[Q] Android on an Nvidia T40-based Toshiba tablet - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
I accidentally grabbed hold on a tablet Computer from Toshiba, where there's already an Android OS pre-installed. Luckily, this device seems not yet to be locked, so that it's still possible to install images using nvflash.
Now I would like to create my own Android from scratch, but I don't know how to start.
Building Android does not seem to be the biggest problem. It's rather taming the nvidia beast with its nvflash and all the partitions and the other nvidia-specific things.
Also, how to find out which devices this tablet consists of ? (But maybe this is covered in some oft the other threads I still need to work through...)
Most important for now would be how to get familiar with the tegra...
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Boxy

[needhelp]PROGRAMMING VIA APX MODE!

Please forgive me that im witing this in the DEVS section,
however please don't critic/blaming me or telling that it is impossible to be done.
I know that programming and/or pushing file via APX mode it's POSSIBLE! if NVFLASH can do this so there a way to get it done manualy.
and about the .blob files that NVFLASH[wheelie] needs is truley possible to get it by your self even in hardbrick.
all i want to know it's how?!
what exactly the goal/mean of wheelie? how can i unbrick my tf201 whithout NVFLASH? and if with NVFLASH how can i do it without wheelie?
and please don't tellme that it's impossible.please.
---
furthermore, in the samsung I9000 thereno way to hear something like "sorry you are unlucky, get a RMA num'" the devs of i9000 trying to help andmake new things and ways. why TF201 don't have something like a JIG[301K RES]? why don't we have TJAG or something?!?!?!?! i think we have to learn from them.

It doesn't belong in dev section. Telling people to not critique you for posting it in the wrong place does not make it any more dev related.
IF there is a way to do these things, I assure you, they would be out there. Wheelie obviously does some magic stuff to even be allowed to use nvflash, and I wouldn't expect anyone to ever find a way no involving generating device specific blobs as we do.
JIG is device-specific. Samsung explicitly created it for recovery purposes - there's no reason to think asus would include something similar.
JTAG is disabled on all production fuses Tegra devices, so there's really no way to get access to that (Even if you get access to the pins, it would just refuse access.)

Seriously? You just want the holy grail handed to you and then you'd magically dev it?
I agree with what rayman says... rayman & the other folks at AndroidRoot have done us wonders with wheelie to enable nvFlash for our devices...
The truth of the matter is... you need to start by getting you basics right...nvFlash is the low-level utility for nVidia based devices & chipsets... I've used a Tegra 2 device before (GTablet) which was pretty much open and nvFlash worked out of the box... Here, however, Asus locked down things with very few ways to circumvent things...
With the information & knowledge available, wheelie is the only way to get nvFlash working.... why don't you read this amazing article written by the AndroidRoot team and understand the technicals of the situation.... http://androidroot.mobi/technical/tf-secure-boot-key/

So it is impossible to unbrick Primes? Or anyone is working on it? Do You know?=)
I have searched around regarding this.
It seems that there is a SBK calculator made for the Acer A500 device.
This was made to generate blobs that match your device's CPUID.
If we could get this working on the Prime, it might perhaps unbrick it. (?)

Sadly, that won't work.
SBK generation is vendor-specific - there's no standard.
The SBK calculator for Acer A500 is extremely specific to A500 and won't work on other devices. (Acer ****ed up and the algorithm they used essentially got leaked).
It's possible something similar exists for ASUS devices, but it's pretty unlikely we'll get our hands on such a thing.

Not if you have nvFlash enabled before you brick your device or upgrade to JB... if you have done [http://androidroot.mobi/t3_nvflash/], you should be able to recover from almost any brick...

[Q] ORION TAB-700QC firmware needed (atm7029 cpu)

