I'm probably being a bit stupid here, but this my first Samsung device for years. I can't find the enter key on the keyboard! Can anyone tell me where it is?
Depends which one you use but on default is on the bottom right

I'm using the Samsung stock keyboard (labelled as Samsung keyboard in Input Methods. In the bottom right corner I have a standard smilie, and a long press just brings up alternative smiles. Pressing shift doesn't change that bottom right corner, nor does pressing Sym.
mine looks like this on default

This is odd, I get different ones depending on the app I'm in.
Hangouts is the first attachment, Messaging is the second.
I get the same the return key only appears as an arrow to the right of the entered text
Hi
a lot of us faced problem that the return key missing in whatsapp. The problem is not with the keyboard setting. One of the many possibilities is with the Whatsapp setting instead.
In whatsapp >> go to settings >> chats >> chat settings >> unclick Enter is Send.
Then the return key would come back. All the best, it took me a week to find out.
yckeric .... you are gr8 ... thanks
i'm having the same issue too but im on the note 4. How do i enter a new line on Google Messenger with stock samsung keyboarD?
You can't, the 'return key' slot is actually an action button specific to each app. Most apps don't define (default:return key), but Google has defined it as a smiley key instead. It has been infuriating me for years, but it seems like a push from Google to use their own keyboard. But even in Google keyboard you have to SYM+return. Only way I (tediously) get around this is to use the pen input to make a new line. Non-Note phones won't have this option though.

I don't use WhatsApp but I just had this same problem on my Note 3, and it turned out to be due to a setting in chompSMS. Two, actually, could cause these problems. The first is in Settings (tap the three dots when viewing your conversations) > Scroll down to Sending and uncheck Send using Enter. If you're having the smiley issue, keep scrolling down to the bottom and tap Keyboard. In that menu it says Smiley or Enter - make sure yours is set to enter. Hope that helps.
On my note 4 edge, on android messages, I find two solutions, using the pen ( was already mentioned before), and the second was using settings (on the keyboard).... my hot keys (on)... and when is asking to assign a text at no.1 I just hit enter.... , and now when I'm writing and I need a new line... just long press no.1.
This is the best answer, and solved the issue.
This was the most precise and useful answer, it solved the issue for me and im sure, for many others too.

Access the number pad
Long press the 12# or 123 button on the keyboard. This will only work if you have the standard keyboard installed.
Access the scientific calculator
When using the standard calculator, rotate the phone to landscape mode. The calculator will change to a scientific one.
Remove numbers from the call log
If you have made a call to a number that you don't want anyone seeing in your call log, press Call log on the Home screen. Then press and hold on the contact you want to remove. When the Menu appears, press Delete.
Save images in browser, email or text
To save an image in an email or in the browser, long press on the image and a menu will appear allowing you to save it.
For images inside text messages, you might have to press and hold on the message itself, rather than the image.
Allow swear words in voice recognition
By default, the phone will recognise swear words, but insert x's instead of the word. To change this, go to Settings - Voice input & output - Voice recognition settings. Then untick Block offensive words.
View all camera settings
While in the Camera app you can view all current settings by pressing and holding the little Gear icon in the top right corner of the app.
Swipe right to dial contact
From the Contact list or the Messaging list, swipe from Left to Right to call a Contact.
View CPU and battery information
To view information about your battery and CPU go to your phone dialer and type in the following code: *#*#4636#*#*
Disable the screen lock
Go into Settings - Location and security. Then under Screen unlock settings press Change screen lock. Then chose None.
Rejecting a call with a message
If you receive a call you cannot take (eg if you're in a meeting) you can send a text reply rather than just reject the call. When you receive the call, scroll up from the bottom and select a reject message.
Search music on Youtube from Music Player
While in the Music Player, long press on the song title of the music and you can search Youtube for more music.
Zoom when using the camera
Use the Volume keys to zoom in and out

Samsung phones have the contact swipe action, the RAZR does not. It does have swipe actions in the stock email client, though.

Sorry about that! Just moved from a GS2. Ill update the OP
Very simple, as it's my first xposed mod.
This will force the enter key inside hangouts in place the smiley key (on applicable keyboards of course). No it will not be just a visual change, it will be the ACTUAL enter key so that you can type multi-line messages.
This should also work on any future versions of Hangouts because of the way the variables are obtained. Of course, post if it does not work on a future version of Hangouts.

Ok, can you open Xposed installer, go to the "Logs" section and take a screenshot of the part where "co.cnexus.xp.force.enter" comes up?

