I was planning on getting this phone tomorrow but I'm quit worried after seeing some people posted about this. Please answer I'm not flooding the forum or anything but I'm about to buy a very expensive phone after all.
I'm more worried if it's appear after several days as I'm going to a shop and inspect one first hand before actually paying. Yes there's warranty but who'd want to wait for even a day for a new one after paying such money right?

No issues whatsoever
Nope. 10 char
No problem or whatsoever. batt is very good. i can comfirm that.
I must be lucky as my display is pretty damn perfect - no lines, no pink on greys and an even brightness and colour throughout the panel.

Nope here, i think who complaint is just a really small fraction(maybe less than 0.001 ??), imagine around the world there is more than 3 million already have it( assume from the pre order news from samsung), nothing to worry here...
Definitely having problems, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079444 for one of the larger threads on the "yellow screen" issue.
I've been asked to wait 3 weeks for a replacement unit (and that is only an estimate).
Also, I am not completely sure that you would be able to check the screen before buying - the problem seems to get worse over time and it is extremely hard to spot at the beginning, I've been unable to spot it myself until 3 days after receiving it.
Edit:
I also believe that it depends on the person as well, some can see it whereas some other don't, but their unit is defective too. See one of the users that posted an image of his G2 saying that his unit his perfect, only to have somebody later alter the colour balance of the image to highlight the yellow part.
That's the links I found b4 asking here. Also how much storage have u guys got? Is there a 16g and 32g model? Cause I saw in most specification pages that reads 16/32. Shops in my country don't seems to offer this choice.

Ijat95 has a good point too I mean we don't see this in the news or appear in every sites. Htc or iPhone or other competitors would scramble to pay websites to spread the word right? Or so I think
Just like erathnor says, I think most of the devices(if not every device) have it.
It's just the owner who doesn't see it.
There are even people posting picks saying :"look mine does not have it", but you can clearly see they do. I need to see the first pic of an sgs2 without the problem.
However it's a great phone, and it's not that annoying and the time that you will see it are really small. However it's there.

Yep I have some lines visible only on gray, not visible yellow.
Nothing bothers me because I do not notice it in normal usage.
Light banding is the nature of Organic LEDs.
Yeah i would definitely like some pictures from people that say they don't have it.
It would really help out guys. Good solid pic with gray background.
So just to make sure, the yellowish screen only appear at certain time like when brightness is set low and in grey background? Its not like a really big hairy mold across your forehead right? I'm at a lost maybe I should wait for htc sensation but then with 1gb it feels like a middle end phone. Aww man

i had 4 phones.
1st: line problem
2nd: line problem + scratch on the metal bezzel
3rd: line problem + scratch on the metal bezzel (same place)
4th: perfect except from it getting really hot + smell coming from topleft of the phone
This is from 3 different stores~
Too many problems if you ask me. I'm waiting for the iphone5 to come out now.
I'm pretty sure every sgs2 screen has the same flaws. I've tried a few in different stores and each and every single one of them showed the same "problems". I did spot the ghosting, yellowish left side, blue tint and the lines right from the very beginning, but to be honest: I don't care. Those are barely noticeable in real life usage. People are getting obsessed over such things for nothing. Who is staring at a grey picture the whole day?
No screen is perfect - not on the SGS2 and not on any other device (don't forget the screen problems on the iphone 4) ...

I picked up your 5th phone from the Piccadilly Square store and it's perfect, perfect. Thanks.
Hello guys,
I wonder if somebody could have a look at the pictures and confirm that the back camera of my X+ is not in the correct position.
It is not centered and I can see some of the insides if I look at it from an angle.
Anyone having the same problem before?
I think I will to return it and get a new one.
Bishdariel
Mine is not perfectly centered as well. Not as bad as yours, but simliar... Did not see any problems in real use, so it will be more a design issue than a problem I guess...
I`m wondering WHY htc is doing things like that... They always have problems with centered camera eye... The same was in Desire HD and first series of HTC ONE X... Technology is on so high level today and they always have a problem to make it right. Its not low end phone its HIGH END! It should be made as HIGH as possible! I think thats why HTC loses theis customers.
Same as mine... It's not centered and I think this will be my last HTC device..

Is there anyone who has a centered camera lens, because I would like to know what the ratio of centered/uncentered is.

Damn, well sounds like the first thing to inspect when i go to the ATT store this friday to purchase mine! Can easily ask them for another if it looks messed up. Any other things to look for before walking out of the store with this device? Thanks
I noticed that the bottom left corner of my X+ screen was properly fitted into the case and I just pressed it a little and it would snap back again.
I am not sure if it was like that from the beginning but I noticed it on the first day after a short while.
But no harm from that, yet.
But overall I am very happy with the phone so far.
Even with the not centered camera lens, the pictures are fine and battery life seems to be very good for me.
With a custom ROM it might even be better. Coming from cyanogenmod on my Nexus One, I think I will be taking that ROM to the X+ when it is available, newest version of course.

