Since you successfully installed the latest RUU which should have fixed any software issues. That only leaves hardware issues which would require servicing. You can try a factory reset either in bootloader or OS and check that the imei is reading correctly in Settings. If not, it is definitely a hardware issue. Sorry!

Try re-doing the bootloader. Sounds like a bad one. I've had that happen as well.

hmm.... does it at least attempt an activesync connection? Does it stay in long enough? What I've done... is gotten RomUpdateUtility all the way to the last screen... and clicked next as soon as activesync sees it.
so.. i updated the hard spl and nothing it still restarts

I take it you did a Lost / stolen phone? Or is it a replacement from verizon because it isn't working?
its under warranty so its free
Gotcha. I'm guessing they are making you send the old one back.
I am a little bit confused as my phone reboots by itself occassionally. I hade ROM Manager installed. I already unistalled it, kept the pro licence.
For example when surfing the internet, the phone rebooted for an unknown reason.
I uninstalled the licence key and watch no what happens.
Does anyone have an idea? Shoulkd I send it back to my operator asking for replacement or is it the ROM Manager. phone is not rooted, yet.
I had same issue. I ended up sending back the phone and also getting out of the contract with T-Mobile. New phone on O2 has been fine and not restarted once, old one was doing it approx once a day.
It may have been firmware related but on the thread i started other people with new firmwares were having the same issue.
Remove Rom Manager factory reset phone .

Thanks, will call them now! Good or bad to hear that others have the same problem.
This is what they say:
Software error
I send it back in exchange for a new one. Hope this fixes it.

(My apologies for the HTGC )
Hello All,
I got my HTC One X+ from Vodafone UK. Today I checked for software updates & it said "Software Update 1.17.161.7" was available. I am currently on Software Version 1.14.161.18.
After downloading the update, I tried to install it but when it would boot & start to install, a RED QUESTION MARK would appear on the mobile icon & the phone would boot into the OS.
My battery is 99% charged. I then unplugged my phone so it was wasnt charging but I encountered the same problem. What do I do ? CHEERS in advance.
Red question mark during 1.17.161.7 update. Help!

I had a similar problem and had to restore my phone - it was a real pain.
I believe the problem is with the bootloader. Is your bootloader unlocked and rooted? if yes, then you have to lock it and then update the phone.

I had exactly the same issue!
I tried to Update like 10 times, always getting stacked into that screensymbol with the red Answer/Questmark on it.
First question:
Did you encrypt your phone?
I'm not sure, but I guess it had something to do with that.
I'm not pretty sure about what causes the problem, but I can tell you the way i fixed the problem:
1. Get a proper recovery like that one of Lloir (THANKS to him!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074244
2. Get haason's toolkit (Thanks!)
3. Flash the new recovery.
At this point I guess, it could help.
I've done serveral steps in one row, that's why I'm not sure about what causes the problem.
Try this first, propably it will work out fine.

Just quoting myself
Didnt it solved the problem?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Cheers man. But I din't try this as I do't wana unlock the bootloader
Basic Info:
HTC One phone purchased in Hong Kong through a relative, so no idea who the provider/brand it's RUU is under
Now running on T-Mobile network in Texas
Never had been tinkered with before (Rooting/Flash-ROM/etc.)
Never had issues with it aside from only getting 3G internet (had used 4G on previous phone, same plan)
This all started randomly earlier today when the phone was idling on the desk, I was going to check something but it won't respond. I didn't have any updates pending/installing and only had a game open. First idea was no power so I plugged it into the wall, but the charging light wasn't lit so I assumed a dead internal battery. After trying a few more times, it turned back on! But this time it gives me a black screen after the white screen with the HTC logo in the middle, and to further annoy me it keeps restarting and repeating this. I tried the Hboot screen via Power+DownVolume but none of the options worked.
I tried all the options:
Fastboot (Reboot + Reboot Hboot)
Recovery
Factory Reset
Nothing worked at all and I've already scanned the forums for something similar but nothing comes up. Someone please help me fix it, I need it for work and can't afford another day like this. T-Mobile guys were no help and Best Buy guys did no better. Thanks in advance for all the help!
Did you try cleaning up the cache. You can also try flashing the M7 1.29 ROM for TMobile.
