Does anyone think the AT&T Version of the Samsung Galaxy Note will have identical Screen Issues like the International Version of the Samsung Galaxy Note?
Who cares!! The brilliant thing is we will all have warranty so we dont need to worry. The reason i sold my n7000 is because i was paranoid about that happening and i wanted lte

The nice thing about the AT&T version is that they're a lot easier to exchange. I would also imagine that they have ironed out the few bugs with the screen now that it's had it's trial run internationally. AT&T has a lengthy process to approve these new devices.

Um...
Actually when the S2 was released in the US on T-Mobile there was an influx of complaints regarding the display. I don't know if our US Carriers will matter much in respect to this.
A FEW QUESTIONS,
IF I BOUGHT A GALAXY NOTE UNLOCKED AT&T VERSION FOR FULL PRICE (WHEN AVAILABLE) CONTRACT-FREE, WITHOUT BEING AN AT&T CUSTOMER, WILL I GET THE SAME KIND OF GENEROUS WARRANTY LIKE THOSE WHO BUY IT FOR $299 WITH A 2-YEAR CONTRACT?
HOW LONG WOULD THE WARRANTY BE?
AND DO I NEED TO DEAL WITH SAMSUNG DIRECTLY OR AT&T (EVEN IF I AM NOT AN AT&T CUSTOMER)?
KINDA STINKS THAT EXYNOS IS NOT ON THE AT&T-VARIANT. ARE THERE ANY DOWNSIDES TO THE SNAPDRAGON? BENCHMARKS?
YeA its mainly benchmarks imo i had the skyrocket then i sold it for the n7000 and i can tell yoj forst hand the skyrixket was a way way faster device. As for your other question i would say to be safe tell someone you know to call in and add your note to there at&t acount for your warranty. So buy outright and call it in and just say you wanna add the device on they will ask you for your imei and thats it your good

I'm thinking about the AT&T version too, thanks!
However, I did read some where someone's Skyrocket managed to catch on fire while on board a flight. That's the only thing which worries me.

But remember the Galaxy Note screen has 1280 x 800 resolution and the Skyrocket has 800 x 480. That is almost 3 times the pixels to process so not directly comparable. When I first got my Galaxy Note, I agree the skyrocket was faster in the screen transitions etc but after two more updates that is not the case any longer. I have the LA4 update which sped up the phone significantly. While I agree that benchmarks do not tell the entire story, the Galaxy Note routinely has among the highest benchmarks for any phone.
Based on the several videos I saw from CES on the ATT version, I think it will be fine since it will be optimized with a newer version of firmware before we get it

The note is not using the same exact s3 chip as the skyrocket. I was somewhat surprised to see antutu results for the att note were better than the stock skyrocket results. If that says anything, the note will be lightning fast after some roms and a nice kernel pop up

Edit: I have not had any screen issues with my GNote. (Knock wood) The screen is just beautiful!
Agreed. I was not comparing the skyrocket to the Note. I have seen one Antutu score on the ATT version so I think we need several more runs to get a good feel for where it will be. That said, I was impressed with 6000 as a score and am looking forward to getting one. Like you said that puts it up there sightly above the skyrocket and SGSII which are both very capable phones.

Nah...
LMAO, NO I'M NOT YELLING I've been so pissed off with my Galaxy Note. Getting my refund soon and hoping to purchase it from AT&T instead if I see good results with the display.
Thanks for asking btw, heehee.
There a lot of frustrated Note users out there. Hopefully the AT&T Note turns out clean.

