Goomanager app flashed a wrong recovery to the phone, now it won't boot but is stuck at the black "Samsung GALAXY Txt" Boot screen. does anybody know how to fix this? i wouldn't mind having to hard reset it. I tried flashing new recovery using adb/fastboot but adb doesn't "see" the device. thanks if you answer!:good:

I'd try using Odin to flash the stock firmware for your phone (Can be found on Samfirmware).

Unable to enter Download Mode
I flashed a wrong ROM as well, but my problem is that I can't enter Download Mode to re-flash the device with Odin.
Any idea?
Thanks

Are you able to get into recovery mode still? For download mode make sure your holding down the correct key combination to get into download mode. You can also try using a USB Download jig which you can get from here, which when plugged into the phone will force the phone into download mode. As a fair warning the download jig's don't usually work with newer model phones but for a couple bucks it's worth a try. Let me know if you still have questions.
Motherboard dead?
Sorry to invade this post. I would just like to have confirmation on my device and it's pretty similar to what is found here. The only way I can access download mode is by pressing Q+Power and then adding the battery. Odin connects to everything, I can even flash the firmware from Bell for my Galaxy gt-i5510M and it PASS. But I can't still power it up, is the motherboard or something similar dead?
Thanks

If your device can still access download mode and Odin can successfully connect to your device an flash the firmware your device's motherboard is not dead. Try re-flashing the firmware to your device and checking auto-reboot option in Odin this way when the firmware finishes flashing the device will automatically reboot and hopefully power on then.
Thanks for the fast answer, you've been answering 3 people back on this thread, impressive.
Unfortunately I made sure of that, the auto reboot was checked but it doesn't reboot the device. I wanted to put a screenshot but I didn't realize you need around 10 posts to be able to post outside links. I've been looking through xda for a while but never posting.
I'm used to adb, so Odin is a bit new I have to admit. I've put the ops file, callisto in this case, in the appropriate ops , and then the One Package file I got from samfirmware "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC". Is there something else I could flash? It wouldn't be like some other phones where I could put down a Custom Recovery, go back to stock, etc. ?

To clarify did you put the firmware in the correct slot in Odin (PDA slot in this case) when flashing? Also double check your flashing the correct firmware for your device, as that could also be part of the problem.
Well you figured some things that were wrong. I was putting it in the one package slot. So I tried in the PDA slot, but it said "Invalid Image Type". From the sticker inside the battery compartment, it does say it's the GT-I5510M, so the 551 from Bell Canada it seems. But it's not easy to find a firmware for it, and the only one I found is at sammobile. There's plenty others under GT-I5510, but they're all European.
Any idea what I could use instead? The full name of the firmware I have is: "I5510UGKC5_BMCKC5_HOMEDOWNLOAD_TEST.tar" or "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC.zip" for the zip.
Thanks a lot for following this.

You can try ignoring the "Invalid Image Type" error and trying to flash anyway just don't unplug your phone from Odin until it fully completes the process.

I did, but didn't work, I should have mentioned that. So the screen is still blank. But another driver got recognized and installed once the firmware was installed, Samsung com 3 if I remember well. I was hoping when I saw that!

With the new COM port being recognized try the procedure again and see if it has any different results.
sorry to interrupt you people.. but are you sure that it is a proper firmware file. because the pda file is .tar file. also, try entering the recovery mode and flashing a cwm recovery. then check if the system is mounted.
Sorry I've been away, meaning no phone and laptop with me. Thanks for the replies. I tried to flash again the firmware last week but nothing happened unfortunately.

I can't access recovery mode, only download mode by simultaneously putting the battery back in and pushing Q+Power. But I am wondering also if it could be a wrong firmware... Can I just flash a custom rom through Odin? Would that make up for it? Anything to having back in working order.

So my S3 went into a boot loop. And I dont know how I got to this point but now the phone wont even boot, when plugged in to my comp it shows the battery symbol but its greyed out with the circle in the middle, and it stays like that. If i hold the power putton it comes up with the Galaxy SIII GT i9300 screen but then goes back to the battery. I can get it to go into download mode though. I think somehow I may have deleted all the files required for the phone to actually boot(Im a n00b so im not completely sure) Can somebody please help me?
I was on custom ROM before and my binary counter is at 4, so sending into samsung doesn't sound like a great idea :/
Thanks for the help and sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched for hours.

