AT&T Users - Samsung Gear S

Anyone get their call forwarding to work? If so what did you do.

I keep getting this same error: Failed to forward incoming call from your mobile device to your Gear. Tap OK to try again.

I got that too from time to time. But that is because my phone has a poor reception at home. Gear S need to ask your phone to setup the forwarding via special dialer code. If your phone can't get signal for dialing code, it will fail even though it may be connected to Internet via wifi.

Yea I think I'm screwed. At least I know it is possible on AT&T tho.

FIXED IT!
I was able to get this issue fixed. This was bugging me for a month. Here are the steps I took to resolve this issue.
Uninstalled Gear Manager from the Note 4.
When I reinstalled Gear Manager it forced me to do a factory reset on the Gear S. This did not fix the issue however.
Did a factory reset on both the phone and the Gear S. This also did not fix the issue.
Got a new sim card for the Gear S. This did not fix the issue.
Got a new nano sim card for the Note 4. The Note 4 takes a micro sim but I had an adapter I bought off Amazon that takes a nano sim and makes it fit into micro slots. This also did not fix the issue.
Upgraded to Lollipop. This did not fix the issue.
Finally I found this thread.

Someone said it was the settings on my account. I called AT&T on my Gear S number and pressed some buttons till I got their Technical Support team. I somehow got transferred to their Advanced Technical Support team right away. I talked to a guy named Robert. He was super helpful and listened as I told him what my issue was. I didn't even mention the Gear S call forwarding problem as that confuses a lot of reps. I just told him that I couldn't access the call forwarding setting in my Android Note 4 because I was getting a sim card or network error. Which I was. I told him to check deep in my account setting as I researched this online and it appears to be an account settings issue. He worked on his end and told me to turn my phone off. Then he told me to turn it back on. I did and went into the settings and did not get the error message. I was soooo happy. I thanked Robert and told him I was just going to mess with the settings a bit more and I didn't want to keep him. He said thank you for being a valued customer and we hung up.
My real reason for going thru this was to get the call forwarding set up between my Gear S and my Note 4. I made a sign of the cross and kissed the feet of my Roman statue before trying to initiate the call forwarding through a remote connection between my Gear S and Note 4. This time it worked.
So in my opinion it appears to be an account settings issue because it works for me now.

The Problem Came Back Again
Ok so the problem came back again. AT&T said that it is a known issue where you can't set up your device for call forwarding. To fix it, all you have to do is call AT&T and they reregister your device to the network. Then, you turn your phone off and on again and everything works.

All i did was downgrade back to kitkat then tried call forwarding and it worked perfect then let the note 4 re update to lollipop and call forwarding still works and has ever since no more sim or network error this was the only way i found to fix it cause AT&T couldn't tell me why it wouldn't work.

You know I think you're right. Because in my case I took my Note 4 to the Samsung Experience in Best Buy and they flashed lollipop thinking that would fix it but it didn't. I had to call AT&T support each time it didn't work. Then the OTA update of lollipop came thru to my phone and I let it install. So basically I reinstalled lollipop even tho I already had. There must have been some AT&T updates in there because ever since the OTA it has been working flawlessly.

I still get the network or sim card error from time to time. Call forwarding works after a reboot of both the phone and the watch. It's dumb that I have to do that tho.

This is for at&t/takes a few minutes to get to the point but maybe it will help. This guy also does a pretty comical review of a durability test too. I heard at&t auto call forwarding is finicky.
How To Setup Call Forwarding for the Samsung Gear…: http://youtu.be/-pAeLZxOuqk

Yea that guy is awesome. I've seen his videos before.

Samsung locked the forwarding option off the note 4 at least for Att. Once you call them and have them set it up server side everything works perfect

Yea mine has been working recently so I'm good. My problem appeared to be AT&T. I went to the AT&T store and they told me to contact Samsung. I went to Samsung and they told me to contact AT&T. Made me wish I had an iPhone at that point.

Forwarding is an account feature. Samsung can't lock it. It is AT&T that locked it. It depends where your original AT&T account came from and how it was setup. They used to charge customers for this feature. That's why not everyone has it turned on.