Once there is ics on this thing, itll be flying even faster! Hopefully the screen issues are fixed, because i also want the best smartphone screen lol. Just hope ics comes soon, the theming makes everything look so much better. Also, hopefully cm7/9 can be built, make life so much better ha. Esp screen wise too! Rise that dpi and tab mode you go.
All i gotta say is i can't wait. After my n7000 i came back to my ogs2 and damn this thing feels dinky lol the note is a man phone straight up

I went to at&T today to pick up a new sim card for my lady and the flip cover case for my note (which i can't decide if i like or not) and was talking to the rep about my note.
I mentioned that the only thing i didn't like about the note was the lack of accuracy of.the s-pen. He told me that they are planning on rolling out an update to this and through note tablet that will address that issue and will increase.its sensitivity and accuracy.
Throw that in with the mention of the "Galactic upgrade Premium Suite coming soon" mention at the end of the new Angry Birds Space for the note game trailer and i think its accurate. According to what i saw it is coming 3/25.
I think that means ICS is pretty far out with this simple.update coming at the end of the month. Makes me frown...
At least they are doing something about the s-pen i guess.

Why, from a business standpoint, should AT&T bother upgrading a phone that has already been released?
In the past, the only real reason for an upgrade would be to fix something that was broken, or add something that was missed. Gingerbread isn't broken, ICS doesn't add anything, therefore there is no real need for an upgrade.
Unfortunately, for us, this means that any ICS that comes along in forms of ROMs will have to be hacked in (for features like Hardware Acceleration) since we can't really write for the specific hardware.
I'm actually cool with GB myself. It was a long time coming and ICS just didn't have that big of an impact on me. I just wish that TouchWiz was better geared for my finger in this phone instead of the s-pen.
Well i never said that i thought the date would stand.
I just found it very interesting that he would say that and then i would read that.
Samsung knows they have a decent following and most of them are drooling for ICS. So does att. From a marketing and customer relations standpoint they know they would take a hit without an ICS update. The question is just when.
An update to the note around the release of the note tab makes sense. Similar hardware between them and if they were able to update the accuracy on the tab they could easily port that to the phone. Probably include some new bloatware from recently developed apps designed for the note. Call it a "Premier Suite" to get people interested.

Thanks for sharing what you heard. Whatever it is that is on the way sure can't be a bad thing. None of us knows what it is, but we all hope that ICS will be here sooner than later. I don't think Samsung would have teased this news with Angry Birds unless it was somewhat significant, at least. I actually think it is some of the software that they have been teasing on their website, i.e. Whiteboard.
The angry birds tease is an international note as I recall. I bet my right nut we won't see ics before October. Don't get ur hopes to high guys n be disappointed, just enjoy and be happy we have a awesome piece of hardware!
Enjoy the note now as the Galaxy Note S or Note II will come with JellyBean. Take this with a pound of salt.
-On another NOTE, Samsung goes 5.3"

Ive seen several reports that rank ATT higher then Sprint and Verizon. I dont understand why everyone bashes on ATT. Every Wireless company is evil in my opinion, not just ATT. I found ATT's customer service to be rather pleasant compared to Verizon and Tmobile. (I despise sprint so i havent worked w/ their customer service).

Anyone sure about this, or just the usual AT&T hatred?
Just curious, because I did my homework prior to purchasing this unit and from what I could tell it would be upgraded to ICS relatively quickly. I heard March quoted quite a few times, but I wasn't really expecting it until Summer. But Samsung is really trying to compete with Apple these days, and they're doing a good job. They know one of their weak spots was their lack of support for existing products, maybe I'm naive, but I would like to think that with the competition in mind, and considering It's not drastically difficult, that they would want to get that update out to us relatively quickly.
Either way I don't think it makes that huge of a difference.
I see it as a simple problem to solve. We will all have to band together to pay a dev to take a quality ICS package (and thats official, not leaked) and graft it over to the ATT version. There are numerous talented devs here that can pull it off, especially with "donations"
I doubt we will ever see ICS on the original att note, perhaps the Note 2 when ever that comes out.

It's not an opinion.. is the AT&T SGSII getting ICS in March like the international version? No. It is pretty obvious which version Samsung is talking about.. Carrier testing takes longer than three weeks which is how long the AT&T Note has been out for.
The special little party is probably about S-Pen SDK 2.0 which was just released.