My lens was also perfectly centered
BUT i´m sending the phone back due to another reason...
I noticed that there is a very vervy very tiny gap between the display and the unnibody...it feels a bit edgy when i swipe my finger about it.....it´t no big deal...i guess 90 percent of users would not recognize that.....i also needed some days to see it.
It´s really no big thing....but when i pay such a high price i don´t want any deficits.
This tiny gap is predestinated for dust.....and i hate dust in tiny gaps....it makes the phone look shabby.
Hope i´ll get my new phone soon...i´m very happy whith the HTC One X+
I repacked and prepared it for the reshipment....and I´m allready missing it that was 2 hours ago :silly::laugh:
OK, received the new phone and things are better with this one. Slightly uncentered but much better.
Despite this little fact, I think that even with the displaced lens the phone is great. I like it a lot.

I have read pretty much every post in this forum over the past few days, and have finally pulled the trigger on an Xperia Z ultra in black. MY HTC One was promptly sold on eBay to help fund the purchase. Really looking forward to getting it (especially as I have borrowed a friends iPhone 4s to use while I wait - such a tiny screen). Ordered it from Hong Kong from an eBay seller, really hoping I don't get hit with a massive import tax charge (I'm in the UK). I guess only time will tell. Will post my thoughts once it arrives. Hopefully my only concern re the purchase will be dispelled (will it fit in my trouser pocket).
Wellcome to the club, you won't regret it, just out of interest what the name of the company you ordered it from, wondering if it's the same as the one I used.

So hoping I wont get stung with massive import charges as Im already struggling to justify the purchase of the phone to the wife. Although my recently bought iPad mini might soften the blow if I give it to her.

I am close to doing the same and funnily enough I also have a HTC One but just waiting to see how much the LTE version costs and then will see if I can really justify it.
Cheers for all the help with the links guys, much appreciated. I really liked my HTC One, but I used the official hard case, and it scraped the phone. I am very anal about my tech, and loose interest if it gets marked at all.
Going to have a look at the screen protectors now, dont want the screen getting damaged.

Let me know how you get on with the charges mate, Id be very interested to find out.
I actually emailed the same company yesterday to see if they could mark the value down for customs purposes I've not had a reply though.
An update. The seller above agree to mark the price at 1/3rd of the value and mark as a gift to cut down on import charges. I still haven't bought it yet. Im trying to hold out for the C6833 LTE model.

My Xperia Z Ultra arrived this morning, two day shipping from Hong Kong to the UK, and no import charges, very happy teddy.
When the package arrived the box wasn't overly large, so was thinking the phone isn't that large, I opened the box, and boy its large, impressively so.
I work in computer forensics so am fairly techy, as are the guys I work with, but I initially I got a barrage of Dom Jolly Jokes. For those that don't know, he is a UK comedian: http://cdn2.business2community.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/dom-joly-phone.jpg
Anyway, back to the phone, and I have only had it for about two hours, so they are fairly initial impression. The phone is simply stunning, yes its large, yes Im going to probably going to struggle to get it to fit into some of my trouser pockets, yes I might look like an idiot taking a call until I buy a SBH52, but you know what, I don't care. The quality of the phone is simply stunning, screen has to be seen to be believed. Now I have had pretty much every flagship Android phone, even dabbled with an iPhone 5 for a bit, have a Retina iPad and a, typing this on a Mac Thunderbolt monitor, so I have seen many high quality screens; the Xperia Z Ultra screen, in my opinion surpasses them all. The level of detail has to be seen to be believed, and when holding it watching the Smurfs 2 trailer that came with the phone, the phone actually shudders when the volume is turned up, simply awesome, its like a built in sub woofer.
I updated the software to the latest version as soon as I switched it on, and the phone has been super quick, no lags, nothing at all.
The phone has a nice weight to it, not too heavy, but heavy enough to know that you are holding a quality piece of tech. I have had no issue with sim card installation (there is a little guide on the plastic on the back of the phone), and the cover pressed closed firmly. So far I have had no issues with screen tearing, or black screen as others have reported (I bought the black one).
I feel like I am starting to ramble a little, so I will stop here. Suffice to say that if you are on the fence, and are worried about the size like me, don't be, buy it, every other phone is now looking a little small.
I will try to answer any questions if anyone has any. Oh, and these are just my thoughts and opinions, I am not saying that they are right, and if you have a differing opinion, you are not wrong, these are simply my thoughts.

