I'm confused - what are the differences/advantages/disadvantages/progress/status of the two options of CM9 ROMs?
MunJeni
WinSuk
"official" CM9 (which I haven't really seen yet)
Maybe I'm the only one confused, but these two ROM developers seem to be working both together and separately.
Don't get me wrong - I'm thrilled that multiple people are working on an ICS ROM for the Aria. I just want to know what the differences are.
Thanks,
Dan
They use different kernels. as far as I know thats pretty much it. I'm running munjini's currently and it works great for the most part
80+% of munjeni's ROM came from mine, if that helps. Yet everyone is exploding over it
I think that the projects should be merged with the best parts in each one. You both do great work and it should be best for the community to combine efforts and avoid confusion and supporting two projects.

I tried but all my commit pushed to WinSuk github was reverted so I opened separated git using initial repo from WinSuk and started working separated... but builds between WinSuk and me is not drastically diferent, thing about 2 roms is good thing becouse we have 2 diferent tests and we are at finish abble to merge good things between 2 roms!
if you both be able to work together in the end that would be awesome and the best for the community.
Again, thanks for both of you on all the hard work you put into this.
Big thanks to you both. I have been running the Munjeni May 10 build for just a few days now but it is working great. I love how fast the GPS gets a lock (easily 20x faster than CM7.2).
what navigation software are you using. cause I'm still have trouble with getting a fast lock on some of them.

Stock Android Maps and Navigation. However, the first time it did say I was a full 2 states away. Letting it settle for a day seemed to do the trick.
I now it's not the latest or greatest, but could a kind dev please build a CM11 rom for our devices? CM12 isn't fleshed out enough for me and stock is annoying.
Would this be a big ask?
I am in vacation, can make a build next week if it's not to long for you
I'm in the same boat. I'm not sold on CM12. Or rather, Lollipop in general. The lack of functional xposed mods is what's really killing it for me right now.

**** forgot that, will try to make a build today
Looked into it -> my opinion is that it makes no sense, because cyanogenmod didn't adapt the sources for cm 11 and the cm 12 sources for cm 11 will be a bit tricky
Is it undoable?
Not undo able but it makes no sense
well, go ahead and take your time. I'm definitely excited and thankful, though.
I don't suppose anyone's considered building liquidsmooth on the z3 tablet compact?

Would it still be possible to build CM11? I share the same sentiments regarding CM12... the lack of video playback being the deal-killer.

guys...read post #5 and #7
let me rephrase this for you: "too much work; not gonna happen; be patient and wait for CM12 to improve"
I've made a request thread on the CM boards:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/106183-requestxperia-z3-tablet-compact-lte-sgp621/
I commented on the post. Anyone else willing to run cm11 please request it in the thread.
And bump

Once we have Base... Ports are next.
Fingers crossed. Waiting patiently.
Bumping this as we are more then half way there.
I'm excited for a CM base, I don't know about the rest of you...
Even though everyone is excited for a cm based rom, we have too keep in mind that this phone is amazing because of its camera and I'm pretty sure in order to run those features it'll require alot of lg files so in the end , most of us will most likely adhere to stock than cm , at least IMO

Yep, and in addition to that there's also the HiFi DAC/Amp and the secondary screen. With such specialized hardware I feel like a debloated stock-based ROM is probably gonna always be the best bet, though of course more development and more options are never a bad thing
Working CM 12 is posted in the development section. Flash away.

hello mates,
i am a big fan of aospa aka paranoid android roms,
so sad that it isnt available for kiwi yet,
i dont know y, is there some limitations with our device? or if the devs havent tried it yet??
though im not bad at coding, i have zero experience on building roms, i dont even know how to..
if not, iam requesting any dev to make a port or please build one for our device, it will be the best..:good::fingers-crossed:

I understand the question as to why it hasn't been done yet, but requesting that somebody else takes on the task of building it just because YOU want it done but dont want to learn how to port it is quite unnecessary. I hope I'm not sounding like a dck telling you this. Not my intention.

i just heard devs saying its not any easy task to build one, because theres some complexity,
so i thought may be by creating this thread, devs will discuss the problems and they can come up with the build together...

Hi mates,
I tried to work on AOSPA & Screw'd AOSP, Both are awesome IMO. But sadly they are purely based on AOSP, & for AOSP, source does lack some parts such as framework_av & such & pretty weird vendor tree formatting As my master @yuweng warned me & bro @gopinaidu77 shared his experiences of his trials, I found it tricky even only looking at the sources
Thus I'll be kinda dropping them for now, leave them as side projects on which I hope I will keep tinkering ( & bothering master yuweng & bro gopi when i'm stuck ) whenever I get time.
In the mean time, I'm taking little break, My job is giving me a hard time & semester finals will be ongoing from tomorrow, :crying:
I hope cm14.1 comes within January :fingers-crossed:
So we can work on more sweet treats
p.s. pray for me mates, I suck at marketing related subjects :crying:

Bro if someone was interested in maintainig/building rom for 5x without coding knowledge, where do you suggest should one start?? and what do you think are the basic requirements at the beginner level??? I know it is unrelated to title of the thread but as brother @thilak devraj suggested his intention was to get the AOSPA project discussed, and i am a fellow enthusiast and want to start somewhere in exploring this project and enriching myself with the knowledge, because as far as i understand, you have helped @mumith3 with his projects, which are rock solid and super smooth, so can you point me in the correct direction, if its not too much trouble??