In prior history has the carrier branded and international version EVER gotten a major software upgrade at the same time? NO! International always gets it well before a carrier phone. Just the nature of the beast. I'm telling u guys, no ics for at&t note till atleast October! It is what it is! No big deal!
I Just upgraded to to the Note 3 days ago. I was going to switch carrier but then this beast came out so now iam stuck with At&t for another 2 years.. (yikes) i still have the LG thrill with me which was supposed to be upgraded to GB Oct 2011???? It is now Match 2012 and its still running Froyo. At&t are full of promises if the Note gets ICS fine but if note iam ok with GB on this thing..I can always install ROMS later
My father in law just got his Galaxy Note 2 and it has the split window function on it. Its really awesome for the way I have always used a smart phone since my main function outside of calls is watching movies. Does anyone know if the Galaxy S3 will get the split window capability like the Note 2?
I know I'm outside the norm with my desire to watch movies on my phone, but its just the way I am..
Any help would be much appreciated!
Its currently not available but it will be available future updates. ETA DECEMBER

Yeah.. the PIP widget is probably my favorite thing in a phone ever. I have a buddy thats a manager at Google with a little sway and about a week before I got the S3 I was pestering him to try and pass along a request to whoever of something like that. I was really happy to see that it already existed on a phone I had already ordered. Ive been using that feature almost daily..

Can't wait
Jelly Bean made the s3 so fun to use rather than frustrating, and this will add some nice features
After using a lot of Samsung phones, this model has really let me down and I'm thinking to sell this phone and move on as I'm really not happy about it due to below shortcomings.
- Display Profiles/Preset(Dynamic/Standard etc) - This obvious option is missing and my eyes is unable to getting used to stock setting and screen is something which I look all the time I really miss this option
- Spen Keeper - Too bad I use Spen
- Macro Focus in Camera - And camera too
If you're not satisfied with the phone, then sell it.
Display Profiles, I kinda miss it in my previous Note 2 and Note 3. I'm used to the Neo's profile though.
Regarding S-Pen Keeper, I really liked it too, but I hardly leave without the Pen even when I used the previous notes, and there's also a S-Pen icon notification on top.
About the macro, it's not built for total macro shots since it doesn't have a nice aperture, but it doesn't necessarily mean the overall camera performance is bad. Here's a few macros I took myself, it's not that bad, right?

I think the display profiles not being there is more of a skimped feature cos of being a Neo.

Not in all countries, that is AFAIK. But yeah maybe in a few countries. The price of Note 3 has become pretty much stagnant, launched at 47K and since last 4-5 months it's being sold at 42-45K in different stores. I suggest u to wait for Note 4 if u can cos software & performance wise u won't be gaining much with the Note 3.

Ya you are right! Until you pointed even I didn't know that the "adapt, dynamic, standard, movie " option is missing. Now I am feeling sad too Good observation by you.
Regarding Camera you can try "focal" app and there are so many camera apps available which you can download using Aptoide.
Just go to Aptoide.com and then install the apk. Once you install that software you can add different stores. Using them you can search for any apps. Paid and free. There you can get many many camera apps which might cater to your needs hopefully.
Please wait for Snapdragon 805 phones to arrive and then may be you can sell this and get the latest. But really sad to know you are dissatisfied with this phone.
Hope your phone surprises you some way in coming days and changes your mind

May be Samsung has "hidden" those featureS? May be we can get those features by putting some code on dialpad?
for example *#9900# will give you additional settings mostly diagnostics. I have tried it on Note 2, Note 3 Neo and Note 8.0
I hope we can get back that "display" feature.
Cheers!

After all I'm peRFect! xD
They should give us the display profiles option, ridiculous on their part to be so miser.. -_-
Though I can live without it, many users require to adjust the settings. At that price, I think it's not justified to leave out a small albeit important feature!

I know you're the kind who likes natural colours, but I like punchy colours. So for me it's indeed one of the best!
S5 IMO has the best display to date.
I like S-Amoled displays so much that I find even my iPad Air's display to be a little dull which is supposedly the best LCD display!

