z2 lollipop build 23.1.a.0.726 issues - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

z2 lollipop build 23.1.a.0.726 issues
1) move apps to sd card is a joke,
as it only move the tiny (apk) file to sd while leaving the huge (obb) file eating the internal storage
Take example (badland game) apk size 23mb. And obb is 143 mb
Is that normal with Sony phones , it works perfectly on my Samsung note 10.
2) there is No haptic feedback option, why?
I really want to disable vibration for all notifications and not all apps has individual option for vibration
Can I solve the obb problem without root?
Will Sony fix these issues?

No. Without root you can't do anything. It is no very difficult to root LP if you flash prerooted firmware zip file via recovery.
For moving app and obb folder I use Link2SD Pro on Kitkat which have that nice feature also to move obb folder of games to SD card. So far for me that is best app for moving application to SD card. And it will move everything what you want (apk, cache, app forlder and etc.).

@icpart
Since you rooted your Z2, use foldermount pro.
As it move the files as a normal Android do
To
(sdcard1/Android /obb)
Not like link2sd do
It moves the obb to its own folder
(sdcsrd1/link2sd /bind/obb) Which interfer with your updates

Can't move apps vom sdcard to system

Hello,
today i wanted to install a new sd-card with higher transfer-class in my minipro.
Because of using stock-rom before some days I had an ext2-partition on the old sd-card and all apps where located there.
Now I'm using miniCM7 Pro v10 and so I decided to move all apps to sd-partition, then make a full copy of the old sd-partition to the new sd-card and then copy some system-apps like launcher back to the internal memory of my phone because of performance.
Until partition-copy at PC everything worked fine. But now I can't move the system-apps back to system-memory. App2SD says it's not possible because there is not enough free memory.
But in internal memory are still 155Mb.
Where ist the problem?
I can't let the apps stay on sd-card. I can't use any of my widgets, launcher doesn't list them.

You don't need ext2 in this ROM, because it's native app2sd. format sd card, just with one pastisi and impossible to move the application system to the sd card.
That was the reason for me to do that what I did.
Before doing that all apps where on these ext2-partition as "past pollution" of the stock rom. But the new app2sd of custom rom thought the apps where on internal memory and couldn't notice that it was an external ext2-partition.
Thats why I copyed all installed apps (not the hole system) with app2sd to the sdcard-partition and so on.
Now the Problem is still there... I can't move apps from sdcard-partition to phone with app2sd...

check free memory in the system ROM with Titanium Backup.
Application systems and applications built ROM is here, if it,s full. deleting unused aplication or unnecessary aplication.
System-ROM: 18,8Mb free
Intern: 138Mb free
SD-Card: 3,2Gb free
An I thought Apps would be installed on "intern", isn't it?
Wherefore else is Intern?

[Q] System apps to SD Card via Link 2 SD

Is it possible to move the system apps to sd card using link2SD ?
No. You can convert system apps to user apps then move them. At your own risk...
Yea
If you have a rooted phone and realy want to force your phone apps to be moved on sd storage you may be successfull but than you dont have any guarantee that they´ll work as they should because in some case it is evident to be on phone storage
Further it may cause system crashes if the sd card is dismounted or interrupted in some way because the system in system apps means that they´re workin on the system =)
Hi. My question is:
I have copy all the .apk from \system\app of my mobile. Can I uninstall these one with link2sd and after that run the apk from my saving to force them via link2sd to install on a partition from sd card ?
And in the apk there is some system apps (ok for google apps like youtube).
Thanks in advance for your replies.
dont. it will brick your phone
Which is the best and EASIEST program to do that on rooted mobile phones?

[Q] Moving app Data to External SD card

Hi Guys,
I have karbonn A15 android ICS(4.0.4) smartphone, its not rooted.
I want to move the app Data to my external sd card, i tried to move the data folder from the internal SD (android/data) to External SD (root folder), just to check whether it releases any memory in the storage section in phone settings. but the internal storage was same, there was no change, can anyone tell me where does the app data resides in the internal memory, its fine if i can move app data manually to the external sd card.
I also want some clarification on below questions:
1. Also i want to know whether there is any risk rooting phone like (Bricking Phone), as i have bricked my previous Galaxy Ace when i rooted and used ROM manager.
2. Also i have heard about Folder Binding app which automatically transfers App Data to External Sd Card, is there any risk of bricking phone.
3. Whats the easiest method to root Karbonn A15 phone, i am not that tech savvy, so easiest method would be grateful in rooting device.
My concern is just to move App Data to External Sd Card, because i have some app whose Data increase very frequently (E.g: FireFox app).
Answers to this would be really appreciated.

