[Q] Selling a broken one - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I've sent my z2 tab to repair. only the thouch, and can you try what happened?
yep, they broken my LCD. I'm crying here.
The price to repair is close to buy a new one.
Can you say something about a price to selling it to removal parts? I don't want to lose all my money.

It's hard to believe but it happens sometimes. If you are not careful about packing, it might be damaged in transit. If you have insurance, try to claim with carrier.

[Q] Broken screen: Sell on Ebay or try to get Samsung to repair

I hope somebody can point me in the right direction. I dropped my Note (no case I am an idiot--all due to my vanity) and cracked the screen. I think I have 2 options.
1. Sell on Ebay---how much should I expect to get?
2. Try and get samsung to repair--I heard they will fix it for 200 bucks.---How do I figure out how to do that? Will it matter that I bought it on Ebay used and don't have any original info for it?
thanks
Honestly you will probably spend the same amount either way. ~200 to fix or ~200-250 selling broken and buying newer used one. I think they hold strong still at around ~500

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Displ...20&sr=1-2&keywords=cracked+screen+galaxy+note (Is this what you would need? Sorry, not so great with the hardware stuff always)
http://www.buymytronics.com/Cell-Phone/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-SGH-i717
(Option 3- This website can estimate the value of your note with defects although I do not know its reliability, may be nice to troubleshoot)
http://www.sellcell.com/phone/samsung-galaxy-note-sgh-i717/ (the top price listed here is 295, but it does not say what condition the phone is in. I will continue to look for you though. )
Hey mate
In my honest opinion and experiance i'd go the ebay option. Aim around the $300 mark.
As my replacement screen cost me 350 (in australia) also you never know if the drop has
Fractured anything internally.
So id sell it for the 300,fork out the other 200 and get a brand new one with warranty.
Just my 2cents
Yeh I would sell the device. Since the demand is still high. And save up for either another phone or use the money and wait it out ..saying if you had a backup.. And get note 2 ! if and when it does come out.. lol
don't sell on ebay

From personal experience selling a device like this on ebay sucks. First you must post a very detailed description of the device other wise if you get any buyer thats very picky you are going to have a very bad time paying for the shipping to and from the shipper, and then the fees are crazy, between ebay and pay pal you are going to lose like 60$ and then you have to wait for about two or three weeks before you can use the money because scumbag paypal has the buyer protection thing. If i were you i'd look for a shop to try to repair it, if not i really really recommend that you try your luck on craigslist.:good:

Here's my opinion. If it's in good condition otherwise, and you really like it (who wouldn't?), I'd definitely have it fixed professionally by Samsung if you can get it done for that $200. You'll have a brand new screen on a phone that can't even be a year old yet (that can be checked by serial number and it does not matter to Samsung if you bought it used) . If you try to sell it (high eBay fees as others have mentioned, and a lot of hassle) and start with another new or used Note, I think you're going to take a much bigger loss than $200. Even for people who carry AT&T insurance, the deductible is $200.
I'd call Samsung support direct to find out if that repair quote is available.
I will buy it off you lol

I just broke my screen and decided to use the insurance and for 200 got a new (refurb) phone with 1 yr warranty. I think 200 is a high deductible, but by telling them I lost it I could keep my broken one. Maybe get something back for the old one to soften the cost.

Broke my glass monday getting in the truck after being out on vacation. They locked my doors over the week (they are never locked) so i had to reach across to unlock the pass door (which i never have to do) and had my phone in my back pocket. I felt it get hooked on the door close knob in the door jam and when i jumped out to throw my **** in the pass side of the truck i pulled it out and almost fell down.
EVERY f%#^ng morning i load all my **** in the pass side and have my phone in my hand while getting in the truck and set it on the rag on the floor...... i am pissed off to no end

[Q] Help, repairman lost my phone...

So I sent my phone to a reputable repair person and short of it, they lost it.
The replacement they yanked off of Ebay is not up to snuff, has more issues than my old wonky power button issue.
Does anyone know where I could track down a replacement?
I'm looking for new if possible
Any help would be great. I'm getting a little frustrated with the repair company trying to help
Swappa.com is a great place to get quality used phones. Tell the repair place they can keep their crappy replacement and give you the cash instead.
P. S. Mobile tech videos is a great repair place to use in the future.

LCD Fix ?

Hi guys I have done something really bad , just purchased my One a week ago and everything was fine until I had to fly to Cancun mexico for a performance ( I'm a dj for an urban singer ) the problem is that I dropped my phone and broke the LCD , is there anyway to replace it ? This phone is built in a unibody style so I really doubt it but just wanted to make sure.
any help?
I believe your only good option would be to send it into HTC for repair. I remember reading a thread about someone already cracking the screen and it was around $200 or so for repair..
Assuming you do not have insurance on it?

I also just recently dropped mine and since I didn't purchase it thru AT&T (I bought it locally through an indivdual) my AT&T Insurance won't cover it. Since iFixit gave this phone a repair-ability rating of 1 out of 10 - the One is damn near impossible to repair. So, I called HTC and asked for an estimate to repair the cracked LCD. They quoted me a cost of 'up to $180' without looking at it. I sent it in to them, they received it today and now I'm waiting for them to call me with an actual quote. I will post here with my findings if anyone cares to know.
Ok, so HTC quoted me $180.00 to repair the broken LCD. Not too bad, in my opinion. Better than selling a broken device and losing hundreds.

