Hello to Everyone!
If you are like I was, stuck on FRF91 without being able to downgrade to get root, or if you just want to be able to flash to any earlier version Nexus One rom, then this post is for you.
FRF91 does not allow you to flash to just any earlier version rom so for this tutorial, we will be using the EPE76 rom that I have already renamed to passimg.zip which allows us to bypass this limitation. The steps provided in this tutorial are all done on a stock t-mobile Nexus one with a locked bootloader, this is especially useful for people who wish to use the rooting method without unlocking the bootloader. If you already have an unlocked bootloader, there is no reason to follow this guide.
"Update" confirmed to also work on at&t nexus one
Notice: after you do this you will have to redownload your apps.
Steps:
1. Transfer the provided passimg.zip file to the root of your sd card.
2. Power down your phone.
3. Hold down the Volume Down button as you power your phone back on.
4. A screen should appear showing your phone’s system searching for various files. This will take up to 2 minutes.
5. The phone will ask you if you want to start the update. Press the Volume Up button to start the update.
6. If you followed these steps correctly, Congratulations, you are now on stock EPE76 Android 2.1 and able to flash to any official Nexus One rom that has been released.
If this guide helped you please let people know, the more posts there are, the more comfortable other people will feel to follow this guide.
Just helping the OP out.

Doesn't work.
'update failed - file is older!'
thanks for helping with the links.
bookmarked!!!
@ Amdathlonuk
If you received that error, then it was not done correctly. I downgraded from FRF91 two times before posting the tutorial and it worked both times, please make sure to follow the guide 100% exactly as posted or it won't work. Thanks.
If you already have your bootloader unlocked, a very much simple approach that doesn't require you to downgrade to stock and erase all your data is this:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_Nexus_One_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
Except of course, you don't need to flash the radio (since you have it already in FRF91) and instead of flashing CyanogenMod, you would flash any repacked and rooted FRF91 update.zip like this one.
@ asero
This method is for people who don't necessarily want to unlock their bootloaders. Thanks for pointing that out, I have updated my posting.
OMG, I was stuck on frf91 for the past 3 days after manually updating like an idiot. You saved me from a lot of headaches. Very easy tutorial. Donation on the way. Thank You.
Thanks very much
Is EPE76 only for T-mobile phones or is it safe for ATT phones as well?
I have tried this and several files to downgrade, none worked. I wonder if the fact I used the "universal" 85b update that flashes the whole device.
I don't think that is the problem because I myself used frf85b universal after doing the steps posted above and then rooted successfully following the how to root nexus one without unlocking the bootlowder tutorial.

I've got unrooted nexus and it's at&t's version.
will this Downgrade method work for me?
Is there any risk in it?
tnx!
To be honest, I don't know if it will work on an at&t nexus because I don't have one, but it should work on it if the epe76 nexus rom is compatible with it.

Could I get a download link to the universal 85b zip to do this please. The Google download is not working it shows that the file is not found. Would appreciate it very much
Here is the universal frf85b for whoever needs it

Dear XDA Developers Comunity,
First of all, I really appreciate the hard work to keep us satisfied with the updates and improvements in technological systems.
Yesterday, I made my first Root on my phone ( Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 ).... unfortunately brings with the latest version and has the VRUMI1 basis, I have understood that the Bootloader is locked, however, if anyone has had the honor of installing any Recovery to a phone with the same version as mine, I would appreciate very much if you indicate me how to do it.
What have I done so far?
Rooted my phone
I rooted my phone very easy following the steps of ..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487142 (Thanks beanstown106 for this)

Then I´ve been looking for a recovery like CWM or TWRP but No luck.
.............I have tried several processes,
********* I tried via ROM Manager (CWM Recovery does not work The me .... says it installed, but it always works the recovery system default.)
********* I tried via GooManager (But the download never starts, I do not understand how bad could it be their the download servers).
********* I tried via Loki_Flash but I indicates this message "Loki about version does not match device" till after I understood that this way of flashing devices is to the MDK basis only.

Oh lordy, please read and search the threads, you already managed to read enough to get as far as you did. You can install Safe Strap, although it is a bit buggy on MI1 from what I have read. No custom recovery option. Just root and debloat and be happy, that is the best route for now. See if 4.4 can bring some new exploits. I was rooted on MI1, I just followed the thread to upgrade to MJ7 and stay rooted. I am not dealing with safe strap, just seems like too much work for a phone that already works great.
Thanks for reply

I really appreciate your prompt response. As you see, I am a new user to this kind of things. But still I seek the opportunity to find the best sources to make these changes on my phone and be lucky with testing ROMs and the best Deployed Apps .... Yes I have read that so far no method for Recovery, but you never know if someone has made work and willing to show how.
I have read about Safestrip, but I see there are errors with the Bootloader, do you think this could work for me?.
BTW Can you please give me more information about "debloat"? Thank you very much my friend.