Mate,
First clear your conceptions of build environment, manifests & use of gits. You'll find plenty explanations in google & xda uni.
then start with setting up build machine( I'll suggest a decent config with bbqlinux installed)
then start with building CM as there is a official step by step guide in CM website for kiwi AKA Honor 5X.
when you're familiar with all... move to other roms.
we'll be always glad to help
happy learning!

I am at xda university at present and man these guys are thorough!! They have made it extremely simple even for a beginner like me, i know it's a tough ask but i do want to learn in the most sincerest way possible, hope everything goes according to plan, and even if it doesn't, i believe in the community and help it extends to supernoobs like myself, let's see where it takes me.:fingers-crossed:
well you can be able to make AOSPA on nougat now most probably. Because Alex and other developers has stopped working on Marshmallow. So the team can help in get away with the building errors. But since we are still now marshmallow they won't going to help. or Maybe they will. Can't say. At paranoid things these moves slowly moving to nougat. Well since none of the member has device in team. So we are not officially supported. The biggest reason why HONOR 5x never make it to other developers because of Kenzo was launched by Xiaomi. Far better in specifications. But we are still hopeful. Exodus will halting development too for a while. Issues with developers. The last Vanir is also has issues. Maintaining so many devices is a heck of trouble for few developers. Since Vanir is based on CM so we are far away from them.
Pure Code Aurora Caf was never possible until some developer with coding skills come. You need to code and make everything from scratch. In that case things will not coming from even CM. You have device specific device trees. It is huge pain in ass. Now as Paranoid is going to pure AOSP if i remember right. They going to use few things like cm device trees just. Else like exodus paranoid is known for writing their own apps and stuff...

I'm really digging the dev community here. Shouts out to crpalmer jsbeyond gopi mumith and everybody else im forgetting. And just remember, be always grateful for their work. We could have ended up with no development if we chose a different phone. For example my last phone the HTC desire 626s. Go find the desire 626 forum on XDA to see what I mean. Development just doesn't always happen. Which is why when I see somebody request certain ROMs it irks me a little
yes , i feel lucky to have those devs, but im sad we alredy lost many of them..

Well, basically i do just need someone who Maintains a Thread with Me and My Team Mate here. I want to have someone who owns the Device to get advanced Reports and to have someone who Quotes Me on the Thread if Problems appear (Can be Device Specific).
If anyone is interested enough i will start a Thread which the Maintainer gets invited to. So let's Go! :highfive:
This definitely looks interesting, I'd love to see it take off!

But Yes, it should work on Stock. BUT YOu need to add Init.d Support if YOu want to use the given Scripts like Battery Calibration and Play Services battery drain Fix.
Another thing are the GApps. The LIGHT PATCH comes with Optimized GApps for 7.1. If You are on 7.1 YOu're good to go. If not, You should pre download a GApp Pack for Your Android Version to install it after the Patch. That should be all. And like always, do clean flashs! lol

I'm still playing around with some things. Ended up doing a complete clean flash of RR, Magisk 13, and this again this morning, so I haven't had too much time to just dive into everything just yet. Just tested sound over speakers though, and it sounds great. Still gotta see how battery fares.
If you opt to let the patch install Gapps, they're very minimal, and you'll end up installing most of them from the Play Store, but that gives you the option to keep whichever ones you want. There are also a ton of lib files, and some add-ons from Sony and HTC that are worth checking out. Will give a more detailed post after I've had more time to mess around.
I'm interested too.
A list with some information of the benefits would still be good.

Glad to hear it runs! Well, there are hundreds of Features and goodies in this Baby. I'm working on Android since almost 7 Years and the Patch is the Product of enhancing custom ROMs to something more than that. Calling it a Mod is like calling a Operation on a Brain slaughtering lol
I will try to explain it a bit.
The Light Patch is the 3rd Version of My Patch System. The Multi Device Support is caused by excluding the Device specific Firmware from the customization which i usually would do with a ROM. The advantages of that are independent OS updates, Multi Device Support, Features which You can't get with AOSP, and it is better to develop than usual Mods or ROMs.
We have planned to create a own AOSP OS and some Apps in the Future which will include the advanced research behind the Patch and everything what i do. It is really hard for Me to describe all that. But i'm going to enhance My Project together with a new Partner and the Light Patch is the first Step on that Way. There will come for sure more Infos, Videos and all possible Things over the Time. And don't run away cause of my English! My Partner speaks a lot better English than Me, so the overall Quality will come over the Time. I'll let him do all the Social stuff here so i can focus on the development (finally). The Main Team is growing and our Maintainers will also get a place in our Org. We will soon have a own Domain with G Suite Service and everything looks bright for our Project.
I hope that wasn't to much bad English for One Post  Just take a look on My very long Changelog and try the Patch. You will not regret it, it is 100% stable if You follow the given Instructions

I decided to try it out of curiosity, pretty much because I flash a lot, and try to stay open to new things. I'm a tinkerer, and I guess that's just part of my fidgety nature. Lol. But, as there's no official maintainer or posts in the development section for our device yet, and English isn't the developers first language, it seems that either flashing or waiting for response from people that have are the best way to get information for now. But if you download the zip and browse through it, there are a lot of things there that should theoretically add to the user experience.
