Does anyone know how I can copy the application from this device onto another? Possibly rip the file to store on my PC?
Thanks
Any new ideas?
Good afternoon. Its a new day here and i am wondering if it is worth it to try and save this application. I went into the file manager and i see no way to share it to another device. Would gaining root access allow me to have access to pull this app off of the device?

Hi,
according to following thread I got a question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783961
The HTCSense Service has launched now. My question is, will it work on a HD2? Do you need any updates oder something else?
And my next question is, which of these things are still working on the HD2?
http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
-> I know, that the loudness control of the ringtone is supported, but which of these things will work too?
And the most important thing which should work is the remote lock ability. Will this be possible on HD2? - still answered by myself!
Has anyone detailed information or maybe tried this service?
I preffer to buy a HD2 because this phone is the most capable for my requirements, and if HTCSense-Service is working too, I will buy it instantly

Edit: I have found some Information on the HTCSense.com page itself. Supported devices are currently only Desire HD and Desire Z.
Anyone knows if older devices will supported in future? Because e.g. Desire is the same as Desire Z except the keyboard!
i think its android only.............
Hmm, every device manufacturer sets focus on developing and improve Android or Windows Phone 7 devices. Why do they all forget WM 6.5 which is still not dead. That this will not work on WP 7 is clear, because of the restrictions WP 7 brings by itself. But for Windows Mobile 6.5 it would be possible to implement, maybe there is any equivalent solution to manage data and security via web-frontend?!
There is still another question unanswered:
Which of these features work with HD2?
http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
I passed my question about support of older/further devices to HTC, I'll post their reply as soon as I got answer.
Edit:
Microsoft My Phone is doing exactly the same what HTCSense.com provides. But it would be very great if I can synchronize my stuff witch HTC, and re-synchronize it with another phone, maybe an Android device in future. Or a Windows Phone 7 device... today I don't know which device will be my next. So therefor this would be very great.
Has anyone ever tried Microsoft My Phone or any other service to save phone data and lock phone if it gets lost/stolen?

I use microsoft my phone whenever I have to hard reset and it has always been very reliable......... basic but reliable........
The whole point of the htc sense web side of things is just to try and tempt people into moving to a htc device........
Although 6.5 might not be "dead" as far as xda is concerned, htc however probably do not really care about 6.5 anymore, there certainly will not be anymore 6.5 handsets released.......
Anything that can be acheived through sense.com can already be acheived through 3rd party app already available for 6.5.......
Okay, you think, the HD2 is the best choice if I want to have a WM6.5 device? Or should I wait for newer devices? Or will there never be new devices? I really don't like any other OS than WM, because it has many advantages, I guess more than any other OS.
Back to topic:
I even read the page from HTC again and there are only 4 points important to me. So which are working with HD2, too?
1. "Ever fumbled with your phone because it went off at full-blast during a meeting? Well, don’t worry! Now as soon as you lift your phone up to see who’s calling, the ringer volume gets lower. Want it silenced completely? Just flip it over."
2. "When you don’t want to miss that special call, your phone knows when and how to get your attention. For example, if it’s tucked away in your bag it will know to ring louder."
3. "Now when you look to see who’s calling, you get to see their latest social status updates or if they have a birthday coming up. The conversation starts before you say hello!"
4. "Don’t worry about missing the next turn when a call comes in. Your map stays on screen while a call bar gently slides its way into view."
All points can be found on http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
I'm not sure, but I think point 1 and 2 are working - are they? A few months ago I got a HD2 from my company. But I weren't able to check all of the stuff... Now I changed the company and don't have a HD2 anymore. I really want to have it to detach my XPERIA X1.
I dont think any new 6.5 devices will be released so yeah the HHD2 is definetely your best bet.........
1 + 2 are working.....
3 doesnt Im afraid.....
I dont know about 4 as I dont use my my phone for navigation, not yet anyway....
I use my phone as navi only in foreign cars, because my own car has a built in navi
Maybe anyone knows whether this is working or not.
Do you know which version of Sens/Manila is installed on latest HD2 stock rom? And is there any page or wiki, where I can see all the features of this version?
I recently got my hands on a quite interesting device, a cideko simple box.
Just for the sake of it, I'd like to hack it, and maybe even get a custom rom on it.
It's basically a set-up-multimedia-thingy-box for a TV running android, and it's pretty damn cheap.
Using adb via TCP/IP I was already able to connect and also get a rootshell (yay!)
However, it seems like no firmware files/instructions how to flash are available by the manufacturer (nay!)... I already asked them nicely, let's see what I get back.
You can find the adb bugreport output here if you're curious.
Anyone wants to help?
Florian
Saw this hardware before. 600Mhz, no openGL or any accelleration for games, nothing.
It does play back media files, but that's about it.
Very low-end chipset from Skyviia.. ARMv5TEJ at ~228 bogomips is pretty bad.
Does it support the install of apk files from USB? and does it allow flash on websites?

Did you manage to customise your Simplebox? I bought one and the description said "Install Apps and games via the built in SD card slot (APK files)" but I can't find anything in the manual.