Yes, actually you do know, because anyone that has made it work will post to XDA that they did it.
Relax. The S4 is a nice phone as it is, enjoy it for now. Pay attention here at your leisure for any new developments if you must.
There's still a huge bounty if someone gets a bootloader unlock. I doubt if somebody figured it out they would turn down a huge chunk of money and not tell anyone about it.
Don't worry, if someone unlocks the bootloader it will be all over XDA.

Well I just flashed the DarkHorse Maps 7.7.0..zip and seems to work pretty good as far as I can tell.
> If anyone intends to flash this be careful, you MUST make sure you get the right one, there are a few.
If you don't get the right one, it will say the app is not installed.
I have learned from past experience.
Here is a link to the post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41634338
Before flashing I recommend uninstalling Maps updates first.
I just flashed it via Flashify.
Wiped the cache and dalvik flash the zip and profit!!!

I would imagine it'll work on stock or a ROM. If you have TWRP installed then just nandroid your stock (which you should already do) then flash zip. Then if you want to sell you can just restore your stock.

Depending on the SW that is installed you might have to downgrade first to get TWRP installed.
I can't answer about the ROM since I run Jasmine 8.0.
Plan on having to downgrade using the kdz or tot method to software version 10B, but other than that one you're to that then rooting & unlocking (I've always just used stump and bump, respectively) is as easy as it gets. Make sure to do plenty of reading, as always!
Buy a g4.

So I think I've settled on the G3. I'm switching from iPhone on AT&T and I have until the 11th of September....right now they have a special when you switch...basically a $300 credit. You mention downgrading...any tricks to this? I snagged the Verizon LG G3 All-in-One Toolkit ....hope that's all I need. I've rooted and installed mods for my Galaxy Tab 2 and a couple other Samsung phones that had no phone service, but this will be my first go at using Andoid as a cell phone. Any other advice would be awesome...thank you.

This is the exact thread I've always followed to downgrade back to software version 10B:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/restore-verizon-to-stock-t2827878
Once you're back at 10B, follow this guide to use "Stump" to root (and as long as you're back on 10B, you can ignore the warning message about discontinued development at the top of the OP):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Then, once you're done with all that, simply use "flashify" from the play store to flash a "bumped" recovery image - I'd recommend TWRP, which can be found here....use the latest version - 2.8.7.0:
https://dl.twrp.me/vs985/
Read each thread about 3 times before attempting, and as long as you can follow instructions you'll be golden.

Last question on this....should I back up the phone before I start? Not sure....is there a proper method for backing up the LG3? Thanks all.
Hey guys, so the last phone I rooted and had a bootstrap on with custom roms was the Motorola Droid x2. We couldn't even get into the kernel. So with that being said I've acquired super user on my g3 months ago to freeze apps. But now I don't depend on my phone like I did then for work. So I want to do the whole thing and I'm unsure what choices to make. I'm not looking for a guide for installing stuff (at least not yet ) just trying to get suggestions and hopefully good recommendations.
So here's the main point for the post
TLDR!!!!!
Current android version 5.0.1
kernels- unlock it? Change it? Not sure what all you can actually do with that.
Bootstrap- clock work mod? Or any other one can't think of names but need something to load roms
Rom for battery and power- cyanogenmod is what I use to run on the x2 not sure if it's still one of the best?
Anything else I missed that I should get and check out?
Thanks in advance
Put TWRP custom recovery on your phone with the autorec TWRP app by @bender_007, in the General section of the non-variant specific G3 sections. Once you give the app superuser permissions it looks like it's hung up but give it 10-30 seconds because it's backing up your current recovery. Then click the button to install TWRP. Download the latest TWRP v2.8.7.0 from its thread also somewhere in the G3 sections, and flash it from your current TWRP.
I use @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM, which is based on the latest official LG ROM, build 35B, based on Android 5.1.1. Very happy with it, very smooth and great on battery.
I haven't heard the term bootstrap with regards to custom recoveries. I'd suggest just calling them custom recoveries.
Thanks for your input it's been a while after I read it I was like yep it's custom recoveries lol thank you again