If you also can go into recovery, try to wipe. In addition did you flash any custom kernel?
If not, try to reflash a rom with odin after you got into download mode or did you try this already?

If you mean with CWM mod, no I cant, it just shows the Galaxy S3 GT i9300 screen then goes black. Yes i did have a custom kernel, I believe it was the latest Perseus one. I already tried this with a stock rom and it idnt work, it said it had passed but i still can boot the phone.

as you can go into download mode but not recovery, what about flashing CWM another time (if you did not try it already). Maybe it solves the issue with recovery and from there you could go on trying to wipe etc.
Other options would be to do a mega or super wipe (if this is possible from odin & download mode, not sure though), to get your phone completely empty (mega) or at least to factory reset (super).

The thing is there is nothing wrong with my phone in terms of hardware. The problem that I am having is purely software, I think I just need to restore my phone to a previous version. I did see that thread but didnt feel my post belonged there as my problem is nothing to do with broken battery or mobo or anything along those lines. Hence why I am posting here
Just factory reset via recovery then flash a stock rom via Odin .
No recovery flash CF root via Odin .

I did install a stock ROM and it was still stuck on bootloop, left it like that for an hour, still nothing. So I went into CWM (after flashing it) Wiped and factory reset (noticing it said error mounting /data but ignored) and then restored with a backup I had. it did say error mounting /data and so skipped that step. Still stuck in boot loop. now that I try wiping again the same error occurs, error mounting /data any ideas please?

Ok, so I have recently rooted my Galaxy S3 and I wanted to install cyanogenmod. I used ROM manager to do so.
The problem is that as soon as I installed it, my phone supposedly rebooted but it never started up again!
Now all I get is a flashing "menu" and "back". I can't boot normally, or in download mode, or in odin mode.
I have nothing any more and I don't know what to do, I'm really starting to panic here.
Can anybody please help please?!

Thing is... if you can't get into recovery and you can't get into download mode and you can't boot into a rom, I think you have a paper weight no matter the device.
what did you mean by "flashing menu and back"? take a picture and post it.

I'm guessing he used rom manager to install cwm. installing recoveries can affect boot partitions.

you can screw up the hardware drivers by flashing the wrong kernel which in turn can impact download mode. we see it all the time in the epic touch forums because people think that the s2 and the e4gt variants are interchangeable. so yes. you can software brick by flashing rom/kernel/recovery.

Hey guys,
I don't know what happened but I was trying to update my phone (GT-I9300) using Odin v3.07 and I'm getting stuck at NAND Write Start.
Also, I'm unable to boot into recovery mode.
Also, When I try to reboot my phone normally, I end up in downloading mode but without the counter and all those stats which are written in top left corner. Just plain simple downloading mode. I don't know what to do. Please help me out ASAP as my battery will die otherwise.
P.S. Phone's not charging!!! :'(

You were the one asking about hardbrick and now it seems you could have suffered one. What a fu**ed up coinsidence. Although for now it looks like a Soft-Brick
Ok first , how many % did your battery have when you started flashing?
Second, what Firmware did you flash and where did you get it (link would be good)?
The flashing counter looks good except the the System Status. It states custom which indicates that you changed the Firmware in some way which could void warranty but not always, depends on the carrier and the Service Center.

1) Around 50% but the amount of battery left is much much less than that. I can feel it.
2) XXDLJ4 from Sammobile. I can't find the link. But it was official firmware from UK.
I live in India. We don't have carrier specific phones yet. But I have no idea what service centre guys are going to say. I'm just gonna tell him that I was updating using kies and this happened.

XXDLJ4 is outdated and is from 2012. From what Google says it`s Android 4.1.1 . There are newer Firmwares around. The newest Firmware to my knowledge is XXEMC3. However it doesn`t matter what the Firmware is, it should work even if the Firmware is old. Do you still have the log from Odin? It would be good to see where Odin failed exactly. A screenshot would be great.