Like I said in my first impressions too, its the best screen I've seen on any mobile device. Period. Can't believe pocket now said it was 'mediocre'.... If this screen is mediocre then call me blind.
But yeah, it's funny... After I unboxed mine.. I thought the phone looked bigger than the box it arrived in haha. Optical illusion

What colour would you recommend getting? I'm torn between black and white.
Black - looks sleek and smooth and discrete. Concerned about fingerprints though
White - draws more attention probably, cant see finger prints but am worried about the white framing of the display at the front distracting from the screen.
Thoughts? Help me choose!

I went for black, I normally go for white in phones, but I personally think that as its such a big device the all blacks makes it all the sleeker. I have to e honest though, I nearly got it in white, but also felt that the white would appear larger. Probably a silly notion, but hey. Phone totally rocks.
Are the fingerprints on the black as bad as they make out on the video reviews and hands ons?

Yeah the black one is a fingerprint magnet but mainly on the back. The front display seems to be more resistant to oil etc.
I bought the white one because I liked the silver framing and I thought it gave the device a more defined look

I'll go with the black. I like white phones, but they have to be 100% white (including the front), or else i think it looks a little off. The black is classy and minimalistic, while the zebra version is more stylish i guess (depending on who you ask).

I woukd like to get a z3c but have seen numerous complaints that the screens and glass back panels on both the z3 and z3c are cracking for no apparant reason because the phones are too fragile.
Because of this I have started to consider the z5c. Can anyone confirm if the z5 series is also susceptible to the same issue or has the problem been addressed?
On another note, I cant say Im impressed with the amount of ads scattered all over the pages of this forum!
Thanks
Don't believe to everything. I mean, if i do something with my phone accidentally of corse i'll rant that it cracked by itself. And most of these rants were because of users did something. I had both z3c and now z5c and no sign of selfcracking of either glass, don't believe it'll crack just like that.

Then i don't really know, why mine didn't crack adn it even fell on concrete few times? Did i have bot Z3C and Z5C like a Superman edition or am i missing something???
Regarding the " people say it broke by itself", of course there are always those who say "I didn't done nothing" when they break something, but compared to the other glass-back phones like the iPhone 4/4S and Nexus 4 there are waaaay more "it broke itself" reports about the Z3C. So I find it doubtful those are just rants.
From what I understood the issue is not that "glass is fragile", but that the Z3C has a design error - the glass is under constant pressure by the frame. So if the glass has any natural faults in it it will eventually crack - without any external cause.
Considering I just ordered my Z5C I really hope Sony fixed that particular issue. In either case, I also ordered vinyl back for mine, party because the back is really slippery, partly because that way I most likely won't even notice if the back is cracked (I hope at least).
Still, overall I would be happier if Sony transferred the person who insists on glass backs for their phone somewhere else where he cannot do much damage - maybe to their Betamax division - and used a fully polycarbonate hull like they did with the Z4 Tablet. GLass backs are and always will be a stupid form before function design decision.
i had so many phones made from glass and had zero problem with it. Just take care of your **** and you should be fine.
Yes mines has cracked only week old
Staggered how it could have happened not dropped and WHY would I slam it down on any surface?! Call into Vodafone tomorrow first thing. Cracked over corner right across camera.

Why? Because of a simple thing called chance. Not all z3c phones spontaneously cracked. But a few of them did. You cannot control it. Nobody can. But it could still happen. Be glad it has not happened to you and be nice when someone says it happened to them, instead of not believing because it hasn't happened to you. It is as if you don't believe that someone can have a car crash because you have never had one.

This is the reason why I like thick phones :|
Between my wife and I, we've had a z1c, z3c and z5c. Haven't had any cracking problems with any of them.
This sort of happened to my sister. She had the phone for a while without problem. I was sat in the car with her and saw it fall about half a foot onto the plastic divider between the driver and passenger seat. This cracked the screen. Although it was dropped it's perplexing that it broke as that's not the kind of fall where you'd expect the screen to break. It's been repaired but it's still a bit of a minor mystery how it managed to break from such a minor fall. We were pretty shocked it was broken being such a minor fall as to not induce a sense or panic or expectation of breakage.
It's possible that it's been strained before or age has taken its toll such as temperature variations.
Mysterious screen breaks can definitely happen. Someone should create an app that keeps track of knocks, bumps, pressure, etc.

First: If you were read article you will knew that Samsung said it is manufacturing side effect so maybe it is not so obvious to return the unit. The defect is in the same place on all reported phones... Could be hard to get one without it as guy in twitter try 2 times and both have the same issue.
Second: If you were look inside the twitter comments you will see that it is not only uk but also in usa and other regions that are affected.
Third: 23u is my primary phone, so not so easy to just return it and stay without the phone as i also use esim. And more over i can get another unit with the same defect or even they will not accept it as they mention as it is side effect of manufacturing.
Right now it is not disturbing the use of the phone, but as i know it is there it is quite not comfy...
It's really irritating that people look for this nonsense that doesn't affect the functioning of the phone one iota and then share it around and ruin everyone else's enjoyment of their devices.
I can confirm that my US Ultra has this. Never would have seen it if it wasn't pointed out.