Thank you so much for this app, been waiting for this forever!
I hate not being able to use Swype.
Is it at all possible to make this for the stock messaging app? The app on Xperia phones also uses the stupid smiley key in Swype instead of enter.
Thanks.
@igresso
This seems to be working for all other keyboards I've tried except for multiling...
Unfortunately, I can't seem to be able to figure it out as it would most likely require a hook into your keyboard itself
Np thanks for trying bro .. good work anyway [emoji122]

Thanks a lot for the nice app, but could you add the option to send a message with the Enter button instead of adding a new line?

It depends on the keyboard...some will interpret it as having the keyboard make a new line, others will interpret as having the enter key send the message
Picture not showing
I just want to notice the pictures in the xposed installer arent showing. Nexus 5 stock android 4.4.2
I'm using Swiftkey, and with your mod, when I use the enter key, it sends the message, not add a new line.
I'd like to add a new line while using swiftkey, is it possible ?
nice app, always hated that smiley face crap given that it REPLACED a key instead of adding to a keyboard. funny thing is, I've been partly trained to press the send button lately, but will train myself to press Enter instead. Would be nice if you could do the same thing to BBM...
I'm getting the send message action when pressing rather than the line under on my stock samsung keyboard on my s4. I would rather the line under but anything is an improvement over that silly smiley. What are they thinking with that? Nice work.
Well... when i start my phone today some icons from notification bar are missing.
A lot o users front HTC mania forum are affected. Any suggestions?

Hi guys.
Ok so for those who have rooted, here is my solution that I have done to bring them back.
1st thing is do download SQl editor:
SQl editor
there are some free ones!
open app and go to apps bar, then scroll down to settings storage and open that.
then click on settings.db, then system and then search for "notification" then look at _id: 3469.
click on that and then look at top the pencil button, click it. Then copy the whole value string...
and then once copied go back to _id 102 and do the same, click on it and then pencil and click...
then highlight the whole value string and replace it with the value you copied earlier, save and reboot.
for not rooted
Samsung Italy on Twitter tell that we must reset the s6 with factory data reset. they are crazy!!!!

Fixed it using this method, just that ids were different values. Basically you copy every value from "notification panel active app list reset" to "notification panel active app list" save and reboot
In my case they were ids 103 and 14243.
Ue the enable all notification toggles option in Galaxy Tools. Root required. Worked for me.

It worked for me when I deleted the notification_panel_active_app_list. Tried to edit it and reboot, but didn't work. But when I deleted it and rebooted, the buttons were back! Don't touch the "notification_panel_active_app_list_for_reset", just the "notification_panel_active_app_list"!
Thanks for great tip!
So apparently this is some built in feature within lollipop of expiring quick setting toggles you don't use after 30 days. Coincidentally i've had my phone for about 30 days. I guess most people here had their phone around the same time, which is why you are now experiencing this problem. Stupid programming, stupid features, not enough user control!!! I hope there is a non-root solution for all us unrooted folk.
Check out this crap:
Source: ( http://www.androidbeat.com/2014/11/...isappear-quick-settings-android-5-0-lollipop/ )
Unused tiles will automatically disappear from Quick Settings in Android 5.0 Lollipop
Google has given Quick Settings a major revamp with Android 5.0 Lollipop and filled it with useful toggles that people actually use in day-to-day life. One neat little feature that the company has added in Lollipop for Quick Settings is that unused items will automatically disappear after a certain time.
For example, if you don’t use W-Fi hotspot quick tile in Lollipop for a certain amount of time, it will automatically disappear. Similarly, if you frequently use an option from the Settings menu, it will automagically appear as a tile in Quick Settings.
However, Google does not provide a way to bring back a toggle that is removed, or remove one that comes up automatically.
As pointed out on Reddit by user eak125 though, you can fast forward, or go back a month or two in time to remove any unwanted toggles. To remove an unused toggle, simply head over to Settings -> Date & Time and change the date to a month from now. The unused quick tile will then automatically disappear. Do note though that the default toggles in Lollipop will always be present no matter what.
There is also another way to reset the Quick Settings tile using ADB, but the process is more cumbersome than the one pointed out by eak125.
Considering how limited quick settings was in KitKat, it is nice to see that Google has added such thoughtful new features to it in Lollipop to enhance its usability.
Has anyone figured out how to do this? Under Apps, there is not LG Keyboard app for me to disable.
I don't think you can. Just replace it with whichever one you want and forget about it.

