[Q] 5.1 and Microsoft Exchange services - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I was wondering what options are there in AOSP 5.1 roms to have my Microsoft Exchange email account up 'n' running? I tried adding the latest Microsoft exchange services app, my account seems to be set up through Gmail app but in reality, no emails show up in any folder and whenever I manually synchronize there's an exchange services force close error... Do I need the old email app? And if so, do I also need the separate services app?
Thanks

I just installed com.google.android.gm.exchange-6.5-1729047-500065-minAPI19.apk and com.google.android.gm-5.1.89745174-51001549-minAPI14.apk from the Apkmirror. It works for me (Exchange 2010).

The first file you mention is the exact same file I installed as well. Not the second one though, could that be the reason it's FCing?

I had the same Problem with the previous gmail version now it disappeared. Google updated the gmail version in the play store yesterday. I think you can use that version also. It should be the same.

I installed the MS exchange services file but the problem seems to be with the gmail app. For some reason, I am running com.google.android.gm 5.0.1 1642443, doesn't sound right for a 5.1 rom does it?

Your version is the one from play store. My version is 5.1.89745174 from apkmirror try this one.

Exchange Services 6.5-1729047 mail sync overheating phone
My phone is overheating with the update to Exchange Services update (6.5-1729047) which I downloaded from APKMIRROR. I am also using Gmail 5.1.89745174 . I'm running CM12 nightly.
Exchange Services is taking upwards of 16% of battery. Had to disable mail sync to cool it down. Calendar and contacts seem to be working ok, but had to revert to Aquamail for email.
Anyone with similar experiences?

Cannot create additional accounts on S6 Edge

I have just received my S6 edge. No scratches. Everything running uber smooth.
I launched the phone, linked it to my main google account. All apps and data synced.
But now, I am not able to add another google, nor email account.
When I try this and fill in my credentials of the to be added account, the phone mentions that 'email has stopped working' or 'google services have stopped working'.
I have installed the latest updates;
Rebooted the phone;
Tried via the email app as well to add accounts.
Any suggestions what might solve this?
Got it to work by resetting the phone and not including google stuff to the apps that were transferred from my old phone.
Thanks.

Weird isssue with play services and email accounts.

So far I have tried multiple roms and multiple Gapps packages and have wiped a few times. I am running a CM12.1 nightly with euroskank's gapps. I am currently not able to setup email accounts (besides google), imgur account. Microsoft accounts, or any app that would use a webpage to login. Every time I try to setup an account on most apps, the app or google play services would crash. I have also tried updating the rom to the latest nightly with no luck. I am close to going back to stock. Is there anyway to fix this? Is there some component to Android that is messed up for me?
Also here is a few screenshots of an error I got

Gmail App deleting Exchange accounts

I am using a SM-925I. On Australian Telstra network.
I have been using the Gmail App for my email. Originally there was no option to setup MS Exchange accounts, so i had to install the Exchange Services 6.5-1729047
By Google Inc APK file.
Ever since doing an OTA upgrade to 5.1.1, Gmail has been dropping both my Exchange accounts and i have to Add them again. This is most annoying.
It may also have something to do with 360 Security App that i have always been using which optimises the battery and memory of Android OS.
Can anyone tell me why Gmail App is dropping the Exchange accounts??
Also got the same problem on my new S6 edge. Anyone find a solution to this?
I have tried factory reset.
And have tried deleting app cache.
Exchange accounts still disappear and need to be readded every 5 or hours.
Anybody able to comment?
I really want to use Gmail App for my Exchange based corporate email.
Ever since updating to 5.1.1 the Exchange accounts disappear after a few hours and need to be readded.
Trying APK Google Exchange Services for Google M Preview 3.
Will report back tomorrow.
Same thing happening to me:
Galaxy S6 on Android 5.1.1 (kernel version 3.10.61-5012324)
Gmail version 5.5.101116392
Exchange Services version 6.5-1791555
Have tried Exchange Services 5.0.100419619 (From M Preview 3) and this also deleted my Exchange Accounts after a few hours.
This is a major problem.
Are you guys rooted or have knox tripped? Deletes it for me too so trying to narrow it down on what may be causing it.
Guys, 'just want to report that the same thing is happening on Note 4 since upgrading to Samsung 5.1.1 rom, so guessing it's something with this manufacturer's customizations?
There seem to be some people also suffering in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/exchange-account-disappears-frequently-t3176427
As to evonc's question: I'm not rooted, nothing special done.
I'm not rooted either.
I am using 360 Security which clears my phone memory and preserves battery life. But have told it to ignore gmail and Google exchange services.
Sorry for the necro and cross-device post, but I'm on an S5 with XtreStoLite Unofficial 2.3 (5.0.2) and having the same issues. Exchange Services 6.5 and 5.0 from M both result in the death of my exchange account every so often.
1) Why is Exchange Services called 5.0 from M; is it an older version?
2) Any ideas on why this is happening? Maybe SeLinux?

Email not pushing since Android 5.1.1

hi all my email (all types of accounts) do not push through until I open and manually refresh. I have tried with k9 mail and stock mail and also gmail and other but same result.
I have read disabling google play services and reenabling/updating fixes it but with 5.1.1 there is no way of disabling google play services.
I'm on the verge of sending back my new Huawei Mate S because of this problem . Any advice much appreciated.

Google calendar and contacts not working

Hi guys!
I recently bought the mi pad 4 and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I downloaded the Google play store installer from xiaomi's webpage and so I got the play store up and running.
However the calendar and contacts app by Google don't seem to connect to my Google account. Contacts stays empty (only showing the few contacts that use telegram) and the calendar app shows a placeholder account, look at the attached image.
I would really like to also use those two apps on my tablet and would love if someone could help me.
Thanks in advanceĀ”
Best wishes

i was facing the same problem, here was how i solved it:
Give all permission, or at lease the permission to modify your contact, to Google Account Manager, Google contact sync and the Google contact app.
Allow these app to started by other apps, in the startup settings.
Also I tried to install google contact sync version 9 but it doesn't work, i downgrade to 8 and contact appear in the google sync option.
As for the calendar issue, try login within the calendar app.
Try to install Google Calendar and Phone apps and they will ask for activating the calendar and contact sync. Of course you need to say "yes".
The above method works for me.
didn't get the prompt to grant certain permissions for those apps, but finally I've managed. Alot of permissions had to be granted manually to both contacts and calendar app and google services.
thanks for the help, guys!
work for me

I was able to make Calendar work using this method but I can't fix Contacts using this method. I wonder if I use xiaomi.eu ROM, will it fix contacts and calendar problems?
