As you guys know,5.0.2 has a lot of bugs and in order to squash them Samsung needs to update their galaxy line to 5.1. Judging by the previous roll outs from Samsung, it doesn't seem like we'll be seeing 5.1 soon. Any thougts?

Hopefully Samsung skips 5.1 and updates to a newer build. I have 5.1 on my N5 & there are still some issues, such as WiFi battery drain & memory leak.

The SickleSoftware team is pleased to present you with SickleRom.
This rom is based off of cyanogenmod for ease of porting to new devices. Its also based on 4.1.2 for that same reason. Something different about our rom however is we are taking the few good features from 4.2.1 and putting them into 4.1.2 so that even more devices can use them. We as a team, also don't agree with the way google took their new flavour of jellybean. So we hope you agree with ours, thank you for giving our rom a chance.
Change log:

Source code:

Download:
http://goo.im/devs/SickleSoftware/SickleROM-ALPHA/grouper/SickleROM-ALPHA-V1.0.0.zip
NOTE this rom is still in beta and alpha stages per device we currently plan on adding a lot more features and reworking the way the rom functions and looks. All features by us or cm will also be toggleable. Consider this alpha release preview nightly
If you would like to be a beta tester PM me with a request to get access to our beta forums
Since it is based on 4.1.2, will it act correctly with the 4.13 bootloader?

I have done 4.2.1 update with the images provided by Google and flashed the rom on the new boot loader and it works fine. But when flashing remember the 4.2 google apps are NOT compatible

Good effort for 'old' devices

There was an issue with goo.im their staff has fixed it. We are going to use goo as our main and use Androidfilehost as our mirrors!

Hi does this ROM have multiuser from 4.2 with new directory structure?
Hoping not as interested in latest 4.1.2 until directory bind and CFS fixed in 4.2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
Nope it does not. Were working on doing 4.1.2 and 4.2.1 as both active development

Excellent I'll prob try this out later cheers
Edit: tried to install few times got black screen every time. Is there a boot video or is it suppose to be black. Left it for ten mins and nothing. I'll keep an eye out on this though as I want most uptodate 4.1.2 for directory bind. Thanks anyway

Should work fine. Try a newer build in the alpha folder. Loaded with school so can't get on the laptop for new link

Hi again yeah I tried the ss-official ROM that worked fine. Nice work. Was the alpha one that didn't work for me but might of been corrupt? Wasn't too.I'm playing up yesterday
Re: [ROM][GROUPER] SickleRom 4.1.2[ROM][GROUPER] SickleRom 4.1.2
It could of been corruption or bad egl. This weekend we are trying to get ota for the ROM.

Has there been any word at all yet on when the Verizon version will get the 4.3 update? I've only seen posts relating to the GPE version.
Thanks

I am wondering the same thing.

I have not heard anything
Awhile after Samsung molests the source with touchwiz stuff. As should be expected.
2 weeks after July 4th...next year
About a week after Google released 4.3 we got CyanogenMod 10.2 (which is 4.3) for the s4 (thanks to our developers).
That was almost as fast as the nexus devices getting the update.
However, CyanogenMod does not have all the Samsung touchwiz features.

No, and the TW 4.3 versions will come some time after the international S4 is upgraded.
JB4.3, estimate 4-6 months from now. What we should really be asking is KLP 5.0 in 4-6 months instead. I have no expectation that Verizon or Samsung will update the GS4 beyond 5.0, and we will be lucky to get 5.0 at all.

I think only a handful of non-Nexus devices have received more than one generation update. Thunderbolt went from froyo to ics. I think the Bionic went from gb to jb. Any others that got more than one generation update?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
The update from 4.2.2 JB to 4.3 JB is so minor that either Samsung will skip it entirely and go to KLP 5.0 or we will see both upgrades. I know I took and take a very negative view of Verizon when it comes to updates and other related issues, but we should not dismiss all hope.

Samsung is skipping 4.2 for note2 and s3 so I think they will update everything to 4.3... after note3 comes out ofc
When do you guys think we can expect either of these updates? In see a lot of other handsets getting the 4.3 update now.
When will Sony act?

That was exactly my thought when I was going to change device.
I thought about it for a second and then I got the ZU instead.
Reasons for my choice?
-old processor
-no sd slot
-extreme fragility
-LG
-no LTE
-no USB OTG
And others that do not come to mind right now.
I agree, it's cool to have the latest OS, but going through several devices I came to the conclusion that it's better to have a .1 revision less but more stability instead of the latest rushed just to have it.
If I feel the need to have more I always have custom ROMs.
And hey, my wife's Z had 4.1.2 when she got it, and a few months later it was updated to 4.2.2, so I'm not feeling "left out" by Sony in terms of updates.

Feel the same too, Sony seems to keep they devices up to date very well, but I can understand they do not want to make so many different updates. 4.3 and 4.4 come far too close for give want to company to update all the time.

I guess if you have to have the latest OS you just need to install a custom Rom..
I've surprised myself this time though.. I've just stayed at the stock rom with Xposed etc installed.
I could never have done that with my old Samsung device, but the Sony experience is much closer to stock.
same problem...still waiting for Sony to update...others have made it already..but dnt know for what Sony is waiting.....

Jeez, I'm used to Samsung update cycle which was pretty slow. November would be pretty good in my opinion for an update. I'm a fan of Sony launcher so far, as other people have said it's very close to stock which suits me well.

I wouldn't mind skipping from 4.2 to 4.4 since 4.3 doesn't really have a whole lot of features that I'm interested in. I'm getting a Nexus 5 as my main device anyways though, so the Ultra will be more for music and comics.
I'm running 4.3 now... obviously CM10.2...
But that latest update coming 4.3.1 is only 10mb... stated as... "stability and improvement fixes"
I think we need to get out of the mindset that an 'update' is actually going to make our life better. Sometimes the update is more of a parallel move, and not a linea increase...

Right, and first of all I would like they fix this SOD issue and the mess with adapt to lighting and optimized backlight. No need to hurry updates, want something rock stable. Unfortunately I really need the leds, so I can't jump on CM or OSPA.

So the PA team came out with 4.4 for their officially supported devices (Nexus's). Will that 4.4 build be treated like any other regular PA update and roll out to all the other supported devices that got the port just like usual?
No will take a ton of effort to get that for us. Do not expect it to be fast or you're crazy.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Pretty sure PA said they were dropping support for pretty much everything but nexus devices as well.

You will not get an official Samsung ROM as the S II has been EOL'd. You may however get 3rd party ROM's like CyanogenMod, though frankly its far too early to tell as android L is currently only in preview release.