Really? Their videos are speaking the truth then. Coming from a LCD display, I am in true love with the S-amOLED screen. After owning a Samsung phone, now I know what I had been missing.

If i liked LCD I would've never bought a Samsung phone which is quite obvious. Am fine with punchy but oversaturated colors is not what I like and I love options where I could tweak or change it as per my eyes.

Yeah but these days LCD displays are on par (may not be better) with SAMOELD Displays.
Guys... I've seen a few discussions about this, but the threads got closed.
I've had almost all of the galaxy S series (S3, S4 and now S6 edge)
I'm having lags and stutters while browsing some sites and even scrolling in Facebook, especially when going into Comments and looking at the replies of comments.
I'm absolutely mind boggled that when with these specs there are stutters and lags. I've also got the nexus 4,which doesn't have any issues at all.
I was having a hard time deciding between an iphone 6 (or 6S in fall) the Galaxy S6, but ultimately chose the S6, because I just couldn't justify paying that kind of money for outdated specs of 2 years ago. (Well I now have to admit specs are not everything)
I thought I wouldn't have to root my phone etc. because it'll run awesome out of the box, but that's not the case...
My galaxy S4 is almost running on par with the S6 though admittedly It's rooted and running an awesome custom rom.
I never used to care that much for micro lags and a bit of stutter, but you'd think they would have sorted it out by now with these monster specs and with this premium price now it always freaks me out if I see lags..
Otherwise it's really a beautiful phone with a mind blowing Camera. Though I still don't see the point why they went with such a high resolution for the display. ( if I take a picture on the S6 and send it to my s4 you can hardly spot a difference besides color accuracy and brightness, would rather have better battery with a lower res screen)
Anyone know a way to solve the scrolling problem? ( I tried 0.5 animation and factory reset to no avail)
Please don't shut down this thread like the other one, because it is a real issue!

After I obtained root, applied the unofficial memory bug fix, and installed a Debloated custom rom, the lag permanently disappeared. Consider doing as I did

Thanks for your response
And I'm sure it's possible to get rid of lag with root and debloating/custom roms. I had lots of fun doing all these things in the past, but now I just want a phone that just works out of the box. It's just frustrating, that with such specs, the premium price and it being 2015 you still have to do those things. And it's become a headache to always look for things that are draining your battery in standby and use stuff like greenify. And with "Powersaving location" apps polling way to often instead of giving them a certain timeframe to do so. (I think Sony did that with the stamina mode )
Well I guess that's the way it is. Maybe I should consider another phone after so many years of android.

The lag that occasionally occurs is solely due to the memory leak in lollipop and should be fixed officially in a future software update. Don't give your hopes up too quickly. Also, android is still better than ever on this phone.

I think it's more to do with the app quality and them not being optimized for specific phones. I mean they have to work on flagship phones as well as on budget 150$ phones. Well anyway let's just hope for the best... thanks anyway
And I saw somewhere that touchwiz 5.1.1 has a built in greenify :thumbup:

I sent back my S6, because of some cosmetic problems and have to use the Nexus 4 to bridge the time it is back. Updated my S6 to 5.1.1. It was better, but still has RAM -issues and lags in the browser and especially Facebook app.
Using my Nexus again (admittedly with a custom rom) I have no scrolling lag at all. It´s so frustrating a 2,5 Year old device is faster at tasks than the spec-monster which is the Galaxy S6. #Sorryforrant

What rom did you install.
I hate that you have to resort to roms on these phones just to get them the work they way they should out of the box.
The lag is killing me but I love the phone itself.

I installed Extreme Syndicate. It was just updated a day and a half ago to V8. It is on the Verizon Android Developement subforum. It has the memory patch applied, has the Alliance framework installed, a custom boot animation, and has many system apps removed (but not as many as V5)
seriously, i hate this phone for so many reasons, but lag never occurred to me specially when browsing,
i am using boat browser Pro, never used any other browser, and every thing is smooth as my iphone 6 side by side.