Download Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store. I paid for the app; it's well worth it. After you install GBoard or whatever else keyboard you install, use Package Disabler Pro to disable the LG keyboard. PDP will prompt you to install an LG Service app and will need you to set a few permissions before it will give you the ability to disable apps that you'd otherwise not be able to.

I had this app for my S7edge. I didn't realize it worked for other phone brands as well. I did this and now Google Voice Typing is still showing as a keyboard. Would you happen to know how to get rid of this? I'm ultimately trying to get rid of the keyboard prompt that shows up in notifications when I'm typing.
install your keyboard of choice (GBoard for example)
Open settings
Go to Language and Input
Pick the default keyboard option
Hit "select more" if only one or two is shown
Select Gboard and turn it on.
Select LG Keyboard and turn it OFF
You can leave Google voice typing ON if you want.
This will get rid of the keyboard icon in the notification area. You don't have to uninstall, delete, or disable the LG keyboard, just turn it off from the list of available keyboards.

edit: cool just noticed the incognito underlay on the keyboard.

It is hiding.
Under Language and input you'll see "keyboard & input methods"
The first item is "Default"
select it.
Then look closely at the modal window that pops up.
It'll say "Change Keyboard"
It may list one or more options
then say "Cancel ... Select More"
You want select more.

Cool! I got to that screen. I shut off the LG board but I still saw the keyboard icon in my notification area whenever the gboard popped up. Turns out I also had to disable the Google Handwriting keyboard too. Now that silly icon doesn't show up! Thanks!
Good evening. I am having two issues that popped up with my phone when I turned it on the other morning. I use the Simple Mobile service and have a Galaxy a10e. All software is up to date and I am running Android 10.
The first issue is that due to having larger fingers it is easier to use 'talk to text.' I have Samsung Keyboard as my default and had muted all my sounds so that when I hit the microphone and went to touch the circled microphone to speak there would be no sound. However the other morning when I went to talk to text it made a 'ding' noise at me. I went into settings and could not find a way to quiet it.
I searched the web and found a similar issue and someone downloaded sound assistant from the Galaxy Store. I did that but when I went to the section where you could control the individual volume of apps it seemed there was everything chooseable (Phone, Voice Recorder, Firefox, etc.) BUT messages does not show up.
The second issue I have is with the drop down menu on the main page. There used to be a button for mobile data so you could grey it out.
I have a cap and occasionally if I am not home and say, playing a game offline, it was always easy to just pull down the menu and shut off data. But the button is no longer there. Granted I had not used it in a bit but there was an option. I even looked on Samsung on how to shut off mobile data and it recommends that step. But the button seems to have disappeared.
If anyone could help me with these issues I would certainly appreciate you taking the time. Thanks and have a good evening.

1. You can try Google keyboard (Gboard). Maybe its voice to text feature works fine for you ... It is working without any sound on my phone.
2. The mobile data toggle should still be there. Maybe not on the first "page". Drop down the toggles and click the three dots menu (at the top right) and select the option to edit/change the toggles. Then search for mobile data and place it on the first page (or where you want it to be).
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for responding. I have been waiting for help for over a month. I appreciate it.
I am going to attempt to add pictures to show what I am seeing in case it helps.
1. I have Gboard downloaded. I now have 3 choices for keyboard
-Google Voice Typing
-Gboard
-Samsung Keyboard

If I have Samsung Keyboard selected over all the keys I have this
When I choose Gboard I get this which doesn't show the option for a Microphone
In settings for Gbaord I have USE VOICE TYPING selected.
I also have the choice of Samsung or Google Text to speak engine.
The only way I can use Talk to Text with the Gboard I can see is to go back into keyboard choices (bottom right) and choose Google voice typing which brings up
I do not see any way to use Google Keyboard with a microphone showing.
2. As to the mobile data toggle when I drop down from the top I get on two pages
If I choose the three button options
This is what shows. I do not see the option for any other buttons.
If you know what I am doing wrong please let me know. All I know is that there was a button for shutting data which disappeared and my samsung keyboard started making noises when you touch the microphone when it didn't before. I wish I knew more about this but it had been fine forever and then just one morning I noticed the mobile data button was missing and when I went to talk to text my wife the microphone was beeping again.
I appreciate your time and effort. I know where to look if I have PC issues I can't solve myself but when it comes to the phone this is a puzzle I can't solve. Please have a good evening.
