BOOTLOADER UNLOCK BOUNTY THREAD
Intro
First, thanks to Pyres for a great Z3 bounty thread, and tuzonghua the ongoing bounty thread for the D6616 (from which I got this post's formatting). I figured it's about time to get the ball rolling on this somewhat overlooked device and get its own bounty thread going. This thread is specifically for gaining root on the D6708 (Verizon US) variant of the Sony Z3 (called the Z3v). The method proposed by user zxz0O0 works for many variants of this device, but the D6708 and it's T-Mobile cousin D6616 are excluded because the exploit has already been patched in the earliest available firmware for the devices.
The goal
The bounty's fulfillment requires obtaining root access in order to be able to backup the TA partition, where the DRM keys for the aforementioned technologies are stored. Once we have a backup for our TA partition, we can unlock the bootloader with the official Sony tool and then restore the DRM keys. In the event of hardware failure, we will be able to restore to stock the phone and to have no warranty issue.
New Objective
With root now achieved, the main objective of the bounty is to achieve bootloader unlock on the Z3v. A new thread will be posted in the coming days, stay tuned.
Payment will be processed between each member and the bounty collector via PM on an individual basis.

Not recently. I got all excited when Rowhammer was shown off and thought I could do something with that. But I'm trying a few other things.
thank you for working on this I really want to run adaware and gamehacker on my phone. I just hope its easy enough for me as I have never rooted anything.
I never thought to see a day when someone is actually pursuing to push further our device into its fullest potential. I hope you find something in your work, ghostlypickel.

OMG finally a bounty page and someone actually working on it!!!!! I'm going to pledge $20!!! I just want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU ghostlypickel for working on this!!!
Please hurry before Lollipop comes out!!
Just read the comment below
I appreciate the excitement guys, but please keep the thread on topic as per the OP rules. Comments simply stating that you can't wait for root are not appropriate unless the post also contains a pledge.
Any future posts that don't meet the criteria will be reported.

I would like to increase my previous pledge of $20.00 by $10.00, making my new total pledge $30.00.

Could somebody add to the bounty, that I will donate an actual Jetstream to any qualified devs to get this rolling? I can't post in the dev area with only 6 posts, but I have an extra due to the "boot loop" issue. I will gladly donate it, if it will get the ball rolling.
i'll add it to the bounty now

We found a very good developerhee can root it
Please check the bounty thread and contact the following member
@task650
these threads are seriously dead here in the Jetstream forums.
I just pledged $20 in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376505
I know little or none about Linux development so I can't contribute with knowledge.
So I pledge $100 (via paypal) to the person or group (according to the XDA rules below) who creates a fully functional unlocked bootloader for the nook tablet and contribute it to this community.
(Groups will have to divide the bounty amongst themselves.)
Post your pledge below and I'll tally the pledges in this OP.
$100 - nookabee

- The [BOUNTY] is to be donated directly to the DEV
- The [BOUNTY] will only be donated when the DEV work is complete
- You are not allowed to make demands to the DEV
- You can't promote yourself for a [BOUNTY]

Noted... I'll remove the coordination. I still pledge $100 via PayPal and hope others chime in!
I have received a few private messages asking for for progress reports on s-off along with several other requests such as bounties and such. I won't allow a bounty to be set up for s-off unless it can be delivered without any doubt! Since this is impossible to guarantee and per a few requests I've decided to set up a PLEDGE to the developer(s) or team(s) that can contribute to obtaining s-off.
How this will work.
If you are a developer and want to take a crack at getting s-off for this device then please be our guest. Of course you will require an HTC Amaze with S-ON and you will have to use your own device at your own risk!
Upon a release of a successful method of obtaining s-off for this device each member that places a pledge will be held accountable for the amount pledged.
HOWEVER, XDA-Developers, XDA-Developers Moderators, Admins and other staff members are NOT liable, obligated or required IN ANY WAY to interfere, object or in any way enforce the collection of any pledged amount from any member. All pledges are a promise from one member to whomever can successfully submit the means for the XDA Community with S-ON devices to obtain S-OFF without any other party being involved.
In other words, you are not guaranteed the amount pledged by any member and if the member(s) do not fullfill the quoted pledges then there's absolutely nothing the developer(s) or team(s) can do to force receipt of those pledges.
Upon receipt of pledges after the release of verifiable s-off method simply create a post and edit it accordingly with the names and values of each member that has been paid. I will then return to the post and edit it accordingly to mark that the member has fulfilled his/her pledged amount.
TO THOSE THAT PLEDGE OR WOULD LIKE TO PLEDGE.
By placing a value in a reply after this thread you are making a promise to pledge that said amount within 30 days of delivery of a successful method of obtaining s-off. Those that do fulfill the quoted pledged amount must be verified by the developer(s) and/or team(s) involved in releasing the said method. After receipt of pledged amount the developer(s) and/or team(s) should then add your name and amount received to a post and I will edit your post with the value of the amount paid as mentioned by the developer(s) and/or team(s) providing the said s-off method. When donating, please include your XDA member name so we'll know who to give proper credit to.
DO NOT DONATE ANY MONEY TO ANYONE PROMISING TO PROVIDE S-OFF!!!
You are not guaranteed by any one member(s) or team(s) that s-off can or will be accomplished. Donating any amount of money to obtain s-off will be at your own risk and XDA as well as other members and staff will not be held liable or responsible for lost funds.
Now what?
We don't have s-off. We probably won't have s-off. We are hoping to get s-off.
Do you want to help us get s-off? Do you think that you can help by pledging an amount? Post a reply below with your donation amount.
Example:
Binary100100 pledges $100
If you decide that you want to change your pledge then do NOT post another reply. Simply edit your thread.
To the "hero" that gets us s-off.
You simply need to post the method as another thread in Development then provide the link to this thread here.
Below the link add the list of those members that you have received the donation from and for the amount received.
Example:
xda-developers/example/link/amaze4g/s-off-method-link-here
Binary100100 donated $100
someone_else donated $100
some_rich_generous_guy $500
some_cheap_guy $5
Total donated so far $705
If anyone has any question the feel free to ask.
PLEASE keep this ON TOPIC.
PLEDGES AND INQUIRIES ONLY!!!
Failure to do so may have posts deleted and infraction for failure to comply.
Now... contributors, open your wallets. Developers, put on your thinking caps.
Thanks!
Amount pledged so far:
$998
EDIT:
So for once I have some good news!
Recognized Developer and better known as member of Team Revolutionary ieftm seems to be interested in helping us with S-OFF!
Of course this means that he needs to get a phone in hand.
We can do this one of two ways.
We can get a volunteer to risk sacraficing their own device to get s-off. Keep in mind that the device will NOT be compensated if damaged or lost in the process and will be at your own risk! It will need to be shipped to Netherlands.
We can donate to ieftm so that he can pay the full price for the device. This is what I would recommend personally.
If you would like to donate directly to Team Revolutionary do so by clicking the link in ieftm's signature.