Hope my experience will help someone. I followed all the tutorials I could find and could not get it to work. I finally gave in and called AT&T support. I didn't get the brightest person but this woman would not give up. On a last ditch effort it ended up being 2 things. I am behind a Microcell and forgot to enter the Gears S number. Second was she noticed that the profile for my line still had a Blackberry Passport on it from when I was messing around with one. She entered the IMEI for the Samsung device I am using and had me reboot. Wham, the Gear went into Call Forwarding mode. Tested all day today and just left my device at home. It worked like a charm.

I Still Love AT&T Tho
You got lucky. Whenever I call AT&T and mention the Gear S, they're like "uh" and don't even know what the device is. Same with the store. I went in there and they were like "man the Samsung guy was just here." I went to Samsung and they told me it was AT&T's fault and to contact them. I felt like Samsung was blowing me off but it really was AT&T's fault. If you ever have a problem with your call forwarding, don't even mention the Gear S when talking to AT&T. Just tell them you can't get your Samsung phone to set up call forwarding. Tell them every time you go into the call settings, then more settings you get a network and sim card error. When they fix this, they also fix your Gear S forwarding error without even knowing it.

[Q] GSM Call/Text issues

Hey, I posted this over at AVForums and didnt get a response and thought that you guys over here are probablt better informed. Below is a quote of the thread I started:
Well to start off, i'll tell you I am on the one plan with 3 and have a brand new sim free htc evo 3d.
Ive had the phone for about 2 weeks and it has worked perfectly ever since I got it. About 4 days ago, I noticed that texts were taking hours to come through. I then noticed that calls were never coming through and going straight to voicemail. Called 3, they blamed the phone but made sure call diverts were off anyway.
Calls were still going straight to voicemail but occasionally when phoning my number, I would get the dial tone but my phone wasnt ringing. I then put my misus t-mobile sim into my phone but I was getting the exact same problem, no calls were coming through. Couldnt put my sim into my misus phone as its sim locked.
I called 3 again, they said it must be the phone. I phone Amazon, they say phone HTC. HTC couldnt help so Amazon agreed to replace the phone. I now have old and new phone in possession. Using my old phone earlier today, I could no longer send text messages but I could receive them ok. The occasional call was coming through but most werent.
Ive now just set up the replacement phone. Everything was working fine for the first 5 minutes but now I cant send texts and calls arent coming through again.
Logically thinking, it surely cant be the phone and must be the sim card, but then again, my misus t-mobile sim showed the same problems in my phone which suggests it is the phone!
Im obviously going to phone 3 tomorrow but I want to be prepared for my argument. If it does end up being the sim, how can I explain to Amazon that I have opened the replacement phone but now need to send it back because there was nothing wrong with my phone in the first place. Surely they would be entitled to charge me or something for doing that?
Hope it all makes sense and I look forward to your responses!
EDIT: Forgot to mention that data is working fine. my 3g connection did drop at work the other day for no apparent reason, but calls and texts were working fine during this period, I guess its more when connected to 3g. There is no gsm only mode to test the phone either!
EDIT 2: Sometimes when calling my phone, I get the dial tone but my phone doesnt ring. However when the screen is on and the phone is out of standby, my phone receives calls fine! It does sometimes goes straight to voicemail but its just so confusing! I just did a test there, phone in standby, called it from my landline. I get the dial tone, but the phone doesnt ring. Whilst im still calling it, I wake my phone and it starts ringing! What the hell is going on!!!
Just a quick update and really hoping someone can offer some input!
I am at work just now, about 5 miles from my home address. So far today, my phone has been working fine at work. I visted the 3 store just round the corner from here, told him my story and he sadi it must be the handset due to the same issue with a t-mobile sim. I did mention the 3/t-mobile network sharing agreement and how they could be connecting to the same masts but he was adamant that no such thing exists. He also argued that the auction for the old analogue spectrum was for additional 3g capacity and not 4g. I did argue with him but he was clueless!
Anyways.... My phone worked fine in the shop so he said test with another sim card and if the problem persists, they would change the sim card. Ive came back to work and again, everything works well. I tried a vodafone sim card and again, all is ok!
When I think about it, my phone has pretty much worked fine when at work apart from not being able to connect to 3g the other day. This leads we to believe that there was be something wrong with my local mast at home, but if this was the case, why has it not been widely reported? Then again, the T-Mobile sim didnt work in my phone when at home, but worked fine in my misus htc desire. I have noticed that she is connected to 't-mobile orange' for 3g when its usually just 't-mobile'. Is it that her phone recognises a problem so switches to an orange mast?
This is doing my head in!
Thanks
EDIT: Sorry for posting in the wrong thread, I did wonder if I goty it right but clearly I didnt!