Ok a friend of mine had the same issue one time with his I9000 and it helped to switch the USB Ports and then try to flash the firmware again. Also turn off every process that belongs to Kies. Go to Task manager and Kill every Kies process.
Also try to use Odin 1.85, I`ve seen people having problems with Odin 3.xx before

Nope I don`t think it`s charging. That`s why almost every flashing guide says that you should have a fully charged battery before you flash a ROM to your device.
Edit: Ok this is weird. I would try a different Firmware.

Yeah I know that. But this thing has never ever happened to me. So I guess I was over-confident!
Turn your phone off so the battery won`t die. Then download the latest Firmware and flash it the same way you did before. This is the only thing that you could do to my knowledge.
Do you have a Custom ROM on your phones internal or external SD? If yes you could follow up on BHARGAV33`s tip to flash CWM Recovery through Odin and then try to access Recovery and afterwards wipe data and flash a new ROM.

Nope I don`t think it`s charging. That`s why almost every flashing guide says that you should have a fully charged battery before you flash a ROM to your device.
Edit: Ok this is weird. I would try a different Firmware.

I've tried all the firmwares which I have! Android 4.0.4, 4.1.1, 4.1.2, everything!
No change in result!
Its bricked...hard bricked...send it off if you have warranty...it happened to me.

"NAND Erase All" is worth trying?

Turn your phone off so the battery won`t die. Then download the latest Firmware and flash it the same way you did before. This is the only thing that you could do to my knowledge.
Do you have a Custom ROM on your phones internal or external SD? If yes you could follow up on BHARGAV33`s tip to flash CWM Recovery through Odin and then try to access Recovery and afterwards wipe data and flash a new ROM.

Doing that only for the some past hours. No, I'm unable to get into recovery in the way he said. I've already tried it. I searched around on forum & some people were able to tackle their issue by flashing a complete firmware with 3 files. I download the whole firmware which had 3 files but still no luck. I'm going crazy over here, should I just give my phone to Samsung Care and let them deal with it? Or is there anything left to try?
And BTW, I gotta ask, what exactly happens if someone ticks "NAND Erase All" in odin when flashing a firmware. I've not done this because according to me, it's not advisable to play with things which you don't know about.
1) So, what does "NAND Erase All" in odin do exactly?
2) Will it somehow be helpful in my situation?
3) Also, some people on XDA say that NAND Erase All hard bricks your phone & warranty is also void. Is this true?

How??? If i go to download mode start the upgrade but the phone at 100% rebooted and he doesn't power on
All I asked is if you can. I dont even understand your response. You do volume up instead of down when booting to recovery.

OK, well it appears you have been using kies. At this point you need to download Odin and flash a full factory image from samsung-updates.com

You need to do a search for that. I'm not going to retype what many guides have been made for. You may find a better guide in the Samsung galaxy S4 forums. You will need the drivers and Odin provided on one of those guide threads, plus the newest 4.4.2 factory image for your region.

Okay i see what you mean..when you go into recovery or download mode your phone tries to update automatically by itself..hmm..i will have to look in to this further as i have no solution at this time for this problem..i never had this happen to me on any of the samsung phones i owned..but i will take a look into it.

Thanks, i wold be grateful because i don't know how to proceed...if you do the procedure to unbrick the samsung (but i think that isn't a good idea because the bootloader isn't compromised) or of trying to find the right moment with odin to recognize the phone
If you truly can't get into download mode at all, you may need a jig to force it
You can try this search:
https://www.google.com/search?q=usb...amsung&sourceid=chrome-mobile&espv=1&ie=UTF-8
But if its forcing update mode then the jog may just do the same thing...never heard of not being able to get to download mode due to the system attempting to continue to run update

Thats not what is being said. If your screen is not OEM there will be a problem with the system update.

If like you said the lcd screen has been replaced and if the screen is not a original samsung screen (OEM) then this could be the problem as the other members have mentioned..as the new kitkat update came out it does not support thrid party drivers for the lcd screen anymore..only original drivers signed by samsung are being used now and any lcd screen that is not original will not work anymore..until a solution is found to fix this.
Were did you buy your screen from..which seller.?