I have one too. I like the device and the air keyboard, plus it was pretty cheap. I was really pleased that SMB/CIFS support worked out of the box and witha few other things, but thats where it stops. The software included is the let down, not the machine itself. Video playback is out of sync 99% of the time until you fast forward and/or rewind then it magically syncs up again, only 1 CIFS connection at a time, the vast majority of apps will not install and those that do fail to run, the video software displays long file names in such a way, that you cannot determine which file is which, etc. I sent Cideko an email asking them to pretty please provide a new update addressing these issues, but I heard nothing back and I sent it months ago.
The picture is good, the device is unobtrusive and if you rename your file appropriately then it is a bearable media streamer, but it could have been the best little cheap media box ever with just a little care and attention. Disappointing that no one is interested in improving it.
So I know I most likely have to wait awhile for the breakout to be rooted. I was just wondering if any of the developers on this site where actually looking at doing it as we speak? I have tried using other methods currently out there to see and no luck so far.
Just got mine. Looking to root too.
I have also tried many different root methods none of which have proved successful. I recently had to upgrade from a droid incredible.i also have the Asus transformer which is the financial reason I had to settle with the Pantech. With the upgrade I lost my free tethering ability, I am now back to the Incredible until I can figure out how to root the Pantech. If anybody has some knight please let me know thanks.
not sure if this will help but I posted the breakout system dump here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18211013#post18211013
I also found how to get into recovery by powerng off then holding power and the search button while powering on. However I am still unable to root. Maybe I am not understanding what the system dump is.
A system dump is when a dev gets the phone to copy the entire Android OS to the computer sort of like a dump truck dumping it's content into a hole you made (in layman's terms). This allows the devs unfettered and unrestricted access to the core of the phone's software components which they use to find a flaw in the system that allows the phone to be rooted. That's step one.
Step 2 is after the phone's OS has been rooted is to use that to gain access to the phone's boot loader and install a 3rd party recovery (like clockwork) that will show up when you press the power button + the search button. Right now you only get the stock Pantech bootloader area which does nothing unless you have the Pantech stock firmware and a special software verification key. You have neither.
Step 3 is then using the stock firmware dump to create custom, flashable ROM's which you can then flash using the 3rd party recovery software.
We're well into step one with the system dump. I'm gonna grab it and see what exactly they did to stop Gingerbreak.
Thanks for the information D.. I am going crazy I had just bought my Asus transformer so did not have enough money to buy the Bionic. Verizon initially told me i would be able to use the Pantech for unlimited tethering since I had a grandfathered plan now they told me it would be 30$ for 2gb a month. I am in desperate need to root the Breakout if anybody has any insight it would be much appreciated
[Q] How to root a pantech breakout
Is there a way to root a pantech breakout yet? I have tried superonclick, gingerbreak, and z4mod with no luck & I am running android os v 2.3.3 gingerbreaed.
Not yet, from what I've seen. And I'm with ya, tried all the current rooters. But looks like Google patched something in the 2.3.3 release that blocks the current methods. Hopefully someone will find something soon (wish I knew enough about programming). This is an awesome little phone, and with a little root and customization, will be amazing.

have you tried the wifi hotspot app on market? It works for the breakout and u don't neeed to signup for mobile hotspot.
I am unable to find any apps that support wifi tethering on the Breakout. I have tried many including barnacle, pdanet, and more all to no avail. The only way I am able to use the Breakout as a hotspot is by using the preinstalled verizon app. I am currently on an ulimited everything plan and have been given a month free tethering. however, I am being told that I have a 2gb monthly limit and will be charged for any overages even with the "free" month. It was my understanding that having an unlimited data/web plan that tethering would follow suite, guess not. If anybody can offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated.
getting my breakout tomorrow...hopefully someone figures out how to root this thing!
tethering app
I found the tethering app that works for the Pantech Breakout. It works as a widget instead of an actual app but it goes off your unlimited data plan and it doesnn't require root. It is called tethering widget by HI-DEVELOP XD
Is there any way to upgrade ma os version to 2.3 .......???
Sent from my Karbonn_A1 using XDA App
root
Would any developer be interested in rooting this crap (breakout) for some money?

People are saying that because it has a locked bootloader, but that hasn't stopped Devs on other phones, so I am holding out hope for our Pantechs!
it's pretty unrootable(at the moment)
i had my breakout since it was released and have tried various methods to root it.
I even bricked mine while trying a method i was pretty sure would unlock the bootloader.so (for now) it is not rootable.

I would recommend the Moto X (2nd Gen) thanks to its stronger processor and everything else.
Regarding the rooting process, you should check the dedicated forum for this phone by clicking here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014
Does anyone still have HTC Flyer and want to have it updated to newer version. Or maybe has it updated succesfully?
I would be happy to just be able to get it to run through the regular update channels and get away from gb onto hc. Not able to set S-on anymore, for whatever reason. Trying to get the darn thing in a condition to run Torque Pro in the pickup and play mp3 from a vast pool on extsd.