Call ended 0:00 problem

I have a Bell atrix phone unlocked and currently on Rogers system. Once a day i get the call ended 0:00 error when attempting to make a call, or I can't receive a call. A reboot fixes the problem. Not sure if its a setting that i have in my phone, I have done a factory reset, but i still happens. Any solutions. Called motorola and i get the famous "we never heard of this problem, send your phone in for repair" line. HELP please its driving me nuts.
Same problem here but I have an AT&T Atrix on Straight Talk
i also have had this problem, at&t phone
have changed radios, roms, still have the problem.
i'm going to ask for a sim replacement, see if that works.

Let me know how that works for you. Getting a replacement sim from straight talk is a pain in the A$$!!!
For some reason it just started hanging up whenever i try to make a call with google voice or without...
I uninstalled and reinstalled google voice with the same issue...
Phone is working fine randomly... Still says 0:00 when I hang up after a long call. lol
Did the same thing to me on one certain phone number with Att cyanogenmod.
I remember deleting the area code off and dialing again for the fix.

Just very strange when I originally made the switch to my verizon phone to AT&T it was because Verizon had no service at my work and AT&T had excellent service...
it worked beautifully for a months, always had HSPA+ with the Atrix or "3.5G" with the E71
Now i always have Edge or nothing and it's dropping calls like crazy and doing this 0:00 thing...
Going to swap over to a new sim as well and see what happens.
Just got my new sim and ported over.
Still stuck on edge with 1-3 bars where before i was always 3g-hspa+
I'll check back in the 0:00 issue after i have made some calls

[Q] use of a foreign sim

Ok so I (foolishly) bought a galaxy s4 with verizon even though I was moving overseas to Israel in two months. I made sure that the phone was world capable (like it can do cdma and gsm) and the guy at the store said it would handle foreign sims no problem. Once I arrived here I got a new sim. I figured out that it needed to be in gsm. From then on it had the service bar and confirmed it was connected to Orange. Since then I have been able to receive calls and texts, but not make them, every time I try to make a call before one ring I get a prerecorded message saying that my number cant be completed as dialed. I have tried several things already to fix this: to a cell phone repair person, to the local sim carrier where a lady tried using the sim of her own phone, customer service at verizon and samsung (who both told me to go see the other). I also did a factory reset which didnt do anything.
my phone is not rooted and is schi545 ME7. I will root if I have to, but if I dont I would prefer not to for the time being
Anyway I suspect the problem has something to do with the fact that I got the phone from verizon. Every time I start the phone I get the Verizon logo and after a minute I get a notification from the verizon set up wizard saying that I have a non verizon sim and that the sims source is unknown. I also tried disabling the verizon security and was able to make the notification go away but the problem persists.
Can someone with experience with this kind of stuff help me please? Thank you so very much:good:
Are you sim unlocked? I don't think the phone is unlocked. Talk to verizon to see if they'll unlock it.
According to verizon I am. I spoke with multiple representives from verizon and they said the phone was unlocked

Has any one told you if you have to change any apn, access point name? That may be the problem too. They can be specific to the carrier.
No, how do you configure that

In system settings, network & wireless, more, mobile networks, access point name. It'll be specific to the carrier so i can't help you there.
all LTE Verizon phones after Galaxy Note 2 are factory unlocked it must be a APN issue. Try maybe to do a factory reset and as previous poster suggested do the steps he told you to change the APN or look into I think it's called HiApn in Play Store.
Also try to put it in global mode or GSM? play with the settings.
still having problems
Thanks for all the input everyone but my problem still persists
I downloaded HiApn and followed its instructions to which told me to set up 3 Apns. I noticed that only one of them can be active at the time. I tried with each one active and I still can not make phone calls. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Go to Setting, call setting, disable the prefix international. I have done the same for using Verizon S4 in Indonesia.
Mine was not unlocked either, although I knew this before buying. This is a guide I tried (without success) to unlock it on my own.
Like the last poster, I reside in Indonesia, but I was never with Verizon. I rooted mine and have had no problems since.
Ok so I went to call settings and the closest I found was assisted dialing for international calls and the option to turn it on or off. I played with that for a bit and it didnt work.
I also tried the code and it said connection problem or invalid code
during my fiddling I came upon an app that showed promise of fixing my problem if I had adb shell. Does anyone have a good place to get that? I tried a few that didnt work out for me. There was another that showed promise but it wouldnt send a package no matter what I try
Thanks
If you want ADB, you need to download Android SDK and have Java Runtime Environment also installed. Then, it is just a matter of typing in "adb" into the command prompt of Windows.
Is there a serious conflict for you not rooting the device? The true benefit of doing this is to get SIM cards from anywhere to work, and to allow certain apps to work. Rooting is simply a matter of bypassing security parameters. As long as you follow instructions strictly, you won't have an issue using the phone as it should be used.
yea I suppose I could try to root it. Im just not great at that stuff and am worried about messing up my phone permanately