Sal all,
I cannot find firmware for this tablet. It's a 7inch, dual camera, atm7029 quad core cpu, that doesn't start, but i can write firmware with Actions Pad Product Tool.
The only available firmwares for this type of cpu (atm7029) i was able to find, were from Ainol tablets, but these are not good.(only lights start 1sec)
Can someone help ?
10x in advance !
Hi! There is a similar device firmware from (Russian): (yadi.sk/d/Wku6HWTxKkaKa)
But WiFi and camera other.
System image
Here is the image of the system partition. Dumped with ADB from a working tablet. (512MB)
(mediafire.com/download/roc8870rirvt3hw/actc_system.img)
And this is the image of the recovery partition: (48MB)
(mediafire.com/download/fd30kaio8xb490j/acta_recovery.img)
If you want to see what's inside the images, mount the image in Linux, or use Linux Reader if you're using Windows.
How to use the actc_system.img and acta_recovery.img
Hi, I'm an android newbie needing help. I found this thread while searching for how to deal with a bootlooping Orion TAB-700qc tablet belonging to a friend.
Apparently my friend tried to update the tablet with the wrong update (I'm not really sure what he did), but it went into a bootloop -- it will not get past the "android" screen. I found how to go into the Recovery menu but nothing there would fix the problem. I have downloaded the actc_system.img and acta_recovery.img discussed in this thread, but I need step-by-step instructions for how to use them to get the tablet working again.
Can someone please direct me to instructions that I as a newbie will understand? I have worked a lot with pc's but I have almost no experience with androids.
Thanks,
cmNhu

[Q] iRulu 7" 4.2.2, Rooting problems.

Hey guys whats up, I'm wondering if anyone has any tutorials on how to root this android device.
(add ebay here) /itm/390819936531?var=660230775489&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
It is an iRulu 7 " tablet, as you can see I've posted an eBay posting on where I actually bought it from. This device surprised the heck outta me on all what it can already do, I would like to unlock more power if possible.
If anyone has any thought on how to actually root this device that would be great, I've tried pretty much everything so I don't really think its available. I think the problem resides on the computer you are on not recognizing the device after you had the driver installed.

TVpad2

I have a chinese TVpad2 mini-pc running on custom linux (factory OS) with busybox.
I want to install Android or anything other than the factory OS but there's a lot of problems with this device:
-Filesystem is CRAMFS
-Can only access as root through telnet
-Can't access bootloader or put into FWDN (no info how this is done for this device)
What I have:
-Firmware update that contains the kernel
-Telnet root access
-Physical access to device (USB flashdrive only)
There is a forum dedicated to TVpad but they are also having trouble installing an OS on tvpad2...
What do I need to know that will help me accomplish this?
thanks
TVpad3
Hi,
I actually have TVpad3 which is very similar to your TVpad2, and Im very keen on having Android developed for these TVpads.
Theres probably thousands of these wasted devices around the world after the TVpad pirate network got shutdown.
Ive searched high and low, and so far have Not found any trace of any custom Android development anywhere.
So hopefully we can kick start something here !
This is what I know so far ....
Since the devices run on highly stripped-down Android OS, we know these devices can run android and should be a potential for custom Android development.
Unfortunately theres little hardware or development info out there for these devices.
But as far as I know, the hardware platform for these models are all based on Telechip TCC89xx chips.
https://www.telechips.com/eng/Product/consumer_pro13.asp
I have a TVpad3 personally, which I believe is based on a Telechips TCC8925.
Ive found that there are a few similar devices out there based on this platform, including the Pandawill CX-01 TV sticks which have very similar specs to TVpad3 (512mb RAM, 4gb Flash).
So we definitely know that the TVpad's hardware is capable of running full blown Android !
http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/06...v-box-powered-by-telechips-tcc8923-cortex-a5/
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/36988-cx-01-cortex-a5/
Telechips has released platform sources here, with the latest being Android KitKat... its a bit old but could have potential for a starting point...
https://www.telechips.com/technical_support/kor/opensource/opensource_list.asp
I havent found anything about booting these devices into Recovery or ADB.
But there seems to be some mention of a "FWDN" mode here:
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/other-tv-players/4695-cx-01-information-by-tatubias
http://tvpadtalk.ca/discussion/506/how-to-unbrick-your-tvpad1
http://androtab.info/arm/telechips/how-to-update/
http://auswitch.xyz/2012/08/16/how-to-upgrade-firmware-for-cx-01-mini-pc/
From what I can gather, FWDN works in conjunction with a Windows-based utility used to flash firmware over a USB cable.
And this poses the biggest problem for TVpads, they DONT have any peripheral USB port !
I've pulled my TVpad3 apart, and found what appears to be provision for a USB header, but im not sure if these are functional even if a USB socket was soldered in ?
If we can get a functional USB peripheral port working, then that would lead us to the Second problem, that is, HOW to activate FWDN mode on the TVpad ?
From what I can gather, different Telechip TCC89xx based devices seem to have different ways to enter FWDN mode.
Some devices require a certain key combo to be pressed during power up, while others need a hidden button pressed or certain pins on the circuit board to be shorted.
So before we can even think about developing Android, we need to figure out those two issues...
1 - USB connectivity, so that we can flash it with FWDN tool.
2 - How to enter FWDN mode, so that the FWDN tool can talk to the TVpad.
If we can overcome these two issues, then we can start building sources.
Or even flash ROMs from similar Telechip TCC89xx based devices.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone out there.
And I hope we can really make some progress here
.
Unfortunately I've hard-bricked my TVpad2 playing around with fdisk command in telnet. I found out that if you repartition and then copied all the data back, changes will be persistent so you can store whatever onto the NAND flash. Just don't delete the partition containing linux which I idiotically did... oh well.
Anyway there's a command utility "tccbox" with various tools one of them having the ability to update firmware. Hopefully TVpad3 has it as well?
Sorry to hear you bricked your TVpad !
I guess your only way back is to FWDN flash it.
I wasnt even aware the TVpads had telnet enabled.
But that "tccbox" utility sounds very interesting.
I wonder if we can use it to flash firmwares from other TeleChips based devices ???
.... such as the Pandawill CX-01 TV sticks.