Have a nice day.

I just went to both the T-Mobile and Sprint forums, just for kicks, to see what they have to choose from. And what do I see, everything I want!!!! I'm so sad, why can't Verizon stop being douche bags and let us unlock our bootloaders!!!! Like htc, they log who had unlocked it so even if we revert to stock they still know we went through the unlocking process.
I saw and signed, the Verizon unlock bootloader petition, but that is just sending a very simple email to Samsung and Verizon, it's not getting in the public eye. What we need to do is create a petition with change . org and maybe challenge the current law that allows then to do this. I mean purchased this phone, it's our phone, we should be the deciders if our phones bootloader is unlocked or not.
I am going to check it out and research and start one. I believe if we hit 100,000 signatures the whitehouse must respond to it and we may win a battle the devs have been fighting for a very long time. I will be back so stay tuned, let's use this thread as a discussion thread, please don't close and lock this thread.
Thanks

Couple of points
I am going to try to sound as friendly as possible, but you know how online works, every thing is taken in a hostile way.
1- we have a thread with the same petition, that no re-reading your post says you have seen and signed it, its also a change.org petition too. Started by a member who I really respect, Brandonrz. We hit a lil over 650 sigs and it has been around for a long time. So not sure how another petition on the same site will generate more sigs.
2- its not your phone, more than half of it is subsidized by verizon. If you want your own phone, buy a DE phone. It comes in unlocked, for the full retail price. Tmobile users pay the full price of the phone, just spread out. Not sure how sprint subsidy works.
3- I really cant speak for mods, but from what I have seen, they don't respond well to " don't lock or close threads" they prefer those statements to be made in private messaging. Again, this is just a friendly advice, I am not a mod, and I cant speak for them.
4- one mod made a point before: XDA is not a petition site, its a development site. She/He was nice enough to let one petition thread stay, not sure if they will react the same in regard to this thread.
all the best .

In response to the quoted portions of the previous post;
#1- This is exactly right, there is an existing petition thread for this same exact issue, please do not duplicate existing threads.
#2- This is also true, however, I fully support the fact that carriers should not be allowed to hide open source software behind proprietary programs by means of a method termed Tivoization.
That being said, the Kernels for android were released under GPLv2, and this issue was not countered by the FSF until the release of GPLv3, effectively tying our hands. A petition might let them know you're angry about it, but they have every right under current law and licensing to laugh at you. And they are.
#4- You're absolutely right, I will not. Creating this second thread for the same purposes of the original serves no purpose and becomes redundant. While I can appreciate the passion displayed by the OP in regards to this matter, this thread is closed as a duplicate. Please be sure to read the Forum Rules in regards to posting.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Dear android developers
I am happy to tell you that, recently there is a new promotion activity ...

Ok, I would like to see some proof instead of signing up to some Ponzi scheme.
$5,000,000 USD is a lot of money to spend on a new company so I am leaning towards the aforementioned.
Ok now it seems even more dodgy, you have no proof but your promising $5,000,000 revenue?
Ok..

Ok you can prove this by showing us some customer vouches or something. I would not trust this service otherwise.