here are the steps
the driver files are included on the phone internal card called pcdrivers.zip. you can connect the usb mount the internal usb storage and copy the file to your pc. if you face any problems you can download the file from here
1. Enable USB Debugging -> Under SETTINGS -> DEVELOPER OPTIONS
2. Install the drivers for the phone.
3. download "Android Root Unlock" from sourceforge.net and extract it to your Disktop
4. navigate to the above folder and run the batch file ICS_Root_Unlocker.bat
the batch file will reboot your phone a couple of times and will wait with a message "Press Any Key to continue"
IMPORTANT NOTE : if you PC is saying "PRESS ANY KEY" note if your phone is on or rebooting....
if it is Rebooting, wait for it to start before pressing a key
5. After a couple of boots the phone will be rooted
6. verify that the Root is complete by observing a "Superuser" shortcut in the application list
Moving Apps:
Once rooted, download Folder Mount From the Play Store
- Once installed, open FolderMount and grant superuser access when asked.
- In FolderMount, you have the options to:
- Name your folder (IE: "Generic Game 1")
- Select the "Source" Folder (the one on your local storage)
- Select the "Destination" Folder (the one on your SD Card)
When you enter these details, it will then move them to your SD Card!
I highly recomend FolderMount Pro, because it also shows you filesizes when browsing.
Common Locations of Large Files:
Two common locations for games (IE: Gameloft games, EA Games, etc.)
Android/data
Android/obb
I know it's not the easiest process ever, but hopefully I've explained it enough to get people started.

Is there any method/app that can provide a similar functionality without rooting the phone? I tried rooting my Karbonn A21 without success and do not really want to brick it?
Also is there any way of backing up the phone and app data before rooting? Will the existing apps and data be wiped out by rooting?
Thanks in advance.

foldermount
so quick question, i transferred games to external sd, worked fine and all, but after a while my games asked me to download the files again, anyone know a solution?
I m using foldermount but there is write error mention that was unable to write into the external sdcard caused by a permission issue where normal apps are not able to write anything into storage/ext_sd. What should I do next to solve this problem? Attempt to recover using the apps not solving it.
This is what i mean.
Moving app Data to External SD card
in particular the movement of android apps data from internal memory to SD card is a simple process, but the problem with these issues is your smartphone is to be a latest version like 4.3 version.
Idea
Can I move the game folders from Internal Storage: Android/data -> SD card: Android/data, will it work on non rooted phone? In the Data folder on the SD card are partition of some apps and they work just fine. Same with folder "obb".
moving apps data and obb to External sdcard.
I recommend using an app called folder mount. ..it needs root but it's as easy as fishing in a barrel. .. I am using It and it works fine... and now you have a clear space in your internal storage.
Hey, I followed above instructions and my phone Samsung S5 6.0.1 successfully rooted, but now I've entered into an endless restarting loop.
Please help what's the problem might be?

[MOD] Obb on SD v0.4.2

I wanted to free up few GB from my internal storage by moving some big OBB files to "real" external SD. There are multiple apps that can do that but most of them need to patch my sdcard daemon (because I run Samsung phone), run on boot to execute the binds/mounts, they have to unmount when connecting to pc (not sure?), want me to (offer) remap various locations or pay for multiple entries...
Then there's XInternalSD which does exactly what I need except few things (requires unnecessary setup) which is why I am coming with my own version of similar module.
Module Obb on SD attempts to make it seamless - just enable module, reboot and move obb's to SD card (to same folder: Android/obb) - that's it. No need to enter any path or whitelist/blacklist any app. Do you want to only move Obb from Grand Theft Auto? Then only move that obb. Obb on SD will detect "obb on SD" and enable hooks only for this single game.
I tried various approaches. For example hooking up constructors of File() but since most of large obb's comes from games - ane they are native, it doesn't really work. I just like to have elegant and efficient solution which I thing this module is.
Need more features or move other directories? Than use FolderMount, GL to SD or other app.
Compatibility? It should be the same as XInternalSD. Almost all games I have work just fine (Rockstar, Gameloft, EA, Sega and others), the only trouble I encountered was with games from DotEmu which had hardcoded path to /mnt/sdcard from within native libraries (and it's outside of scope for Xposed to change such fopen call).
Obb on SD also tries to make Play Store update OBB files directly on SD card. It works during my tests but I hear some have issues with it. If you do, you might want to use the "no_play_store_hooks" version instead (available only from here). EDIT: Since version 0.4 there are configuration toggles for enabling/disabling Play Store hooks.

Hi.I am using s4, it's really used up my internal space when I install big game/apps.
This module is great but I want to know if there is a chance for updating that every time when I install a app than it auto moves the obb file to SD card?
Or like folder mount choosing the appear for moving without manually moving by ourselves.
Thanks for your effort !(Sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker -_-)
What I'm most concerned is kernel compatibility. Does this work on custom kernels? FolderMount is very strict and won't find the folders properly if the ramdisk isn't very close to stock one. Also you should add the data folder as well. The one beside obb folder. Some legacy games use that as well.
Yup would be great if option for data folder would be there, though happy with obb too. Thanks.