Any warranty options on a used One?

Hello xda. A few weeks ago I sold my S3 for $200 and purchased a used silver AT&T HTC one for $450 from an electronics reseller here in OKC, Cdr electronics. I'm outside of my upgrade window and really wanted the One so i figured this was the best and least expensive route. The phone was in almost mint condition. Not a single flaw except the common gap on the speaker grills. I didn't get any packaging or accessories, just the phone itself.
Now about 3 weeks later I've noticed dust and lint under the glass about half an inch in from the volume rocker and it's really starting to bug me. Obviously it's a hardware defect, but I don't have the original receipt, only mine from the reseller. Is their anything i can do? I can return it for a full refund in the next week but I'm curious if there is any warranty at all i can utilize. Would AT&T do anything for me? HTC? Anyone else in this situation? Thanks!

Since you didn't get the phone from AT&T, I doubt they will give you anything on warranty. HTC warrants the phone for one year from purchase or 15 months from manufacture. The serial number of the phone identifies the manufacture date. If you call HTC, I wouldn't tell them any information they don't ask for. Also, if you send it back to HTC, make sure it is in full stock form. No unlocked boot loader and stock Rom. Remove all evidence of tampering with the device or they will deny warranty.

What kind of warranty did the business give you on purchasing it from them? If it's a shop worth their salt, it's at least 30 days. Can you take it up with them? If not, I would call HTC and talk to them about it. Just as dborgo states, don't mention that it was used and you should be fine. One user on here got caught up by volunteering info he shouldn't have and it cost him money for repairs. Simple Yes or No answers with a few vague responses SHOULD get you what you want.
PM packer2058. He might have a few ideas for you about deceiving, cheating, lying and/or defrauding at&t into giving you 6 replacement phones.

Doesn't sound too good when I put it that way huh ... Actually I would like to see what happens if he tires to claim warranty on that phone. According to packer2058 it isn't unethical to do that.

I bought a One off CL and contacted att when I found a defect with the back camera. They sent me a new one with no issues. They had even asked where I purchased the phone and I told them off of a third party. I used the online chat. If you don't get the answer you want on the first call/chat just hang up and contact them right back. You will get through to a person who is helpful. Good luck

The official HTC Warranty
I took a picture of the warranty card that came with my One, since HTC's website is quite obtuse and the info was impossible to find. Basically, the HTC warranty goes to the original purchaser and is not transferable to a third party. That isn't to say that they won't work something out with you, but you should also be prepared to pay for the repairs if they find out.

I would guess your best bet is to go through AT&T. They are pretty good about warranties on the devices they sell. If they show your line using a ONE it shouldn't be a problem. If asked where it was purchased just tell them it was a 3rd party wireless retailer. Worst case scenario, I'm sure HTC will fix it for you but more than likely they will charge you at least 100 bucks. At that point you mine as well return it and buy a new one directly from HTC.

Broke my s4 screen. Best thing to do?

As the tittle says it, I broke my front glass. Everything else is fully operational. I have the asurion insurance. Does it cost the same to say I lost the phone as it does to send it in and have them give me a new one? I'm thinking if I tell them I lost it, I can sell mine on eBay as bad ESN, cracked glass and recoup my claim costs. Anyone have any input or experience with this?

I'm not too fond of doing the latter you suggested, seems like fraud to me.

You can give them a call and see if there is a deductible that you must pay. If it's an obscene amount of money, you can just replace the front glass. I did my father's S3 and it costed $9 in parts.

You should check out ny mobile parts. I've heard they are priced well for parts and they get parts directly from Samsung
The deductible with Asurion is $99. I know this, because I cracked the screen on mine this past Friday and the replacement is due on Monday.
I wonder, are they sending me a refurbished model or a new S4?
refurbished

I wonder just what refurbished is??? Sometimes they can't find the prob in tech and you have to send the phone back for a new (refurbished) one..
To replace the gorilla glass 3 it will run you $300 + / -
Just use Asurion, they will charge u $99
Phoneclaim.com is fastest and easiest way to start claim process.
Best wishes

Yes. they includes a prepaid shipping label. just mailed it back in the same box it came. my phone was totally messed up so i didnt care. when you call them they ask what happened and if you still have the phone in your possession, not sure what they say/make you do if you say you no longer have the phone. If you tell them you still have it, they will require you to send the old one back

I had asurion insurance also. Broke my droid x, paid 100 dollars, got a new one in 3 days. I had to mail the old one. My understanding is that if you report it stolen or lost and can't turn it in, the phone's serial number etc are all invalidated so there's no way to connect to a service. Basically rendering the device a wifi only device.
Hence when buying from ebay or craigslist a "used" phone, you need to make sure you can actually get service on it.

Yes, but that would be perfect for what he wants to do.
Sell it on eBay as a bad ESN, basically a "parts" phone.
With much difficulty given the state of the cracked screen, I finally FDR'd my broken S4 in the recovery menu. Is there anything else I should do to ensure old data won't be recovered, or can I leave it with the the data wipe/factory reset?
I'm surspised they sent me a brand new phone in box with all new accessories. Weird thing is a few days later I turn on the broken s4 to recover some files and I out it on WiFi only to upload to drop box and a few minutes later it just bricked itself. I booted into recovery and wiped, it still won't boot up. I'm gonna try Odin later