I don't have this device and i can only locate 1 thread where you might be able to obtain some member guidance within that's specific to your device.

Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
Do you think it could possibly be a Windows tablet and someone tried flashing Android on it I posted the model number and what not I could post a photo of the recovery because it's all good it's all like lines through the words and stuff like this just a thought I had

Your question is a valid one that prompted me to perform a quick Google search using the model number and such and after looking at a little over a half dozen results, I came to the following conclusion.
This came with Android 6.0 and was a budget Tablet that costs approximately $100.00 +/- brand new.
It seems as though the individual who had given you the tablet may have been unsuccessfully attempted one or more actions like Unlocking, Rooting, etc...
With a very limited amount of resources available for this device, there's really not much out there for help but, I'm not stating that there's no help. It's more of where to find it that's the challenge.
I wish that I could be of more help...
Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your time and help. At least I know it was most likely someone's fuk up then faulty
Still been messing with it cuz I have hope it's just soft breaking set but I got into the recovery log files going through them I found this one section I screenshotted check it out it's the same bored as the 8a 16gig version of what not so like those other post around where is has been mentioned to use the 8a Twrp etc on the 10a because it's the same board. This tablet is like the 2nd or 3rd gen that came out 2017 which has like at all winners CPU or something instead of Intel or something like that I've read somewhere and it also has Android nougat 7. 1 out the gate. So in theory I should be able to put that 8a twrp & boot Image to match on this one and then downgrade to 5. 1 or do something like remix Os or something custom.
??!?!?!!!!??????
so how the puck do I put a picture attached of the recovery log.

I have the same tablet I think. I can turn on and off and boat into recovery(words are faced and have lines through them) but I'm its staying stuck with Nextbook showing on screen. I'm trying to find stock or something so I can flash and get it fixed. Its a Nextbook 10" Model:NX16A10132sps. FCC ID: S7JNX16A10132SPS. Ill let you know if I find anything
I have both A64 and Intel versions.
The twrp for the 8a DIDN'T work on the A64 when I tried it.
It DOES work on the Intel.
If you can get to stock recovery and its messed up looking with the lines and stuff, that's the A64 version.
Don't hesitate to ask if anyone needs help if it's Intel.
My A64's are both bricked still so i'd be useless there.
Here are my backups from the Intel version.

And how to tell exactly which you have.
Trying to help a friend fix a Nextbook NX16A10132S/NXM1021CAP that is caught in a boot loop.
This is an Intel Atom based unit.
FTM mode is accessible (limited adb command support).
DNX mode is accessible (limited fastboot command support).
Based on the information in the build.prop file, it would appear to be an Android 6.0.1 system: ro.build.description=NXM1021CAP-user 6.0.1 MMB29M 20160919.050843 release-keys.
I cannot find any ROM, Update or image files for Android 6.
I would attempt re-flashing the unit to Android 5, but the image files linked to your post do not include the android_system or android_data partitions.
As I understand it, the android_data partition only holds user data and consequently does not need to be flashed, it only needs to be wiped, but the android_system partition is a must.
Do you know if stock Android 6 firmware is available anywhere?
If not, do you have a stock Android 5 image of the android_system partition?
Or, if I am completely off course, can you please advise?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