Does this interfere with storage stats and does it mean that i can just drag n drop the contents of the obb from sdcard to the android/obb on extsdcard at whim and it auto detects?
Next we just need something for internal/data/data/, besides Link2SD plus there seems to be nothing else out there. All samsung androids suffer this same issue.
Thanks for the module!.
I skeptically tried this module to ease my woes with my Galaxy S5 and all the trouble ive been having (for WEEKS) with switching my internal to external sd links.
FolderMount, Link2SD, internal2externalsd (script & app) all failed.
Obb on SD: PROFIT!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! lol
Worked first time without a hitch! Tested XCOM game (obb is 3.5 gb+) - had it installed on both internal and external (64 gb SanDisk) and App Info showed 7 gb - so I renamed the internal obb folder to 1com.etc and it still played! Now I can place all my games on external sd and save SO much room! (2.15 GB free is now 7.35 GB free!)
Running KK 4.4.2 - SM-G900P - ND2 Build (Sprint Galaxy S5)
@leung6340 Obb & updating via Play Store: This is the next thing I want to try - handling updates from Play Store. It could work using the trick with paths changed in File() constructor in Play Store (or other service responsible for download). Will test.
@nicesoni_ash @shivadow Data dir on SD: Another thing I will most probably test and do (if it will work good enough).
@Blackbird256 Just like XInternalSD, it works on much higher level so it doesn't matter what kernel is used.
@shivadow Storage stats - depends what exactly you mean... Application manager will not report correct size though (because it will not find the obb on SD)...
I'm trying this genial module and I past assassin creed on my external sd in android/obb but didn't work
I'm on s4 goldeneye 38.2 with talextop
any help?
seems alot easier than foldermount, but oh well, i payed for the pro version so i guess ill keep using it

I currently use LINK2SD on my S5. So what do you mean that they fail? How does Odd on SD Better? PLEASE EXPLAIN...
Been waitin o soooo long
With Sd-XC you couldnt partition exFat, so i would have to put nandroids on my 64gb sd-xc with otg cable and use my old 32gb sd partitioned to take care of obb files, soooo point being this is awesome, now i can use one card. Thank you sooooo much to developer.
Xperia Z2 working flawlessly!
Thank you!!!! this is exactly what I've been looking for! no mounting or partitioning just copy obb data to external sd card and install apk and play! so far I've tried two apps/games and it's working perfectly! going to try more tomorrow but thanks again for the amazing work! we really needed this, I look forward to your future updates
Y use this module... only need to install and enable it... then move all of my obb files to the same directory but in the external sd, reboot and that's all. Work perfectly all apps. Better, easier and faster than link2sd and the other available options

moneytoo thank you very much for this amazing module! Works flawless on my sm-g3815 with CM11. Tried so many apps before and this is by far the easiest one to use, and it actually works!

Hi
I'll try this interesting module! :good:
But.. why some people mention Link2Sd? It does another thing, uses another partition and it's not meant to move obb files...
does it work if ext sd is NTFS formatted?

Marshmallow writing to external sd card

I know Android M has a new way to connect external sd cards, you can convert the external memory into internal memory but this is not what I need. The alternative is that only some directories are write-enabled on the sdcard but this in turn is not enough.
Starting with Kitkat (also working on Lollipop) there was a hack allowing you to use an external sd as read/write storage.
This hack no longer seems to work with marshmallow, if you go searching for sdcard fix you'll find that this fix does not work on Marshmallow.
Are there already apps fixing this problem ( no problem if root access is required since my phone is rooted).
Android 6.0 isn't yet available for my Xperia Z3 Compact but when it becomes available I'd like to have a way to go around this problem.
If it doesn't yet exist do you know names of developers working an such a fix?
+1.
However, for me the problem is immediate: I have a rooted HTC One M8 with a 64GB external SD card that I've recently upgraded to Marshmallow. Like many of you, thanks to rooting I was able to work around Google's SD card handling changes introduced in 4.4 KitKat, and the same fix worked in 5.0.
But I'm having serious deja vu with 6.0, because it seems the behavior is back to being much like KitKat again: Apps can only write to their own private folder under /data on the SD card. But unlike KitKat, I've found no simple workaround like editing a system XML file.
Some apps like ES File Explorer have a special 'root mode' option that enables them to write to any folder of both internal and external storage. For other non-root apps, there is a convoluted workaround the first time the user tries to use the SD card where the user must authorize writing to any folder by selecting the root folder of the SD card from a folder tree. The permission seems to 'stick' after that, but I don't know if it survives a reboot?
So I'm also wondering if any bright devs are working on a more general root workaround like we had for KitKat, perhaps as an Xposed module? And in the meantime, does anyone know what's happening behind the scenes when an app uses the "choose the SD card root folder" solution? Where is that new permission being defined/stored?
Assuming the additional SD card write permission is indeed persistent (or could somehow be saved and restored after a reboot), could we manually add similar permission for other apps that don't include the solution? For example, the QuickPic gallery app does have it, so I can now move and rename images from any SD card folder. But the Dolphin browser doesn't, so when I try to download a file to the SD card, I can only choose the single Dolphin-owned folder. (This wasn't a problem in Lollipop - but Dolphin now gives me a helpful explanation blaming Google for the restrictions added in KitKat, even though I'm two major releases past KK...). Until/if Dolphin adds code similar to QuickPic, it would sure be great if I could manually add a similar permission. I've spent hours searching, but haven't discovered anything. So any ideas would be very welcome!
No response in months. Is this xposed module what you guys needed? Or have you found other workarounds?