You don't need to root. You need to sim unlock. Get a hold of att international chat and adj them for an unlock code.
Hey guys thanks for all the help but I figured out that it was just a bad sim all along and that the first school screwed me over
But everything works now

Receiving/Making Phone Calls w/out SIM or WIFI!!!

OK this is my first post and it's a weird one. I've always known phones to be useless without a SIM card except for emergency calls. Well today I purchased an S4 on Craigslist. As I was bringing it home, it started to ring. I didn't answer it and shortly after I received a text. There was no SIM in it so I thought it was weird but left it alone.
When I got home, I did a factory reset, put in my old SIM card and activated it to my number. Everything went well - received texts normally, emails worked great, called my husband's phone and worked great until I looked at his phone and saw that the number that popped up wasn't mine, it was the old number. Tried calling my phone with his and went straight to vmail.
Seems like everything activated correctly except for the phone function. Called Verizon and the rep thought it was odd as well since texts went through, but could not figure it out. The rep said the phone is probably tampered with, but I've never heard of anything that could make phone calls without a SIM or wifi.*I reactivated my old phone and left the S4 with no SIM and it's still able to make/receive phone calls!! Weird!
All IMEI numbers match, physical and in About Phone even on box. Phone is not rooted according to Root checker.
Please someone tell me what this is so I can just can undo it and activate my number to the new phone. Thanks
Maybe Verizon or an emergency service was trying to call you... They don't need a sim for that.
The old phone issue is normal every time they port a number or switch a number they [email protected]#$ it up I've had it happen a couple times it on their end not yours
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
The Sim is only for LTE service, you use built in CDMA radios for calling.
I honestly don't know about the number issue, take it to a corporate Verizon store (the private stores only care about sales not customer service) to have them properly activate it.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Sounds like the phone is set to nv-only mode. The vzw s4 is fully operational in this mode but it won't pull your phone info from the sim card.
This is the mode we put the phone in when flashing to carriers like page plus, selectel, etc.
If you want, you can PM me the meid of the device and/or the phone number the calls are being placed with. I'll check to see if it's an active page plus account.

Unusual Error with Galaxy Note 3

Yesterday morning I found myself unable to make outgoing calls on my Galaxy Note 3. Every call attempt sends me to my own voicemail. Text messaging and data work, the issue is just with voice calls. I've tried rebooting, clearing the cache and rebooting, hard and soft resets nothing works.
I brought into a Sprint store and they couldn't fix it so I went home and installed a stock ROM, When that didn't help I ended up calling Sprint tech support. After half an hour and multiple attempts by the Sprint phone tech I was finally told I needed to be transferred to Senior Tech. As I was waiting to be transferred the line went dead. I eventually did call Sprint again and they reactivated the phone as well as a few other things but still nothing has worked.
Today I discovered that the calls I am able to receive are only from other carriers and/or from landlines. All calls from Sprint accounts go straight to my voicemail just like my outgoing calls do. I called Sprint tech support again to update them and they were surprised to hear this.
Two different Techs called my phone from their offices to confirm and sure enough I answered. They had to clue hot to fix this.
To me this indicate it's a Sprint network problem and not a problem with my handset. Even changing my phone number wouldn't resolve the problem, in tech's opinion.
So they opened a support ticket but I am not optimistic this can be fixed. I'll give them a couple days to try but if they can't I'll be forced to close my account which, after 15+ years, is a shame.
I fixed it. Turns out Google Voice was causing problems. Sprint had to remove it from my profile. Phone works fine now.
I would have to say that, before you said anything about Google voice, it is a Sprint network issue. I know of a few troubled networks within Sprint. Also Samsung and Sprint are having issues with 5.0.1 and the S6 which is completely unrelated to this issue.