First - I read it, if you are not happy with the product, don't use it, simple. You still have 14 days to send it back if you are not happy, vote with your wallet.
Second - And? Not sure how big % of phones got that issue, but same as above applies, if people are not happy they should send units back. Maybe then samsung would acknowledge issue.
Third - No one force you to stay without phone, if you sold etc. your previous one or sent it back for trade in, then make a complain to Samsung.
And fourth, if you read my post with understanding you would get that I do not defend them. Sending back bad/wrong/broken etc product is our right, Samsung and S23 is not the only phone on the market, if you have issues with them, than feel free to buy something else.
I was angry with oneplus few years ago and guess what, I am on samsung now.

We should not talk about any issues regarding quality of expensive phone to not irritating ppl? Hmm m ok.

It's not just his... looks like a lamination issue.
Not something you should see on a flagship display.
Rather than owe up to it Samsung is making excuses saying it's normal. Translation: there must be a $hit load of them with this defect...

If that's what they say and your unit have it, vote with you wallet and send it back, there will be no change when people moan on this forum and Samsung keep their sales.

This is nothing but people hunting for reasons to dislike the phone. It has zero effect on functionality and you have to really be looking to even see it. It's a nothingburger discovery some iPhone fanboy found and put on Twitter to cause drama.

The problem is it's not supposed to be there at all. Not on my N10+'s. On a display that's not acceptable. It's a manufacturing defect and right where it's always in your face.
Worse, pretty sure Samsung was aware of this defect but they shipped them anyway. Like a brat they do what they want then make lame bs excuses for their actions. This isn't a injection molding tab Sammy, it's a screw up.
At this point there's no telling if over time it will get worse and/or spread. I'd return it for a cash refund especially at this price point, where the defect is and Samsung's condescending attitude.
but this is only visible with a strong light source, with certain angle of light with screen off. it has no impact on usability. i have seen it in the past on other curved displays

I upgraded to s23u with EE and i got it on 13th , 512gb ,green. Everything fine, until 3 days later when i installed a Samsung screen protector on,using a flashlight i was eyeballing for dust particles using a sticker. Right bottom corner i noticed a smudge, wiped off, still there, anyway upon close look ,in certain angle using the flashlight, i noticed this crease/bubble/dent around 4mm in width and 2mm height . To me it looks like a dent inwards rather than a bubble. Checked my pixel 7pro,nothing, checked my missus s21plus(flat screen),nothing, then i remembered i have stashed a galaxy s8(still works a take faster photos than s23u though) anything like this, screen was perfect.
Don't get me wrong, only in bright light ,shining directly on the screen you can see it. The touch screen works perfectly.
I contacted EE, the tech support said it looks like delamination or sort and could spread in time, right ,i said i do like the phone and i would like an exchange. EE delivered next day the replacement, as you guessed, same issue, this time half in size, almost not visible, but because i knew where and how to look ,i spotted it right away. Also very fine crease on the right, but almost not visible(unless you know what to look for).
Can i live with this ,yes i can,do i want to take a risk, thinking that potentially, ot could spread over thetime, hmm ,i don't. Opened a second return.
For ppl who said that this is not a big deal, remember, th ise damn phone is expensive and it should be perfect, like my previous s22ultra amd my 5 years old S8
I attached some photos 1,the first phone and 2
glad i am not that inquisitive otherwise i would still use nokia 3110
My S23 Ultra has it. Then I just realized after a year of using my S22 Ultra that this is the case as well... Guess it doesn't really matter.

I'm still having trouble seeing it in these pictures, even when it's directly pointed out, lol. I'm not gonna examine my phone. It looks generally fine and I'm gonna stick with it.

I think the issue is that most people wouldn't even notice if someone didn't point it out to them in special lighting. I think you should be able to discuss and point out anything you deem flawed. But on the other end you should also expect pushback from people who think you are just being spoiled when you have the option to return it. I have noticed it on my Galaxy S23 Ultra US version but only by looking at it in lighting. I think the device is fantastic and even with that little flaw I will keep my device since I can't really notice it since I have a case on it.

It's probably present on certain batches; some will have it, others not. A major QC screw up. If the defect was minor you wouldn't be able to see it at all.
This is a defect that could effect the survivability of the glass. Glass is subject to some of the laws of hydrodynamics. This deformity causes new stress points. It may not crack there but in another area of the display, hydrodynamics. Glass is a peculiar substance with bizarre properties. Of course if it breaks Samsung will say it's your fault for dropping it.
DON'T SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED
