First..lol, great work

First, thanks! I will test right now.

Awesome:good:

OK guys .. where is the feedback " those who already tested it " ..
Such app is always welcomed
Thank you Dev

Will test on 5.1 and report back if it works
Edit: doesn't work

could you give an example of unbackupable app?

E.g. SuperSU, AquaMail. Not possible to backup them via Helium without this module.

It would be a great mod if it would work 100% but there are still some apps on my phone I can't back up with Helium such as Facebook, Messenger and ebay. For some apps it works. Using a Xperia Z running stock 4.4.4 KitKat.

Yes, some bug(?) on Helium side. Flag for backing up is enabled for all apps.

How to use it? After instalation i don't see anything

I found out how to activate backup for the rest apps in Helium. You habe to start the apps shown under deactivated backup once. After that you can back them up with Helium.
Edit: I should have tested it first. The apps area listed under able to back up but the process does take too long. So it does not work.
Edit 2: The result of another test is that I can not back up those apps on my external sd card but on my internal memory.

It does not create any shortcut. This mod disables the hook in apps that deactivates the possibility to back these apps up with Helium or adb. There is nothing to set up.

What are the advantages of this over titanium backup? I've never come across an app I can't backup

Great! It's working... :good:
It's my suggestion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/idea-hook-androidallowbackup-t3063979

Great Minds Think Alike
I was just thinking of how I'd go about this :good:
Edit:
I was gonna name it BackupAllowed, as it made more sense, if you wanna have your pick.

Does it backup the data as well or just the apk?

This mod doesn't backup anything. You'll need another app like Helium.

Thanks. OP really needs to put a full description in the main post.

backups?
Have u ever heard of titanium backup?

Titanium backup is not backing up some apps fully called Modern combat 4 whose size is 1.97 Gb (backups only 24 Mb) and the other app called Nine whose size is 338 Mb (Backups only 91 Mb) even after setting value of 2048 MB (2Gb) in 'Select ex external data by max size in MB'
Here's what the dev says in help section:
" v. Extended Backups
Some applications (especially games) require more than just the APK and settings data. In most cases, these are assets of the particular application. In our terms, we call these “external app data”. With Titanium Backup, you can create backups containing these if you have enough storage on your device. To do this, you just need to go to Titanium Backup’s preferences and look for “Backup app external data” option. If you decide to set a limit to the external data, the subsequent option in the preferences namely “Select external data by max size” will allow you to set the respective limits.
Note that Titanium Backup only includes external data that is stored in /sdcard/Android/data/ directory. Some files like the OBB files are big and are downloaded straight from Google, thus never contain user generated content. These files are NOT included and are NOT considered as app external data by Titanium Backup"
Any better backup app? Please let me know.

Titanium Backup ?

Hi,
I have been using this to backup, but have trouble restoring xROM. Is it able to restore apps in say 2.1, backed up in 1.5 (app compatibility aside)
Thanks
Phil
To be honest, I have a problem with this too, I always regularly backup and tried to restore all my apps in CKDROID (2.1 ROM), but I couldn't even install most of the apps, some worked, but more than 70% of my apps were just skipped.
I have also found the Titanium backup a bit unreliable. I bought MyBackUp Pro and it is at the moment the best backup app (in my eyes)

mybackup also skips apps. perhaps only 70-80%.
I use appmanager to backup my apps, and mybackup for data, that is the best way for me.

Yeah, that's correct. Skips a few, but not more than it's an easy job to re-download them from the market
I use mybackup pro for sms, call logs and all other data, and titanium backup for applications, although i too must admit it's a bit unreliable.
Is there any application that allows all apps to be restored with one click, using mybackup pro is a hassle as i have to press install for every app!
And what about if i use apps2d, do i have to restore them every time i flash a new rom or will they still be there?
Hi !
I'm the Titanium Backup developer.
For those who have problems with reliability (especially for the app restoration) I would recommend to try the "Problems?" button in the app which will download and install a known good version of busybox. This simple step usually annihilates most problem cases
e3zippo: thanks by the way for being a donator ! Just a question, I saw your post on the MoDaCo forum thread (sorry I can't post proper links as a new user. URL is: android.modaco.com/content/software/297171/new-software-that-can-backup-restore-all-settings-of-any-apps/ ) which led me to believe that everything worked fine for you. So which of your posts is the most up-to-date ? I assume you first had problems and then they got sorted out ?
Thanks,

I still have a few problems, when i restore using batch it skipped atrackdog and one more app i can't remember, i will try and download a known good version of busybox as you recommended, and we'll see what happens! Thanks for replying!
Hey all
I discovered this app and donated about a week ago...
I made just one restore and wasn't sure the order I should use after a wipe...
I did
1. Wipe
2. Market to download Titanium (But i didn't go in the download section so next time, it'll show all apps I previously downloaded)
3. Restore
4. Market
But I had to restore twice cause market wasn't showing all my apps...
How you guys do that ?
Hi maxqc,
Your procedure should be correct.
If the market link does not appear for an app, I see two reasonable reasons for that:
a) market cache needs clearing (does not apply in your case because you did a wipe)
b) market entries got deleted by the system a few seconds after I restored them.
I have noticed case "b" recently and indeed, this can be annoying but it's really the system that is removing what I just added in the Market data.
To resolve this without needing a 2nd restore, I will probably add a "repair all Market links" feature in Titanium Backup soon.
Have fun
One more thing that is important: always verify that the "Enable USB Debugging" checkbox in the phone settings is checked.
I will add a verification for that, in the next Titanium Backup release.
Would it be possible to add a feature so that titanium backup will also back up our home screen layout? This is the only feature that I find missing in your great software.

Hi jdoo,
This should already be in the current version: look for something green-colored, labeled either as "Launcher" or as "Home" (depending of whether you have a google or a HTC rom)

Thank you for the quick response! I must have missed it since the batch backup appears to skip over system type items.
Thanks again for your efforts on this program and your quick response - I absolutely love how fast the unattended batch restore is in the paid version.
Can you explain the different batch options for me? I'm a little confused by them.
What's the difference between the two "backup all user apps" options (why does the 'running apps will be auto-ended' one have more apps)? And what does the "force refresh of your backups" do?

If you have an app running that you do not want to terminate, you can use the first option. The second option has more apps listed because it does not exclude apps that are currently running.
No idea on force refresh, but it seems like it will do a full backup of apps you backed up before, and also delete what you've uninstalled but had backed up.

Hi daandman,
It's quite simple actually:
Option 1: The "Backup all user apps (running apps excluded)" will backup all user apps, *except* those which are currently running.
Option 2: The "Backup all user apps (running apps auto-ended)" will backup all user apps, *including* those which are currently running (it auto-kills them as needed before backing them up).
Thus it is normal that Option 2 always includes more apps than Option 1 !
The "Force refresh of your backups" option will remake any backups that you currently have:
- if you have the Free version it will simply overwrite the backup
- if you have the Donate version (and a backup history setting greater than 1) it will simply add a new backup for the app, and delete the oldest one if the max history length is reached for that app.

Hi cigar3tte
Absolutely correct - except that "force refresh" will not delete backups of uninstalled apps.

[Q] The best backup solution?

Dear folks,
I use Titanium Backup but reinstall is a long process and I must accept terms and press "Install" button all the time TB wants to reinstall an other application.
I need a backup solution wich is fully automate and the only thing I have to do just collect the apps and choose the drive (internal or sd) and then waiting without any other interveintion.
What kind of backup do you use, guys?
Anyway, I'm using GingerFroyo 012. But I want to do full wipe next time without too much time wasting. I have approximately 100+ apps on my phone. You know... it has a little inconvenience about reinstall all of them.
Thx.
I have the perfect app for you- it´s called "backup everything", and it really backups everything you can backup without su-right-requirement.
it backs up:
Apn
Apps
SMS
Call log
system setting
BookMarks
alarms
to your sdcard.
Try it out!
or u can use app "my backup pro"
it like backup everything
you can download it on market
try all you have 2 choice
My Backup Pro is better!
Thx. This app capable to restore backups (*.apk-s) without intervention.

It's totally another life! It's what you want...
... and be very careful: it can uninstall even the system apps!
Titanium Rules! In settings change the processing mode to automatic or anything except interactive and then you won't have to keep pressing install. It's do everything by itself.

[Q] - Recommendation for a Backup & Restore App

Having always rooted my phones I never had an issue backing up apps and data via Titanium backup but am now looking for a solution to back up apps and their data on my non-rooted Z2.
Having just flashed the latest Z2 firmware via Flashtool which wipes the phone, I've restored backups I had made with Sonys Back Up and Restore app only to find it didn't backup all it said it did, so had a number of apps and data missing.
Can anyone recommend a solution to this

I was in the same boat as yourself, Ive found a good one is HELIUM, plus helium will state what apps don't have a backup option coded into them so unlike sonys own app u wont be annoyed when some apps do/don't backup Also Helium allows cloud backups as well as internal and external sd card backups
Im currently using helium for apps and Mybackup pro for my text message backups as I found heliums message backups were weirdly in the opposite date order to normal use( instead of latest being at bottom of list it was at top)
Thanks mate, will give Helium a try

Just confiming, does Hellium doesnt back up the app data like TB?
I know ive read somewhere there is an app by chainfire for app and data backup for non rooted but at first glance it seem a bit long winded so never bothered with it.
I used easy backup which restored my apps, sms, mms, call log etc all no probs but yeah problem was no data backed up so had to set them all up like email, settings etc all over again.
I understand Unlocking and Rooting an Xperia is a tough task. But the stock ROM is good enough.
A good article here. It helped me and it may help you too buddy.

well your not gonna get the same level of backup due to lack of root, but for me it saved things like game progression(i.e angry birds) but didn't save things like custom widget sets in HD widgets app. But not the end of the world.
Ive started looking at my backups a bit more in detail and asking do I really need a backup of some apps, as some are just install-login to app and use no custom data to speak of to really backup. Or other apps like XDA app and game progression which have custom settings and progression Id like to save.

I lost hope after that, so does it work now on Z2 ?
I'm still not in a hurry to have Z2 as there's still no way to root without unlocking the bootloader, and I will not unlock the bootloader without backing up the TA partition first ( which requires root )... so I've been looking for a way to copy some of my app's data from my old phone to Z2, I used to use Titanium Backup always but you know, no root = no TB...
so can you confirm please that you used Helium to backup AND restore app's data to the Z2 ? or you're just guessing from a non-xperia experience ?

I used helium to backup my apps on my s3 then install them on my z2, ive also backedup up my current apps on my z2 since, but like ive already said helium cant backup certain apps as the app developer hasn't allowed backup function. Helium did the job for me for my game progression and a few apps where I wanted current setup saved.

Backup & Restore apps and games via Titanium Backup

Hi,
I would like to know which option in Titanium Backup can backup my messages (from viber/whatsapp, etc.) and games (Candy Crush for example (note that i don't use facebook)) because I'm moving from the stock rom of samsung 4.3 to CM11 (first time I want to install a rom).

So shoudln't there be any special setting to backup game saves/progresses?
no, you can backup data game like other apps
when i see the backup properties - both data and "external data" should be marked? Or it's enough that only data
And one more thing - the folder "Phone\TitaniumBackup" is the one I should copy to the SD
Depends from the app: both marked if has external data like TomTom navigator with maps or Real Racing with data about tracks and cars, only data for most part of apps
I suggest you to set up as default folder for backup a folder on external microsd.

The Best Way To Backup & Restore Data

Hey
Im using Custom Roms now for over a year, but i always have one problem with restoring data.
I mostly use the Google Feature, that restores all your apps. But all the time i have to login in every app again and again. I mostly als make a Titanium Backup, but when i restore these over the preinstalled apps some apps crash or on Lineage OS the whole System was unusable. I also make a TWRP backup, restoring is not always possible when you switch to another Rom.
I also dont own Titanium Backup Pro, so autoinstalling dont work.
How do you restore apps + data ?
What guide did i miss ?
Thanks in advance
move up.
I 'm also interested which app for backup is recommend.
I know oandbackup and TitaniumBackup.
Till know I only tried oandbackup but there are several problems. Backup to SD-Card doesn't work. Also to internal storage the backup was complete but only a few MB big but should have a lot more.

After letting Google install all the apps just restore data from titanium, NOT app+data. Also, if you do this often just buy titanium. You spend so much money on the phone and titanium also works on all your future phones. It really saves you a lot of time and is well worth the money.
Titanium is the answer , it is feature packed as hell.
Also if you want to use a different android version backup to another version (Like from 9 to 10), you can always just restore the Data, it works for me always.
You can let google download all your previous apps in android 10 and then restore only data from Titanium, you can obviously batch select the apps to restore.
